My experience was very unpleasant, I ordered a tortilla soup. And the waiter told me that the big one had chicken and I told him it sells small ones and he said yes and my surprise was that it was pure broth and I asked the waiter where the tortillas were and he told me that the flavor was in the broth. It was a casuelita.from 4 to 5 onsas.and almost 7 dollars and I told him that it was not correct.and he told me with the pandemic.everything went up and I understand but pure soup.the truth is that it didnt seem right to me they should explain to someone that it is pure broth

Fortis is hidden away in a neighborhood. Its very nice on the inside with lots of space. Everything was great and delicious except for the tortilla chips. They were cold and not very good. Otherwise, I would give them five stars. Go with a thinner chip and keep them warm before serving. The fajita combo was great!

Worst service ever. We went for our grandmother birthday. We has to explain 3 times to the sever who was under each order. She brought a Heineken when we asked for genius. We asked for a Cucumber shot and a Vegas bomb and she made them incorrectly. We were waiting a long time for her to come back. Shes lucky they automatically add tip because she was not going to get a good tip from us thats for sure

I grew up going to Fortis and today was by far the worst experience there. Our server was over the top rude. Right when we walked in the manager asked the server to sit us and she said she was too busy. Then when she finally approached us at the table, she didnt even say hi, she just said, what can I get you to drink? No smile , nothing. We didnt ever see her smile actually She never gave us the tortillas that are supposed to come with our meal and she was just rude all up until it was time for us to pay the bill of course because now she is probably thinking about her tip. I dont see us going back anytime soon.

Carnita tacos were good. Tasted like carnitas with a nice crisp. Kids burger was good. Nice and round. Good presentation. Food was hot and didn t take too long. Lemonade was watered down and tasted like old lemons. TO Margarita tasted like watered down tequila. The enchilada and tamal tasted like chamoy. The chile relleno was sour and tasted like tomatillo. Rice had an overwhelming taste of garlic. Meh experience for the first time.

I want to start by saying Camila s service was amazing very attentive but the food was not great. We are a family of 5, 2 adults and three kids. My husband ordered a Mexican plate which he said it tasted like soap. My kids got chicken nuggets, hamburger with fries. The meat wasn t cooked well and fries tasted old. My oldest daughter and I got the carnitas plate, again fries tasted old and carnitas had a weird taste. I feel like it was overpriced and the quality of the food was very poor. Service was great !

Magnificent experience from the flavorful old style authentic mexican food, the beautiful ambience or the live singer that kept us captivated with soulful Mexican ballads, this 50+ year old restaurant still has the heart of El Paso founded by its matriarch! There are beautiful fresco and murals. It is a near historical home where you can step into a genuine relic and feel like you are in Mexico or the Spanish villages of Spain or colonial Philippines. Nachos, tampiqueno steak, gorditas, a fantastic Ceviche and large drink menu and an indoor bar and patio style seating...we will be back and bring reinforcements! Patronize this establishment and support the fight against UMC to use Immenent Domain to steal the homes of the locals we met! The salsa was delicious and well prepared with a flavor of mild heat and roasted vegetables it was so good and pairs well with the items on the menu. God bless the Forti family who still have generations of family providing the hospitality! Parking: The enclosed gated parking lot is spacious and additional parking is available outside the gate.

I rarely give or see a 5 star rating. It was the food and service that did it for me as this was my very first time at Fortis. Alex did a wonderful job at being attentive as busy as he got before, during, & after. I like the decor inside. There was even a birthday party at the very bottom level and they had a live person singing which was nice. I was 1 of 3 guests that are March babies celebrating so that was a plus. I ordered the tacos al pastor. The beef nachos with sour cream and guacamole was very filling as well. If you like eating tostadas with salsa I recommend you get at least a quart of it as they sell them in different sizes. The dessert (atleast the chocolate cake) was a generous portion size.

This was amazing. For the price, it doesnt get better. Their combo plate has it all, and was even big enough that it didnt fit all on one plate. Spectacular. It was also fairly busy for Sunday afternoon, and two guys were running the entire restaurant. They were busting their butts, without complaint, and doing everything but dishwashing I think. However they might have been doing that as well.

Fortis Mexican Restaurant offers a unique experience with its off-the-beaten-path charm and attentive service. However, the food quality falls short of expectations. Despite a complimentary basket of chips, additional servings incur charges, including refills on sodas. A request for different salsa results in an extra fee of $5.95. The combo plate, featuring a tamale, enchilada, taco, rice, beans, and a chili relleno, disappoints as none of the items are deemed truly edible. Consider exploring other dining options for a more satisfying Mexican cuisine experience.

