2 Stars I usually don t leave bad reviews, but I felt like I had to because as a customer, it seems like they don t care about the quality of their food or customer satisfaction. I ve given Smokey Dz BBQ three chances via DoorDash, and each time felt like eating at a completely different restaurant. The first time was above average, but the last two times have been terrible. My second order was messed up and didn t even include any BBQ sauce. This last delivery was the final straw the ribs were dry, hard, and tasted like leftovers from days ago. The BBQ sauce had a burnt taste. The food I received today shouldn t have left the restaurant; they gave me the ends of the slab with no meat, and the rib tips I ordered had more meat than the actual ribs. It feels like there s a different person smoking the meat each time because the flavor is all over the place. Unfortunately, after being disappointed twice, I won t be trying them again.

They smoked the macaroni and yall!!! Ribs, sausage, and brisket all on point! Some of the best greens Ive had in my life and my buddy said the banana pudding was so good and made him want to slap his momma! Staff was friendly, the food was amazing, and the restaurant was clean what more can you ask from a top-notch BBQ joint!

I went today around lunchtime. The place was empty to my surprise. I used to frequent pretty often years ago bc I worked in the area. I decided to get a one meat plate with rib tips, potato salad, and baked beans. The price was $15.99 plus tax. My food came out quickly to my surprise. I noticed my plate felt a little light but chalked it up to me over thinking. When I got to my car and opened this plate, I was so upset. I felt like I was robbed. I then understood why the menu said no refunds at the bottom. They are literally robbing customers. I was served a childs portion for almost $20. The only thing big on my plate was the piece of Texas toast. I definitely wouldnt recommend them to anyone. Especially when you can go to other BBQ places and get what you pay for plus some. This is ridiculous.

Our baked potatos were absolutely horrendous. The brisket was nothing but fatty pieces that we couldn t consume. The sausage had no real flavor and the sour cream was hidden all the way under the foil underneath the potato s. I wouldn t recommend to anyone.

Yum! Its a lot of food, the food smells fantastic, and it was delicious. I was surprised how much I liked Boozy Koolaid. Im not a fan of their sides, but we didnt have room for sides anyway. Theres also a pizza place in this building that we look forward to trying. Everybody was so nice. Thank you!

Went here and got the sloppy mess, rib tips and frozen Kool aid. They are kinda pricey ($83 for 2) but the food was good. Made the mistake of going here before going traveling to Ohio on business and dear God, they raised the bar for the place I went with my peers. Seasoned, fall of the bone ribs & great portion sizes made this place almost worth it. Im a repeat offender and the food is good tho. Highly recommend them, just hit a family member for $20 before you go.

This is some badddddd bbq. The potato salad tasted spoiled and had a weird texture with liquid at the bottom. The beans are gross. The banana pudding is literally jello banana pudding.(chunked that before I left). The brisket is drier then Arizona heat, and the dude in the back butchered it by cutting it wrong. The halfway decent thing was the ribs, which was a tad bit salty. I cant eat this...

What a vibe!!! Good food and good people. We celebrated my daughters graduation here. They went out of the way to accommodate my entire family of 15. I had BBQ chicken with Mac n cheese and baked beans. The food was delicious. Great customer service and clean dining. Definitely one of my new favorite spots. Smokey DZ owes me nothing.

I would like to say thank you for your hospitality and great food! Ms. NaeNae was such a sweetheart. She helped me pick out a few things to try as it was my first time there. I had a chopped beef sandwich, mac & cheese, and a peach cobbler. I think I finished most of my cobbler before I made it home Once home, I tried to demolished the sandwich, along with the mac & cheese, but unfortunately I was too full. Being from Memphis this is the nastiest,coldest barbecue I ve ever eaten! My greens and baked beans were cold and tasted like vinegar. The ribs and sausage were cold and look like they were warmed up in the microwave from yesterday the day before. also, the unsweetened tea tasted like lemon tea. avoid this place before door opening hours and give them time to cook fresh meat because they will serve you the leftover food from the night before and still take your money.. This place deserves a zero star if there ever was one.

