We ordered online and received enough food for 2 children. The loaded fries were a complete joke as you may get 10 fries and a sprinkling if protein. $5 elote is miniature size as was the queso for 2. For $52 very disappointing!! The flavor was the only thing that s worth mentioning to the positive. Do Better El Cuycu.

We stopped at their new location last night and it was great! Delicious food, fun atmosphere, and the staff was super accommodating. We met the owner, Mark, and he is a nice dude who s been in Denton forever. Go check them out! The birria tacos were amazing!

First time trying them out, had heard good things about their Food Trucks. The name was the 1st thing that caught my attention, & I continued to be amused by the clever/creative menu items. Started out with Queso Blanco, & ordered Sweet Tea & SANDIA Agua Fresca-SO GOOD!! Ordered the Vegan Burrito- El Impostor WOW!! Fresh ingredients, good portion, great flavor!! Love finding a place with solid Vegan/Vegetarian options! Wife ordered La Suegra, which is the chicken fajita burrito...EVERYTHING was delicious! Staff was very friendly, & helped us navigate through the menu. Grill guy heard us ordering, & cut our burritos since we planned on sharing. Turns out he is the owner, really nice guy! Took a tour of the space, good seating options, as well as patio area. Excited to bring friends, & try more items on the menu! We ended up getting another Sandia Agua Fesca, to go. Yall do NOT SLEEP ON THIS PLACE!!! AMAZING!!!!!Mark, the chef/owner puts his love into the food. The carnitas are where you can tell. I have made them from scratch and he does a 6 HOUR BRAISE!! You CAN taste the herbs and flavors in it!! He s not trying to fit in one type of cuisine. Mark is inspired and while most restaurants hide their proteins with sauces, not him. El Cucuy uses sauces as they SHOULD to elevate the food. RUN DONT WALK HERE!! Save me a spot though and some elote because my wife will get mad if I dont bring her some!!!

Absolutely delicious. I came in on recommendation from a friend, and Im happy I listened. House salsas both rocked. Chicken was flavorful and juicy. Burrito was large and had great texture and balance between the ingredients--marinated and seasoned incredibly well. Even the tea was fresh and crisp. Owner came over personally to check on me twice. Ill absolutely be back to try more. Worth every penny.

This food aint worth a dollar. I ordered the Carne Asada fries and boi let me tell you, the fries still tasted frozen you could taste the graininess, awful. The carne was too thick, needs to be thinner, feels like im swallowing a block of cement. Then they didnt put my guacamole that was supposed to be on there, smh. I paid 14 bucks for a serving size for a 1 year old toddler, and i aint no big back, but the portion was TINYYY. Customer service was fine. NEVER COME HERE EUGGHHHH. AS CASEOH SAYS, YOURE BANNED.

Ive been to the food truck once before going to the sit down restaurant, and both times did not disappoint in the slightest. Mark was very friendly, thanked us for coming in, and waited on us to see how it was. The quesadilla and the carne asada fries were top notch, and leave you wanting more while still being full and satisfied. The home is a fixer upper, but still feels cozy and comfortable! I cant wait to see what it eventually turns out to be. Everytime I am in town, I will be thinking about this place and want to go back and try as many things on the menu as I can.

The food speaks for itself. The service was friendly and fun. The owner came and checked in on us and it was really great to hear about his plans for the space. I had the special for the month - the El Diablito. The steak is fresh and cooked well, the peppers fresh and spicy, and the fries crispy. I also had the Watermelon Agua Fresco and loved the refreshing beverage during my meal. Definitely recommend heading here as a local or as a visitor. It s the perfect lunch spot or you ve been drinking and need a sweet burrito to fill your gut spot.

