This place is a lot of fun and we stop here often. My only concern is the auto 20% gratuity that I was charged on my tab. I don t recall that being the case prior. I normally tip 25-30%, but just do not recall the forced gratuity prior. Always have fun here!

Have been avoiding this place for wbo knows how long now because it had gotten run down and awful, but theres NEW OWNERSHIP and it had such a welcoming atmosphere. Perfect place to take my fiance for his birthday. The wings were INCREDIBLE! We will be coming back frequently and bringing friends! Definitely check the website for events because we showed up and it was a costume party, if wed paid more attention we wouldve been dressed for it. They let us in anyway good good good

First time here and was very disappointed; who in the heck charges $50 for a karaoke song. Friends and I were under the impression karaoke was free; after waiting an hour 1/2 after turning in our song request slip. Last time my friends and I come here. If you re going to be a karaoke place; then act like one.

I have been going to Spotlight since they had the mechanical bull. I have always loved Spotlight, but it is so much more enjoyable now that smoking isnt allowed inside. It really makes a world of a difference. The owner is so awesome and is quite the singer as well! Will definitely be frequenting this bar more! Also, the karaoke contests are so much fun, the energy between everyone is amazing!

Spotlight karaoke was very fun. Most people that were there were there to have fun and enjoy themselves. There were a couple incidents while were there but overall the atmosphere the food and the service was good. There was one bartender whose drinks were very bad compared to the other bartenders that were there. Overall though I would definitely go back.

**Update: The new owner (Warren) has done a great job of revamping this bar. New decor, equipment and they are prioritizing karaoke over dance music. It s a huge improvement from my initial experience earlier this year. Original post: Spotlight is a good place for a drunken karaoke dance party with a group or work party. Lots of people love it and have a great time. I just expected more since karaoke bar is in their name. If you get there early enough you may get to sing a couple songs. After 8pm they prioritize the party music vibe only and do not keep people in order and may not call you up to sing for hours or ever if your look or your song choice doesn t fit the vibe. Just to emphasize- I arrived at 9pm and put in 3 fun up beat dance songs to sing, I always try to choose fun songs for the crowd. I sang for the first time at 10:30pm and found out at that time you could not put in multiple songs at the same time?! The KJ booth is large, completely enclosed by plastic walls and they discourage interaction at all. Also there is no monitor speaker so you re just hearing your muffled echo of the back wall when you sing.

I know this is a Veteran owned but my first visit was disappointing. J was there for 2+ hours and sang 1 song and there was only 1 other singer. If its a kareoke bar, and there are singers with songs turned in, they should be catered to.

They take too long between songs to for the the next singer. Weve been here for 1 5 hrs and my firneds song still ahsnt been called. Top spin has singers going one after the next. There should be a queue on screen so people know when they are coming up and can be in the wing.

Was completely dead earlier in the evening, but as it got later, the crowd began to form. An older crowd this evening, which was great because it was all 80s-90s songs! Gen X all the way. 2 younger girls took the stage and did an unfamiliar song, but everyone was having fun! LGBTQ friendly.

This is my first time in Austin Texas and this place was a bitter sweet. Pros: So the people that come to this place are amazing and engaging. They danced and enjoyed every singer good or bad. I loved the sound of the music and karaoke and esp the set up of the stage and again the sound. Cons: I didnt like the Karaoke Dj Attitude towards the crowd. He was cursing at the people that couldnt hear their name being called. Made a couple statements that were unnecessary about people getting on stage fast. Also I wanted to sing a song at the end but wanted to change just one word to dedicate it to my son and he literally was like no and cut the music off and was like good night. We spoke back and forth as I was on stage and he literally told me if I didnt sing the song the way he wanted he would cut it off. I sang the song because my family was there and they wanted me to sing. However I was very disappointed with the DJ because its not about his its about the customer. Im upset that I had to go through that experience. I am a professional entertainer and I also deal with hiring djs and other entertainment for events with my husband and his behaviors was unacceptable. Overall: I enjoyed the atmosphere and the singing but could have gone without the rudeness. This Review is not to make him look bad but to shed light on the situation because maybe no one ever said anything but also I dont know Texas hospitality neither so this could be the norm. Where I am from and other places I travel too I never experienced this. Om not here to make the place look bad but to let people know what you could expect.

I went there tonight, 05/24/2023 around 10:10 to order some food. It did not look busy. A couple of folks at the bar. But the only waitstaff in there did not even acknowledge me even after I pulled a bar stool out to sit down on. She was yakking away to two customers also sitting at the bar. The guy she was talking to turned to look at me as I made noise pulling the bar stool out. She didnt stop her conversation at all. She was showing them a vape tank she had and even let them take a hit from it. After sitting there for 10 minutes being totally ignored, I left. Thanks for being so attentive to a customer. This is just a hole in the wall karaoke bar where the music is so loud you cant have a decent conversation and you have to shout at the waitstaff to even hear you. Ive been there before but after being ignored, dont think Ill be going back.Not my kind of place anyway. Who wants to be in a place where you cant hear yourself think and the waitstaff cant stop talking to someone to take your order. No one likes being ignored at a place of business when its your job to take care of your customers.

Payed cash, ordered beer and food. I was passed off between two bartenders. Treated as if I was bothering them. They are very racist at this bar. If you are not of their kind they ignore you and keep your cash money. After ordering and paying no one ever return. When asked for my order- 40 minutes later, the female bartender was very rude and confrontational. I asked for my money back so I could leave. They continued helping others but continued to ignore me. When my order was brought out it was thrown at me and I was escorted out. Very scary experience. I am local and will not recommend or support this place. I have never experienced this. Owners and customers be aware. I will not go back.

Such a cool place, Theres reviews about feeling unwelcome here on google. I disagree. #1 its a bar. #2 they are UNDERSTAFFED. #3 everyone else is just there to have a good time, not to have you sit on their lap the entire evening. The DJ was super chill and played some good vibe music. Many of the singers were amazing as well! The Chicken Bacon Ranch tacos were great and they are generous with the dollar amount of alcohol poured into the drinks. My wife and I will definitely be back!

The DJ tends to favor people a lot and skip over others. We waited for 4 hours to sing and people who came in 30 minutes before they got up were going over and over again. Went Friday. Always get good bar service. Crowd was definitely mostly country people. Asked the DJ to play country and he informed us the owners only allow hip hop! Is this true? I definitely think you should cater to the crowd in front of you spending money. Closed our 140$ tab and went next door to shooters.
