Could not get into the suite until after 5:30pm. Rooms not ready, they lied so many times, manager said he would check into it and never came. Extremely poor check in service. We were one of many couples waiting. Will never go back there. Good luck to everyone else.

The service is great. They are all very friendly and very friendly. Elevator floors need an extra hard scrubbing. Fishing pier is within walking distance. Not a good location if youre looking to be closer to the action, but a great location if youre looking for peace, quiet, and pure relaxation. Nearby activities: Nothing in walking distance except the beach and the fishing pier. Safety: A very safe and quiet area. Food and drinks: Nothing in walking distance, except the fishing pier. Loads of places that are less than a 5 minute drive away.

Lovely place! I was a bit nervous because of some of the other feedback. The staff were friendly and helpful. The entilre building had this nice pleasant crisp clean smell. Breakfast was well stocked. And il did not mind crossing the somewhat busy road to enjoy the crashing waves of the ocean. The weather kindof sucked

I travel to Galveston quite often, I always try and stay at a different hotel to just change up the experience, and I gotta say this was the worst one so far, it starts with the elevators, my suggestion, never take the left elevator, it s really sketch, it shakes, makes some weird noise, Parking garage button doesn t work, avoid left elevator at all cost. Then we go to our room, and the sheets have a weird stain, the balcony fence bolts are rusted and broken, it moves quite a bit with just one person leaning on it, more then one person leans on I would be worried, the hotel phone didn t work, the latch that secures the doesn t wasn t even secure to the door, how s it going to secure me? Breakfast was decent, best part about the whole experience was the crispy bacon and the pancake converbelt maker

Room was fine. Nice balcony. Clean. Service was fine. What was NOT AT ALL fine is that the pool was shut down AND that the breakfast buffet was shut down - both under the guise of construction. These were the two of the three primary reason I researched and chose this location to book a vacation stay for a friend and her family. The IHG website showed pictures of both and descriptions of both. No notice anywhere that they were not functional. What a HUGE disappointment! I did not find out about this until the stay was over as she did not want to seem ungrateful by bringing it up. What a joke this place was. Deceptive practices! I deserve at the very least a partial refund. Noteworthy details: The pool and breakfast are shut down. Which is most certainly NOT a detail. Ugh!!!

They are repairing after the hurricane so outside of building and the rooms look kind of janky BUT breakfast and service was A-1. Lady this morning in the breakfast area was super attentive and helpful. Breakfast itself was....kind of amazing. Really redeemed everything else. I am 100% staying here again.

Any review over 2 stars is a fake. Buyer beware. Our room wasnt ready until 4:30. The checkin staff were very rude to everyone waiting for their room. The lobby was not clean or maintained. Not welcoming at all. The room was moldy. Not enough towels. But by far the breakfast experience was the worst.. The attendant could not be found, the food was not refilled, no coffee for both mornings, the counter tops were a mess. There were so many flies in the area that you had to guard your plate. Totally gross. Not the standard we expected from IHG.

I booked two rooms during June 2024, and here s my bizarre experience: First off, the hotel had a lot of outside construction, which made it look ugly. Secondly, the pool was completely closed, and we were told to go to other hotel pools. Thirdly, our rooms were not clean at all. There were boogers on the wall, unclean toilet seats, and stained bed sheets. Fourthly, we had to manually request housekeeping, and when they finally arrived hours later, they did not restock the toilet paper. I had to go to the lobby myself to get some. Fifthly, the breakfast at this IHG hotel is half as good as what s offered at others. Other hotels neatly organize the breakfast items and clearly label them with their own scooping utensils. This one did not do any of that. Sixthly, the hotel has a mold/mildew problem. The smell is very noticeable in the rooms. Lastly, and most importantly, I got a call from the hotel informing me I was late to check out one of my rooms. They messed up my reservation and only gave me one night when I booked two. Even after showing them the email with the exact booked dates, they still gave me a hassle and did not apologize for their mistake. The lady with a messy bun and black hair was very rude and unwelcoming. She does not belong in the hospitality business based on how she treated us. P.S. I strongly believe this hotel has many fake reviews, as they rate it five stars when it s at best a two-star hotel. Oh and I forgot, the ac did not work at one of our rooms. The ONLY thing I liked about this hotel was the Asian lady on the breakfast staff. She is the most welcoming, positive, and helpful employee I have had the pleasure of meeting at any IHG hotel; she needs a raise. Also, I did not like the way her coworker (white lady) would talk to her as it was very assertive in the wrong way.

