2024 Update: They have a change of ownership and everything seems to be improving from our experience so far. Food is ok but they certainly charge you premium for it. It would be justified to some folks if they server late night as they claimed on their schedule but the reality is they will just randomly drop your order if they dont feel like to do it, which would be acceptable if they let customer know right away, but nooo, they will accept it and have you wait for it and say sorry we couldnt fulfill it an hour later. I know because I work late and order from them from time to time and this happened way more often than it should, why am I still ordering from them you ask? Because only a handful of restaurants open at late night, we need more competition because restaurants like this got spoiled and wont suffer any consequences from actions like this and they know it.

Ive ordered from it many times and I really like the taste of it. Its just that the Maoxuewang has shrunk like this, so forget it because the portion is smaller now. The Maodu, I only saw it after eating it was so small. 2-3 pieces, don t bring them to bully the guests. It seems that the reviews have been closed now. This store definitely does not deserve 4 stars. After a new boss, I was not afraid of death and planned to try something new, but I didnt expect that the new boss would have the same virtue as the old one. When you click Doordash, your order will be confirmed but it will not be processed. It will make you wait for more than half an hour and then cancel your order if you feel bad. 80% of them will do this, and they don t allow comments. This way of operating this store is very problematic. One star is too much, and everyone is avoiding lightning. The food is just so so and so expensive. Even though Dallas is a Chinese food desert, you won t be ripped off by going to a restaurant like this. There are still many better barbecue restaurants than this one.

Super chill spot, relaxed vibe on a late friday night. Ordered a whole grip of different skewers, along with the pea shoots and oysters. Everything tasted super fresh, packed with flavor and some satisfying heat. On the pricier side for sure if youre ordering to fill up. My waiter was super helpful in identifying what skewers were which and had some great recommendations for future orders. Id love to come back with a group to try the whole fish and that soju watermelon I keep seeing around. Vegetarian options: Several veggie options, both as sides and grilled items. Some vegetarian rice and noodle options as well.

This place is great! Atmosphere is chill and cool and the staff is also really helpful with explaining the dishes. They know what they re doing and what they re talking about. Food is pretty good, some Chinese BBQ and some their main dishes. They even gave me a Lotus dessert, it is very refreshing. Highly recommended!

We ordered beef soup, shrimp balls, chicken, lamb and beef tendon kebabs. Beef soup and shrimp balls were okay. The kebabs were took forever to cook. I asked not to put kumin on my last kebabs but they forgot. We spent 1.5 hours there and most of the time was waiting for the kebabs. We dont like kebabs, loud music and the long wait.

Shockingly small kebabs. I m from NYC and this type of restuarants are everywhere in Chinatown there and they are usually 1-2 dollars but triple the size. 8$ for 3 babysize kebabs that are the size of my girl friend s thumb-nails is insane. Also if you order hot items and cold items (ice rice) they will just bag them together for you. Maybe they have no competition here but not cool

We had a skewer phase, and Yeon-Gil is probably one of the best in town out of all we tried. However, it s pricey, and you can t get full without spending quite a bit. The vibe and service are great, and it s very suitable as a late night snack. When in doubt, get the lamb skewer!

Saw an Instagram collab, looked cool but in person it was quiet and not busy... They dont take your order you have to do it on your phone... They give you hard cold peanuts... Extremely expensive! Still hungry after spending $30. I saw their posts of the skewers that looked huge but in person the chicken is skinny and tiny and only filled 1/3 of the stick. What a scam! We were severely misguided by the reviews. Extremely disappointed. Service and Atmosphere were good. But food was terrible. The overall seasoning is too sweet, and too salty. I could tell all kinds of Kabab were made with the exact same seasoning. Everything tastes like steamed instead of grilled. No color, no flavor. The kind of Oysters they chose are good oysters but its not suitable for grilling. It tastes really bad. Very disappointed. The service and environment are really good. Let s talk about the advantages first, the ingredients used are okay. The shrimps are very sweet and the scallops and oysters look quite fresh. The seasoning and grilling are really poor. Its obvious that the store doesnt care about the quality of their products at all. The overall seasoning is particularly salty and sweet, and all barbecues taste exactly the same. Its a waste of the original flavor of the fresh ingredients. Whats for barbecue? Its fireworks! There is no color at all on the barbecue. It looks like it was cooked in an air fryer at low temperature without any burning. The examinees skills on oysters and scallops were just passable. The scallops were overcooked and there were still some vermicelli that had not been soaked, even though we were the only guests at the table. Can t dim sum be used in the selection of oysters? The oysters are indeed fresh oysters, but there are so few oysters left after roasting that are so small that you cant even chew them. This is not barbecue at all. Too bad to eat. I really don t know how you can deceive people by getting so many high-scoring reviews. Really angry.

