About the Company
rating: 4.8
The Presidio, established in 1749 on this site during the Spanish colonial period, was crucial to the development of Texas. Witnessing filibustering expeditions and playing a role in the Mexican war for independence from Spain, the Presidio was the site of the Goliad Massacre on Palm Sunday, March 1836. It played host to one of the bloodiest chapters in Texas' quest for independence from Mexico after the shocking Texian defeat at the Battle of Coleto Creek. The massacre prompted the rallying cry, "Remember Goliad" heard at the Battle of San Jacinto.

This Place Is AWESOME They Say This Place Is Haunted. Have I Got News For You It Is Haunted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When We Went At Night, We Got Out Of The Car And Started Walking To And Into The Presidio la Bahia. It Was Eerily Quiet It Was Scarily Quiet We Had Goosebumps And Chills And We Didn t Know Why. Then About 3 o clock In The Morning We Started Hearing Noises. We re Inside The Fort In The Middle Of The Fort Itself. Then We Saw Something, We Couldn t Believe It. Our Jaws Dropped. We Saw The Apparitions Of Colonel Fannin,His Troops And Some Mexican Soldiers At The Big Opening Doors Of The Presidio la Bahia. They Was Looking At Me And My Wife Like We Were Nuts Then Out Of The Wild Blue Something Extraordinary Happened Again. Gene Simmons And KISS Showed Up. We Couldn t Believe Our Eyes On One Side Of The Complex It Was Colonel Fannin And His Troops And Right On The Side Of Colonel Fannin, It Was KISS. TOTALLY UNBELIEVABLE Then Someone Mentioned BarBQue. Next Thing We Knew And Seen. KISS s Roadies Was BarBQuing In The La Presidio la Bahia. Lord,We Was Rocking And The Food Was Smelling Good Next Thing We Seen Was Colonel Fannin And His Troops Was Rocking To Rock And Roll All Nite With KISS. Lord, That Was A Spectacle And The Next Thing, Me And The Wife Was Rocking Too The BarBQue Was Great Brisket,Ribs,Sausage,Chicken. It Was DELICIOUS We Had A Blast My Understanding, Colonel Fannin Passed The Word To Gene And The Guys. That The Word Was, You Think We Had A Blast This Year, Wait Till Next Year Ain t Nothing Like Rocking At La Presidio la Bahia We Will Come Back Next Year For More Fun And Excitement

Awesome place to learn some Texas history. We happened to come on a day that they had games. The characters running the games were so very nice. My 3 year old had the best time interacting with them. There is much to learn about and appreciate here. After having read about the history, seeing the Presidio in person was a special experience. You must come here for the re-enactment that is done to commemorate the massacre and the battle at Coleto Creek. They also do an emotionally compelling dramatic re-enactment of the final hours of these men who died for Texas freedom. Every Texan should be required to experience this special tribute on the hallowed ground of the presidio.

Came here for the first time with my kids. Pretty informative history right here. This place was recommended to us to check out since we were driving through. I honestly didn t even know anything about this place and its history. The admissions fee was dirt cheap to enter. We watched a short movie about the history of this place before walking around to see old artifacts and info. They have a beautiful courtyard and Chapel. The Fannin monument is down the street from here. Parking is small, but there s street parking. The staff are really friendly.

My wife and I enjoyed touring this place, and its a really cool part of Texan history. Go check out the nearby Fannin Memorial Monument as well since the Texan Colonel Fannin and his men were executed at the Presidio La Bahia and later buried under the memorial . Go visit the Mission Espiritu Santo going north up Hwy 183 and turning left on Park Rd 6 from there (about a half-mile or so) so you dont miss out on this gem as well. There is a restaurant called La Bahia which is very near this place, and I highly recommend it for a tasty lunch!
