It is an educative but tiny space. However it shows some important organs of the body in giant size. It was underwhelming, the attention catcher was not there, some items were old and some not so functional. The games were nice especially the IQ puzzles in the back. So good it was free on Thursday.

Daughter aged 6yo did DNA camp here, and she loved it. She came home with something every day; sharing what she had learned and been working on. Communication was good, price was fair. Getting in and out of museum district during business hours downtown can be hairy, but their staff had someone w a walkie-talkie outside, trying to streamline the process. Will recommend to friends in the area!

Enjoyed the free museum day! Fascinating exhibits and thought provoking sessions. Definitely not for the younger kids- I would say six and up at minimum. We did the cell lab and it was super cool- a lab assistant walked my sonr through two different experiments on blood typing and cell identification. It is a bit overwhelming/ with exhibits spilling into each other but packed full of cool stuff.

We came on a day when unfortunately half the museum was closed. They were in-between exhibits, so only one section was opened. They did however offer a voucher to come back when the new exhibit was ready. My kids did enjoy the interactive areas and learned a lot about the body systems! We were also told that a live organ dissection would be happening every hour on the hour in the theatre to make up for the closure. We waited for 15 minutes after the show was supposed to start and still nobody showed up. My kids became antsy so I had to go out and find some staff to ask what was going on. They apologized but didnt seem sure as to why nobody showed up. Somebody finally came by and my kids thought it was neat getting to hold a real heart! I also appreciate that you can use their parking lot ($8) to walk around and visit other places and leave even after the museum is already closed.

As an Assistant Principal and homeschool mom, it is a great place to take neurodivergent and neurotypical students to learn about health in creative ways. I enjoy the science lab because they set up different hands on labs to use the scientific method. They have movies, interactive exhibits (ie. the heart). The gift shop has some of the best options compared to other museums in the city.

I went here for a school trip and let me tell you it was quite an interesting experience! It may not be as big as other museums in Houston but theres quite a lot to see and do! Theres interactive activities for all ages, healthy bending machines when you get hungry, a gift shop to buy a souvenir, exhibits showcasing real stories of people that have struggled/died from abusing substances, rooms to look at to represent how it looked like, a view at the lungs of a pig that has inhaled cigarette smoke vs. the lungs of a healthy pig, and even interactive dissections!! For example, one of the activities that my group did was disecting an animals heart thats very similar to ours which we examined and learned more about which was pretty fascinating. Not for the weak since the smell is strong and the heart still has preservative juices lol. Pretty awesome museum and totally recommend for anyone interested in health or the human structure.

The Health Museum in Houston offers an enlightening journey into the world of wellness. From interactive exhibits on human anatomy to insightful displays on public health issues, its both educational and engaging. Normally the ticket is $12/adult and $10/child (ages 3-12), but there is a free hour. Free hour is on Thursdays 2-7 pm. We visited on a free Thursday. For parking at the museums parking lot you need to pay $8. The museum is not that big. It will 40 mins-1hour depending on you. Clean restrooms. Whether youre a student, a family, or just curious about health, this museum offers something for everyone. A must-visit destination in Houston!

I was excited to visit this museum seeing as my kid and never been to a museum that focused on the human body. I was disappointed. The colon kids and crawl though is neat, but there little explanation on what a colon does in the body. The brain with the neurons you would walk into looked so cool, but then the neurons didn t fire and there was just a video to watch inside. Overall the museum was so close to make amazing connections, and it just didn t. Many of the displays could use some maintenance and were not fully functional.

This museum is such a delight! My family had a great time. There was a big exhibition on hard drugs which I appreciate. I love to explain and expose my young kids to this topic so that they can be aware of the dangers, and to teach them to make right choices. I liked it that they provided vital information like the Houston community outreach for the masses because not everyone knew about it. There were interactive activities and brain teasers around for kids and adults to play with. There was a lab for kids to do hands-on activities which you had to purchase a ticket for it. Ticket for entry into the lab isn t part of the general admission ticket. Today there was an event at the museum whereby the back of the museum and the theater were out of bounds. This was a bummer. There isn t a proper cafeteria in the museum. There are only two vending machines and two tables with chairs outside the restrooms. It is best to pack snacks for kids. There is paid parking in front of the museum. However free parking is available at Hermann Park. It is only a 2mins walk from the Hermann Park parking lot to the museum.