Overpriced poor cuts of meat. All hard and fatty. All with the same exact flavor and heavy powdered seasoning (tons of chili powder, cumin, garlic, salt, sugar). Very overpowering with dry spice dumped on everything. They even charged us over $40 for food (2 dishes) that we never even received. SCAM! You d think for the price they d give you real silverware. Nope. Plastic forks and one tissue thin napkin. We ordered a plate of giant oysters that came on huge shells 5 wide. The oyster was the size of a nickel and buried in about 2 TBs of minced garlic to fill the shell. Totally overcooked and tasted like a hard eraser. This place is a joke. Save your time and money and go elsewhere.

The food was good however the style is more towards bar food. Its the kind of place where you can have drinks, snacks, and participate in karaoke. Unfortunately, our experience with the service was subpar. The staff neglected to place candles on our grill to keep the skewers warm. The language barrier with our server led to misunderstandings, resulting in unaddressed requests or superficial agreement followed by the involvement of another server to fulfill our orders. We encountered a minor issue when their payment system went down, and another server displayed a somewhat negative demeanor. This was due to their system malfunctioning and the server assuming it was our fault. It took approximately 15 minutes for the system to rectify itself.

Decided to try this place because the photos looked good. But the only skewer we really liked was the premium beef. Everything else tasted the same, I guess because of the same seasoning they put on it. Its just not my cup of tea. The host who seated us was not very friendly or welcoming, no hello, no smile. It was a young guy so he seemed like he didnt really care and didnt want to be there. The guy that brought out the food was much nicer. Overall we got what we needed timely but it just didnt feel warm or inviting.

I tried this place because of the reviews and pictures I saw online. I really wanted to love it but for me, it was just okay. Pros: friendly staff, the grilled oysters, green beans, and stir fried clams Cons: the beef fried rice and all the meats had too much cumin seasoning. Great concept, but there s room for improvement. We were excited to try the kabob skewers but, the quality of the meat turned out average. No lean cuts, about 50% of the meat comprised of fat. The server was kind enough to swap out one set of lamb skewers with chicken (slightly better cut). Flavors were good, the only recommendation would be adding higher quality meats with leaner cuts.

After seeing all the hype on social media about this place, my friends and I decided to drop by after our escape room. There werent that many things on the menu besides skewers and some seafood dishes. You order everything via the QR code printed on the menu, and everyone at the table shares the same cart. I thought you could split it at the end when paying like this other restaurant I frequented, but nope. Food didnt take long to come out, but there were only 3 tables around midnight. The skewers are cooked in the back, and they put this small heating unit to keep the skewers warm at the table. Since it was a large party, we didnt know which skewers are which and the servers didnt do a good job of explaining. They just drop the skewers off and then walk away. I had to ask them to tell me which one is which so we dont grab the wrong thing. Skewers are very small yet they cost $4 each??? I never had a good experience with skewer restaurants (besides one), and this is the same. The house special skewers are a little bigger than the other 3 skewers pack but still expensive. The seasoning is okay, nothing special. The only thing I liked was the intestine skewers, but not worth for me to visit again. I ordered a watermelon soju for the group to drink, which was not to my standard. Im unsure if they put any soju in the watermelon because nobody felt anything. Other places Ive been to was much stronger, so I was a little disappointed in that, especially since it was $35. Overall, this place was a disappointment. If it was busy when we came, then I would be more understanding of the service given. However, we were the last group to leave. Also, they said that we ordered some fried buns for $9, but nobody in the group clicked any button so Im not sure where they got that. AND THEY DIDNT EVEN BRING THE ITEM OUT!! I understand if someone made a mistake, but to charge us and not bring the food out until we ASKED, thats basically STEALING. They tried to scam us by charging us and not giving us the food at all until I had to ask. My friend who paid was too shy to say anything and was willing to pay for it but thats $10. FOR BREADS btw.

The taste is really hard to describe... This is the first and last time I go to Ranji to eat! Send it out to avoid thunder for everyone! Because I saw this restaurant recommended on Xiaohongshu before and it s not too far from home, I thought I d give it a try on Mother s Day night. When we arrived at the store around ten oclock, there was only one table in the store ready to pay. Not until we checked out and left the store did another table of customers come. The side dish (braised peanuts) that came with it after taking a seat, the whole plate of peanut shells felt sticky to the touch. Because I saw a blogger on Xiaohongshu recommending his bullfrog pot, and the portion was quite generous (they ordered a small pot for two people and even packed it away before finishing it), so we ordered a small pot. A portion of bullfrog hotpot plus other skewers. When the bullfrog pot arrived... it was a large pot with a thin layer on top. All the side dishes were blanched and placed in the pot before the bullfrog was put in. I don t quite understand why this is done! ! ! What s more, the portion of this dish is enough for one person, not to mention that it s too big to finish. Then the skewers I ordered gave people a feeling of imitating others. I only learned that others sprinkle barbecue seasonings when grilling skewers... All the skewers had no taste (in laymans terms, no salt was added). All the skewers are grilled on an electric stove, without any trace of charcoal grilling or smell! In this way, a lot of the most essential pyrotechnics of barbecue are missing! By the way, the barbecue ingredients used in the store feel like the finished ingredients bought directly from the supermarket, and the taste is very bland. In addition, the meat skewers themselves have no taste. It is impossible to tell what you are eating when you are blindfolded. ! After that, the bullfrog tasted exactly the same as the fried skewers we ordered, a sweet and spicy feeling, and there was no difference in taste! Four people ordered these and it cost 130+. The taste is totally worth the price! ! ! Really extremely disappointed. I will never go to this store again. Summing up experience - in the future, when you go into a store and see few people, you still have to choose carefully or change places decisively. Don t believe everything on Xiaohongshu. I really hope these bloggers can be more conscience when posting in the future. False propaganda is really harmful! ! !