The staff was excellent and did everything they could. With that said, highly disappointed that I spent $300 a night for two nights at this hotel. It was advertised that you could walk to the beach since it s on the sea wall. However, there s no cross walk within a mile and we were forced to cross 5 lanes of traffic with little kids without a safe place to cross. After we did that once, we said never again. We ended up having to pay an additional $45 to park on the sea wall. We had to get in our car and drive across the street from our beach front hotel. We chose to stay on the sea wall because we were traveling with two little kids and we wanted to walk across to the beach. We could have spent $400 less and stayed somewhere else since we still had to drive. Then there was the condition of the hotel. It was under construction. I would not have booked if I knew it was under construction. Do not claim it was storm damage. We live in the Houston area and I know that Galveston has not been affected by a major storm from the time I booked late May to now. Both sides of the front was having stucco work done. Then the pool was closed. We also booked because of the pool. Now to the condition of the building and room. It seems recently renovated but everything was extremely poorly done and obviously had corners cut everywhere. Carpets did not meet the walls, paint lines were everywhere, trim missing everywhere, poorly done patch jobs on dry wall, cracked tiles, missing grout, mildew I could keep going. The floor in our room had major rolling slops. It was truly a safety hazard. I managed to get a picture of the floor where you can see it dip down, go up, and dip down again. The doors don t go all the way to the floor so you can also hear everything in the rooms or in the hall. We were also given a crib with some type of fabric that was absolutely not a crib sheet. It was lose and a safety hazard for my baby. We also passed a giant dumpster with a dirty mattress hanging out around 8 or so times. The pull out sofa also had stains that looked like pee and blood on it. Positives: staff was excellent, great view, good breakfast (especially the breakfast staff) Cons: false advertising to walk to the beach, under construction, closed pool, poorly renovated, safety concerns with floors and crib

Had a wonderful experience there. Had a one night getaway with my 2 year old Granddaughter. From check in to check out the staff was amazing. I arrived a bit early but L had a room available for me and checked me right in. She was super kind and helpful. The breakfast selection was amazing offering omelettes, pancakes and both bacon and sausage. The woman who does the breakfast is also amazing and Im sorry I forgot her name. I even had a small balcony. Nearby activities: Pleasure Pier was 9 minutes by car. Nearby activities: Directly across from the seawall. Walking distance to the beach. We booked a suite but upon arrival was told there were none available. The desk clerk was alone with no housekeeping staff or additional clerks to assist him. He was clearly annoyed. The wi-fi did not work. The network would not even show up as an option on my phone. The ice machine was broken. I used a large number of points to book this room. I am very disappointed that my points were wasted on this substandard hotel. Walkability: Walkable to the beach.

The good: Friendly employees, good location, low price. The bad: -The blinds were missing so we couldnt block the extra bright outside security light from shining into the room while we were trying to sleep. -The whole place felt oddly unfinished. For example, much of the carpet in the halls and room didnt meet the walls and often had a jagged edge. They had freshly applied wet leveler spread out on the floor, but no signs or ropes to keep people way from it which was odd. -I woke up to a large cockroach running across my bare chest at 3am. We were out of the room shortly after that. To their credit, every employee I talked to was friendly and seemed to do the best they could. But in the end, it didnt work out. Of the many dozens of Holiday Inn Expresses weve stayed in, it was the first time we left early.

