Went here for date night with my husband. Wow, to say we were overwhelmed with hospitality is an understatement. We were greeted by one of the patrons with a hug and words of welcome, the owner waited for us to change so we could experience the aroma therapy sauna with the regulars. They introduced us to everyone there. It was an instant connection and it took all of 30 seconds for strangers to become new friends that felt like we ve known forever. Here is the point of this review just go. Support a small business, get the banya experience, and let go of inhibitions. This is a judgement free zone where you can enjoy some heat, cold plunge, make new friends, eat delicious food. Just go! Tell your friends, and have fun!

This place may need a little explaining, so Ill do my best to give an American perspective of the banya. The Russian Banya is a combination of restaurant and traditional Russian Banya. The banya consists of a family-style environment that has all the food from the restaurant side, traditional Russian/Eastern European drinks, and centralizes around a wood burning wet sauna. For convenience Ill say Russian, but all Eastern European countries have some form of this practice and the wonderful people that work here are from all over Eastern and Central Europe. It is typical for Russians to have a banya near a lake, and to jump into the lake after spending time in the sauna. The Russian Banya is the closest approximation to this in Texas. The banya is revered in Eastern Europe for its ability to help recover from aches and pains, and to relax and recharge. This Russian Banya is truly a unique place, and it all starts with the owner Misha. He ensures you are well taken care of your entire stay. The food is great and comes from Russia, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan. I began coming here due to the 45 degree cold plunge, and the wet sauna that is always over 180 degrees. The cold plunge is colder and the sauna is hotter than any wellness center I know of in DFW. I have tried cryotherapy, and I found the cold plunge to be way more effective. The available research out there seems to back this up as well. They have additional services including therapeutic massage, platza, and body scrubs. The steam room is excellent for improving you lung and skin health.

I ve been going to the Russian Banya for over 10 years through several different management changes and it is still my favorite place in the metroplex! The food and service is to die for. The aroma therapy sessions they perform several times a day are such an amazing experience. Guaranteed you ll leave refreshed and excited for your next trip there. We recently held a bachelorette party there for my mom and it was the best decision we could have made. A fun crowd and relaxing spa experience before the big day. Thank you to Misha for making it an incredible experience! We ll definitely be back soon!

i always have a lovely experience at the banya. the people here are very kind and welcoming. the banya is so hot, and the aromatherapy sessions are always fun, thanks to the owner misha. the heat is incredibly relaxing, and the cold plunge afterwards is just as refreshing. try a massage too, you will feel great. *** 16/06/24: although there is nudity, i have never had a strange experience with anyone here. at the banya, i always feel safe, welcome, and taken care of. i think this is important to note, as i am a teenage girl who regularly comes into the actual banya alone. so dont worry, you will be safe) do keep in mind that this place seems very different from the usual public spas, such as spa king. its quite humble, minimally decorated but clean. this isnt a bad thing at all, its perfect if you want an enjoyable, no-frills experience. the food is amazing, good portions and prices, and tastes delicious. definitely worth a try after your banya visit :-) i strongly recommend the borscht, shuba, and medovik. they do provide you with a robe, towel, and flip-flops, but you can also bring them yourself. bring an ID banya hats can be bought to make the heat easier to deal with. recommended but not necessary (i rarely wear these and i feel perfectly fine) be prepared as clothing is optional in the saunas. people also cover up with a swimsuit/towel as well. no bathing suits in the cold plunge, but there is a curtain for privacy. admission is for a week e.g. if you buy admission on a sunday, it includes any visits up to the next saturday

