This place blatantly ignores freedom of speech. Apparently the management here was offended that a veteran (myself), arrived wearing an item with Trump s name on it. Although literally every interaction I had with the patrons present had nothing but positive feedback. I won t be back, I don t support communism.

Got invited here by a coworker who wasn t aware and failed to let us know it was a dress code here. I didn t even bother to think about looking up the place myself to research. Drove 20 mins away and paid $15 for parking to find out they didn t accept jogger sweatpants at the door. The only way the guy would let me in is if I paid an extra $40 for my dress code. I do take accountability for not doing my looking up of the place, but the one star is for the taxing on that $40 dress code fee and lack of compassion for me paying $15 (parking) to come and spend money to support the business by eating the food and drinking in the first place.

Hey, I just wanted to say what an incredible experience I had at backyard after the future concert this weekend despite losing my phone! Brent was at the door, and he not only gave me water when I came outside but when learning my phone got stolen and i had lost track of my friends, he got me an Uber home to plano. I am so thankful for him going above and beyond. There was so many sketchy characters and he made sure I was safe. We came back Sunday to try and pay him back but he refused to take the money so we re leaving a review! Thank you Backyard for being the best place in deep ellum!

17Aug24- Seems pretty shady here. Wish I would ve looked at the other reviews beforehand after seeing similar issues. Came for the UFC fights wearing tank tops due to the heat. The two Security guards up front claimed that we can t wear tank tops tonight specifically due to HQ being there. They then said that we can pay 20$ each as a cover charge due to wearing tank tops and they ll leave us alone. Or pay 30$ for a company shirt. We decided to pay the 20$ just so we can watch the fights. As I walked in, I witnessed BOTH of the security guards pocket the money. The Host took my ID and credit card for the table up front to bar area which seemed like there was probability for error. Indeed, was checking out with the waitress and wrong ID/credit card was brought to table so red flag. No split checks and service fee is added to check on top of being ripped off by security. Seems like a cool spot but unfortunate people like that are working at this establishment. Made me question the rest of the operations and whether I was going to be overcharged for drinks. Be weary. Will not return

This place absolutely slaps. My best buds and I spent 9 hours here. Order the fire hydrant - we got one at 0145 and it did not disappoint. Whole place watched the pop-a-shot record get broken that night. If you have a heated jacket, wear it. It s not cold inside, but any time you can make yourself battery powered, you should. HJ, I miss you. Kid-friendliness: You bring your sons in as boys, they leave as men.

I was in town for the weekend with some friends. We stopped in for a bit. Good drinks & good vibes. Shout out to the staff for being so friendly but even more so to Troyer who helped me Uber back to the hotel SAFELY after I misplaced my phone and friends. We had the most perfect timing my Uber pulled in behind my friends who also had my phone. Troyer we need more people like you. He wouldn t let me pay him for the Uber so here s my review 10/10

My co-worker and I like to come here just for a vibe. THIS TIME WAS HORRIBLE. We had a server named Daniella and words do not even explain her terrible attitude and rudeness. To make it worse, when requesting a manager SHE WAS EVEN WORSE THAN THE SERVER. No wonder the girl felt entitled treating us worse than stray dogs on the street. To make it worse because we complained we were refused service and escorted out by security. RUN DO NOT WALK BEFORE SPENDING A DIME IN HERE. Absolutely the worse experience at any bar and restaurant we had ever had. Daniella NEEDS TO BE FIRED AS WELL AS THE MANAGER. Or worse should happen to them.

My gf and I decided to have date night at Backyard so we could have some food, a few drinks, and play some games. Our visit was on 6/29. We got there just before 11 PM. Hostess was not friendly and she did not tell us that the kitchen was closed. (Had she done so, we would ve left immediately) We each had a drink. She had an espresso martini that she later found out was made with cold brew. (was there any espresso at all?) I had a bougie boy blue that was good but since it was mostly ice, neither were worth the high price point. The worst part of this experience was the DJ. Other guests were drinking and playing games so the atmosphere in that regard was cool. Whatever music the DJ was playing was not a great fit for the atmosphere. I love all music so it wasn t the genres, the songs were just wack. The young lady who served was cool. The experience for us was enough to want to go back again but others may have a better experience than us.

