Just had brunch there with my son & daughter in law. The food was fantastic. Everything was exactly what we ordered. Our server Gracia ( I hope Im spelling it right) was so polite and funny and very helpful. She came back often to check on us to make sure that if we needed anything, she would get it for us. The restaurant was very clean and well run. Very calm Atmospher there as well. I would definitely highly recommend this establishment. Very happy customers here.

My sister and I had a delightful brunch here! Our waitress, Grecia, was personable, fun, warm and attentive and the food was delicious! We loved the Banana Nutella French Toast! It was light and fluffy and full of flavor! We also loved the lavender latte! Thank you so much for a great brunch experience! We will definitely be back!

Cozy place to enjoy brunch or breakfast. Portions are very large. We couldnt even finish our food. The food was outstanding. The service is superb. My daughter found this place, and we met there today. I am so impressed. I wished we had this where I live. It is one hour from me and I will.most definitely be visiting there again. If you are in Denton, give this place a try. You will be glad you did.

We were there with a large group, reservations were made. The server was friendly and drink orders were promptly taken and delivered, but it took over 30 minutes to have food orders taken and even longer than that to get the food. Once the food arrived, we were barely checked on and management handled one issue horribly. We decided it was easier to leave than to try to get the issue resolved.

Michelle (The owner of Risen Sun Restauant) is the friendliest Restaurant owner I have ever meet. It also shows in her employees. They are all friendly, helpful & care for our enjoyment while there. Their food is Very Delicious . My grand children only ask to go there for breakfast. They serve Lunch as well. If you have not been there to eat, Please try them out. Cute café near the Cinemark! Our waitress was very attentive and took excellent care of me and my girlfriend! Our food was delicious and reasonably priced! I got the cherry blossom latte and chicken and waffles. Absolutely, amazing!! We will definitely be coming back in the future! They also have a drive thru for coffee and Danish orders. This place is amazing. Wish we would have come here sooner, but we will definitely be back. The food was delicious and the portions were huge especially compared to the price. All that being said the best part was how they treated our puppy. Not only did everyone come out to play and love on him, but they even brought him his own bowl of water and offered to bring him some sausage or bacon. Very pet friendly.

Food was good, servers polite. My main sticking point was the prices. Example, 2 blueberry pancakes, $10, side of 2 sausage patties $4. I really wanted something more than just sugar pancakes (which were delicious) but $4 for a side of sausage just seemed a little much. I get it, they are a small local business, but at another small cafe nearby I could have gotten a pancake platter for $11.49 and gotten 2 eggs, and 2 meat for the extra $1.50 for similar food quality. So, good food, but sadly the value wasnt there. Fortunately it was just my husband and myself. We would have gone broke if we had taken our kiddo too!

Man, the portions! Huge is an understatement!!! We had the Corned Beef Hash Plate and a Meat Omelette. The Corned Beef Hash Plate was enormous! Apart from the beef, the servings of potatoes, and salad were a lot. We had enough for the next day! Oh, and by the way, they tasted great. The Omelette was good too but probably wasnt the best. Still no complaints though. The Cappuccino was quite good too. Service was awesome!! Overall, a highly recommended gem at Denton!!!

We ordered the grits bowl and Denver omelet. The grits were tasteless, a half piece of bacon, and one egg with maybe 3 pieces of cheese. The Denver omelet was dripping in grease, we could not even eat the items we ordered. Also we had pancakes that had a horrible after tast. We spoke with the New owners and she stated that there were significant menu changes. I might add the changes are not for the good. A waste of time money. Find another place. Walked in on a Sunday morning. About 3 tables had people at them. We were told to sit anywhere. We chose a table to the left and the couple behind us said they called in for a group and sat to the right. After a few minutes a waitress came up and gave us menus but never asked what we wanted to drink. She then went back and started working on a ToGo order. Finally, she came back and asked us not for drinks but if we were ready to order. We ordered our food and drinks. Mean while the other couple and a second couple that walked in after us already had there coffee, OJ etc... We waited watching the waitress as she did everything besides get our drinks. Then it appeared a couple came in and sat at the bar that she knew. They barely sat down and our waitress promptly served them coffee. Still nothing for us. I cant speak to the quality of food or the portions as I read in another post. What I can tell you is that the service was horrible and I will never go back to this cafe. Sidewalk cafe is within walking distance of this place and got us in served us a great breakfast with smiling faces. Please dont waste your time going to Rising Sun.

Not far from Buc-cees, about 0.5 mile off highway 35. Parking: The restaurant has enough parking for being 90% full within the building. You can be creative.

The food was delicious! The biggest problem I have is the fact that we found them because we were staying at the Hilton which was right around the corner from them and theyre online menu prices are less than half of what they are in the actual restaurant! $66 bucks For 3 ham omelet plates, biscuits and gravy plate, 2 iced teas and a coffee. Plates included crispy hash browns and fried potato chunks. Like I said, food was delicious but they really need to update their website prices. I truly felt deceived when I opened the menu!!!

