Waitress clearly did not want to serve us. We didnt have a charge on phones, and she told us we couldnt have a paper menu because the only other table in the restaurant had all of them, and she couldnt tell us what the menu items included. We had to flag her down for every single refill, and wait 10+ min. for it to come. There were 4 tables that came in after us that were all served before us. Each person at our table received their meal one at a time, 5-20min apart. Among our order was a single order of fajitas and two plates. We got two orders, no plates and no tortillas until 20 minutes later, which were an extra charge. When we pointed out the issue, the waitress argued with us and told us this was exactly what we ordered. She eventually came back and agreed to take one order away (and removed the charge), but the fajitas got cold while we waited for any tortillas in the interim. Chips and salsa were good.

Upon arrival we were allowed to choose a table ourselves, we went inside, it was a bit too windy for the outside terrace. The interior is decorated in a Mexican style with music to create the right atmosphere. Chairs are a bit outdated but were still ok provided you dont move too much. Food is neatly prepared and tasty

First time dining here. Tried it after walking at the Art Walk. Walked in about 9:30, not crowded at all. Server took awhile to get to us for our drink orders. One that was taken, she waited awhile after bringing drinks to take our order. Order took a long time to come out and the two orders were brought out separately with more than 5-10 minutes in between. The food was delicious. Our server surely did make it up to us by comping our drinks. Will definitely give this place another try.

Well, to start, my server was nice, but his fingernails were dirty. I almost wanted to leave because of that, but we were from out of town, so I was hungry. The salsa looked like marinara sauce and tasted bland. My husbands tacos were overstuffed and had no flavor. My sour cream sauce was so chunky and unappealing to the eye. The only thing that didnt look horrendous was my daughters fries. Its not worth 70$, in my opinion.

NOT dog friendly! Considering there were only two tables INSIDE with people, youd think that when I came with my dog to sit OUTSIDE that theyd want the business, yet despite the lack of people and reviews that say dogs are allowed, we were told that only service animals were allowed. We went to Pier 99 instead and had fantastic service per usual!

The staff were friendly but it did take a while to get our order and serve our food, we had filled up on chips. The food was mid, the taco shells were burnt and the beans had a burnt taste. Wouldnt be surprised to see Gordon Ramsay pay a visit for an episode of kitchen nightmares.

First off we had to go to an atm to pull out cash caused their systems were down. We asked about certain things on the menu and the lady made rude comments saying we can t get it our way when we were just asking. We waited an hour for our food Half the table got there food and then 20 min the other half got theirs, we were already full off chips. Really don t recommend especially after a long drive. We wanted to relax eat and have a good drink but the environment was dead no music very silent. We decided not to drink and just wanted to leave asap. It also took atleast 15min plus just to get our ticket. Our waitress seemed to be the only working nobody else didn t seem to help. Definitely won t be back.

I wish I had taken pictures, but it is what it is. Im NEVER going back, so no pics in the future. My daughter and I were attending the nearby Art Walk and decided to try this restaurant. (Spoiler) I knew something was amiss when I looked into the dining room and noticed it was less than half full with customers. Even the outdoor patio wasnt busy. There are over a thousand people in attendance at the Art Walk, and this place is basically empty. (Huge red flag) Against my better judgement I decided to take a chance. We were seated and the hostess was nice. The menu is a QR code (annoying, but not uncommon). The server (a guy in regular clothes and a hat on backwards) took our drink order. He returned and took my order. (Kiddo wasnt hungry, just thirsty.) I ordered the enchiladas Verdes. A group of guys came in and took up two tables near the rear of the dining room. Our server was hanging with those guys and it seemed as though he knew them personally. After waiting about 10 minutes for my food (a reasonable time), the server brought my plate. This is where everything went sideways. He walked up to our table, put the plate on the table and slid it with such force that the food almost came off of the plate. He didnt even stop walking as he did this. He said, Heres your enchiladas, and he walked over to his buddies again. I almost couldnt believe it. He brought my food in the same manner that youd feed a stray dog. The food looked okay, so I cut into an enchilada and the chicken was undercooked. My daughter (who has years of restaurant experience) agreed that the chicken was not properly cooked. I tasted the Verde sauce and it was spoiled (horribly bitter). She also agreed. We looked around for a staff member, but nobody was on the floor, so we left. I will NEVER go back. I havent been this disgusted in years. Now I understand why their Google rating is so low.