The Russian Banya of Dallas deserves its high ratings. The saunas were clean and very hot. (Get the hat or bring one.) They have plenty of showers, a cold plunge, and a cold bucket shower to cool yourself between times in the sauna. Make sure to join an aromatherapy session (the sign said they are at 4, 6, and 8pm). If you don t tolerate heat well, don t sit at the top by the hot stones. That s where it is hottest. I got dizzy and had to step out early. I wasn t the only one. Everyone was very understanding and kind about it and several of the staff checked on me. Although they say clothing optional, almost everyone went without. Most people covered themselves with their towels except when in the saunas. I m a curvy girl, not entirely comfortable with my own nudity, but I never felt like people were being inappropriate. There were people of all shapes and sizes and ages and genders and no one seemed to think twice about it. The restaurant didn t disappoint either. We loved the beef stroganoff and the julienne and look forward to trying their other dishes. They served us in the Banya lounge so we didn t have to change out of our towels and robes (those and locks for our lockers were provided with our entrance fee) and make ourselves presentable for the restaurant. The Banya has a beautiful and warm ethnic community, and even though we were not of their background, we were welcomed and made to feel like we belonged by the staff (shoutout to Jackson and Mila though everyone was great to us) as well as by the other guests. We were there for only about 2 1/2 hours but felt like we could have enjoyed ourselves for 4 or 5 hours easily and would have gone back the next day if our schedule had allowed. We don t go to Dallas often, but we will make future trips that are centered around the Banya.

I wish there had been a more detailed review for me, so Im hoping I can flesh out the details for someone else. First let me say that I had a good visit and it was a new experience I couldnt have gotten anywhere else. I am not sorry I went. The facility was clean, the staff was helpful and explained everything, and I didnt have to look at too many naked people. I probably would not bring a teenage boy or girl. Little ones might be okay. Just be prepared that there are a lot of towel wrapped people that sometimes walk around without the towels. Its part of the culture. Just be expecting it. Overall it was an enjoyable experience and I would probably go again. The food was really amazing. Even if you dont go for the bath house, go for the food . Now for the opportunities for improvement. Im not a huge person but I do wear a 2x or 3x shirt. The robes really only fit a 1x person, even the mens robes. So bring your own robe. Also bring flip flops. There are 3 rooms. The day I went only one was open. And it was the hottest one that I personally could not stay in for more than 10 min. I went in twice and that was it. So I really felt like it wasnt a good expense of 70 dollars per person for 20 min in the room. The cold plunge is only available if you are willing to go naked. I think they should allow bathing suits. This disappointed me. The overall atmosphere is nice and friendly but its hot. The day I went the seating area where you end up spending most of your time was about 80 degrees. There is no way to really cool off unless you go into the cold plunge or take a cold shower. The showers are all coed by the way. They do have curtains so there is some privacy, but you will see some naked people coming in and out. I only saw naked men. There were only 4 women there and all of them were in bathing suits. I would go again when all the rooms are available. It is a unique experience.

Its been ten years since I had food like this, and everything was authentic and delicious! My wife loved the goluptsi, pelmeni, and borsch. The bread that came with the borsch was thick, just like it should be. I would 100% recommend ordering the pelmeni in broth as opposed to plain, especially if your party has more American palates. I cannot recommend the borsch enough; it felt so familiar. If youre not familiar with things, just say yes if they ask if you want sour cream with your dish. Its part of the cuisine. Most of the time, youre meant to dip stuff in the sour cream, but if you get borsch, then you should put the sour cream in the soup (probably use about half of what they give you to start.) If you have very large appetites, then I would recommend ordering 1.5 entrees per person, as the portions here are large but not huge. This isnt one of those places that expects every person to take half their plate home in a doggy bag. Kompot is good even to order a pitcher. For Kvas, I would order one glass to try before even ordering two glasses, let alone a pitcher, since it has a very strong flavor that only some people like at first.

Huge oven. They burn with real wood. The flavors are fantastic. Signature tea from the owner of the establishment. Birch brooms, aromatherapy, massage and much more. Incredibly delicious, homemade food. Cooked by a cook who escaped from Mariupol. But the most important thing is the local community. They gather, communicate, get to know each other. More Americans. There are slightly fewer of those who have been in America for many years and even the accent has disappeared. The atmosphere is very warm, friendly, open and free. Ive seen similar gatherings in films. But for the first time in life... A very interesting experience. I rested my body and soul.

