This place is so cool! I am so glad we went. I got a couple of boxes of incense and this little cutie for my altar. Were gonna try to go back next year when we visit again. My town doesnt have a witchy store, so I normally have to buy online. I went in looking for a Hekate statue, but I found her instead. Next time Ill need more money to spend.

When it comes to herbs and candles this is a great place to go however the statues are overpriced they saying that theyre antiques they clearly are not. I would also be careful to the non witches that are there just looking around the place whoever owns it does deal with some kind of demonology you can feel it in the air

Great store, awful tarot reader. Firstly, The Witchery is beautifully stocked! Books abound on any magickal subject you can list, as well as tomes on new age philosophies. Beautiful jewelry, devotional statuettes, and altar tools. I think I stared down the tarot cabinet for a good minute; it contained a wide variety of unique decks! Whatever you need for your spiritual practice, you are likely to find here. However, you wont find a good tarot reading. I dont consider myself professional, but I have read tarot for others many times and have always received positive feedback. That said, I seldom read for myself. Being emotionally invested in my own life, I often fret over whether my personal readings are as impartial as they should be. So I thought Id consult a professional! It was a cold reading. And I should have known when I passed the tarot readers nook whilst she was reading for a mother with her child, and I heard her began to fixate on the womans nurturing nature. When it was my turn in the booth, I was prepared with questions I was seeking guidance through, and she stumbled and sputtered until she asked me my birthday, consulted something under the table, and then starred yammering about stereotypes attributed to my sun sign. She asked if Id lost anyone lately, a question not at all related to my request, and then started to speak for a lost loved one. The reading ended with her letting me know Im fat. Its been about a year since I visited The Witchery, and maybe they host a different tarot reader now! But regardless of who is pulling cards, I still very much enjoyed my purchases. I burned my last stick of Song of India temple incense this week, and it smelled just as gorgeous as the day I got it. Stop by! But beware of cold readers.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. They have great stuff but staff is very rude especially if you have a child. Do not take your kids here! They are very aggressive and will yell at your kids not to touch anything. Do not recommend this place for families.

We have came here on mothers Day and I have my kids 5 and 7. Immediately were were told kids have to stay with parents. Of course, no problem. So We were all just looking at cool looking boxes together and my kids were right beside me, this lady just basically yelled at us infornt of everyone we dont lets kids touch the merchandise!! It was almost shocking. So we just left. It was a shame because we were going to be paying customers. We will never be back. Who ever was working that day will keep customers away. She was incredibly rude.

Its a beautiful store and had way more than what I was expecting. Tons of books and cards! I went just to look around and there was plenty to see. They have all kinds of stuff (crystals, jewelry, sage, knives, decor, journals, guides, and more), so its good for a variety of people. Ended buying some oils and incense. Lol It felt like a Hot Topic version of a witch store. The girls working were having weird conversations and werent really friendly. One followed my husband and I around pretty obviously like we were up to something. I was planning on buying some books but one of the main girls kept making eye contact with me over the other side of the bookshelf. Lol it was just weird so we left. Probably wont be coming back.

Esoteric, indeed! A fun stop in Galveston even for the non-witchy visitors. Plenty of interesting things to see besides books including cases of skulls, rocks and minerals, all kinds of figures from myth and legend, herbs and candles, beautifully crafted leather items, and sarcastic signs / decor. I believe the reviews about being strict with minors, bordering on unwelcoming to them, as the owner took extra notice of anyone with kids. I m guessing there might have been problems with damage from kids left unattended, and it s left a little overcorrection- I d just suggest keeping them close!

This is an awesome metaphysical shop! I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and I have yet to find another shop that had everything this one had. Nice store, good variety of items, but hardly anything I need is in stock. The owner is really rude & so are some of the workers. He thinks customers ruin the vibe when really its his negative energy. The only one who is nice is the lady w/ colored hair and tattoos. I still come when I can t wait for shipping. I just make sure I stay to myself and follow every one of their million rules. If you don t mind the drive, the purple ravens in league city has a good selection too and the customer service is A1 . They never seem annoyed.