The chef makes his food with cheap short cuts and it shows. This food was absolutely disappointing. I ordered the 1 meat plate and it comes with 2 sides. Chicken green beans and potato salad. For dessert banana pudding. I was happy to hear the section of the chicken was the leg. Unfortunately the leg was dried out and hard. Green beans were from a can good. Potato salad was very bitter as if lots of vinegar was added. Banana pudding was created with cheap instant banana pudding packets. No bananas present. The food was not edible and it all went in the garbage. It s a shame how this restaurant can serve and make profit from processed food and laziness

Ordered a one meat potato. The chopped beef on the potato was dry and hard. I asked for jalepenos on top, didnt get any and was charged for them. Potatoes come dry with no sauce. They only gave one sauce to pour on your potato. I like my sauce already on the potato and not just one small cup like a jello shot. I used to eat there often but hadnt been 3-4 yrs. I was really disappointed and felt like I wasted my money.

Not really moved to leave this review but I was in the area and was looking forward to it. Dont hang out in Ducanville too much but I have family that lives here that I was visiting. I decided to check this place out. I was enthusiastic about it. One always thinks they came across a hidden gem. Unfortunately, it was not the case. Service- very hospitable. Worst part of this review was that the cashier that attended me was kind and friendly so im saddened to leave the low mark on the brisket. Atmosphere- it seemed like they were going to set up for a live band later on the evening (towards the back of the restaurant.) Very clean and inviting. Sides were pretty good. Wife and kids shared macaroni and were quite pleased. I had some french fries and some home-made potatoe chips they make. They season the fries and the chips with the same mix it seems but i had no issues with it. I liked it. Finally, the star of the show.... well at least i thought. The brisket made dickies bbq look good. I almost had 2 lbs of it, so i had enough to judge for consistency and it was consistently tough . The pieces were 90% fat, gristle and 10% brisket. The parts that were actually brisket were mildly tough and slightly rubbery. None of the strips broke when I pulled. Instead of eating the entire strip like i do at most bbq places; here, i had to poke out the few spots that had brisket. Id like to give them another chance and try the chopped bbq but the price point vs quality doesnt encourage me.

Honestly was excited to try spent over $100 and surprised to be the worst! I see you all are very good at replying to reviews so here goes .I was on indeed about a month ago I came across the position for a bartender, I thought the position would be filled, I checked back on 4/27/24 I called to see if they needed a bar tender because it was still listed, the young lady that answered the phone was polite, and stated that she can give me some more info by giving me the manager number she placed me on hold and never came back to the phone, after 15 mins I called back 3 xs only to be put through to the messages SORRY THE PARTY YOU ARE TRYING TO REACH DOES NOT HAVE THEIR VOICE MAIL SET UP? Went here around 2pm on a Monday not busy and received very prompt /pleasant service. I ordered the 2 meat plate with pulled pork and sliced brisket , mac n cheese, greens &side of cobbler. Meats were tender , well seasoned overall delicious. No complaints there! Only thing is I recommend adding another slice of bread if you want to make a sandwich with your meat. It only comes with one and there s an extra charge for more. Mac n cheese is different than previous photos, flavor was not there for me and was more like a casserole Greens were delicious! Had a different taste than your normal thanksgiving plate, almost as iv there was some carribean influence . Cobbler was ok , a tad watery than would ve liked and too heavy on the nutmegg, but decent and i ate it lol. Overall would 100% go back!

As someone who has patronized your establishment a couple of times, I wish this was positive review stating how much I enjoyed my visit, but this is not that review. On Sunday afternoon, I called to place a pick-up order for a baked potato, and before placing my order I asked if they had any baked potatoes available and if they had chicken as a meat choice which the young man on the other end of the phone assured me they did. After being reassured, I then proceed to place my order. After driving 15 minutes to pick-up my order, we get there to be told they have NO CHICKEN. I wish this wouldve been verified and communicated to me before I placed my order and driving 15 minutes. This experience has placed a stain on my consideration for any future visits. I hope in the near future you all are better at communicating, this way people arent wasting their time to be disappointed.

