Due to circumstances out of my control I found myself coming to this office looking for representation with only 48 hours until my hearing date. It seemed like an impossible task for sure. Im very happy with this firm. Highly recommend. Mr. Scazzero and his assistant Amy did a great job. They handled every step of the way in a professional and timely manner. Always responded to our questions and sent me updates on the case as needed. Other than that they were very independent so that I could sit back and let them do their job. Ryan Bennett provided quality enough service to encourage me to do something I almost never do, which is write a Google Review. His guidance was exemplary, above five star. While he did an superior job, I seldom apply five star ratings. In fact, I discount either one or five star ratings when I read reviews. My preferred choice is a four star rating with five star comments. They show more credibility to me. He guided me in placing a lien on an open loan that had been ongoing for several years without success. He coordinated with other attorneys, provided guidance, and consistently displayed his official title of Counselor. In fact, in my phone contacts, out of respect I give him the title of Counselor. Although I have other resources I use for general law, and Ryan is aware of them, he provided the time and special expertise I needed for this one case. He showed patience with the recipient of the loan, who kept delaying providing the documents needed and subsequently signatures required. I definitely recommend Ryan for any complicated case that needs special attention. .

After being granted a well deserved judgment in Small Claims Court, the defendant chose to appeal to a higher court. This caused me to require legal representation. After several days of calling law offices, the common theme was, we are too busy. I was thoroughly discouraged, as I had an upcoming court date. I previously had a family court case with Mrs Bode as my counsel, that ended with a favorable joint custody agreement in 2020. At the end of 2022, my childs mother (joint conservator) had passed away. Within hours of her death, her husband immediately communicated that he would be adopting my son for full custody. Within seconds of receiving that information, I immediately called Mrs Bode in Denton county and (doing my best to keep my emotions restrained) I told her the situation. Knowing me, Mrs Bode working with me for about 9 months in 2019/2020, selflessly instrucked me to fly up to Dallas and reclaim my son. She aggressively counciled me with only one objective: you need to get your son. He needs his father and to earn roll him into Central Texas where I live. Nothing else mattered to her in that time period. Knowing that financial services would go to a local Travis county lawyer. In those next 72 hours, Mrs Bode persistently demanded updates hourly on the situation. The family court case was determined to stay in Denton county, but her decisive actions prevented many legal obstacles that the other party was attempting to establish against me. As soon as it was established that Denton was the deciding county, Mrs Bode did what she did best. Fight. Every moment was pressure, much aggravation on my part, and perseverance. Every morning to evening, instructions to me was mechanical and relentless in collecting all data, facts, medical records, communication documentation to the strictest detail. This was not a point too simply win this case, it was a means to get my son in the best care possible. That was with his father. For some context, a primary issue of our original court order (2020), was that we fought for my sons special needs services, being high level autistic elementary student. Before the first court order agreement, his autism and speech impediment were not acknowled, and services were odenied before Mrs Bode involvement in the 2020 joint custody case. Back to the current 2023 custody court case: The day of court was embarrassing for the opposing party. Not only had Mrs Bodes team prepared me for every possible Court scenario (which every day until court, we fought constantly regarding my readiness), but her teams own preparation for interrogation of the opposing witnesses, resulted in the judge having to constantly educate/reprimand the opposing witness and council in being in accordance to obeying Denton Family Court law. I would have felt bad, but they wanted to take me from my sons life. Fuck em. By the time the opposing counsel came to examine me, I lasted about 4 minutes on the stand. I believe the opposing counsel wanted to get me off the stand as quick as possible. 2 weeks later we received a statement from the courts that the judge awarded full guardian rights and responsibilities to me, over my son. All requests from the other party were denied. Conclusion: Because of Mrs Bode, I am able to give my son the specific medical, social, recreational and religious needs that are entitled to every child. But most of all, he gets his father, and I got my son.

If there was a way to put more stars I would! I hired Brian and his firm to do a step parent adoption. From start to finish Brian and his paralegal Pamela were awesome. They sent the discovery paperwork once I returned it they had the paperwork done within a day. He warned me that it could be a lengthy process depending on the circumstances. He was able to send me to a social worker and we were able to schedule and complete the home study within a couple of weeks. Then Covid happened and it changed how some of the process would happen. Even with Covid occurring we were able to get it completed within a couple of months. Then they even facilitated the birth certificate/name change. So when I had to find someone to help me through a pretty rough patch, I was lucky to be pointed toward Kirsten Bode here at HBWV. This was my first modification from my first decree and happened after 5 years and waited so long because its expensive, so naturally, I needed to make sure every penny was worth it. Kirsten was worth it. I was recommended to Kirsten by a lawyer and recommend her because she was real with me and my options. She listened to my whole story thoughtfully and patiently. She responds promptly. She is smart so she can make recommendations quickly. At first, her quick recommendations made me nervous. But after I asked tons of follow up questions, her recommendation was the best. She would even bring up aspects that I didnt think of, and thats exactly what I expect in a good lawyer; to tell me what I don t know. During the mediation, she made sure to advocate for the most optimal outcome. She pushed me when I was being too conservative and pulled me when I was being unrealistic. She knows how to empathize and relate, which I needed in order for her to be on my side, instead of seeing me as just another case. Im leaving a longer review because I depended on reviews when searching for a lawyer, even though she was recommended by a lawyer. I will be going back to her whenever I need any follow up support. Also, something I learned while searching for a family lawyer.. dont think you have to go with someone that is board certified. If you know youll be going to court, then you should consider. But, if if youd rather save money and finish it up with mediation, then go with someone who is smart, empathetic, and knows the law in and out, and knows your judge.