My experience at this hotel would ve been much better if not for the staff. We booked 1 night and called in to be sure that we could get a room reserved from 2 AM since we were traveling from out of state and that s when we would arrive Galveston. They confirmed we could check in by 2 AM but instead when we got there, the person at the front desk was very Dismissive, rude and not welcoming at all. He refused to give us the room which we requested for that night and repeatedly told us i can t help you then told us we could sleep in the hotel computer room until any rooms open up.(keep in mind we called to clarify reservations for the time of the night) So ridiculous!! I am pregnant and traveled all the way just to sleep on the hotel computer room floor? We ended up having to sleep in the hotel computer on the floor, which no one paid any mind to us. Later that morning, they still did not give us a room until I had to remind the front desk person to let us in the room. They ended up giving us a random room, it was not the specific room that we booked. I did not like the room whatsoever and whenever we would request for simple things such as towels, they would never bring them. We decided to go to the pool/hot tub later that day and we couldn t even enjoy that. The pool was filthy, and the hot tub was not working! The hotel lobby also reeked. overall my experience was horrible and I was especially very disappointed because It was not worth the price I paid, which was the total of $113, with a $25 fee they promised would be refunded but they never did. If anything I want my money back at least part of it. For the price i paid, I was treated as though I had Lodged into a motel 6. At some point of the day i cried myself to sleep because it was not the vacation experience i wanted since i m pregnant, and i d appreciate some type of compensation for this terrible service. They need to do better.

They buy fake bot positive reviews to up their score. We only got this place because we didnt see the fake reviews. I was so disappointed I had to come back and recheck the reviews because for sure ain t no way there s all these 10/10 scores! We were intentionally deceived. See screenshots of it. There s more but I just didn t screen shoot all of them. When we got there, the overwhelming stench of mold and mildew overcame us. I thought ok, maybe it s just the lobby. When we got to our room on the 2nd floor, it was worse! I couldn t even breathe and had to keep the door open for hours in order to breathe. Everything in this hotel felt moist. The uneven floors, the beds, the pillows, comforters, towels. I noticed at breakfast a lot of people were coughing. Uh probably because we all breathed in mold all night! Wish we never sucked it up and stayed here but it was late and we were so exhausted. On the way out of the ladies room by the lobby, a woman had complained to me of the smell without me even prompting it! I told her it did smell for my family too and how wet our room felt! Just don t want you and your family to experience the same and breathe in a night of mold and mildew. There are other hotels along this trip. Pay the $50 more and save your health and have a better nights rest. SMH. Thank me later!

We were a little concerned when we pulled up and saw the front desk area, the elevators, and the cleanliness of the hallways, but when we entered our room we were pleasantly surprised. It was very large with a wonderful balcony facing the gulf. Fantastic view. The bed was very comfortable and the pillows were perfect. We were disappointed that they advertised a hot tub but when we used it, it was barley heated and the jets werent strong at all. The water pressure in the shower made me wonder if I was going to get all the soap out of my hair. One of the great things about this room were the blackout shades. They were very effective and kept the room very dark and made it very easy to sleep. It was also very quiet. Overall, it was good for the price. It is farther down the seawall, so the beach wasnt crowded right across the street. That was very nice.