This was my first time ever visiting this place I had a taste for a bake potato so I decided to try the two meat potato. I wanted brisket and ribs however they were out of chicken and brisket. Very much a soul food venue, we loved the staff and the atmosphere. My family all loved their food and would give it full marks, my food was just ok. I Have To Say being from California in the entertainment industry my whole career and now living in NEW YORK CITY who has also traveled all over the world eating all foods of love. SMOKEY D Z BBQ is the best BBQ place I HAVE EVER EATEN AT IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!!! The Food is made with The Love, The atmosphere makes you feel like you are family and it was my first time there! I went 2x s while in town for only 3 days because it was that Good!! The Drinks OMg to Livvv for and The Music brought me back to the roots of why I became a Celebrity Dancer for all of the legends in Music to begin with!!! The JOY you feel in there is contagious and all races come in and feel that same love! Families with multiple generations came in and were treated with so much love and ate so well! It was WOW!!! I am speechless and feel so blessed I pray They bring a SMOKEY D Z BBQ TO NYC AND GLOBALLY!!! It s wow and I will be back everytime I travel to Dallas!! 1 Trillion Stars from Me! My wife picked up dinner for us from here 2 nights ago. First, she arrived at 6:15p and sat in the parking lot and placed the order online. She got updates saying the order would be ready at 6:32p. She went inside at 6:30p. She got to the counter and gave her name. Then the gentleman printed the order out, looked at it and said ummmm I don t know if I m gonna have all of this. Then, the gentleman comes back and says they were out of chicken. So she asks for extra ribs. He says he couldn t give extra ribs. Then she said she d take sausage. The gentleman comes back out and says they didn t have any more pulled pork for her plate so she ended up getting more brisket. The gentleman comes back out and says that they were out of Mac and cheese. So she asked for another baked beans. The gentleman replied saying they only had enough for one side for each of our plates. So I picked French fries and she got sweet potato fries. This was my 2nd time going to this place in over a year and they ran out of Mac and cheese that time too. The ribs were ok, at best. The sausage was dry. The beans looked old and they didn t taste nearly as good as they did the first time I went. The other sides were a complete waste of time. Very disappointed with this place. The gentleman was very nice despite the poor food experience.

I ordered the chopped beef, the tea-laid, and peach cobbler. That chopped beef was perfection. No sauce was needed at all. The cobbler was missing flavor, but Ill be back. The seating area was super nice too

This was my familys and I first time... Very unhappy my family and I ordered 2 Loaded Baked Potatoes no sour cream on both and no cheese on one,we paid for 1 to have extra meat and a chopped beef sandwich with a fries! Our total was $53.03, only to argue because the potatoes were poorly made nothing on it but meat when its a Loaded Baked Potato no topping what so ever and of course we were made out to be wrong. The girl in the front had a smart mouth instead of apologizing and correcting the issue no one wanted to be accountable never again!!!

First time visiting. I was very impressed with the customer service. Black owned restaurants are hit and miss with this, but they definitively went above and beyond to make sure we were accommodated and were open to feedback regarding their food. Cashier/Bartender was friendly and made a decent drink! I wanted something with tequila and she delivered. The food was on point. For the length of time we waited, I wish the brisket was a bit warmer, but it was acceptable and had great flavor! I ended up ordering more food and a pizza while I waited. Pizza was definitely a hit with the kids. Pleeeease be consistent with food and customer service and we will be repeat customers for sure! Oh and atmosphere was on point also. There was a DJ during our visit playing good music

Not worth the money, took too long for food already prepared. Mac n cheese absolutely nasty, the weirdest taste. Greens were greasy and salty.. my ribs were over seasoned and dry. It s not worth the time and or money. A horrible example. The door was open but sign not on. Staff was friendly and helped with me with the order. I am back at work, pregnant, starving and pissed.

We ate here two nights ago and i must say its by far the best bbq place in the duncanville desoto lancaster area bc I have tried a bbq in each one of those places and it was horrible. I had the brisket sandwich and it was definitely 5 star my husband had the chicken my kids only eat sides and they tore the potato salad up. The only reason Im giving 4 stars because they didnt have peach cobbler and it was sub for some kinda cake they have and we didnt care for at all. Most definitely will be returning and hopefully they have the peach cobbler so i can come back and five it 5 stars

The quality of food at this restaurant has gone completely down. I came in today and got a rib tip plate with green beans, potato salad, and a tea-laid drink. First off, they were supposed to be open at 11am. They were not! The tea-laid tastes like it has juice from greens or some other food in it. Nasty! My green beans didn t have any meat in it, but big huge chunks of potatoes. They were decent. The potato salad was disgusting! The rib tips had a lot of fat on them, but they were the best part of the meal. And everything was stuffed on the plate altogether along with my bread; no separate containers for my sides. I ll pass on it next time.