This is the best place in the world. The owner really respects his customer and his hard earned establishment merchandise. All of the staff are remarkably knowledgeable and friendly. They will go out of their way to assist you while still ensuring that their own boundaries are respected. This has been a staple of the town for so long and I can see why. Absolutely adore this shop, have been a patron for over a decade. While some people struggle to obey by the rules, which are written all over the store, I.e. please don t allow your children to handle the merchandise (even if they re buying with their own funds) it s easy to understand why there are such rules. This used to be a place we loved to go to, today ended that love. We came into the store, myself, my husband, our 8 year old daughter, and our 9 year old niece. Both girls were very excited to go to the store. Both girls wanted to spend some of their trip money there. Let me just state that again, THEIR trip MONEY. Age aside, they intended to be consumers and spend THEIR MONEY there. From previous trips to the store, my husband and I always take turns. One of us shops while the other remains with the child/ren, then swap. We did the same today, I shopped while my husband stayed with the girls. Now, this has been a rough year for me, my mother passed on my birthday and today I specifically sought out items to guide me and heal me. Translation, I spent a good 35/40 minutes shopping. My husband let the girls pick the items they were purchasing. They did not pick up everything in the store, they did not rifle through the books, they did not move the candles, they did not pick up statues not encased. They simply picked the color candles they wanted and placed them into the basket. They picked the printed canvas they wanted and put it right in the basket. This was no different from previous trips. When I was ready to switch with my husband, I found them by the stones. They had already placed the stores they wanted in the basket. They were so HAPPY to show me their stones, and I asked them questions about the ones they picked. Stones are one of my favorites, so I starting telling them what certain stones were used for/as. They were interested in obsidian when I told them one of its properties is protection. They began searching for the perfect obsidian for them. I m a firm believer that you cannot just have someone else pick your stone. It was at that time the owner sauntered over, picked up - off the ground - the metal sign stating children were not to touch anything, and very firmly put it back down while looking at me saying, I m just going to move this sign so it s read better by parents. I was completely caught off guard because in all of the times we d even been in there before the owner was never abrasive, rude, or displayed such a negative aurora. I told him that what they touched they put in the basket, that they were spending their own money. His reply I don t want them touching anything at all, this was said while his face was the most condescending I ve seen in my life to date. My husband saw my demeanor change and came over. I asked him if during the time I was shopping and he had the girls, if the owner said anything to them or looked disgusted with them. He answered no. I asked if the girls picked their own candles, stones, and printed canvases or if he did. He said no, I let them pick what they wanted. I told him the interaction with the owner and he said he was done looking if I wanted to go through my items again to be sure I wanted each item. I grabbed out all of my items and told him I wouldn t be able to purchase anything from this store with such hostility and negativity in the atmosphere. I put each item back in its correct location. We didn t take the girls joy of being consumers and making their purchase away. They still got their items, but at the last second I had my husband use our money instead. I couldn t in good conscience let them spend their travel money in that atmosphere. After the transaction I informed the ladies at the check out that I have never felt that uncomfortable in there before today. They did apologize I felt that way. I then said the owner was very rude. They responded, well it s a hard rule children cannot touch anything. I informed her that the items they touched they put in the basket and were purchased and that nothing was said until I was with them at the stones taking over for my husband who had let them pick their stones. The response well he was in the back and didn t see that. Someone please tell me, how a man who hates children so much, didn t see them until I TOOK OVER WATCHING THEM?!?! So, CHILDREN & MOTHERS are most certainly not welcome in his domain.

I dont understand how all the negative reviews are true. We walked in today, 2 April 2023, just to browse around and check it out. We had a large service dog, a 14 yr old and a 10 yr old. The folks were warm and the store was inviting and we felt immediately calm when walking in. The owner got a little short with my 14 yr old when he went to pay for his items and asked where his parent was, I raised my hand over the book shelves and said right here (Im short and hard to see behind tall shelves), he gave a simple ok and checked my son out no issues. We even had a laugh over why I was buying the sage spray. The experiences reflected here just dont mesh with the experience we had today. No problem with our kids or dog. But again my kids are respectful and our dog tried to make himself as small as possible and not knock into things. I also knew what we needed and am knowledgeable.

