Great Tex-Mex! The food was amazing! And the chips and salsa were so good. Definitely one of my new favs! The place was packed with every table full, yet the service was quick, that s impressive! I even asked for a number of extras like fresh jalapeños, pico de gallo, extra salsa and sour cream, and they were quick to get them for me. Churros are the best I ve ever had! The restrooms were also clean, always means a lot to me! Will definitely be back!

This used to be our favorite neighborhood restaurant pre-pandemic. The margaritas are still good but something terrible has happened to the food--at least the brunch menu. My breakfast bowl did have some nice hot diced sweet potato and lots of avocado chunks but the black beans seemed strait out of the can. The eggs were so so and meagre. My companions refried beans were watered down smashed pinto beans. Whoever prepared the huevos rancheros has never seen the original dish. The eggs were presented in pre-made frozen pastry cups. Over all, more Tex than Mex.

Visited this restaurant on July 4th, which came highly recommended by 2 families. And man we were not disappointed at all. The atmosphere was inviting. The decor was cute. The staff was friendly. Our servers name was Dulce. She was so sweet as her name indicates. She answered all my questions on the menu and drink menu. We got a bowl of queso blanco and got it spicy it was delicious the best queso we had in a while. The chips were crunchy and thick, red salsa was yummy. I had the enchiladas and my husband had the fish tacos. Both were flavorful and we enjoyed our meals. Dulce was nice, knowledgeable, customer focused and detail oriented. We are really glad we tried this place out. We will definitely be back for the food, great service and atmosphere. In fact as I type this we are headed there now for the Tuesday special. And we are going to ask for Dulce as our server. El vecino is a must try for sure.

It was my second time going, and I went with a couple of girl friends after thrifting. We ordered an order of beef nachos and a couple of mango margaritas while we talked. And were able to spend less than $35 !!! Its a beautiful and colorful restaurant everyone seemed to enjoy, and our server was amazing even if we did spend forever just sitting it the booth to only spend $30 I didnt get photos of the food or restaurant. The only photo I snagged is when I learned I got a job I had interviewed for such a fun day!!!

My family loves eating at El Vecino! We are always greeted at the host stand by John. He is so kind to us! We love their food and the atmosphere and we love that so many families come there. We are big fans of the salsa, blanco queso, and chips! We frequent to the sour cream chicken enchiladas, tacos, and fajitas! If you havent yet tried their brunch... it is also so good! We have had a server named Gabby the past several times and we ask for her when she is in- they are all great but she is extra sweet to our little boy and provides a wonderful service! You cant go wrong at El Vecino!

It s a wonderful place to eat, will definitely return. I had the daily special, 2 pork chops with jalapeño mash potatoes. The chop was delicious, tender and tasty, I didn t care too much for the mash potatoes. The table had the burrito, my granddaughter said it s amazing , she liked lt. has some enchiladas and they were also great. Mole chicken enchiladas were good, different , but good this what another granddaughter said. Satisfaction was obtained , a great place and will surely return.

Luís was our server and he was totally ON POINT! The food was out to us quickly and it was delicious. Good portions and a great price! I recommend Rudys Plate - beef taco, sour cream chicken enchilada, a beef enchilada, rice and refried beans. Ive been looking for a place which serves Mexican rice like I remember it from growing up in New Mexico. I finally found it! The place is right next to Bar None - in a shopping strip so there is plenty of parking. Go here; cold beer and tasty food- you wont be disappointed.

Thus place is truly a hidden gem. This was our first time here and we will definitely be back. It was well worth the drive from McKinney. Mt husband and daughter loved the red and green salsa, they said it had a kick that hit you right in the back of your throught. The chips were warm and really good. We came at happy hour so they had drink specials, the sangria Margarita is a must have. The service here is top notch, our waiter was very attentive and super nice. But the food is the crown jewel, my husband had the crabmeat Enchiladas which was the special and he loved it. I had the chicken Enchiladas which were perfecto, it had shredded chicken that was seasoned to perfection, I had to get no sause due to food allergies but they were still good. The Mexican rice was some of the best that I ever had. My daughter wanted to eat light so she had the vecina salad with marinated chicken that she raved about especially the lime vinaigrette. We truly were impressed by this restaurant and the prices, it is a myst stop whenever we are in the area.