Very disappointed. Had the loaded baked potato which was 15/16 bucks . Brisket was dry and flavorless, no sauce was applied or given, the skin was hard and crusted, they provided cheap plastic utensils to eat with which the fork broke first and then the spoon broke. No condiments on the table. Condiments (salt and pepper) were in the sealed utensil packet which may as well have not been anything. The ice tea had no tea flavor at all. Overall very disappointed all around.

Ribs very tough & dry. Like they were a day or two old. BBQ beans are delicious. Potato salad too much mustard & all mashed, no solid potatoes, but tasty. Baked Potatoes overdone and mushy. Took 25 minutes to get food in a near empty restaurant. We were only customers for first 15 minutes Most BBQ places plate you up right away. We will try again one day as a second chance.

From MI here on business. I smoke at least 5 times a month! I always hit up any BBQ place I come by in my business travels. This place was great! The Fella up front was very nice and gave me the quick 411 of the menu! I always judge a BBQ place by 3 items, Brisket, pork rib and baked beans. All three where amazing here! Ribs pulled off (not fall off) clean! Beans had good flavor and the brisket bark was in point. Great BBQ co side ring they dont do stick burning.

The rib tips were overcooked, and I kept getting tired of fighting off the flies while trying to eat! Please invest in a Zapper or Fly trap. Also, if youre gonna have music on, lets keep it in one area, not two different areas, the front of the restaurant and in the sitting area. Both were loud and couldnt enjoy it at all, music drowning out each other.

Very disappointed, we both had the 2 meat plates. My dtr ordered sausage and brisket, w okra and mac and cheese. I had brisket and ribs,with sweet potato fries and slaw. Then we were told they didnt have sausage due to a malfunction. All they had was ribs and brisket. No Mac and cheese either. Then were told would have sausage and Mac and cheese up in about 5 min. We sat down and waited for our order, the food came fairly quick but no drinks. Those came after another wait. No sweet and low for the tea on the tables so had to ask for that. Still waiting on the sausage and Mac and cheese. Finally the sausage came out, but had like cheese in it, and she said it tasted like jalapeños or something. While thats not bad if you expect it, she expected just normal.sausage. a note on the board that this was a cheese and pepper sausage would have been nice. Another wait and Finally her Mac and cheese came out. She said it was good but arrived after the meal. We decided to get the peach cobbler for desert to split, and while the plastic container said peach cobbler what it was was carrot cake. It was good but not made fresh,was a packaged product. The music was playing so loud it was uncomfortable and a blessing when it finally stopped. We both felt for the price we have had much better bbq other places.

On a Saturday night, I had a really bad craving for some ribs, so search online for a place where I could get some barbecue and to my surprise, Smokey Dz was open until midnight. I drove about an hour from Denton county to Duncanville and was heartbroken that the ribs werent available. I settled for some brisket, mac and cheese, baked beans, three shots of tequila, and 2 Dos Equis. The briskets slapped, so much flavor! it definitely made up for not having any ribs available. I also want to give my thanks to the staff, they were very welcoming and allowed me to stay past closing time to finish my drinks. I really enjoyed their energy and banter. I hope they succeed in their endeavors. I will be coming back to try those ribs before they run out.

I gave a 3 because under all the baked on cheese on my loaded potato there was more sauce and even more cheese than meat(chipped brisket) ..I was kind of disappointed as it was my first time there and based on atmosphere alone I was hyped to try the food...Listen, I will definitely be back though to hopefully turn my 3 into a 4 or 5 as I will try a different meal.

The young lady that work at the front is so rude! Not my first encounter. I ve let her poor customer service slide a few times. She comes in from outside don t greet me. Takes my order the tea laid was low she still sold me a regular size that she didn t have enough for to fill the cup. Instead of asking me did I want something else she fills the rest of the cup up with Ice. lol I didn t complain. I asked for ketchup she hesitated and put it in the bag once she passed me the order I said thank you and she didn t say a word back. Like if you re going to have kids working in your establishment please train them! I will NOT be back.
