This place was worth the 1hour and 4 minute drive! Amazing customer service from Mr.Steve and his brother. Let me not write a book on how fresh and good the food is ..OMG! I can t wait to get my crew and come back! 100/10

Omggg me and my kids got the pork chop and meatloaf with yams, dressing, mashed potatoes with gravy and green beans on the side. It was a peach drink that was sooo good it didn t make it home. I definitely will be coming back my new favorite spot.

Love love love The food it s so I hate eating out but when I tell you I could eat this everyday ITS a MUST I TRY THE WHOLE MENU.. THE WORKERS/ OWNERS ARE SO NICE, professional and EVERYTHING IS MADE FRESH OMG YOU WONT REGRET IT DEFINITELY WORTH THE MONEY

I visited The Color Purple Cafe on 07/28/2024 for the first time. The restaurant was clean. I had the Oxtail dinner with yams, macaroni and cheese and dressing. The food was good. The yams were ok. The Oxtails were a little tough but seasoned very well. I plan to try the Meatloaf next time. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for good soul food.

As a regular customer at The Color Purple Restaurant in DeSoto, Texas, I can confidently say that this place is a culinary gem! The food is consistently magnificent, making each visit an absolute delight. We at D&J Builders Surplus love coming here on a daily basis. I cant really rate the food because I tried to order some but was told they were closed an hour before their posted business hours because of Fathers Day. But if you say you close at a certain time, you will lose business if you dont heed to that. Could have had a loyal customer, if the the food wad as good as some of the other reviews say but I guess Ill never know. Highly disappointed in the service!

Im very meticulous on things. I would definitely visit again. I do have some suggestions...please pay attention to the season. Its either too much or too little. Everyone is different. I love what you all doing here. I will be honest Im not a fan of the chicken and dressing. Dressing reminds me of stuffing. Where Im from we do cornbread dressing. The chicken was over cooked. Pay attention to such...other than that all was well. Everyone is extremely kind. Update: visited again on June 30th. Ordered wing plate. Very bland and the wings full of feathers. Definitely upset with it. I threw the entire plate away. Nobody has time to pluck fried chicken. I definitely tried you out 3 times. Unfortunately I cant return. I wish you all the best. Sorry.

My husband & I, stopped by after church. Very friendly staff. We had to wait about 45 min. My husband had meatloaf, it had a good taste. But it was swimming in grease). The cowboy beans was too sweet. I had the jerk chicken which was pretty good. My greens & corn was just OK. The portion size was great, enough for two meals. Everyone has different taste buds & they like what they like. So try it out for yourself.

This is a small business with limited operating hours (mainly weekends) and staff so do not expect to visit on a normal work lunch break for some fast food. My order took about 20 mins to prepare but food was hot and fresh. I went on a Sunday after church service and ordered the Catfish with yams and cabbage as my sides. The catfish was fried to perfection, the yams had the perfect touch of sweetness, the fried cabbage was delicious blend with peppers and carrots (a bit salty but delicious) and came with several small hushpuppies that are the best fresh out of the oil. I enjoyed the meal and went back for a 2nd visit a few weeks later to test the consistancy of the cooks. My 2nd visit was very similar to my first experience with only feedback being fried cabbage being a bit salty. Friendly staff at a small location so consider calling ahead to place order if u have large group. There limited seating both inside and outside of the resturant. I did not experience any problems or concerns at either of my visits and encourage you to post your own experience when you give them a try. Parking: Plenty of free parking near entrance of resturant.

After stopping at 5 other places and leaving with nothing I finally found this place! I am so glad that I gave it a try! I have been searching for a similar taste to what my family s food at home up North tastes like and I ve found it!!!!!!! I got a veggie plate and my husband got the catfish basket and everything was delicious! I ve found my go to spot!

I tried this place out and it was actually good. I got dinner for my family and everyone was pleased. People welcomed me in and some of the food I like. The cajun porkchops was seasoned well along with the fish. Ill have to come back to try the soul food I couldnt get

First impressions are REAL and I was COMPLETELY satisfied with my experience at The Color Purple Cafe I ordered the 8 piece chicken wings which were fried to perfection, green beans were perfectly seasoned and creamy coleslaw. I was initially informed that they had just run out of coleslaw; however, the co-owner offered to make another batch for me. I was impressed by that. Their sinage reads that they are not a fast food restaurant and the fact that I had to wait on my meal did not bother me. It was confirmation that my food would be hot and fresh! Great food and service I will DEFINITELY return! Support this Black owned business.....you wont be disappointed!

I called an order in two weeks ago, and when I arrived I was told they were out of the sides I had ordered. I decided to give them another try. Everything that I ordered was available. The greens and cornbread were good. The dressing, chicken fried chicken, mac and cheese were mid. The lemon cake wasnt good at all, it was dry and seemed old.
