No tickets. No fee. My daughter and I went together. At 1st, it seemed fairly easy. We chose Fisherman s trail. Which meant we went to the right. The trail seemed easy to walk. At first, light and bright, then more and more trees, many are dead. We heard owls, mockingbirds, frogs,. Saw lily pads, a water moccasin, then turned toward a huge pond/lake. With pelicans, egrets, and ducks. Even saw a water moccasin. Unfortunately we took the wrong path back to our car. By this time it was dark. Gates close at 8:00 p.m. I found the last car leaving another parking area thankfully. They gave me a ride to help find my daughter which we did. Then, they took us to find my car at another entrance.

I walked the loop north from the Heritage center around to the Fishermans trail back down around which took about an hour. GPS worked the whole time so I was able to keep track of my whereabouts. The path had many different kind of terrain. Uneven, ruts, sand, and stalks from mowed down plant make it necessary to wear good supportive shoes and watch where you step. It was dry when I went but, I can see that if it had rained heavy the trails would be muddy and maybe even impassable. Over all a great spot to get into nature and enjoy a quick or long walk.

Clear Creek Natural Heritage Center is a fantastic destination for nature enthusiasts looking for a scenic and tranquil escape. The unpaved trails meander through a beautifully wooded area, providing plenty of shade and a cool, refreshing environment even on warmer days. These trails are ideal for hiking, bird watching, and simply enjoying the natural surroundings. One thing to keep in mind is that the trails can become quite muddy and occasionally impassable after a rain. Its wise to check the weather and trail conditions before heading out, especially if rain is in the forecast. Despite this, the overall experience at Clear Creek is incredibly rewarding, offering a peaceful retreat and a great way to connect with nature.

Extremely well maintained and wide trails. You can use a stroller easily. Nice toilet nearby. However, trails were particularly monotonous. I walked the entire system in the forest except parts of the wetland trail that were still muddy. LLELA bittern marsh trail in Lewisville or the Rowlett Creek Preserve in Garland are far more interesting.

This place is easy to get to from Denton and I love going during weekends or during the week when you just need to be in nature. Previously, other online reviews said that you can spot bluebonnets in the prairie trail here (but that was not the case this year, have not seen any yet!). It s pet friendly as well, we ve seen many people with their dogs on the trails. The trail next to the small lake/pond can get super muddy and flooded after a rainy day. So it s better to wear some hiking shoes or shoes you don t care about getting dirty.

Beautiful open and spacious areas to walk, jog, and just sit to enjoy nature. The loop around is 3 miles with views of creeks, ponds, and luscious trees. Be careful if going after a good rain as the paths get muddy. There is nothing more challenging than just walking. Good for great picture opportunity and bird watching.

Great place to walk and get outdoors. Wear proper footwear and the trail gets muddy multiple days after a rain. The full loop is about 4 1/2 miles but plenty of benches to rest if you need to take a load off. I imagine even in the summer months this would be a nice walk as most of it is shaded, best to start on on the meadow side early so you are shaded by the trees as the day temps and sun intensifies

Great bike or hiking trails, that arent super crowded, like a lot of other nearby places. Really pretty this time of year, but best to avoid it after heavy rains due to excessive mud. This is also basically the other side of the water from Green Belt Park off 380. The only difference is that park costs 7 dollars a person and isnt nearly as beautiful. This place is totally free. There is also a small museum onsite but I am not sure what it is as it was closed when we were there.

I have been hiking here for eleven years. Birding is exceptional with water and shore birds, prairie birds and forest varieties as well. Dusk is a brilliant time to see armadillos and owls. Hikers should be vigilant in scanning the trails ahead of them, especially the wetland trails in the spring as water moccasin, sunning on the trail (aka Cotton mouth snakes) can easily be mistaken for a branch or stick. Feral hogs, dear, coyote, bob cat and many other wildlife call this place home- please take your trash back out with you. In recent years the trails have been mostly well maintained and new signs have been added and a new parking lot (off of fishermans trail, near Hartlee Field Road). Saturdays can be busy and sometimes during the week many children from local schools explore the trails. Usually, however, I never run into more than one or two other hikers. It is a good idea to download an image of the map or take a picture of it if you are not familiar with the trails as GPS signals are not reliable here. The trails are fairly easy but a jogging stroller can be easily stuck (Usually on the high trail or wetlands trail) if it has been raining at all. Otherwise the fishermans trail and prairie trails are more easily managed with a jogging stroller. I could say so much more but some things are best if left to be discovered!

Beautiful park with a fantastic set of trails. Easy to walk for any age group, there are no major inclines or rocky terrain That said, the one down side to the park is that much of the southern side is submerged with swamp water, making half of the trails unnavigable for days/weeks at a time. So either plan to only walk half the trail or bring wading shoes.

Beautiful trails to explore and reconnect with nature. Take a picture of the trail sign at the beginning though as the paths can get a bit confusing internally otherwise; the trails are marked with names but no maps on them so youll want the reference of how they connect. Not very stroller or wheelchair friendly in my opinion. Its free to park and to enter, and youll probably spend a few hours while there. Picnic tables available at the entrance and on one of the trails. My kids loved it (3 and 9) and it made for a great afternoon out with the whole family.

Wonderful walking trails with plenty of wildlife to watch. Dont go too soon after a rain as some of the trails may be closed and others will soggy and tricky to navigate. Often see people with fishing gear and there are benches along the shore of the lake.

Great place to get some fresh air and enjoy a nice relaxing walk in beautiful natural surroundings. Parking can be tight but the trails are open and not overly crowded. Plenty of options of you want a short walk or longer hike. Dogs are more than welcome.

We enjoyed our walk on a beautiful day. A couple of the trails were blocked which was a bit disappointing. Lot of bird song. This would be a great place in the summer too. Trails are well marked. Enjoyed the path along the creek. Not as much trash in the creek as we see in the Dallas area

A nice place to walk the trails. Theres water, large birds, and some mud. The old wetlands road is flooded at times. There are benches to sit on. Some bridges have been washed away.

Great area for an easy hike. No elevation changes (pro and con), and feels far more remote than it actually is

I love running this trail when it is dry. Which is not a lot of the time. After rain, since the majority of the preserve is low lands, the pond and creek flood and make mud and mush, cutting off 2/3 of the trail. It stays like this for weeks. I ve learned it s just not really worth going during those times. If there hasn t been rain in a while, I do recommend checking out this trail as I love the 2.5 mile loop that goes through trees, around a big pond which has a giant lotus garden in late spring/early summer, and along a river. I have seen swimming raccoons, blue herons, and a herd of pigs (which will stay away and won t bother you if you don t bother them). **Beware of poison ivy it is abundant off the trail in the trees brush up on ivy, oak, and sumac identification if you are a curious into-the-trees explorer! Enjoy.