This is a wonderful little museum! The DEA exhibit about the effect of drugs, and fentanyl in particular, on our society and region, is worth a visit. I highly recommend taking your teens and tweens and using the exhibit to start some deep conversations, as difficult as that can be, but there are many tools and resources here, and interactive pieces, that will help. We really enjoyed the over sized organs, the dissection lab and the Cell Lab activities. It doesn t take a long time to go through, but can be tailored to your schedule easily, to take a little longer or be much shorter. All in all, a terrific morning spent with my kids.

For the first time, I explored the Health Museum on Saturday. I was given a Veterans Day discount of $5. Its not a large museum, but it does contain a fair amount of information relevant to general health knowledge. I think it would be a great resource for coming of age teenagers. The most prominent and provocative exhibit, in my opinion, was their displays about drugs and drug abuse. It included details about street drugs, prescription drugs, tragic stories of loss, and the institutional history of drug prevention programs. Along with vibrant interactive exhibits about the body, there are also dedicated displays about plagues like the Bubonic Plague, Covid-19, and the AIDS epidemic of the 80s. Its definitely worth a visit.

Amazing place The Health Museum is a truly amazing and educational place. Inside its walls, you can embark on a fascinating journey into our own bodies and unravel the mysteries hidden within us. This place provides a unique opportunity to understand how our body and brain function. Visiting the Health Museum, you will immerse yourself in the world of neuronal connections and witness them in action. Its a remarkable sight that helps us comprehend how information is transmitted and processed inside our brains. Youll delve into microscopic details that often go unnoticed and see how every cell and molecule in our body collaborates to sustain our lives. Moreover, at the Health Museum, you can observe the incredible process of childbirth. Its a unique opportunity to witness how new life comes into the world and how each stage of human development unfolds. A visit to the Health Museum is not only a captivating adventure but also an important educational experience. This place allows us to better understand and appreciate the remarkable intricacies of our bodies and their functions. I would strongly recommend everyone to visit this museum to dive into the world of health and science

So many great fun things to do while learning. The older ones need to experience the DEA area. We had a private overnight Girl Scout event.

My visit to the Health Museum was an engaging and educational experience thats particularly well-suited for families with young children. I came on a Thursday when admission is entirely free from 2 pm to 7 pm. The museum stands out for its interactive approach to learning. Its a place where you dont just view exhibits but actively participate in them. This hands-on aspect is especially appealing for young visitors and families. I recommend the Health Museum to families with children aged 12 and under. Come and check it out for yourself and bring your young ones along for an unforgettable experience. My 1-year-old had a blast!

Excellent museum of medical sciences, the representation of the organs of the human body allowed me to give a scientific explanation to my nephew, my tour guide. (I am a doctor)

This place is very cute, interactive, and informative. However, I probably would not visit again as the experience is more closely catered to children as opposed to all ages. The cost of admission was a bit high and the gift shop prices are not for the faint of heart. Finding free parking nearby is a bit of a challenge and it is not very clear at first that tickets to the museum are to be purchased at the gift shop. Overall it was a pleasant little excursion and I do not regret visiting.

This was the best place to go before we love our health. Did this for my birthday in 2023.

This museum is a MUST go to with the kids! The visuals and activities this museum provides for young learners just opens their minds! I was impressed to see the amount of information on the gut biome and its importance! The instructor who dissected a lamb heart was brilliant and answered all my kids questions with patience and kindness! The cell lab is so awesome! The intestines tunnel is a big hit! Do me a favor and just take your kids here!!