May 10,2024 9:30 P.M. went to la playa at night coming back from the carnival. The service was terrible they took forever to bring our drinks and food thats because there was hardly anyone there. The food was disgusting I bring leftovers for my dog but in this case I wouldnt even feed it to my dog.The tortillas look plastic look at the picture you can see what I mean, beans tasted like bean dip, enchiladas tasted soapy, ketchup was watery it looked like it was expired. I wouldnt recommend anyone eating there. The waitress looked like she didnt want to be there she was on her phone the entire time not even checking up on us if we needed anything else. I had to keep calling her to get our attention.I told the waitress I didnt want to pay for my meal since I didnt like the taste of the food. The waitress said she was going to get the manager. The manager didnt even come to our table to see what was the problem with our food. The only good thing about it the manager told the waitress to take it off my receipt and I didnt have to pay.I will never be going to la playa restaurant ever again.Next time Im going to Kinkos restaurant better food and better service.

La Playa restaurant, situated along the beachfront in Corpus Christi, is just a short distance from downtown and the beach. This vibrant and spacious restaurant exudes a cozy and festive atmosphere. I particularly enjoyed the booths near the large windows, offering a picturesque view of the bustling cantina bar outside. The menu features authentic Mexican cuisine, and our choice of the chili relleno stuffed with hamburger meat, topped with cheese, was exceptionally tasty. The rice and beans were cooked to perfection, bursting with delicious flavors. My husband savored the chicken, shrimp, and beef fajita tacos, accompanied by rice and beans. The freshly made, generously sized tortillas were a highlight, perfectly complementing the flavorful fillings. Without a doubt, we look forward to returning to dine at La Playa again.

Somebody was hammering away on something the whole time we were there. Loudly. The food we ordered tasted great but both entrees arrived barely warm. My wife had the El Yucateo plate, breaded fried eggplant stuffed with shrimp and sauteed pico de gallo and chile con queso. Wifey had borracho beans and rice with her meal. I had the Carne Guisada, tender hunks of beef stewed in a Mexican gravy. I had rice and refried beans and flour tortillas with mine. First time weve eaten in what sounded like a blacksmith shop. Skip this place.

Just go to El Camino instead. Food: They were out of several things including basics like sour cream. I ordered a fajita salad and might as well have saved myself the extra few bucks and got a taco salad because there were no fajitas. Literally just lettuce, tomato, cheese and avocado. They also got my order wrong and gave me steak instead of chicken. Then I found a bug crawling underneath my salad. My drink was equally awful. The margarita was fine though. Chips and salsa were good. Service: Terrible! We were the only table outside with very few tables inside, and we waited 45-50+ minutes for a salad and one other plate. Then when our food came, the waiter couldn t bother to come back to check on us nor bring us our check but seemed to take plenty of smoke breaks. When we went inside to ask for it, the waiter was sitting at the bar. Atmosphere: weird. The place was totally dead with a DJ playing outside. Up the street there was a band playing and full courtyard of people. By the time our waiter finally cashed us out the band was over so we couldn t even make the most of the night.