The staff is friendly and the food is great. Jackson really helped us out a lot. My favorite food is the blinchiki with beef. Its like a crepe with beef inside. Dip it in sour cream and its delish. SAUNA ROOMS: There are three sauna rooms, but one is broken. The dry Finnish room at 199° and up to 10% humidity hasnt been working in awhile. The wet room is super steamy. I dont see it on their website, but it is very humid. So steamy you cant really see when youre sitting. The hot room is heated up to 195° with 50% humidity and has multiple tiers of seating. The higher up you sit the hotter it is in the room. The lower you sit the cooler it is. We got to experience a free group aromatherapy session at 3pm in the hot room. Jackson stood in the middle of the hot room and fanned three rounds of essential oils on all of us. It was HOT, but smelled good. We only made it through 2.5 rounds. FAQ: 1. Wearing a banya hat will allow you to sit in the hot rooms for longer. They have some for purchase (I think its $15). 2. They provide robes, towels, a locker, and flip flops if you forgot them 3. You must rinse off in the shower before using the sauna rooms 4. Wear a swimsuit or go nude in the sauna rooms. Clothing is optional in the sauna rooms and they are co-ed. I am female and wore a swimsuit. You cannot be nude in the lounge area. Most everyone wore a robe in the lounge area. 5. Robes are not allowed in the sauna rooms. There are hooks outside the sauna rooms to hang them. 6. You must sit on a towel in the sauna rooms. You can wrap the towel around your body or waist while you sit or lay the towel down. 7. You must rinse before you do the cold plunge. The cold plunge is nude only. 8. Yes, you can talk in the sauna rooms. 9. The food is fantastic. Ring the bell to get service. It can take 25 min to get your food 10. There are four lounge chairs in the lounge area if you want to chill. You can also play chess 11. Everyone is pretty friendly and it seems a lot of the patrons are Russian/Ukrainian. They know the drill and arent judgmental.

The frequent guest added to the experience by being kind and even buying a round for us. They provided us a robe, towel, and sandals. We were also given a locker. There are 3 saunas to explore. Highly recommend you join an aromatherapy session and make it through the 3 rounds. Dont miss out on the food. It was wonderful and you cant go wrong with any dish. Although it is clothing optional and coed, we were able to use swimsuits and felt comfortable our whole visit.

I have been to the Banya a couple of times now and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. At first impression, I wasn t sure about the lounge space, it feels a little random, but the space is very clean and the food and drink are really good. The dry sauna is amazing! The three levels of seating allow me to accommodate what level of heat I want. And it gets really hot! It s smells amazing in there. If you have the opportunity to be in the sauna when they do the aroma therapy session, it s fantastic! Guests can be as clothed as they want to be. And the cold plunge is VERY cold! Everyone from staff to other guests are incredibly friendly and both nights I visited I enjoyed meeting new people and visiting with regulars. And they brought this incredible dessert for my friend s birthday!

My friend and I ( both female) felt so comfortable, my husband and our other friend( both male) said their locker /shower rooms were nice and clean, as was ours. It was amazing quick to sweat and the aroma therapy is done by hand like a class. We all throughly enjoyed ourselves and will be making an appointment for next month for sure. The kitchen staff saved you from complete disappointment; it was delicious and the prices were reasonable. Of the three steam rooms (hammam, Finnish sauna and Russian steam room), only the Russian one works, but it is very dilapidated. Womens short robes are just a misogynistic joke. There was a feeling that men from the 90s and early 2000s immigrated and brought the devastation and service of those years with them. Ordinary public baths, those where boys are on the left, girls are on the right, no complaints, now in Russia are better, cleaner and more comfortable than THIS disgrace for 70 dollars. These are the impressions. Overall, it s a sad sight, despite the fact that I really love the Russian bathhouse, and the bathhouse culture of different countries in general, and have been to wonderful bathhouses in the Russian Federation, Lithuania and Germany. Yes, in Texas it is difficult to find good baths and saunas, as in Europe, they are not as popular. But from my experience, the service, infrastructure, cleanliness and organization of the process are better at the Korean SPA in Houston.