One of my favorite local late night haunts with excellent BBQ skewers and a small but amazing set of drinks and dessert. Staff is friendly and prompt, and there is an option for singing karaoke as well. An excellent local artist also sings Fridays and Saturdays. Parking: Usually theres always room despite lots being shared with other businesses in the area.

Really good kebabs!!! It was on the sweeter side but thats the way I like it! Very good service as well. Highly recommend the pork belly, enoki mushrooms, and the fish tofu! Ordering is done through their website for the entire table so its super convenient as well. They also have a karaoke stage if thats your thing while eating bbq and kebabs!

Extremely disappointed, I waited over 15 mins to never be served, greeted or approached. I watched 3 different tables, be served over 2 times and the only interaction I received were looks from the cook, waiter and a lady who I assume was the manager on site. I ve lived in frisco well over 17 years and I ve never been blatantly ignored or dismissed as I was in this establishment today. To make things worse, I ordered food to go, 40 minutes prior to my arrival. You d think that ll be a simple transaction, however overall very sickening interaction or lack of in this case. Would not recommend unless you re accompanied by someone who can understand what s being said. Very sadden as I love international food.

We have been there several times. The food is good. especially the grill fish.When they first opened this place, they used to give you a whole fish, now they only give half of the fish with much less vegetable. I ordered a crab, which cost $38 a portion. The menu said steamed with salt, pepper, ginger and scallion. I dont know if it was the three flavors or the salt and pepper steamed ginger and scallion. Anyway, the crabs were all fried and had no other flavor. There is no food, it s not delicious. If there are three flavors, no one has confirmed it with us, so we don t recommend it.

You start with steamed peanuts in the shell. We love it! A very nice Vietnamese cuisine. They have a variety of skewers and hot pot. Their seafood line up is great. They have frogs and pork feet on their menu. We loved their fried rice. We would recommend and definitely go again! You order from your mobile and the food is served at your table :)

My favorite things on the items here are are the skewers. They have a lot of options and offer it in the northern Chinese style that s smothered in spices, especially cumin, and Chongqing hot pot style. Everything is prepared in the kitchen before they bring it out to your table. There s also a lot of non-skewer options available to allow for a change of pace. My group really enjoyed everything. Prices are a little on the high side and our bill ran up to $40 per person. A unique thing about this place is the karaoke. Every now and then someone would belt out some tunes. When I went they only sang Chinese (Mandarin), but I can t say with certainty that there isn t music in other languages available.

The atmosphere is very cool. Additionally, it is very difficult to get the staff s attention. That being said, the food was consistently over cooked and overpriced. The skewers came out cold and the heating plate did not do anything. I also tried the Peking duck. The pancakes were steamed too long and were stuck together. Additionally, the duck was so dry that it was nearly inedible. I do not see myself coming back again.

The service was excellent, and the ambiance was alright, but the food didnt shine. The skewers didnt stay warm on the heated box, the prawns were inconvenient to eat, and the fried sweet buns were dry. The special beef skewer was delicious and the mini hot pot was fine, but for me thats not enough to bring me back for a second visit. In all fairness, Im not sure the things I didnt love werent supposed taste the way they did, but even so, it wasnt worth the price IMO.

You order using the phone menu, so it takes human interaction out of the restaurant experience. Some people like that, I personally find it lazy and crushes the restaurant experience. I like to be greeted, asked if it s my first time there, told about the food, etc. especially for the price you re paying. In a place like this you re not only paying for the food, but also customer service, which there was none of. The food all had the same seasoning, the creativity to bring out the flavor of meats, fish, veggies is entirely lacking with the high amounts of the same seasoning. And the portions are super small for the price you pay. I don t think I will be coming here again.

This place really has a great ambiance and has karaoke. I describe the atmosphere is as cool and kind of swanky. The food is high quality and the service is great. Vegetarian options: We ordered some vegetable kabobs that were very good. Im sure they have more options I just didnt really look that much. Parking: Plenty of parking, especially on the side of the building. Zero issues

Ive eaten bad things before, but never this bad. The meat skewers were warm when they arrived. Not hot at all. Its still slow. Garlic oysters, oysters don t have as much garlic. I seriously doubt that our kebabs were leftovers from someone else s meal. Otherwise why isnt it hot?
