Innovative taste maker in the College Station/Bryan area. Friendly and attentive staff. Ellie was a delight. Loved dining alone here and hearing the tables next to me proclaim how good their meals were. The Bluefin Maki roll is the most unique and quality tuna based roll I ve ever had. Love the art that s in the space and wish there were more pieces to admire!

Small, trendy, bustling sushi bar and restaurant. Very convenient if staying at The Stella. Full bar with a decent wine and sake selection. Great service and delicious food. We had a selection of appetizers (the tempura shrimp and calamari are awesome) and several rolls. Did not try the entrees but they looked delicious. Highly recommend if in the area. Make a reservation!

I have had sushi in 12 different states, and this is the best sushi of my life. The menu is exceptionally unique, but every item is carefully crafted to be visually stunning and serve a delicious fantasy. The Bluefin Toro roll is the must scrumptious thing I have ever eaten. The bluefin tuna belly is decident, the asain pear in the roll is refreshing, and I get an endorphine high by the time I am done eating it. I normally cant handle spicy food, but the Blazing Mango roll delivers the flavor the wasabi, jalepenos, and chili tobiko (things I can never eat) without the punch of the heat. While I may be a desert snob (I reject most deserts in College Station), Kanjis black sesame ice cream is a must-have. I have never experienced an ice cream flavor quite like it, but it has become my favorite ice cream flavor. Of course the atmosphere is incredble, and the service has always been consistantly amazing. You can even do sushi making classes! In my opinion, Kanji Sushi is the best resturant in Bryan/College Station in terms of flavor, experience, service, and consistancy.

Had lunch with an old friend at Kanji Sushi today and it was absolutely amazing! We each got a chopped salad and shared some rolls which was the perfect balance of light and decadent at such a beautiful location. Vegetarian options: The Chopped Salad was a good entree portion and paired with some steamed edamame for some protein would make a perfect meal. Parking: There was Kanji Carry Out reserved parking; as well as, several lots around the retail center.

My recent dining experience at Kanji Sushi was nothing short of enchanting, thanks in large part to the culinary artistry of Chef Tae. From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, Chef Taes warm hospitality set the stage for an afternoon of gastronomic delight. Chef Tae was not just a chef; he was a gracious host who took the time to connect with us as his guests. His passion for sushi and dedication to his craft were palpable as he guided us through a culinary journey that left an indelible mark on our taste buds. The sushi at Kanji, under Chef Taes skilled hands, was nothing short of a revelation. Each piece was a testament to his expertise and commitment to perfection. The flavours were exquisite, and the presentation was a work of art. It was evident that Chef Tae poured his heart and soul into each creation, and we felt truly blessed to have experienced his culinary magic. Hands down, Kanji Sushi is one of the best sushi places Ive had the pleasure of visiting. The combination of Chef Taes skill, the quality of the ingredients, and the overall ambiance of the restaurant creates a dining experience that transcends the ordinary. Five stars are an understatement for an establishment that has truly mastered the art of sensory dining. A heartfelt thank you to Chef Tae for the incredible lunch; it was a pleasure meeting you.

Good sushi spot, and the price tag really reflects it. Come for the sushi and maybe the appetizers. The non-sushi dishes are okay, probably overpriced for what you re getting. Their sushi dishes are still pricey, but better portioned, and taste great. It s a fancy restaurant, so portions are small and prices are high. It is a very nice spot, and they have lots of different sushi dishes to try. Would recommend for a special occasions, but not if you re just looking for good sushi and/or are on a budget.

Amazing is all I can say. The sea bass with the miso sauce is delectable. 10/10 recommend. Edamame was a good choice to fight of the hunger as this beautiful meal was prepared. H2O from the finest source, a filtered water supply. And I also tried the matcha crème brûlée, which as you well know was amazing. The price point isn t bad for what you get. The atmosphere is nice, aesthetically pleasing, and the pond nearby makes for a great place to recollect your thoughts after you ve been blown away by this meal.

Excellent quality and very fresh, unfortunately the prices are too high and sauces too heavy. After tax and tip, $7 for fresh wasabi and $30 for two pieces of otoro is difficult to justify. Rolls themselves were good, but both were swimming in sauces that made them soggy and overpowered the flavor of the fish, not what you expect for a $37 roll. We both felt with such high quality ingredients the sauces were completely unnecessary. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive; I do think management should always come by to ask how everything was though. Well likely give it another shot after more time has passed to see if any of the above has improved.