After spending sometime at the beautiful white rock Lake, I decided to bring my three year old little boy to eat at this place based reviews sounded like a really good spot for Mexican food, our server was really nice and attentive made us some suggestions including the daily special but I had to decline the offer since I wasn t really hungry and my son was the one that needed it to get some food so I I ordered the loaded queso and after a few bites into something hard, which turned out to be a piece of bone or plastic couldn t tell but it was hard so I called our waiter and he apologized and took it away , a few minutes later someone that looked like the manager came back with another queso (and this is actually the reason why I only give this place 2 atars ) I understand nothing or nobody s perfect and things happen but As a manager, your responsibility should be to provide the best service possible even when something simple as a bone or a piece of plastic on the food happens instead, the only thing that she mentioned was oh it was a piece of onion dropped the queso and left ,

Nice atmosphere. The food is good, but not the best. Felt like the server wanted to rush us through our meal, and overcharged us for drinks. I overheard our server speaking poorly about my friend and myself to his coworkers because we were confused as to why he assumed we wanted top shelf tequila when we only specified that we wanted reposado ($15 for one margarita). Not to mention our food was cold, and the shrimp enchilada was disgusting. Definitely will not be returning.

This place is my favorite family friendly tex mex spot. Ive now been four times, and food and drinks are consistently good. Staff is very friendly. Weve waited for a table every time, but theres an area by the bar where we had our kids sit and we were able to enjoy the game that was in and a margarita while we waited. I will also say that this is by far the most reasonably priced tex mex place we have visited. Well continue to make this our go-to spot! Kid-friendliness: Very family friendly place. We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and the waitstaff was extremely helpful and present. The tomatillo sauce is a little too sweet and tart. I wish there was a chili cascabel sauce, as I am rather fond of that flavor. Our most recent visit was somewhat arduous. First, the waiter was long to arrive, and had to return to take our order a second time. This was in late afternoon, and the crowd was small. The waiter later came to tell us their e-server had crashed and couldnt take our payment. We sat for over 15 minutes after he finally presented our check, and we were very glad to finally leave. There was something that seemed like a wisecrack from the waiter about our choice from the menu being the Daily Special and maybe we will come back next week to order this again. Doubtful.

We were talking while walking in, but as the doors opened, we noticed an employee with menus l graciously waiting to guide us to a table. He then brought silverware and plates to the table and wished us a happy dining experience. Soon, another server arrived with chips and salsa and took our drink orders. I am trying to put out more reviews nowadays since I rely on reviews in my line of work, as well. My wife and I stopped by Saturday evening 12/9/23, for a spur of the moment date night. From the moment we walked in, the vibes were great. Daniel ( I think I got name right) was running the cocktail bar area and got things started on right foot. It was busy but he never skipped a beat and very gracious. We moved on to our table and immediately greeted, taken care of and served by a wonderful server that clearly had been doing what he does for awhile. Huge props for management for promptly hiring. Now, the food. Holy smokes! Chips and salsa unique and tasteful, the queso ( like everyone, take this to heart ) was good in its own way. For the entree , probably the best steak tacos I have had at a restaurant. The tortillas had its own flavor and the rice and beans Dagum good! Just very refreshing to go spend hard earned money out to eat and get the full package. We as a family have been more cook at home folks lately, just because it s so hard to get a great experience without taking out a mortgage for food! I know it s been one visit but we will be back and highly recommend this establishment to anyone. Perfect low key date night spot, energetic enough to sit at bar for a game, kid-friendly , and just felt like everyone was family. I ve worked good and bev for most of my life and when you have food quality, matched with a staff who seem appreciative of your business ( the food runner even smiled and waved bye) you are on to something! We had a party of 11 and waited 30 min, no problem on a Sunday. The Mgr advised that he had a table for 8 and a booth. The booth was far away from our party and I asked if we could have the table closest to our party. He said, No. I did not understand his rationale, but Manny, a super kind and understanding waiter offered us the table immediately after the table was cleared. The food is very good, however, the Manager was rude and irrational. I asked him the reason why he would not switch tables since they both seated 4. His reply, because I said so. Good Tex-Mex restaurant. They have good chips and salsa with two options of a green salsa that is on the spicier side and another that is tomato base. I ordered the shrimp enchiladas with poblano sour cream sauce and a side of rice. The poblano sauce didn t have much flavor but I improvised and added the green salsa and it was better! The rice is good. The red chilaquiles are good and plenty and their refried beans are flavorful and creamy.

