I have to say the food and drinks here were terrific. But the service was spotty. My group of 6 had started to order and they left after two orders. They didnt take anyone elses order. Then one more order. Ignored trying to get the rest ordered plus trying to get more napkins. But they were good about eventually getting to requests and get it right. Pricing was a little high but what restaurant pricing isnt skyrocketing? They really did have great food and drinks however.

Just had the buffet. At $24.99 a person, it was terrible. The meat was dry and overcooked, chicken, beef, and the pork. The enchiladas were subpar, tacos were stale. The only good thing was the flour tortillas. The corn tortillas had been steaming for too long. Order off the menu no matter how good the buffet food looks.

I came to Nicos in August for an event with my mother and a friend, and it was a nice venue! Even though the restaurant appears to be quite small (not to mention its in the corner suite), the insides much more spacious than how it looks. Either way, to perhaps no surprise, I decided to try their brisket quesadilla, and it was amazing. Id happily order it again, but the choice to go with it was a tough one. Ever since I saw the menu, Ive been eager to try so many more options, and I remain so five weeks out. I also tried their tres leches cake for dessert, which, too, was fantastic in its own right. Despite the arrival of a large crowd within the next hour that Id expect to trigger some scrambling among the staff, the servers who brought us our food were extremely efficient and welcoming my meal was ready and at the table within ten minutes of ordering it. The restaurant is quite inviting and well-kept. It was also clever to put a playground behind it for children who might want some time outside of the restaurant itself; its in a convenient spot, too. I didnt use it, of course, but Id like to see more restaurants incorporating playgrounds for those who want to use them. Id happily return and recommend Nicos Cocina if youre in Carrollton!

Love this place, come here several times a month. The outdoor seating area is covered, and has a large kids playground which is also covered. We bring my young niece here and she loves to play while the adults have a nice dinner. Food is delicious - especially their beef. Carne Asada is amazing, its the best thing Ive gotten although the tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas are also very good. Its on their pricier side but you definitely get what you pay for! I do wish they had a few smaller portioned dishes that were less expensive though.

My husband and I love this place. It is seriously our go-to mexican restaurant. The servers are just incredibly sweet and make you feel like family (shoutout to Naum and Miguel)! Their salsa and bean dip is awesome, and they always bring out a ton for the table (you often get your own). We love their fajitas and their food is always great. The margs are fantastic - I always get the frozen mango margarita with tajin! Also the building used to be a daycare, so they have this massive outdoor seating area around a playground. Its a great spot to take your kids if they cant sit still for dinner haha!

Ive gone here a couple times for street tacos and queso. First, staff is very friendly, and great. To the tacos, theyre pretty good, but lacking. Definitely need more onions. The quantity of meat is very solid. And flavor is great. Queso, pretty bland on flavor. Cant speak to the rest of the menu. Add more onions and the street tacos will definitely elevate.

The food is okay but we loved the service they were really nice and quickly came to take our order. The playground was perfect for our 2 year old we were able to see him clearly while we relaxed and ate. The drinks were not lacking on the alcohol and the food was a good portion. We love coming here with our kids. They can play while the grownups can chat. The food and drinks are always excellent as well! I love the bacon wrapped shrimp. Every time we come here the staff is always hustling so be good to them! They bust their chops to make sure you are taken care of. There might be a wait but its definitely worth it. Vegetarian options: Tons of options with no meat and if you see something with it tge staff is always happy to help adjust it. Dietary restrictions: Im a dairy free nursing mom and there are plenty of options with no dairy here. I have asked the staff to hold tge cheese if necessary as well. Parking: The parking lot is small but there seems to be a spot for everyone. This place is on a strip off a main road so it is a busy lot. Kid-friendliness: There is a playground in the back for the kids. As well as a full kids menu with dry erase markers to draw with and kids cups. Our kids love this place.

Rated a rare 5 for me due to versatility offered for parents. Cant think of another place in DFW where you can eat good meal, drink, and watch your kids play (mostly unsupervised) as you eat your meal. I had the fish soup and was impressed. Very hearty bowl served. Unlike some places that offer the same dish; they are not shy with the amount of fish they put in the soup. I accompanied it with a margarita and my wife had the nachos. My kids ran in and we gave them food and they went back to playing. Though this place is like 25 mins from where I live; I will definitely return and return often. Its refreshing to see kids playing, falling, crying and making friendships vs what I see in over 95% of restaurants. Kids, enter with their heads down, zombied out, on their tablet so they keep quiet. Here, they get to play while the parents eat. This extension/wing of the restaurant is enclosed by the way. There is a wooden door but its decently challenging to open for a kid as its big, sturdy and kinda heavy. Finally, they have awesome prices on drinks and a good selection of tequila and mezcal.

The food didn t have any flavor.. like any at all three out of five people at the table were not satisfied with their food. The guacamole was like chopped up avocado, it was decent but just not to my liking bc again, there was no flavor.. queso was super runny. We could have went next door and got better food at the taqueria. We were not satisfied with anything that we ordered. I will say the salsa and chips were really good. Apparently the chimichangas that were ordered were the only decent food item at our table and apparently even those didn t have enough cheese on them. This restaurant has a kids playground outside on the patio. You can sit and eat while the little ones play in the covered playground. It has a grass kind of carpet so the little ones wount hurt themselves. The food is delicious and service is excellent. We went for the playground and sadly didnt get a seat outside. Then we got sat in the back room because it was understandably busy and the ambience there was lackluster. BUT that said, the service and the food were FANTASTIC. Quick, attentive service, delicious food. Everything was so flavorful and seasoned perfectly and was not drowned in cheese as my mother took note of. We ordered the ceviche (YUM!!!!!!), birria tacos (DOUBLE YUM!!!!), tamales (delicious masa, plenty meat and delicious sauce), Enchiladas (my husband enjoyed them, but i didnt get a taste myself) and my baby loved his kids Enchilada plate which also looked delicious! Excited to go again and hopefully get a seat outside to experience the playground dining experience. The food is good, the place is pretty clean (as long as you dont go in the bathrooms), but my main qualm is we looked at the drink menu and it said happy hour 3pm-7pm. It was 6:30 so we were happy we fell within that time, and ordered two large margaritas. Well the bill came and it was $12 and $13, we asked why they were that expensive and apparently happy hour doesnt apply to large margaritas. We were not told this, nor was not mentioned on the drink menu, and I triple checked that. Feels dishonest and underhanded enough that no prices are listed on the drink menu, but to then have secret clauses and conditions is doubly so. While the margaritas were delicious, I will certainly not be ordering any again.