I have been here multiple times and I never had such a bad experience like I did on Sunday, we joined a beer pong tournament where me and some fiends started pairing up to play and as we re winning some people don t know how to lose and end up punching our friend. Then proceed to punch another friend for trying to spilt it up. We re all there trying to make they don t attack anyone else yet we were the ones that got kicked out and was told that they were going to resolve everything, but the people to attacked us were able to stay in and we re all laughing at the aggravated assault they just Committed. They never ended up getting kicked out and never once did they ask if we were okay. One was bleeding a lot from their nose and the other had a whole busted lip. The employees took care of the people who make their business look bad instead of taking care of the people who are having a good time and give them our money. Be careful if you go here because you might up end with injuries. Would definitely not recommend to anyone. Stay away!

This place is just nasty. Not clean!!!! Never Cleaned??? Dont bring a dog here unless you are okay with them eating who knows what off the floor. Finger food was okay, but super small servings. I just HATE getting ripped off. Drinks are more ice than drinks. Our server was adequate and thats being generous. Got there at 1pm on Sunday and it was pretty slow, but the DJ was blasting this Techno music starting at 2ish, which made it hard to hear anything and made the dog friendly no longer, dog friendly. The signs say no dogs in bar area ,but thats not enforced. Had to go to the bar and find server to get my check. $105.00 in food and drinks, taxes and then SERVICE FEE of 23.00 brought tab to $140.00. Then there is a tip line. I didnt notice the service fee scam until after I gave a 30.00 dollar tip. This server didnt earn 20% but Im not cheap. It wasnt until I got my wife and dog to the car that I looked at the check. DID I MENTION I HATE BEING RIPPED OFF? My total bill was 170.00 UNBELIEVABLE. Add the city getting 11.00 for parking and you now know what getting screwed feels like. I called management on Monday but didnt hear back from anyone. Show the Backyard the backdoor. Boycott this greedy entertainment establishment until it is no longer a common thief.

Off-duty employees assaulted our friends!!! It was a Big African American guy, (off duty security) who started everything! He punched my friend after a cup pong game! He also proceeded to push my bf knowing he just had surgery on his leg!!! The bouncers (their friends) of course kicked US OUT knowing we did not start anything & just said it shouldn t have happened . Another guy (an off duty bartender) cussed me out when I was not even speaking to him!! Great code of conduct you teach your employees (off or on duty). DO NOT RECOMMEND GOING TO BACKYARD. Went for the Reddit meetup. Reddit paid for a buffet of sliders, hot chicken sliders, chicken dippers of 3 different flavours, fries, and onion rings with fried pickles & an open bar for us. It was a blast meeting them & exchanging information. I was having enjoyable time until the DJ started doing his thing. Little did I know that the music there was loud enough that my watch told me that extended time of music at that volume will cause hearing damage & they allow vaping indoors. About 5-10 people vaping in front of the bar & in front of other employees & nothing was said to them about vaping. I get you have an air filtration system but there was no signage out front nor around the business saying anything about Backyards stance on vaping. Your web site talks about having outdoor seating/area but the doors to those areas were closed. Lastly, its sad to see Backyard doesnt support the Dallas Stars. During the intermissions of the Mavs game, there was an opportunity to broadcast the audio of the Stars game instead the DJ played music louder than a jet engine. Also, in case you couldnt tell/read the crowd, that music wasnt hyping the crowd for the giveaways that most didnt care about until it was the Luka merch. Honestly, the audio of the Mavs game really didnt need to be that loud. I shouldnt have to YELL at the person sitting less than 3 feet of me nor YELL to get a drink. But hey.. its your business, not mine.

This place is so cool but the bouncers assaulted me and several others on my birthday. Apparently, a girl being in the men s bathroom constitutes a big enough emergency to knock down all of the girls in the line waiting to go to the bathroom. When I told the other bouncer and who I assume to be the manager what happened, they both said, that didn t happen. The girl I was with and 2 others I didn t know spoke up and told them it did in fact happen. At that point, they told me I had to leave instead of apologizing or acknowledging it could have happened like myself and several others said.

Apparently if you buy a section they let you cut lines to the bathroom. My friend was about to pee herself and since this one girl was in a section she got to cut the whole line. I personally feel like using the bathroom is a basic human right and just because you/someone you know paid for a section doesn t mean you get special treatment.