The best banya in Texas, it doesn t get better than this. Our every experience in the Russian Banya is very pleasant and enjoyable. It has this specific Slavic vibe to it and I absolutely love it because it reminds me of home. The banya itself is pretty big, it can fit many people and it doesn t get too crowded. And banya temperature gets really hot, especially if you splash water on the rocks - your gym sauna doesn t even stand near. There is aroma therapy every day and the owner Misha makes it truly unforgettable. The cold plunge is COLD, not for the weak. Decent 45F (6C) water temperature makes you see what you re made of. The price is you pay $70 + tip and you can go for the entire week for as much time as you want, in my opinion it s 100% worth it. If you get a monthly or yearly membership then it s cheaper. They also have additional massage services, venik, and you can buy a banya hat :) There is delicious Slavic cuisine restaurant and the food really reminds me of my grandma s. Make sure you don t skip dessert :) As a Ukrainian, it makes me very happy that Russian Banya stands with Ukraine and I will gladly bring my friends here and come back again. Thank you!

This place is the real deal and a true gem!A well run traditional Russian banya (bath house) and I believe the only Russian bath House in Texas and maybe the South? If you havent had a Russian banya, its the best of both a traditional Finish dry sauna and Turkish steam bath, but with a uniquely Russian twist. Highly recommend planning an entire afternoon and evening here. They serve amazingly yummy traditional Russian food and drinks. My partner Emily and I got the full treatment - a venik platza (traditional Russian oak leaf steam treatment/ massage... cant explain it just needs to be experienced) and a hammam body scrub (soooo good!). Stayed and feasted in the lounge and then went back into the banya for the complimentary evening aromatherapy treatment in the banya. The cold plunge here is amazing and complemented the heat of the banya! All the staff are super friendly and the owner Michael made a point of coming up to introduce himself and welcome us... the kind of customer service you just dont really see much of anymore. Hes the new owner for the past 2 years... ignore the negative reviews of the past and book yourself an evening of cultural immersion into the best of Russian hospitality that you definitely wont regret!

The borscht is bomb, the woman s cook is super class, the cuts and everything included are top notch, the entrance is a little expensive but you can go for three days, and there s also a main wood-burning steam room!! This is not Chicago or the East Coast, your skin really melts here, if you can park a truck on a bobtail but without a trailer, it s good to take a steam bath for those who read

Absolutely loved getting to try authentic Russian food! They were very courteous and polite. They do warn on the site that the food will take awhile as it is made-to-order but it is well worth the wait. I loved getting to hear the language being spoken around me and the rye bread while you waited was delicious. A nice spiced and hefty flavor paired with butter. The shuba was really good! I enjoyed the salty and juicy herring under the mayoed veggies and the egg on top pairs well with the rest! The soleniya plate was very good as well! All the delicious pickled veggies were so unique to each other in flavor. I was partial to the pickled garlic, carrots, and mushrooms. The beef pelmeni was fresh and delicious as well! The dough wasnt too thick and the meat mixture was beefy and salty and they tasted great with the dill sprinkled on top and a bit of sour cream on top as well. I finished it all off with blinchiki with cottage cheese that also came with honey spots and fruit spots on the plate to sop up with the blini. The cottage cheese filling was warm, gooey, cheesy and sweet! Top it with some of the fruit and sour cream and it is just . I also got the recommended cake as well. I believe he said it had honey on the inside. It paired really good with the strawberries it was topped with! It was like a honey filled strawberry shortcake. Delicious! Im definitely swinging by again if Im back in town on business. I would like to experience the banya as well at some point!

The aromatherapy sessions are very good and entertaining. Very clean and unpretentious, people tend to be very modest and considerate regarding clothing. I will try the Platza some time as it seemed really relaxing and invigorating at the same time. Would love if they had different types of passes/membership to accommodate weekend and frequent guests. I also recommend trying the food and the siberian cola.

