Everything about J&Bs Cafe was wonderful! We were a little late for breakfast, but they still made it for us anyway, and you could tell the ingredients were fresh and good quality. We added an extra egg to our breakfast bowls, the eggs were fluffy and REAL (not always the case in breakfast places nowadays), and the bacon was cooked perfectly, not thin or greasy at all. The portions were perfect! We came because of the great coffee and were not disappointed. Do yourself a favor: skip the oversized plates of junk you get at an IHOP or Dennys, and instead support a real gem of Harlingen downtown. The courteous servers and comfortable decor far exceed what you might find at some corporate chain, and your stomach will thank you for it!

Cool, eclectic, local lunch spot with a bright atmosphere and old-school flavor. Great lunch specials board and solid menu with American fare. Friendly, low key, comfortable, and very popular with those in-town and in-the-know. Very reasonable prices! In an artsy section of town with many antique stores and historic architecture. Definitely a great place to visit when looking for an alternative to strip malls and highways. Breakfast and Lunch, 7 to 3 pm, M-F. Closed Sat-Sun.

Owner asked my friends and I to move to the left at counter since we were together. I told her we were together, but separate. She proceeded to take orders from people behind us!! What kind of service is that!? People behind us were seated with their orders before I even put in my order! Had I been alone, I wouldve left. I told cashier I was mad. My parents came down to visit and we decided to give this place a try. First off, the food was great, the dessert was EVEN better. I was not a huge fan of the iced coffee, but I also got it unflavored so might try again with flavor. The service, however, was THE best Ive seen in quite some time! While there, the lovely waitress was an absolute blast to speak with. Very engaging and offered help with ordering. Another dear lady there was also very kind and made dessert suggestions, but most importantly of all of this, literally RAN after us a good couple hundred yards down the way as we left the restaurant and my husbands very sentimentally important cap he left on the table. This was also during market days! It is his old units hat from Georgia and it means a lot to him and she ran it all the way to us! I am so incredibly thankful, as is he. These people go above and beyond for you there. The food just makes it better

My sister-in-law wanted to try this restaurant for lunch as I was visiting from San Antonio. I m so glad we did the restaurant is super cute and the ambiance was friendly and casual. I felt as if we were in a Time Machine literally the whole downtown/J & B s Cafe was so nostalgic!! The food was delicious and the coconut cream pie was amazing!! Excellent customer service:) Parking: Street parking was found quickly across the street from the restaurant.

Wonderful Cafe. Great coffee, had the Chai Latte and it was perfect. The staff are friendly and will check on you when youre eating. The food is fantastic, I had the Buffalo Mel. The sauce wasnt super spicy so I was able to enjoy it. Its definitely worth stopping by when you are walking Jackson street. Has a cozy feeling. Was there for the 1st time over a month ago with my sister. We met Mrs. Beth the owner at that time. We introduced ourselves & told her a little about ourselves. Today was our 2nd visit since that day. Beth greeted us by our name, remembered where I worked...even went as far as remembering my birthday! Wow what a memory & way of making you feel not only welcomed but to know that she was actually listening. I mean that respectfully. We are in such a hurry these days that not many truly stop to listen. Service is & was AWESOME again & Mrs Beth along w/Dee topped off our experience by slicing up some of that delicious red velvet cake & lighting a candle all the while singing Happy Birthday!!! What a sweet soul! May the Lord continue to bless their business abundantly. Highly highly recommend!!! Oh btw, tomato basil soup is absolutely wonderful!

This is a delightful local favorite that has been around for decades in downtown Harlingen! The new ownership has carefully and respectfully renovated the interior with an eye towards honoring the history of Harlingen. A great place to get history lessons of our city as well as home cooked food. Beth, one of the owners, is a true delight and makes it feel life a CHEERS episode with her hearty hugs and welcome smile. They have a great deli menu and burgers are amazing. BREAKFAST SCONES and LATTES are a great pairing as well.

I was in town from Tullahoma,TN visiting my folks. My dad frequents J&Bs. I went with him to meet some of the locals. I had a great experience and Beth and John were both fine people. My little sissy Hilda and I have only been there one other time over a month ago. Much to surprise, Beth remembered us and remembered that my little sissys Birthday was November 11th. At the end of our meal, she surprised Hilda with a slice of red velvet cake and a happy birthday dedication. Very nice small town atmosphere. As we waited for our food, at least 3 random people walked in and were greeted by the staff by name, as well as my gf who hasnt been there in 5 or 6 years. Its the kind of food I would make and a wonderful place to go to lunch with a friend. Bright and cheerful interior and a good downtown Harlingen location for visiting the stores that line Jackson Street.

This local dive is wonderful!!! I order from here as often as I can for my office. They have the nicest staff and the owners are as sweet as can be, Beth always greets me by my first name and a smile. They have a great little menu to choose from with several options and they are locally owned, who doesnt love giving back to our community!!