OK neighborhood restaurant with a huge back patio and playground for the kids. Drinks are nice--they dont skimp on the alcohol. The food is fair, at best.

It had been a long time since I rated 5 stars across the board. NUAM - (sorry if i spelled it wrong) was the best server ever. Sweet , assertive , he stayed on top of everything. Such a sweetie . FOOODDDDD WASSSS AMAZINNNG! Atmosphere was homey , they even turned the lights down which was comforting They have a playground in the back for kids. A all around good family friendly place.

Went there for the playground and stayed for the great food and drinks. The food was delicious and the service was great. The kids were entertained while the adults had a peaceful meal. They didn t skimp on the meat on The Caldo de Mar (fish and shrimp stew). It was light and great for a autumn night. The chicken a la Mexicana was well rounded with tender and moist chicken breast. My kid that doesn t eat much, ate 90% of the Nico s tilapia with garlic butter. Finally a cold beer and a delicious watermelon margarita were perfect compliment for the dinner. Love this place, love the food. Great salsa and bean dip. Chicken tortilla soup, guac, steak, and caldo are my favorite. Chill location for good Mexican food. They also have a banquet hall for parties or celebrations. Full bar, happy hour M-F, and plenty of parking

Went in with a group of 5 people after church & and wow, it was so busy. But the food is always great there. The brunch was going on & was about to end. We didnt want that. We ordered off the menu & that is where the problem is. But it all turned out well.

Definitely great food for the money, we went to the Saturday brunch buffet. They also have brunch buffet on Sunday as well. I highly recommend it. Parking: Parking is in the shopping center so plenty of parking options. He may have to park further away depending on how busy the other businesses are in the same shopping center.

The food was just okay...enchiladas, rice and beans. I didnt like the chips/bean dip because it lacked flavor. The atmosphere is okay but can get very loud acousticly...especially when the waiter sings happy birthday. Probably wont be back but most people enjoyed it at the table.

Food was decent. I will come back for the play area and service though. Juan was lovely. And the kids had a blast. The patio was hot but thats not a knock against the restaurant. This is Texas. Anyway I say this because the team was happy to turn on the fans for us and quick with waters for the table. Kid-friendliness: Awesome play area. Great for kids around 18m to 5ish?

I keep forgetting to take a picture of my food before I devour it but the food was very good very well portioned Im actually full. Chips and salsa was really good just had to add a little salt. Presentation was nice. Delivery of food was quick and it was hot. The manager Defiance (I hope thats right) He was such a sweetheart. Thank you for your kindness!

Definitely a local gem. Really solid food at very reasonable prices. GREAT for families with kids. They have a playground in the enclosed back patio that your kids can play in while you watch from a nearby table. PRO-TIP: Kids being crazy and you dont want to try and walk them through a restaurant? Park in the back and you can access the back patio directly without having to take your screaming kids inside. Love this place. Kid-friendliness: This is the best restaurant I know of in the area to take young children. The restaurant and staff are clearly used to dealing with families coming in so you dont have to feel so on edge when your kids are being a little nuts.

Came in a little after 5 on Sunday after a long day at work. The parking lot, while semi-hectic, provided plenty of space and ease of parking. When you approach the building, which I thinking recall wheelchair accessible ramps, there are two doors due to it being a corner place. Take the right door and go down the hall on the left, this was probably the only thing that threw me off for a split second but when you go thru the other door inside you are greeted immediately and sat. The service, impeccable. Drinks were dropped off quickly and remained topped off with ever needing to worry about getting too low. These people were reading my mind and anticipating every need before I knew I needed it. You are given your drinks and are served chips with a couple choices which I didnt expect and let me tell you, that black bean dip they serve alongside their salsa was God-Tier. The salsa itself also slapped. Very nice thickness to it, ot runny, plenty of spices you can see in it. Very good stuff. I need to mention that the chips were HOT and fresh every single refill. We ended up getting a bowl of Queso as well just because the other dips went so hard, the queso had to follow suit. Tbh, the black bean dip outshined both the salsa and queso. I need that stuff in my fridge. When the food did come out which didnt take long, we received our Beef Chimichanga and Beef Quesadilla. I want to say that this was probably in regard to consistency and seasonings one of the largest burritos Ive seen outside exaggerated/challenge menu items. Extremely delicious, and the rice/beans that came with it were both cooked to perfection regarding the texture. The beef quesadilla, like the black bean dip, immediately became one of my new staple comfort foods. I think they actually put some of that dip in the quesadilla itself and I wanted to cry tears of joy, especially as I was being topped off on everything. The servers and bussers were very kind and attentive from start to finish. We grabbed our meal to go as we have so much left due to stuffing our faces on that addictive set of chips/dips they have. I sincerely hope everyone here is financially well and happy. I wish them nothing but success and recommend this place to anyone wanting some delicious Mexican food.