I made reservations in early March to stay in one of the suits this last wknd that overlooks the ocean for my daughter & my grandkids. We have not been able to go on vacation even just to Galveston in over 10 yrs. I was fighting breast cancer then my oldest daughter passed away so needless to say we hav not gone anywhere so this weekend was one we were all looking forward to! We arrived Friday around 5:30pm and they couldn t find our reservation and all the suits were BOOKED!! I could not believe what was happening! I thought our weekend was over & what could have been a nightmare weekend was turned around by Robert! Robert is the young man that works at the front desk. He finally found my reservation but still there were no rooms like I had booked available so he put us in two rooms next door to each other & told me that in the morning he was hoping one of the suits would come available. Oh and were were not being charged for the other room. The rms weren t facing the ocean and that was disappointing but at least we were able to stay. So the next day came and no suite opened up so the amazing yijng lady that works at the desk offered for us to keep the 2nd room another night and she would give us half off our stay! They definitely made it right and the kids my daughter & I were happy! The breakfast was very nice, kids loved the pancake maker!!! We were rt dwn the road from all of Galvestons attractions & fun stuff to do & I can t say enough how amazing the ppl at this hotel are!! From Robert & the other young lady god i wish I cld remember her name to the ppl that worked in the breakfast area and anyone else we came in contact with! We stayed here 10 years ago & now again this weekend and will definitely be back!! Thank you all for being such great people!!!! Rooms: Beds were very comfortable sheets & blankets were clean and I am really picky lol I bring my own sheets etc but felt comfortable actually using there s lol. Nearby activities: Most of the attractions in Galveston are just minutes away! You can either take your car dwn to it all or rent a bike or one of those go cart cars they have now! Safety: I definitely feel safe here. There s always someone at the front desk watching all that s happening! The doors are locked and you must have a key to get into the rooms etc! Walkability: This hotel is a little further dwn then some of the others so walking is still doable but I d take my car. Being a little further down tho makes this hotel a quieter place for me to stay. Not so much traffic. Food and drinks: When you pull out of the hotel just turn left and you will see Landrys, Giudos Rainforest cafe and so many more

Ihg group should be shy to have this hotel in their group. Service really rotten except for the guy at the front desk. He is the only good one there. The only issue with the service is the customer. We are disturbing the worker. They prefer to be somewhere else than greeting customer. The last night I was there i went to get more coffee cup (net decaf) and i waited for at least 10 mins. Suddenly after calling the reception (not with the room phone. Cause broken) the lady came. She said sorry i was not out for long time. She was smoking instead of helping customer. Cleary she made me understood that i had disturbed her during her f . ! Cigaret. Once back in my room i saw here again from my balcony smoking outside. Talking about the room. Seriously worst room in Texas. Dirt all over the floor. Lack of pressure in the shower. No cold water. Ac unit making more noise than a truck. Cigaret odour and more. Hope IHG sees all the negative comments and take them out.

After being treated terribly at this location a few years ago, we decided to give it another try since prior to the bad experience, things were always great. Well they are back to being great!! The staff was so friendly, helpful and professional, we have no complaints at all. The breakfast was plentiful and the area was clean. The mildew smell issue... this is an older hotel that sits directly at the Seawall. For those of you that dont seem to understand the concept of hurricanes and beachfront life, you probably should just go vacation at a high roller place or just stay away from beachfront properties all together. Some people are more sensitive than others and I myself can be quite sensitive but I am never bothered by anything there...anyways, the pool there was amazing, so clean and the area was kept up on. The only downside were the 2 hot tubs dont bubble but that would not be enough to make us not want to come back. Our room was close to perfect and the view was great. We will be back for sure and I hope the same staff that was there this time will still be there when we return....thank yall for making our stay so great!!

Honestly, wow! IHG SHOULD REMOVE THIS HOTEL FROM THEIR BRAND! Its almost shameful that IHG can have such quality elsewhere and then have this hotel tied to their name. Upon entering the facility we were followed in by the gal running the front desk. She seemed preoccupied by a guy out in a mini van in the breezeway. She had no personality and was very dry with any info that she gave. The hotel smelled so strongly of mildew as soon as the front slider entry opened into the lobby. The strong mildew smell did not stop there unfortunately. All the way from the lobby up to our room on the second floor the mildew smell persisted. That was all outside our room. When we entered the room we found it in good order except that the top pillow case on one side of the bed was heavily stained and again, the smell of mildew was so strong you could almost taste it We chose to stay here only because there was no refund option. If given the option we would have paid twice as much to not stay here. Our two nights sleep was met with sleeplessness because of the smell. There was nowhere you could go to escape it! Im surprised that the health department hasnt gotten involved. There were obvious signs of black mold you can see in the pics and they definitely try to mask it by turning the AC on at the lowest temperature possible. On a positive note we can say that the breakfast staff was on point. They had a decent menu ready as part of your hotel purchase. They were pleasant and kept the food stocked. Moving forward, a note to IHG, remove this location from your brand. They are definitely tarnishing your name. Horrible front desk service met with very obvious health risks. We are considering calling the city to see if this indeed is a health risk. Rooms: Mildew on the walls and near the AC unit. Mildew on the ceiling Nearby activities: Not much but very close to the beach. Noteworthy details: Renter Beware! Mildew is strong in this hotel!