They all talked about the customers and the other employees that were not at work. There was water leaking from above spilling on the floor. We got two beers and fajitas for two and it cost $75. We got our fajitas the meat was burned to the skillet like all of it. Our tortillas were burnt to a crisp. The fajita plate had ribs on it as well. It was ice cold to the touch in assuming they were frozen. We left there with a bad taste of burnt food in our mouth and was embarrassed that they staff talked and cussed in front of the customers very unprofessional and to whoever is getting rides from your coworkers they are talking about how you dont pay gas

Visiting Corpus Christi for the beginning of spring break and decide to stop here and honestly was the worst decision ever. We walk in and their is a sign to please be seated and waiting and no one comes up until 10 mins after just standing there. We are eight but divided by two separate families in two different booths. Tables were not clean their were several tables dirty and left with plates and drinks from previous customers. It took a waiter several mins to come and not only that wait a while for our food. The rice was under cooked and the food looked like it was just slapped onto our plates. Our children tacos were burnt and sadly the enchilada plate that was ordered didnt look all great and didnt come with pico as it was stated . And towards the end the waiter decided to put his own tip for himself and my friends. She was a $10.00 tip and mine was $5.41. I honestly dont think a tip was needed especially for the sucky service and long wait time. We customers should be able to give our tips not the workers choice. Shame on yall. Especially the female waitress who only waited tables they wanted. I wouldnt recommend this restaurant.

Weve been here 4 times in the last 2 months. My husband and I go out for food and drinks twice a month if not more. After our last two visits, we wont be going back. We like the atmosphere and our servers have always been great. Its the food and mixed drinks that have been the issue. On our first two visits the food was acceptable and drinks were great. Food issues were minor, nothing that couldnt be over looked. The last two times nothing was good. Food orders came out wrong, nothing had a good flavor, my husband left 98% of his food on his plate. A drink we have ordered numerous times here came out completely different with ingredients that arent even supposed to be in the drink. The bartender working that day said we were wrong.. I understand mistakes but for the money they charge for food and drinks, the food should be edible, rice shouldnt be cold, menu items shouldnt be missing and if a mixed drink doesnt list an ingredient on the menu..... dont add it... we thought we had found OUR place but instead were looking elsewhere.

I will never come back. Food was not good and the prices were crazy. I had two tall beers at $10.75 each. They were draft beers. I m not at a ballpark or event. Why so much for a draft beer? The place was run down and our table shook more than a table during an earthquake. No wonder the place was empty. Don t waste your money going here.

The Restaurant Debacle: A Catastrophic Culinary Experience They say that everyone has their own share of horrible restaurant experiences, and unfortunately, I recently had the displeasure of joining that unfortunate club. Settle down, folks, because today were diving into a tale of epic proportions the story of a restaurant that managed to be mind-numbingly awful from start to finish. Buckle up, because this is going to be one wild ride. The Dreadful Wait: Picture this: you walk into a seemingly deserted restaurant, expecting a quick and delightful dining experience. Oh, how wrong you are! Not only does it take us a solid 15 minutes to catch the attention of a wayward server, but even then, it seems like we are invisible. Clearly, this restaurant is practicing their own version of The Invisible Man, except this adaptation was anything but entertaining. The Torturous Delays: Once our pleas for attention are finally acknowledged, we foolishly believe our misfortunes have come to an end. Oh, how naive we were! After a grueling wait, our drinks finally grace our table after 25 mind-boggling minutes. Mind you, its not like the bartender was off creating the most exotic concoctions known to mankind; were talking about water, soda, and simple lemonade drinks that require little more than a few seconds to pour. Sigh. The Hot Sauce and the Endless Quest for Chips: Surely, the arrival of our drinks marks the beginning of a turn for the better, right? Wrong again! Our trusty server, or should I say, the Houdini of Waitstaff, disappears into the abyss, leaving us parched, hungry, and desperate for chips and hot sauce. An additional 10 minutes pass before this basic staple of restaurant dining finally makes its grand entrance. Youd think someone had built the chips from scratch and grew the peppers themselves, the way these items were withheld from us. The Wrong Order and Icy Cuisine: Finally, the moment of truth arrives: our long-awaited food appears. However, what is placed before us is a monstrous display of culinary chaos. What we ordered bears no resemblance to what now occupies our plates. And in an ironic twist of fate, our meals are barely lukewarm as if the restaurant is trying to recreate the Ice Age through their cooking techniques. How utterly delightful! The Great Check Chase: Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the end is near. By this point, weve entered a state of delirium, fueled by hunger, frustration, and the overwhelming desire to finally escape this nightmare. Just when we thought we were free, our server takes another 15 minutes to deliver the check. Perhaps theyve mastered the art of elongating time and prolonging misery? Conclusion: In the end, our restaurant experience can be summed up quite simply: a comedy of errors. From the agonizing wait to the wrong order and chilly cuisine, every aspect of this dining adventure was an exercise in patience and a true test of our sanity. Its hard to fathom how such a poorly run establishment manages to stay afloat. But hey, at least we walked away with a story to tell a reminder to always check restaurant reviews before making a reservation. Bon appétit, and good luck out there, fellow diners