My fiance and I chose this place based on reviews and we were absolutely BLOWN away! The spicy queso with ground beef was amazing! She had a full order of the nachos with half chicken fajita and half steak! Delicious is an understatement! I had Charleys Choice with double rice and a shrimp street taco. This is my new Tex mex spot. In my opinion the food options were great and had so much flavor. Both salsas were really good and I typically don t care for green salsa because it s usually bland. Service was great, it was clean. And to top it all off it wasn t expensive in this crazy economy. Highly recommend! Parking: Multiple businesses in this plaza means plenty of spaces. Kid-friendliness: Family friendly

I love this place. Their frozen margs are some of the best Ive ever had. Their food is great quality. I have not had a thing I didnt like here. I usually sit at the bar but the few times Ive had table service they were great. The food is excellent. This place and Wild Salsa have the beat Salsa Verde EVER. Both places cannot be topped. I could sip it with a straw. Highly recommend

Excellent enchiladas, Tamales. Wonderful Chips and Salsas. My favorite is the Salsa Verde with the kick of Serrano Chili and Lime! The atmosphere is very unique abound with commotion from the bar and walk-in crowds during the typical weekend dinner rush. Been a few times now, thus most recent with my mom and she too adored the meal and setting of El Vecino. Brisket Enchiladas are excellent! Worth the drive from Plano

Love this local place, our credit card shows we go every 3 weeks on the dot. Salsa is fantastic, and a real star although different than many other salsas. Every item weve ordered from the steak fajitas to the enchaladas has been truely fantastic. When family comes to town, they always request a stop at el Vecino.

Great, family restaurant. The service was superb and the food was tasty. It can be a bit loud when full as soundproofing within the restaurant wasnt great but that wouldnt keep me from coming back. Kid-friendliness: Very kid and family-friendly, though because of this expect the restaurant to be busy even at 5 p.m.

Dived into the food too quickly to take a picture. Queso was soo good. I had the El Cuenco salad with pomegranate vinaigrette, incredible! Booths had a fun look. Kid-friendliness: Kiddo liked the cheese quesadilla kids meal with rice and fries.

Wait time: Less than 5 minutes with a dining room full on a Saturday evening. Service: Fast, friendly and professional Food: True Tex-Mex. The salsa wasn t that great. The Queso was a bit thick and greasy. However, the main dishes were great. We had enchiladas and the sauce was perfect, great amount of food what the price. Average $13 a plate, which is less expensive than most other Tex-Mex restaurants. Parking: Plenty of free parking. Kid-friendliness: Very colorful and busy place. Coloring sheets for the kids to keep them entertained.

I love this place! Just to start off with, the chips and salsa are perfect chips are nice and crisp and the salsa is flavorful and just a little bit spicy. All of the food I ve had has been delicious and they are happy to accommodate any of my little quirky requests. The top shelf margarita is fabulous.

Update.. I did visit the restaurant recently, an hour and a half before closing, and I did not witness any unnecessary sweeping. We had a very enjoyable experience! Great food, great service. Thank you!! 5 star rating. First let me say, we love the place, service and food... usually. We frequent this establishment almost weekly. This has happened twice now and in my personal opinion should not be allowed. We got our table an hour before closing. As we are eating, now about 30 minutes before closing, the sweeping starts. Every table that gets up, there is a worker sweeping under and around the table, no matter how close they are to a table that has patrons eating. This is VERY unsanitary and discourteous. One worker took a work rug/mat from a work area to the dining area and was vigorously sweeping to remove whatever dirt was on it. Vigorously! This continued until closing time with several tables still eating. Sweeping to this degree should not begin until patrons are finished eating. Again, this is VERY unsanitary, discourteous and unpleasant, and should be addressed by management. I will gladly change my rating if I find this issue is addressed. Thank you!