The chicken and waffles are next level!! Amazingly sweet and juicy waffle (that doesnt even need butter! syrup is a great addition though) with crispy, tender chicken that pairs great with ranch. I am giving this place a 2 star review just because of the food, they are extremely nice and excellent customer service. The food though, is just not it, the new owner changed a lot of it. The eggs are extremely runny like Im eating egg soup. I dont like the new combos, who puts onion in a bacon breakfast burrito, just doesnt go well. The chicken and burgers are always dry, per my co-workers and I. They took all the paintings down, which gave it a nice feeling of a coffee shop. When I got the burrito today, of course I finished it because I paid for the food and my mom always said not to waste food. Not getting food here anymore, when I used to be a frequent customer. We are visiting from out of town and stumbled upon this diner cause it was near our hotel. What a great find! The staff is super friendly and the food is great. We both had breakfast burritos which were really flavorful, filled with egg, cheese and sausage (my son had pulled pork burrito). The breakfast potatoes were terrific as well. Top it off with strawberry bread pudding and we had a perfect breakfast. Reasonably priced, decent portions but not over the top. Outdoor seating as well. We ll be back.

Overall is a good experience. Nice little breakfast place in the neighborhood. Food took about 15 mins to come out when it wasnt busy at all but i think the chef took his/her time to cook because food came out perfectly and tasted delicious. We will come back

What happened to the food here? We ordered breakfast burritos to go all the time and they WERE the best but then they stopped having online ordering and so we had to call in our order, which no big deal but the burritos taste like gas station quality for twice the price. This place is ruined for us. We will never go back

I love this little breakfast spot! My husband and I often bike here during the summer. Its certainly worth a try, you can eat indoors or outdoors. They have the best pancake, chicken sandwich, and tater tots! And their Staff is so kind, they are quick to greet and ensure youre always taken care of. If you dont feel like dining in you can hit up the drive through too

2/18 Update: This place no longer feels like an warehouse! Quality, made from scratch and absolute delicious! The shrimp and grits on the new menu is a must!! A fantastic hidden gem! Had the bacon burrito and blueberry pancake, excellent!!! 12/17/2022 Update: Revisited again today and to my surprise the floors aren t sticky and the restaurant feels cleaner, condiments were on the tables and not in the corner of the restaurant where as before you had to go get everything including silverware yourself and actually had real cups for our drinks rather than styrofoam cups. The place no longer had the gas station rest stop feel and the staff was friendlier than before. Was informed restaurant is under new ownership. Previous owner must not had much experience or just didn t care. Definitely worth visiting on a frequent basis.

I see a lot of previous patrons complaining about the cost increase but realistically, inflation is undeniable. I went to Panera recently and ordered 2 sandwiches, a salad, and 3 drinks and ended up paying more than $70.00! It is what it is. However, I AM pleased with the service and quality at this cafe as the owners ALWAYS remember and welcome me. I will be a repeat customer here than a chain, where the 18 year-olds barely look at me when they take my payment, thank you very much. Thank you Rising Sun Cafe!

My wife and I were frequent patrons of this establishment in the past but it seems to have fallen under new management within the past month or two. Sophia was our server and was great. BUT, the menu has been changed and most of our previous favorite dishes were no longer on the menu and what was still on the menu had been altered. The biggest alteration though has been the price. 6 months ago we could both order a Two Egg Plate each, accompanied with a coffee each for approx. $25 +tip. This morning we spent $49 +tip on breakfast for two people. The pricing is absurd. $6 for a single pancake is unreasonable even with inflation. After receiving the bill I wasn t surprised that my wife and I were the only customers in the cafe on a Saturday at midday. Disappointed is an understatement.

We have been coming here for years as it was one of our favorite breakfast places. However it is under new ownership with a new menu & higher prices. Initially when we came in they told us they had a new menu and we were thinking maybe they had added a few things. We were excited. After looking it over, we realized the prices had substantially increased. I was surprised to find that one pancake as a side is $6 and a latte that was below average was $10. I will not say the food was bad, it was again average, but not worth the price. For two of us- breakfast was around $60 with tip. We are disappointed. We wanted to give it a chance, but I can not justify spending $60 on the quality of food that we received.

It s absurd. If they don t go back to the way things were, they are going to be the next victim of restaurants closing in Denton. They won t last like this

I have been going to Rising Sun Cafe for several years. Stopped in today for breakfast and saw it was under new ownership. All I can say is if you havent been there in awhile, do yourself a favor and go. It was excellent. The new owners are very friendly and interact with their customers very well. I believe I will be going more frequently now. Congratulations to the new owners. I wish you the best.

The employees are extremely friendly, but the food was disappointing. My family has dined here a handful of times in the past, but I think something has changed. Maybe new ownership? Not sure. The photos are half of the fried chicken sandwich I ordered. The chicken on one half of the sandwich barely covered a quarter of the bread it was served on. The pancakes were much smaller and inconsistent in size than our experience in the past. The syrup was thick and possibly expired? Overall, the experience was extremely disappointing.