I was told I have to leave back room with my kids because there was a Physic reading happening. I went to the store just to get Sage to be told I cant even go into the I needed to. The didnt tell anyone else about being back there. No my where not being overly load. They where happy to be at the store and look around. The woker made my 4 year old cry. Very disappointed in the staff.

Always a wonderful place. Its incredibly clean and organized. The staff are so wonderful and I absolutely love visiting this place. They have a nice selection of crystals tumbled and raw alike, especially considering their small location. Their book selection is also varied from pagan selections to conspiracies! The atmosphere is cool as heck and it smells wonderful in there they have candles, crystals, books, incense, herbs, statues, and oils! Anything you could ever need! I highly recommend this place!!

Ive been here twice in the last 5 years and I know this place has a reputation. I also travel the US and visit metaphysical shops as a hobby -there are some very bad shops out there and this isnt one of them. It has more books on offer than most shops, which are categorized. It also has a lot of home decor and altar figures, which I think is great. Most places focus on a massive selection of [questionable] small stones, incense, and the love and light crowd. As for the staff being rude, I think what could be part of the issue is the woman there appears to be foreign born. Meaning she possibly wasnt raised with Americas ridiculous customer service standards. Regardless, thats just a guess based off my observation. I had no issues with her at all and she was patient with me and my husband, who always has extra questions. Honestly, some of the visitors had worse vibes than the staff.

The witchery has been my go to magical shop for about seven years now. I really appreciate the knowledgeable shop owner, Clyde. He has always been so kind to me, and has helped me with any of my questions. Kim has always been so nice when I cant decide on a book or when I cant figure out what a crystal is good for. Ksenia has been extremely helpful as well, she has heard me just talk her ear off about all my problems in life, and has been very helpful to suggest candles, tarot decks, oils or incense that has been beneficial. Everyone there really knows what they are talking about and it is so helpful, I am so glad to have this shop here in Galveston!

What an awesome and mysterious place! The moment I stepped in I sensed the intense moon energy vibrating through the pleasant incense and candle smells. I did not want to leave because it was a place of acceptance and calm, where the occult and arcane from all corners of the world have been transposed via books, wind chimes, paintings, and amulets. Definitely returning!

Bougie spot for TikTok-informed witchy products, low quality crystals, and overpriced gifts ripped directly from every Witches of Instagram advertisement reel you ve ever seen. The owner -the bargain bin Anton LaVey guy - is rude at best and transparently predatory on average. He s a talented marketer; that s not a compliment. There s a reason nearly all the good reviews of this place come from women under 25 - they re the only demographic he makes an effort to be helpful or friendly towards. Draw your own conclusions. The verdict? Stick with The Magic Cauldron or your local brujeria. There s nothing here you won t already see in your social media feed, misogyny included.

Let me start by saying I live in Galveston and my nieces come visit often and they love to go here. I have always enjoyed browsing this shop as well. However, my friend wanted to go here to get a Christmas gift for her daughter. She was in the back area with her phone on face time so her daughter could see the items that her mother wanted to buy her. My friend wasnt loud or rude, just shopping. The girl that worked there told my friend to get off the phone and be quiet. Her daughter heard it all and they say the girl was very rude. My friend was upset and left immediately. When she explained what happened (I was in the front area and not that far away but didnt hear anything). I went in to let the owner know what his clerk had done and he called me a Karen and just said bye. I didnt raise my voice or accuse anyone, just wanted to let management know the girl just lost a customer and a sale. Will never go or take anyone else to this store again.

This humble abode is GREAT! We felt like Family, the minute we walked in. The owner instantly walked up and introduced himself us.