I hired the firm to fight a fine received from a city in the amount of $17k. After a couple half hour meetings and one council meeting appearance my bill came to over $4k. Then I was required to leave a retainer of $5000 which was never used or returned. My fine was never resolved as I was told that if the city was not going to pursue it that was all they could do. The firm kept my retainer with no more work being performed, and when i asked for it or to use it for more legal help, i was informed that it was no longer in an account for me and we would have to start again. I wouldnt use them again if they paid me. Unscrupulous if you ask me. $9k spent, that they were sure they could get to a decent resolution. Never happened and i still have an outstanding fine for $17000. But they did their best, it happens sometimes at least that is what i was told.

Kirsten Bode: I don t know where to begin, nor do I have enough words to describe my experience with Kirsten. She is MORE than just an attorney. She upholds her profession very well, and is extremely educated. You know the saying you get what you pay for ? Well I definitely got more than what I paid for. She is very personable, and allows you to tell your story without judgement. I felt so comfortable talking to her, although it was difficult for me to discuss why I was there and why I needed her to begin with. I have been seeking help prior to meeting Kirsten and I felt defeated in my situation. She did not make me feel that at all. She was very transparent and honest about the entire process, so I wasn t led on with any false hope or promises to win justice if it really was not in our reach! I was not impressed in working with the younger Berry. His documents kept coming to us with simple typos, like our names being misspelled and addresses incorrect, so we had to keep sending them back with the corrections. He even misspelled my name on the last email of his correspondence. The Court order that we were waiting on to get our child added to our insurance was completed 8 days before I finally reached out to him and ask where it was. The form that took him 15 minutes to complete and 45 minutes file, while we were the editors, used up the entire retainer; there was no way he earned it and then when I asked for a statement, he told me he believed the trust was all used up Yes, 2000 for 1 hour of work. WOW!! These attorneys are so arrogant!! William Scazzero acted like my case was too petty or dinky for him to handle! REALLY??? You hav to hav a big civil case! Also just got off the ph with Don White and just as arrogant!! At least William or Billy referred to me another attornry, Hunter Sargent, at Minor and Jester! Hunter looked over my case and told me that he didnt want to handle my case because of the language in it! Really?? Its like its too small for this company, but too big for Minor and Jester!! My story is probably fairly similar to a lot of individuals that have gone through divorces. There was nothing extreme, but there were things that became difficult at times. Being that this was a divorce of a marriage of 12 years, there were emotions and feeling very much wrapped up in the conversations had by my ex and I. There are a few things I would like to say about Brian Tackett and how he acted as my lawyer during this time. 1) Top notch professionalism: Brian at all times during the year long divorce was doing what a lawyer should do, and more, for his client. He gave me solid advice and helped guide me, not just legally, but emotionally during the situation. He made sure that I kept a cool head in times where the heat was turned up by my ex, and he recommended several ways to reach agreements that would ultimately get me where I needed to be during the divorce decree. Basically, Brian did exactly what I hired him to do, represent me, and he did without fail in a very earnest and professional way. 2) Great job: Brian not only was professional, but he was plain good at what he did. I ve never needed a lawyer before, so I didn t know what to expect during this process, but I m sure I lucked out finding Brian. Brian took care of pretty much everything. He knows most of the lawyers in the area, so when he heard my wife s lawyer s name, he knew her, and acted accordingly for my benefit within the parameters of their relationship. This was a tool that he was able to use, among others, during the process. He knew what to write up, where to write it, how to word it, and prepped me for all possible rebuttals that may come once my side of the decree had been submitted. This was extremely helpful. Furthermore, he was able to get most everything that I needed or wanted. He was always able to change anything I needed changed and readily adapted to my thoughts and feelings about particular areas of the divorce proceedings. Also, I have emailed and spoken with Brian several times after the divorce was over, asking him various questions, and he has always promptly responded and helped, all without any expectation of payment for his services or advice. He is freaking smart and great at his job! 3) Friendly: Brian is a very likable guy. He doesn t make you feel like you are being interviewed for a job when speaking with you. He s laid back, calm, polite, and he laughs and smiles a lot, which can be very disarming (a very needed at times) when my stress level was at a level 10. Having him representing himself as someone that actually cares about what I m going through just made the process much more bearable. When someone needs a lawyer, finding someone that is not just well versed at their job, but also cares about their job and clients, well, it s an area of being a lawyer that I m not quite sure a lot of lawyers can honestly say they are able to work within. Brian nails it. 4) Cost: I can t necessarily speak to knowing what is a good price for a lawyer, but what I can say is that I walked away after everything was said and done feeling like I got one hell of a deal on Brian s services. Not only that, but Brian knew my financial situation and worked with me as much as necessary in order to make it easier for me. The great thing was that cutting my bill didn t cut his services, and that is something I couldn t be more grateful for. In closing, I will say this. There are numerous options for lawyers for pretty much anything that you are going through. My experience was with divorce, and my lawyer was Brian Tackett. I couldn t have chosen a better lawyer to represent me and if you are looking for someone to be on your side, give some consideration to Brian. I guarantee you that you will not be sorry for that choice, and with as many lawyers out there saying how great they are, but you can t really know for sure, choosing Brian will be a peace of mind that is worth more than you probably know right now as you read this.