Mark is a pure artist. As soon as you step foot into his home you know your day is about to get seasoned with the most delicious food in the area. Every bite was pure happiness and an explosion of taste! My husband and I have traveled quite a bit, we ve had some amazing food in the past! When we settled in Denton, we truly thought we d never find a place that would bring back those late night Cali burrito runs. The first few times I had el cucuy I liked it, there were a few quarrels I had but there s no where else in town that has Cali burritos. This last time, you could tell, the steak was different. It was hard and chewy, I could barely bite into it. It tasted pre cooked or something and was gross. They also advertise their burritos as a pound which they definitely aren t. You can see in many of the reviews they complain about so much tortilla and that is always true, so much extra tortilla that many bites will be nothing but. It s expensive, and I didn t even eat my burrito last time cause the fries were hard and stale (should be shoe string for traditional Cali burrito anyway) the tortilla also should be fresh and crispy especially if you re gonna charge so much, the tortilla is barely cooked at all, and this past time there was like no sauce at all. So all around, it was awful. I will drive to Valerie s in flower mound I guess instead of trying again cause it s just a massive waste of my money for something I didn t enjoy enough to even eat.

This place was really disappointing. The employees were nice, however the food was, truthfully, saddening. Two burritos ordered for nearly 13 dollars each, one was 50% tortilla, 25% fries, and >25% of what was said on the menu. The other burrito was 40% tortilla, 25% guacamole, a 25% fries, and 10% of what was listed. Best to go to the other food trucks tbr. :(

Went there last night. Food wasnt great. Ordered the El Cucuy and the carnitas- Cali burrito. Both were mostly tortilla with little amounts of severely dry meat, and very little of the remaining ingredients. We ended up just tossing half of the burrito, it was so dry and mostly just tortilla wrapped around itself.

Best burrito I have ever had in Denton! We got the El Cucuy carne asada burrito and the carne asada cheese fries. Killer food! So tasty. The burrito is done San Diego style, so it has fries inside it! Yum. They also have spicy red and spicy green salsas that are great. This is a great food truck on North Austin Street. Tasty stuff.

Took 45 minutes for food to come out. After 20ish minutes, went back to ask how much longer it would take because I began seeing people who ordered after us getting all their food and they said it was almost done. After 15 more minutes, they told us they lost our ticket and then couldn t give us a time for how long is was going to take for it to be done. Left a 30% tip at the beginning but shouldn t have left any to begin with. After the 45 minutes, I asked if we could have some sort of refund or discount for this inconvenience because we weren t planning on staying there for as long as we did. They then proceeded to say that they couldn t because they would have to delete the transaction even though I payed in cash. I ended up getting the tip I left them back but they were very hesitant and aggressive about it. As a business, especially a small business, you should do everything to keep your customers happy, so a small discount would have been ideal when it was their fault to begin with. I tried to be as nice as I could about the situation but it was hard . All said and done, the food wasn t that great for the price and customer service you re getting.

I should have gone some place authentic. An authentic place would have provided real tortillas, salsa, and some cilantro, onion, and lime for any tacos order. The pesadillas (fancy term for chicken tacos) is just chicken taquitos in red Taco Bell type tortillas. The menu says it comes with jack cheese, but mine only had plain chicken inside. And I dont want red food coloring in my food. And the little guac container that came with the order was only enough for 2.5 taquitos -- not the 4 in the order that cost me $9.20 after tax.

Best flautas I ve ever had, pesadillas on the menu. The chicken is high quality, never greasy. The ratio is perfect & they have a unique seasoning on the tortilla. The queso is almost like a cheesy salsa, super yummy. The drinks are on POINT & I m usually particular about my agua frescas. They have all the flavors I can t find at other restaurants, or that run out fast. The Horchata has that real rice texture, love. They do use recyclable materials so just be aware of that for deliveries, your cup might get a little soft. Customer service is excellent.

Finally a cali burrito spot in Denton! The vegan burrito (El Impostor) is nuts, get it with the house made red salsa and a mango iced tea. Everything comes in a compostable or recyclable container too, which is a big plus. Mark is a super cool dude, extremely friendly and passionate.