1st time eating in this restaurant, my mom had a combination plate with 2-tamales, 1-chile relleno, 1-beef taco the only thing she noted was that the red sauce that was put on top of the tamales was too hot/spicy she couldnt eat it, so ask for the sauce on the side. I had the fortis burger topped with green Chilies but they turned out to be jalapeños to spicy for my taste it also was supposed to have American cheese and the gave me some white cheese like asadero not for me at least not on a hamburger. I removed both the chilies and white cheese so left with a plain burger the taste of the meat was at least good. We really liked the atmosphere in there looks like its a three level place they have a piano in the first level so Im sure they probably have music but I didnt ask. I do have to say that our server was super nice first time here in El Paso where a serve actually keeps your glasses full. So I would definitely come back I would just be more cautious of the spicy ingredients maybe get them on the side.

Not exactly how I remember it. Its a very nice-looking place still. The margaritas mustve been virgin, but the price sure wasnt. I was most taken by the automatic gratuity. Our visit wasnt horrible, but I was unaware of the cost of every refill. Be it chips and salsa or fountain drinks. I guess they felt the service was impeccable for what I was charged. I really do not like not having an option to choose how much gratuity should be. And for what they charge, it needs to be flawless. It wasnt.

The gorditas were so hard that all I could do was dump out the meat and eat it with the beans!! Other people in our party had issues with their food/drinks and the hostess/ manager was indifferent to their issues! Overall the rating should be a 1 but the waitress was really trying to accommodate us but the issues were not her problem!!

Was here today with 40 others for a birthday party.totalally bad service from a young lady wearing glasses..Seems that a blonde male waiter did 95% of the serving. The young lady got all our orders wrong and when we asked for extra drinks we would never get them so we would ask other staff. I will not recommend any of my friends to this place because of bad service.

Went to celebrate fathers day. The place was hot they had fans on everywhere they seemed short staffed. And the ice on the beverages was melting fast. But the enchiladas I got were very dleicous and hot plate that was good.

Steak had nothing but fat and grizzly, and the waiter said the cook said sometimes you are just the unfortunate person to get the bad piece of meat. Said that there was nothing he could do about it as there was not any management available. This used to be a great restaurant, but those days are gone. I wont go back.

It was pretty tight, I didnt know there would be music so I was a little overwhelmed. The meat they used in the tacos was really dry and underseasoned, as were the beans and rice. The molè enchiladas were really good. I wasnt expecting a sweet mole, so maybe advertise that, too. Overall I left with my tummy full and a very pleasant experience all around.

Nice hidden Gem of a place, Out of the beaten path. Setting is quaint and comfortable, but the best part is that they have a wide menu selection of Authentic Mexican food dishes. Food is very well prepared and tasty. Highly recommend it

The place was relatively dead, the waiting staff showed the lack of interest on providing good service. Since it was a large party and their gratuity was secured. Food was OK, but the lack of service made it not enjoyable. Our glasses were empty 75% of the time.

Was sitting there literally for a bit over half an hour. Drink order was taken within about 10 minutes after arriving. But our drinks were not served. So, after sitting there for close to 40 minutes. And seeing how attentive they were with a large party of people,my wife and I decided to leave. Two drinks, an Ice tea and a beer? And nothing in 40 minutes. Ill never go back.

I was expecting more, however was a disappointment the salsa was not good at all seemed as it was made from weeks ago and just threw in some chopped up jalapeños that tasted like grass, the waiting took forever I almost felt asleep, I ordered a beef fajita plate for 1 person with a small scoop of avocado, sour cream, pico de gallo & a small cup of beans that tasted like sweet canned beans all for the amount of $30 I could of gone to Rosas Cafe and got the family pack with rice, beans for $30 with better taste. We notice a group of people behind us got served first and we were the 1st ones to get there & at that it was more of them than us, then a big group of ppl came at the reserved area so I m assuming our waitress had leave to assist them because we didn t see her after that, it s like she disappeared and didn t bother to tell us anything nor was acknowledged by anyone else until we seen a man cleaning the table in front of us, which looked like the manager & had to ask him for napkins & at that we were never asked for refills once. Other waitresses seemed overworked, & everything was just disorganized depressed based on the decorations.

Visited while I was in town. The restaurant was a little hard to find, and the parking lot was extremely dark. The place inside was nice, with music and a lively atmosphere. I had the beef fajitas and the food was good no complaints, but nothing outstanding either. Our server was very friendly and sweet; she kept the adult beverages flowing for my companions but I only got one refill for my iced tea. Probably won t visit again, though I can see that Forti s could be popular with large groups since they have the space.