The hotel has a severe mold problem. When I first got to my room it was very cold and the AC had been set to 61. It seemed to be an attempt to mask the musty smell that became very apparent once I turned the temperature up and the air stopped blasting. There was mold growing on the walls and furnishings in multiple places. I asked to be switched to a different room, but the second one was even worse. My colleague also had mold in their room. We were supposed to be there all week but no longer felt comfortable doing so and found somewhere else to stay. Customer service was excellent, the gentleman working the desk was very kind and understanding. There was no problem switching me to a different room and no problem with a refund when we decided to stay elsewhere.

I booked a reservation for June 30th to July 2, 2023. When I arrived the night of June 30th. Walking into the building I could tell it was a old building because it smelled. I was given a room on the 4th floor with a balcony ocean view. When I walked into my room the floor had dips in it. You could tell the wall by the door that goes out to the balcony had water damage and maintenance painted over it. The bathroom had mold on the ceiling and water droplets. The room smelled like mold. I informed the lady at the front desk the next morning. I asked for a manager. The manager was not there. I was told she would be there in a hour. I waited because I wanted another room. After an hour manager still had not showed up so I checked out the morning of July 1st and went to another hotel. If you choose to stay at this location check your room, wall and ceiling. Staffs were generally good. Especially the front desk agent, Chance, was professional and friendly. Plenty of free parking during my stay and direct access to the rooms from the parking via elevator was a convenient feature. Unfortunately, the property feels too dark and dated. It is maintained, but I wouldnt say it is well maintained. The room had strong moldy + air freshener smell, so I think the hotel knows it is a problem but unable to fundamentally solve it. Outside noise was generally well insulated, but hall way noise came through the door easily. There are two other holiday inn properties on the beach that are similarly priced but looked better.

In town for a gymnastics competition with my family of 5. The first impression was that the location right across the street from the beach was great. Parking was easy and free. Check-in was smooth. The room itself was ok with a balcony facing the beach. 2 beds and a pull iut couch was great for our family. There were 3 or 4 spots on the hotel floor that felt very soft like we could fall through. The bathroom did not seem to be very clean with hair on the floor, tub, and toliet. There is no bedding for the pull out couch in the room. At the front desk the lady offered my daughter a candy bar since she was competing the next day. She also quickly got us everything we needed. Breakfast the next morning was so so. Eggs and sausage were ice cold, but the omelets and bacon was good. Checkout was 11 and I asked for a late checkout on a Sunday and was told 1130 was the absolute latest.

I was hesitant to book because of others reviews. I m glad i took the chance to see for myself because some of these other hotels are just so pricey. So, for an honest review, yes there are nicer hotels available for more money. As far as bugs, i didn t see any in our room or even inside the hotel, but there were BIG roaches outside, and even over at the gas station to the west. So do i think that it is the hotel s fault if you see bugs, no. I m sure it s just the area and the surroundings. I did not try the breakfast, we did go to the pool. And for the size of it, it was nice, and it was clean.

It was directly across the street from the beach which was extremely convenient and it was fairly clean considering the beach access. It did have that mildewy wet smell but that was to be expected considering the proximity to the beach. The a/c didn t really cool the room the way we would have wanted but that could have been user error. The free breakfast was less than subpar, hence the 4 star review.