Went here for date night. Cons: hostess didn t great us, she just yelled at us: RESERVATION?! Overpriced , nothing special to be honest. My husband and I have tried so much sushi in all USA, Mexico and Europe. So we weren t impressed with the sushi and the pricing. Positive; waitress was friendly , but they seemed overwhelmed for such a small place. Drinks were good and tasty! I ll give it 3 stars because I wasn t impressed with 4 tiny pieces of blue fin tuna for $16. Not very friendly host. Also, I would suggest maybe some curtains in their side of the bar - it was SO bright at 6pm. I would invest in some shade. If I m spending money $150+ on sushi I guess I d rather go to 40 tempura or Oishi in college station. Sorry not sorry for my review

Truly the best sushi restaurant in town. Not a cheap meal but definitely worth it. I m not giving the full 5 stars because the dinner felt cheapened when our waitress brought over the electronic device to pay. She held the device while we inserted the card and intently stared at the screen while we selected her tip. If I m paying $200+, I at least want the privacy to pay. The payment process makes it feel like you re at Chili s or Olive Garden. Could be a top tier restaurant otherwise.

Japanese theme/ touch is in everything, including the cocktails - will have to experiment with several to find the one you like :) Food was outstanding- really impressed with the food quality. Some items on the menu really surprised me - to find this in a small town in Texas - Impressed! Although the restaurant has been open just few months, I think they have it figured out. Took away a star for atmosphere only because of the floors - not sure if the peeling floor paint finish was intentional :)

Someone asked me recently what I mean by real sushi. The fish has to be served cold, rice should be seasoned but not so much that it overpowers the taste of the raw fish. Rice should be cooked where the granules still separate and not mushed together. Depending on the cut of fish, textures should have varying chews but never leathery and never ever a fishy canned tuna taste. If you get specialized rolls with sauces, then the sauces should be light so you can taste the fish. Kanji is the only real sushi restaurant in town. After trying a few other highly rated sushi restaurants in BCS, we gave up on finding sushi in this town. We went to Kanji with apprehension but were hugely impressed. The cocktails were delicious and unique. The sushi was fresh. They even had uni from Santa Barbara, and if you know you know. We lived in NorCal for 10+ years and had amazing access to sushi, and weve also traveled to Japan and had sushi at the fish markets. This place is the real deal. Keep up the good work chefs!

Had a really wonderful experience at the 10 course tasting menu event hosted at Solt in preparation for the grand opening. Chef Tai personally came around describing each dish as they came out, and all of the service was lovely and fast. I see how hard he works as a restauranteur and am sure this will carry over into the new location. Ill give my thoughts on each dish below; but there wasnt a single one I didnt gladly finish. Tuna & Hamachi Tartare - great intro, cream sauce with chili was a perfect compliment. The crunch on top helped with the texture to not be so mushy on the whole Dumplings with Mushroom Crisp - wow, dumplings are so tender from streaming and I love the pan fried bottom. Mushroom Crisp was the star though, absolute umami bomb plus the textual contrast to the supple dumplings Hamachi nigiri with banana pepper - well seasoned, I liked the banana pepper as a topping. Wish it was 2pc! Salmon nigiri with seared skin and enoki mushroom - liked the seared skin, super light flavor. I think it should have come before the hamachi bc of how delicate its flavor was Bluefin tuna with sea urchin roe and wasabi stem - my partner didnt like the wasabi stem, I liked it but honestly it just as well could have been the root for a spicier sensation. I dont think the roe added much here, the bluefin flavor shined through (which is a good thing!) Nori with tuna, cilantro, lime, soybean paper - wasnt expecting this flavor combo so it threw me at first but I like it. It benefited a lot from soy sauce and wasabi; its super light tasting and needs that salt + glutamate combo to accentuate the southwestern flavors Crab, cream cheese roll with salmon and pico de gallo / lemon rind topping - my favorite so far, wonderful flavor combo; fresh and zingy. Didnt need any soy sauce, the acid/citrus balance is already perfect Seared salmon with broth, mushrooms - flaky and tender, crispy skin, garlic flavor was subtle but just the right potency for this application Strip steak with mushroom demiglase, curry butter and roasted potatoes - WOW this flavor! I think if anything, the demiglase and curry butter could be separate; they both have so much to offer and pair perfectly with the steak. The roasted potatoes are flavor bombs, crispy and extremely umami Miso soup - good, nothing special just salty and mildly flavored Chocolate truffles - good, relatively dark chocolate. Needs salt to balance; the sesame seed one was my favorite because of the small amount of salt inherent to them. Matcha got totally washed out by chocolate. The other two of course just tasted like chocolate. I think all of them would be better with a bit more salt. Quantity was perfect for the richness of the chocolate, not everyone will want them at this level of darkness though (my partner likes it on the sweeter end, I thought it was just right)