Never ate here. Probably never will. Their DJ was having a great time, enough for the entire downtown to hear it. He started about 5 or 6 pm and it s 9:30pm- still going strong. Too bad they are disturbing the folks sleeping across the street who have meetings to attend in the morning. The front desk at the Best Western won t call the restaurant to ask them to turn it down and the number here on Google doesn t work. Yep. I doubt a place with that lack of concern for folks has any kind of concern for their customer other than money.

Food was good, but the beans were not flavored well, plus it was mostly broth with very little beans. They were out of rice and offered no discount on our meals. Very disappointed, as they could have offered a discount or even for us to pick up rice at a later time. Drinks took forever to come out,but the server was very nice and did the best she could. Kitchen and bar need some work!!!! Wont be going back. Not living up to the La Playa name by any means. Hope they are not affiliated with the one on Saratoga or SPID!!!!

Ive eaten here about 2 years ago, and the food and service were great, but now Im sad to say that it was a very bad experience. The chips and salsa to start were flavorless and old, and then our food, which was sausage, ribs, fajita, chicken, and shrimp, was very old and re-heated, the rice was also reheated and shriveled, and the beans were from a can. The tortillas were tough, and the ground beef didnt have a single flavor to it. The only thing I enjoyed was the margarita. I really do hope they make the proper adjustments since they are on the Bayfront and receive many tourist.

October 14, after the solar eclipse, my whole family went to eat. The food was bad, bad, bad: overcooked/beaten rice, rotting vegetables, black guacamole, the breaded fish burned on the outside and completely raw on the outside, the beef tacos the meat was parboiled and completely raw, according to them they served iced teas but it was stinky water. We didnt touch anything and they wanted to charge us for consumption. We got up and left.

The building itself was charming and the karaoke/live music was nice to listen to, but aside from that the entire experience was terrible. Our waiter was rude, the wait for the food had to have taken nearly an hour even though when we arrived we were one of the only few people there, our queso was cold and extremely thick, the sweet tea had a very funky taste to it, our seafood enchiladas also tasted off and were served on a flour tortilla that got soggy very quick. I usually don t write reviews like this but I am on vacation and their food has given me the worst case of food poisoning I ve had in a long time. After now reading other reviews saying all of their plates and cups are dirty, I m not surprised. Do not eat here, it s not worth it!

We never got to eat because the food never was brought out to use in the time permited for lunch. We waited for about 1 hour and 15 minutes and had to return to work. The waiter took our order after about 15 minutes of delay. About 20 minutes later he came back and said there was no Carne guisada, so I had to reorder something else. Ten minutes before our allowed time for lunch he came back to say meal was still not ready. The manager was very disrespectful and wouldnt listen to our complaint. He went to the back and said our order was canceled. We canceled it because we had to return to work. ME and my coworker will never return to this establishment. Manager needs to go. The restaurant was not even busy which makes it more disappointing.

Although when our waitress would come by she was sweet and helpful. The red salsa was my favorite it was hot n Spicey perfectly. We ordered the chicken fajita taco plate it was good but still chip n salsa were great. If you like live music n cold drinks this would be a good lil starter spot. We went for a day drive from Houston and ended up here, but over all we enjoyed it for a quick bite to eat and good music