I went with my husband a few days ago for the first time and it was truly an interesting experience at the Russian Banya. Its a coed thing so you are gonna see men and women in the same area. They have two really hot sauna rooms, one with dry heat and the other with humid heat. On top of that, they have a wet sauna room, which I like most cos the temp was quite comfortable to me. They also have a cold plunge bathtub too if you want to switch between hot and hot. It is not as crowded as King Spa or Spa castle and there is a more communal feel at the banya cos people can talk with each other instead of trying to be quiet like at the Korean spas. People we met there were all super nice too. They give you towes and bathrobes there. In most common areas, people will wear their robes or have the towels around them. Most women wore my swimsuits and most men wore shorts. You can bring your own sandals to walk around. If not, they have some there. The owner also came to one of the sauna rooms every couple of hours to do the aroma therapy, during which he would pour different buckets with different herbs onto the rocks in the room and use a giant fan to fan us with those herbal scents. I thought that was quite cool cos it was quite a personal interaction with the owner. Every staff we met there was very helpful and nice. They also have a Russian restaurant inside, next to the sana rooms so if you are hungry and want to try some authentic Russian food, you can order, sit and eat right there. They have a pool table there too. Highly recommend this place!

If youve never been to a Banya, stop what youre doing and go now. We loved it. Good food, good beer, great saunas and cold plunge! Like a spa but much more chill, social, and freeing. This is the only one in Texas and one of the few that is wood fired. Michael keeps a great lounge space and clean shower rooms and does an awesome aroma therapy! Bring sandals. They provide towel, robe and lock. You get to move between 3 different saunas, a cold splash and a cold plunge, and order food and drinks in the lounge area between sauna sessions. Its super cool!

Review update: 12/16/22. I had not been to the Russian Banya since my visit on 2/26/2021. Went this evening only to find out they have over doubled the price to $70 since my last review. You can imagine my sticker shock . Certainly they have made a lot of really nice improvements, but the value is no longer there. I used to go at least once a week and sometimes as often as three times a week when I was fortunate to be able to purchase a 15 punch pass for roughly $15 per visit. I doubt if I will return, which grieves me Because I loved going to the Russian Banya. 5 star experience, 2 star price/value. Moving the aggregate rating from 5 Star to 3 Star. If you have the discretionary funding, I highly recommend that you try out the Russian Banya at least once. Just do not expect the elegance, variety, and value-per-dollar of Spa Castle. Review update: 2/26/2021. The Russian Banya is better than ever! We went last night for the first time since Covid, and the renovations are absolutely outstanding! And it is very apparent they are not yet finished. The food was better than it ever has been, and the food presentation blew me away. I had not expected that. The new owners have made amazing improvements on an already nice establishment, and is doing a great job on keeping the place as Covid free as practical. 5 star experience, 5 Star price/value ______________________ The following review was four years ago. Incredible saunas, wonderful authentic Russian food, friendly staff, and a wonderful place to make new friends. The Russian Banya is wonderfully rustic, offering an incredible escape from the hectic pace of life.

Thank God for this place! There are only a handful of true banyas like this in the U.S., and I feel so lucky to have discovered that Dallas has one while on a road trip to El Paso and Marfa. The Russian sauna was at the absolute perfect temperature and humidity, which made the platza service from Misha the best Ive ever had. Vladimirs massage was fantastic. The cold plunge was ice cold, and the food from the restaurant hit the spot. Get the pelmeni dumplings! Next time Im anywhere near Texas Im making a trip to this place.

A friend told me about Platza. I googled it and this place came up. I didn t get the platza done, but I m certainly coming back for it. The food was incredible. The saunas are the hottest you will find, maybe anywhere in the states. The dry sauna was around 190° which leaves you craving the cold plunge. This place is incredibly unique and therapeutic. Plan on an evening. It s easy to spend 4 hours or more without realizing it. The price is incredibly fair and the deep sleep you fall into when you crawl into your bed is like the kind of sleep that happens after a day of hard labor. Support this place. I live in Tulsa and I m going to make the drive on a regular basis because there is nothing like it.
