Not the worlds largest air museum, but there is plenty of really neat planes in fantastic shape, and the aircraft and space-related artifacts do fill two spacious hangars. Space shuttle training units and several vintage WWII aircraft. Lots of local history and clearly a great STEM program for the younger aviatiors-in-training.

Its my first time attending an event at this location and it was beautifully decorated and I can see why it is a popular venue for events. The height of the ceiling gives it an extremely glamorous look and with proper decorations, the entire space can be transformed into whatever you want. The location is great but GPS had a little bit of a hard time getting the turns right.

Historic aircraft. Flight simulators. Hands on aviation related experiments. Information about the science behind how it all works. Aviation history. For younger kids, probably a 30 min to 1 hour activity. For older kids and adults actually interested in aviation and not just looking at planes, could be a 2 hour activity.

I ve never heard of this place, but was pleasantly surprised with our visit. We enjoyed the time here more than another space related place down the road. The kids area was the best I ve seen for exploring and explaining principles of flight. There were interactive opportunities that even adults will enjoy. The plane displays were clean, informative, and in great condition. Nice gift shop, and you can make your own pressed pennies with your favorite historical plane. Didn t take time to do the flight simulators, but next time we will!

Lone Star does a consistently outstanding job. This is a great museum. I think of it as a hidden gem, as it s not nearly as busy as NASA or HMNS. Check in periodically as they typically have new guest planes monthly. Also, most (all?) of the planes you see are real and flight worthy. You don t even see that at places like the Smithsonian. You can actually pay for a ride in many of them on certain days.

From the iconic DC3 to the rugged Boeing PT-17 Stearman and the powerful B25 Mitchell, the collection is impressive. What struck me most was that these planes aren t just static displays they re in flyable condition! Whether you re a history buff, a pilot, or simply curious about aviation, this museum is a must-visit. First time at the museum. 2 large hangars with airplanes and other memorabilia. The Texas Aviation Hall of Fame was a little over-whelming, but I guess for Texans it could be interesting. The history of aviation in Texas was a very interesting and worth-while look through. But everyone comes for the planes, and they didnt disappoint. They had been restored to excellent condition (especially my favorite, the F4U Corsair and right next to it a Skyraider). Lots of puddle jumpers, which helped make it interesting.