Wow where do I even begin with this hot mess express. So right out of the gate this place seems completely disorganized. At first we re told we can t split checks, which seems odd for a place that basically caters to college kids but sure that s fine. Then we re told we have to leave a credit card just to get a table, again strange but ok. So we get our table and the first thing I m asked for is my card to start a tab. Umm ok? Well I don t have it cause I was told we wouldn t get this table without handing it over. So we order our drinks, and not even 5 min into being there we re told we have to move tables cause they ve apparently sat us at one that was specifically reserved. How did y all not know this 5 min ago when you put us at this table? Can they not sit at one of the other empty tables (of which there are many available) around us? Ok well this point we ve decided we re just gonna stay for one round and move on. So we get our drinks and then to save some time ask for and pay our tabs. Kind of surprised by the facility fee and automatic 25% gratuity for a group of 4 when the facility is mediocre at best and the service sucks but again, ok whatever. AND THEN after all that, not even 15 min later, someone from the restaurant comes over and has the audacity to tell us we have to MOVE TO THE BAR TO FINISH OUR DRINKS. Are you for real right now?? Never in my 33 almost 34 years of life have I ever had to move to the bar to finish food/drinks immediately after closing a tab. I said that I ve never had to do this before and because I had an opinion I was told by said employee he didn t appreciate my hostility. Sir that s not hostility, that s just facts. Turns out their people messed up with the table assignments, but instead of troubleshooting that first they went straight to blaming the customer. Oh and no one ever showed up for that other reservation, they just didn t want us sitting there. Altogether, this place is a joke and now it makes total sense why the place is half empty on a Saturday during an NFL playoff game. Please do do yourself a favor and avoid this train wreck.

I went there last night to enjoy the weekend and the short Mexican dude yall have as the door person told me Im srry I cant take this ID but you have a happy new year in the most smart tone. I told him wdym my ID isnt real and he told me his man next to him would handle it and told him it was fake af. When I handed it to the black guy next to him he held my ID for about 30 seconds seemingly looking like he knew it wasnt fake and I told them to go grab a blue light then and prove to me that it was fake and the Mexican dude went back inside and then returned without a blue light and claimed he already told the guy inside about it and the black guy asked where the blue light was and at that point I just left. Yall should make sure yalls door people have the proper equipment to prove IDs are fake because I wasted my time driving all the way out there.

Went here for a corporate party. The activities are really fun Jenga, ping ping, cornhole etc. the food was buffet but good. All in all a fun experience with exactly the atmosphere you d expect like a backyard party.

Cool spot but the single worst service Ive had. Waitress forgot our order, only came twice in over an hour, brought one pair of silverware for two people after we had to ask for it in general. Then she capped it off by adding 21.5% to the tab despite everything clearly stating that only parties of 6 get gratuity added. Edit: manager took care of gratuity and a little extra for the experience which was nice

On Sundays its a screaming loud Cowboys bar with all the charm of a sloshed frat party. And not because patrons are rowdy, but because staff keep the music at deafening decibels, they easily outnumber patrons, and theyre all busy taking selfies.

Nice place, but worst service ever! Everyone was watching the game, so they didnt care about customers. When someone finally took our order, we had already finished and asked for the bill. They included a big tip as part of the total, and you are not able to change this. This was a bad experience for the first time.

Terrible bar tenders, just because your bar is not busy doesn t mean you should be rude and inattentive. My glass of wine on the menu was priced at $8 when I was charged $11 I was rudely told oh yes the menus are outdated. I was going to stay for dinner but decided to go elsewhere after my initial experience.

Okay so overall this place is a 5 out of 10 The staff were really great I believe my waitress was named Celeste if I m not wrong she was so wonderful and came to check on our table multiple times which was great and was really fast pace with everything the environment was nice they had fun little activities to do, easy parking, and great music .the downside the food was just not good my husband had the boneless wings which looked like frozen meatballs and my friends pretzel was hard as a rock :/ (BUTTTT there ceasers salad was actually really good, but the croutons were so stale but luckily I really like stale croutons so it was a win for me) the purple Gatorade shot was alright nothing exciting about it but I really recommend the Mexican candy shot!!! And if I m being completely the bar really smelled like kinda like a sewer/ vomit with a mixture of cleaning chemicals so it was such a turn off i would also like to add this is the first time Ive ever spent $130+ at a bar so it s pretty pricey .. I really wish my experience was a little bit better but hopefully in the near future when we come back it will be different

Place opens at 5pm. Wednesday the best day to go cuz the games are free all day 5pm- The menu isnt correct A few things have changed on the menu special. The company hasnt changed the menu or let the customers know some items are no longer half off. We went from usually spending $50 to $100.

Came here to watch a Stars game. There weren t that many people but service was unexpectedly slow. Ordered the chicken cheesesteak and it was nothing special. Beer selection is typical of most bars in the area. The pluses are that it s dog friendly and they have giant screens to watch the games. Not too crowded so we were able to get a booth easily. You ll have to park on the street or pay in a lot though which can be a hassle.
