Denton Rudy needs to learn how to chop its moist brisket. Ive worked at a barbecue restaurant before and too much fat is a no no. Chop the fat meat until it isnt noticeable. Smooth and tasty then and customers will come back. These young new guys dont how to chop.

Went to Rudys for some breakfast this morning. Using the drive thru, I pulled up and asked for 2 breakfast tacos, one Rudys chop and one jalapeño sausage. She repeated back 2 brisket, 2 Rudys chop and one sausage. I said no, no, just one Rudys chop and one jalapeño sausage please. At which time she said oh sorry before I finished speaking, gave me my total, and asked if I would like salsa or BBQ sauce? BBQ, regular I replied. After paying and leaving, I found 3 tacos in my bag (brisket, Rudys chop, and plain sausage) along with 3 cups of salsa. I understand mistakes, but when you rush to overcorrect, you tend to make it worse. I wont be back for a while, not a great way to start the morning.

I had high hopes for this BBQ spot, and while there were some hits, there were also a few misses. The brisket is fantastic tender and flavorful, just as it should be. The pulled pork has a good flavor too, making it a solid choice. However, I was disappointed that the BBQ sauce is prepackaged; I prefer something more homemade. Now, onto the sides: no mac & cheese, which was a letdown for me. The creamed corn wasn t worth it, and the corn-on-the-cob seemed like it had been sitting in water for too long. The cole slaw and potato salad were pretty standard nothing special, just your average side dishes. Overall, the meat is where this place shines, but the sides and sauce left me wanting more. If they could step up their game there, it could be a real winner.

This is one of my favorite BBQ restaurants in Texas. The food is usually amazing at all their locations. I stopped by today to grab a smoked potato with brisket and coleslaw. The coleslaw was great and the smoked potato with brisket is usually really good however my potato was kind of cold and hard as well as the brisket and when I let the staff know about it they were unable to heat it up more and did not offer to replace it so I had to eat it cold. This is why I gave 4 stars instead of 5.

Excellent turkey sandwich and loaded baked potato with sliced beef. Easy access from the highway, with plenty of parking. We had no wait for lunch on a Monday. Service was awesome and the food delivered promptly. Overall a great lunch experience we plan to do again!

I am of the opinion that Rudy s is the best chain barbecue around. The brisket is juuuuust the right level of moist, the sausage is, to me, the standard by which sausage is judged and the new potatoes with butter are just so delectable. This Denton locale also has delish breakfast tacos as well. Parking: Very very easy to miss the turn in. Best to google map it even if you have a general idea of where it is. Kid-friendliness: My kid loves the ribs. Wants them constantly.

The cashier used the same gloves she touched the money and cards with to make our food. I watched her check out several people and make food without ever changing gloves. On top of that, our loaded baked potato had very little meat on it, way less than usual. There was also a huge mess behind the counter where they were prepping the food. Rudys used to be clean. This place used to be one of my favorites. But lately the inconsistent quality of the food has lead to the conclusion that they just arent worth the cost anymore. The brisket used to be the best but now its just a dry, flavorless, crumbling mess to the point of being inedible. The ribs are so undercooked they are chewy and flavorless. With prices as they are its just not worth the cost anymore.

It is easy to miss the driveway into the restaurant so be on the lookout or you will pass it. The staff was SUPER nice. This was our 1st time here so they explained the menu & process. I have gone to 3 different Rudys. They are very consistent from the food to the service. I absolutely recommend it. They give you a nice size portion. The brisket is juicy, flavorful, and lean upon request. It doesnt require sauce either. Its the best Ive had. Their ribs are delicious, both pork and beef. Usually this place is delicious! Today around 12:50 we ordered a lot of food. The food smelled bad in the bag as it never has before. Very strong and sour and foul. We didn t think much of it (assumed the place just smelled bad and it transferred to the food) and ate it anyways. My mom and I now have indigestion , nausea and vomiting. We got food poisoning today . Perhaps they were too busy to insure the meat wasn t spoiled before serving it. Waste of $45. We don t live close other wise we would have returned it.

First and last time at Rudys. We went through the drive through last night and I wanted some baby back ribs. They immediately told us they were running low. I said thats fine, I didnt want a lot anyways, so maybe like 1/4lb. I was told that was only like 1-2 ribs so I then asked for 3-4. Yet when we got the receipt, I was charged for over a lb of ribs (mind you, they just told me 1-2 was 1/4lb, but suddenly 3-4 is over a lb...). Whatever though, we paid and left to go home and eat. When I tell you these were the driest, toughest, fattiest ribs I have ever had.... I had 2 last night and 2 today- pics are of all the fat I cut off the two today... yall, go to Kroger, Texas Roadhouse, literally anywhere else for your BBQ needs.

There isnt much that I order from Rudys that Im not content with. This time I did order a rack of baby back ribs and an ear of and my basset hound and I ate them all and enjoyed the meat for the most part. I really am only a fan of meat that is smoked with a dry rub that they do well, but I do have to complain the rub seems almost too spicy as it tastes more like a peppercorn rub. Im just not a fan of too spicy to enjoy kind of seasoning. Otherwise my Bassett and I enjoyed the ribs and corn.

It rang up $3.79. I pointed out that the sign clearly says $3.29, and I was told brisket is different... Then why doesnt the sign say that?? So I went with a bacon, egg and cheese taco instead. This location has been good for the most part. I have to commend them for trying something new and adding to their menu. We normally eat here once a month and our last visit should have been the same. We ventured outside of our box with the new jalopeno and cheese links, and this was probably the driest links I have ever paid for. Other then that, our food was good but the smoke flavor tasted off possibly because of the wood. We dealt with this before at another (different) name bbq location and found out they were burning pallets! I hope this isnt what they were burning, but the flavor was off and not normal. Great atmosphere with plenty of seating and parking.