Decided to give this place a try and definitely will not be coming back. I ordered a breakfast sandwich and asked for the English muffin to be toasted. My sandwich came out without being toasted and I got a dry egg with hardly any cheese. I got charged full price for the subpar food even after telling the waitstaff that I was not satisfied. They even charged $1.50 for the 2 shreds of cheese that was in my egg! It s too bad because the venue is nice.

Truly disappointed in this restaurant. Came here years ago and experience was great but todays was poor. Ordered a side of sausage was $2.25 and only got 1 piece and it wasnt even fully cooked. The hashbrowns were basically deep fried and your fork couldnt pick them up to eat and while they say their prices have increased there was no update to the menu nor did waitress mention this only a sign on the door. At least go to a QR code if your true prices arent reflected on your menu. Will not be returning again.

Veeerrryyy slow for a 10:30am breakfast experience. The place wasnt busy (5 tables being served with 3 already having their food) yet it took 30 min to get our order for 2. Food was average. Bacon was fortgotten and then came out burnt. Sausage was deliverd on the vegetarian omlet plate. Service was attentive, but almost bothersome (offering to refill our beverages at least 10x). Wasnt the worst experience, but we wont be returning.

NEW OWNER, NEW WAIT STAFF, NEW KITCHEN STAFF -- -------- If you were ever a fan of the once locally owned, friendly, family-run, artsy cafe this place used to be, dont go back. We were horrified to find our hashbrowns mushy in an actual pool of cold water on the plate. Our regular servers were all gone. The new people were OK but barely said a word to us, not even their names, and never once checked our coffee. We heard shouting from the kitchen, but there is a shower curtain up across the door so we could not see inside. No sign of managers or the new owner. We had cold plates, cans of flat soda, a dirty table, and ridiculous wait times.

Extremely long wait for below average food. We sat down, had to ask for silverware, placed our order, then waited 40 minutes for my wife to receive her food. I didn t receive my food until 15 minutes after that. Both of our meals were mediocre at best when they arrived. If you do go, don t order the hash browns. It seemed like other waitresses and the owner were very kind and hospitable, but we still won t be returning

Update - been eating here for over three years. Showed up today and sign on the door says closing at 12:00 noon today due to inclement weather. We walked in at 11:25 am we were met by the hostess with we aren t taking any more tables . The bad weather is just a little bit of rain. So we are now sitting at Sidewalk Cafe next door. They welcomed us in and we are having a Fantastic breakfast. We have found our new breakfast spot. Good bye Rising Sun. It s been great giving you our money for over three years. Walked in today at 11:30am and the sign says they are closing at noon. Waitress stopped us at the front door and said sorry we are not taking anymore tables we are closing today due to bad weather very upsetting when you get out in the rain to just eat at their restaurant. Our first time here and it definitely wont be our last! The art work for sale was really pretty. But i got the pulled pork burrito and it was pretty flavorful and a good portion of meat and eggs for only $6! The hash browns were on point and my girlfriend loved her Haystack Plate. Unfortunate they dont sell sweet tea but a minor flaw for a great brunch spot

A disappointing experience. Though the interiors of this cafe was beautiful, the drinks were served in styrofoam cups, it would have been nice if they swapped it with mugs to elevate the experience. They were out of chicken and the food was only decent. Though the waiter was sweet, she was forgetful. The place was noisy even with just a few people. It just wasn t worth the lovely sunday brunch we had looked forward to.

Today is our first and last time here. I ordered the veggie scramble and husband ordered two egg plate. He ordered over medium eggs and they were fried very hard. The first thing that we noticed when our plates made it to the table was how dirty the eggs and other items were. I could clearly see that the grill is not being cleaned. The whole wheat toast was not toast at all. It was whole wheat bread slathered in butter and placed on the plate to warm up. I sent my toast back and asked for a toasted English muffin which came to the table not toasted nor buttered. It was a colossal waste of our time and our money. Our waitress was completely devoid of any personality and had a very bad attitude when I swapped out the toast for an English muffin. When I asked about jelly she pointed at a table across the room and told me to get it myself. I dont know why anyone would say this is a good place to grab breakfast because it was truly the worst breakfast that weve ever had.

If youre looking for a simple but delicious breakfast, this is the place. I ordered their Three Egg Plate with Sausage and Bacon and substituted wheat toast with a regular pancake. Let me tell you that the scrambled egg was perfectly cooked and oh sooo good! The star of the show though, was the crispy hash brown; never before had I enjoyed hash brown so much! Try them out! Had breakfast at this location this morning. Ordered 2 eggs sausage and hashbrowns. Hashbrowns were so burnt they resembled shredded potato chips chips. Sausage was very small and also burnt. Eggs were ok. Toast was warm bread not toast. The wifes meal was burnt bacon and non edible hashbrowns. To add injury to insult it was 65 degrees in there. First and last trip same-day.