Were usually very happy with Rudys, but the guy they had cutting brisket at 6:45 Friday night was incredibly rude. 2 lbs of brisket should not be a couple huge pie shaped wedges of literally pure fat. Best BBQ in Texas. Babyback ribs are a must. Make sure and take home a bottle of sauce. Turkey is great and there is lean and moist brisket. Prime rib and peppered tenderloin on Friday and Saturday until they run out. Regular and spicy sausage. White and wheat bread available. Sweet corn, Cole slaw, potato salad. Several types of ribs. Very good selection of meats. Cost is by the pound so be careful its easy to over buy. But you can always take it home. Eat of off paper plates, and everything is delivered at counter when you order in a basket.

The chicken was cold, as was everyone else s, the sausage was cold, and the jalapeño s from the vegetable bar were soggy. The only thing warm was the creamed corn and the cream was the consistency of warm milk. To top it off, they don t even serve fried okra or macaroni and cheese. First time in Texas and absolutely delicious!!! I recommend the ribs brisket and cream corn and smoked baked potato. Enough for the first review because that s all I could consume. Hahahaha, enjoy!!!

Waited 20min in the drive thru only to receive a breakfast taco covered in wet egg and grease. Literally the tortilla and foil were soaked. We used to come here every weekend for breakfast tacos, but have had to stop because it s gone so down hill. The food quality is poor, often get burnt or overly greasy bacon, the service is slow and usually a frustrating experience. We try and go here for dinner from time to time too but run into similar issues.

After being curious about Rudys for quite some time, I can honestly say I was thoroughly UNDERwhelmed by my experience there around 1:30 pm this afternoon. Upon entering, we were greeted in a friendly manner by the older gentleman stationed near the door. That was it for friendly staff... The young lady taking our order was beyond rude in her interaction with us and it seemed like she took her time gathering our order together. After she handed us the bag of food, we had to ask where to get our drinks.... She didnt bother giving us cups for it so my husband helped himself. We ordered moist brisket, prime rib, peppered tenderloin and green chili stew. The stew was the biggest disappointment- bland, desperately in need of salt, pepper and some herbs because who makes stew without herbs? Blah.... Dinty more is better. The best option was by far the moist brisket with a nicely charred bark and decent smoke flavor although I think I tasted the chemical remains of liquid smoke- yuk. The peppered tenderloin tasted only of pepper (seriously, everything was deficient in the salt department) and the prime rib was disappointingly bland as well. I dont recommend this restaurant. Too bad.

I ordered a sausage sandwich and my sister ordered a baked potato with ham on it. She liked the potato pretty good, but my sandwich was not hot, and neither was her baked potato. We like ham, but it wasnt hot either! I cant understand why the food there is never hot--I can only tell you that Rudys is not my favorite place to eat!

Baked potato w/works, (brisket), Ive always had great service. This last time, I called in my order 07/24, picked up, and went home. Normally chking my food b4 leaving any place. I never had anything missing when coming here. So, Id only received potato, cheese, sour cream. I immediately called and spoke w/ Mngr. While writing this, I realized I didnt receive my refund, I chkd my bank to confirm, then called Rudys, spk with manager Kyle, who verified and refunded my $13.90. He greatly apologized, which I appreciated very much. So, an incomplete order would not deter me from ordering there again. It just would only ensure I check my future orders. But the way it was handled, they will continue to have me has a customer, because the foid is very delicious .

Moist beef brisket and mild sausage is great. Good beans and BBQ beans, potato salad, cream corn, cold slaw its all good. Always consistent. Two kinds of sauce, original, and sissy sauce.:) Desserts not a specialty here.

Great location, easy access from I35 - open early for breakfast so perfect for picking up some BBQ on way to family reunion - sliced moist brisket and babyback ribs + beans (so good). All a hit at the reunion!

Our meat was supposed to be moist we got to take out and when we got home it was just a chunk of fat in the process are high at all barbecue places now and I understand that but we spent a lot of money for a big chunk of fat meat so I would suggest that you check your food before you leave so you wont be disappointed cuz Rudys really is a good place whoever sliced that should have taken more care is all I can say

The food was cooked; thats about it. Its not Real Texas BBQ. No seasoning. You have to drown it in sauce to get any flavor. Its self-serve after you get your food, including bussing your table, which are just folding tables and chairs. We, at least, expected trays, not over-sized produce baskets. The experience was not enough to make us come back.

I must say the customer service to me was superb. I love the fact that they were so attentive. But what really caught my attention was the food. There is a gentleman there by the name of Jerry. He makes the best ribs. Super juicy. Falls off the bone. If you shall visit try them. You will not be disappointed

Worst BBQ Ive ever had in Texas..I spent alot of money..I ordered tri tip,sausage, ribs,and potato salad. The only thing that wasnt dry was the sausage. THE TRI TIP WAS WAY OVER SMOKED..THE RIBS WERE SO TUFF..TERRIBLE..DIDNT EVEN GIVE ME SAUCE..I HAD TO MAKE MY OWN!! GROSS! DONT RECCOMEND EVER!!

Greeting I really appreciate the experience from Rudy s BBQ. The cook Jerry was his name, I know! because I had to ask who cook them ribs that fell off the bone. They were soooooooooooooooooo delicious I will be back for more with my friends and for some of that chicken from the big Jerry
