Rocket Ranch was great this morning with our host Mr. Gomez who witnessed the Camp grounds first Baptism. Mr. Gomez was great and walked us through navigating the rivers depth and was ready to lend a hand and assist should we need it. The showers were really clean and smelled clean. This is a beautiful location to bring the family and friends for any and all occasions I highly recommend. God bless Mr. Gomez and my the Rocket Ranch be blessed as well.

Paid $200 foe the experience of being there wasnt told at the time of payment I couldnt bring my dog. Owners idea of accommodation was for me abandon my animal in my vehicle so he wouldnt be scared of loud noise. Like abandoning a young animal you exclusively love teach and take care of in full knowledge that abandonment would only create a scarier situation for that animal is recommending someone be cruel. Would not recommend this place other than the location. Edit to add, since the owner so graciously replied at some point: You believe you understand what is best for an animal you do not know and also that you know more than the dogss human who lives with him every day and spends less than a few hours a week on average away from him. You dont. Youve proven yourself to be just as condescending as you did the night we met. Given I paid in advance, it should have been made clear during the payment process animals were not allowed so that other accommodations could be met or offered a refund for not being clear when you accepted my money.

If you re a Space X fan, this place is for you. They even have 1 Tesla destination charger (only 5 kW/20A though). They have live camera views of all the action so even the mildly interesting stuff is super cool to be there for, not just launch day. Super friendly staff, and Anthony is a treasure trove of knowledge.

Interesting place and not at all what I expected. Bought a few nights there to see the Starbase. We rolled in listening to a song about the destruction of methamphetamine. Found the gate unlocked so we continued in. Dilapidated structures and trash were the first thing we saw. I stopped at the end of the driveway and looked do any signage as to where to check in. None to be seen. My wife and I discussed this and headed to the blue trailer house. And knocked then opened the door. No signs of anyone around. I asked the only other person there who was sitting by the river. She told me the guy was in the trailer. Together we went to the other side of the mobile home and entered the building and called out. No answers. I then checked out the area again and found a pontoon boat that was rigged with many chairs as if for commercial use. I am pretty sure the uscg would have something negative to say about it touring with people. In addition the dock was very worn out. I would have told my clients to rope it off to avoid getting hurt. I took a look at the trailers, for rent , and found them to look very old and not at all appealing. I told my wife that the place looked like what that guy was singing about as we passed thru those unlocked gate. The general sense was a really run down mobile home renting out old trailers. I texted the guy Anthony back asking about where to check in. An hour later he replied that, I quote, There is! But should not affect you. Wow... such a way to ruin a business. I not going to ask for our money back. I hope people read and understand just how odd and dirty this place is. We left the way we came in and never looked back.

Came for the rocket, stayed for the ranch! Rocket Ranch is an amazing experience to meet like-minded individuals wanting to camp out while seeing the largest rocketry fly. The Ranch is very accommodating, but the location is rough- as long as youre not expecting a a bougie hotel, or KOA-like hookups, this location has everything else. Great views of the river, the ranch house is a comfortable meeting place, and outpost tickets make this place a slam dunk. Ive been here for two launches, great memories are made here! Noteworthy details: During SpaceX launches the campground can get fairly full, but the days surrounding it its pretty laid back. Rocket Ranch has two locations: this location, and their outpost- which is a separate viewing ticket where Rocket Ranchs astro bus shuttles you between. Check out their website.

If you are at all interested in the SpaceX program you need to stay here. The location is truly incredible, nestled on the banks of the Rio Grande River just a few miles from the rocket manufacturing, assembly, testing and launch facilities. Anthony is a great host and does everything he can to make sure you enjoy your stay, always willing to talk about space in great detail. The primitive campsites offer no services but lots of room for almost any size rig or you can rent one of the many trailers already on site, you can even rent a room in the main house. There are very clean restrooms and showers available for use. Even if you arent interested in SpaceX this is a great location to stay, surrounded by wildlife preserve it is so peaceful and beautiful and just a short drive to the ocean beach. They also own another property just 3 miles from the launch pad where you can view the launches with an amazing perspective.

I visited Boca Chica because I am a space enthusiast and wanted to fulfill a dream to see the biggest rocket ever made. When I checked for hotels I saw the Rocket Ranch was close so I booked a room. It was the best decision I made. The host, Anthony, contacted me to make sure I had everything I need. It was great to talk to him about space related topics. He is as passionate as me even more . He has a bunch of cameras to monitor Starship activities. You can even see the top of a booster at the Massi s location from the front door. We booked a primitive campsite with Rocket Ranch easily on line. Reasonable price. Nice site along the Rio Grand River. When we arrived Anthony was super welcoming and gave us all the information we needed about camping at Rocket Ranch. He is a 5 star host! He also called and let us know that there was going to be a Rocket booster movement at Starbase. So we were able to get an up close look at the booster coming out of the bay and moving down the road to the launch site. How cool is that!!!! Definitely will return to Rocket Ranch.

We camped here with the whole family in 2022. The site was still under development, but it was an incredible experience. Camping south and the Rio Grand in Texas. Anthony (the manager) was a well of information about all things Space X and had some awesome mementos of space craft that had a RUD during the testing campaign at the nearby Star Base. We didnt stay in the rooms which is why I didnt rate them. Notes: Bring insect repellent - it was an absolute assault of mosquitos, ants and many other. It fascinated and scared the children in equal measure. The whole area is a treasure trove for bird watchers (twitchers and ornithologists alike). There are also some rich and interesting historic sites neighboring the actual campsite. Never a dull moment.

I m Nic Ansuini, and I take pictures of Rockets. Over the past two and a half years, I ve spent countless days at Rocket Ranch. I ve spent groggy mornings, lazy afternoons, and wild nights at the Ranch, and I can unequivocally say that this place is the best part of the RGV. The community that Anthony and David have build is like none other. Starbase is a unique place, and one of its shining gems are the people at Rocket Ranch. Staying at the Ranch is an adventure! You never know what is going to happen, but you ll always be steps away from witnessing history being made at Starbase. Rooms: Rooms at the Ranch are quant and clean. You can stay in space themed rooms, or converted/restored antique camper vans Nearby activities: SpaceX s Starbase is just miles away from Rocket Ranch. Safety: The manager, Anthony, always goes above and beyond to keep safety the priority. Walkability: Unfortunately you WILL need a vehicle. Starbase s location in Boca Chica was specifically chosen because of its remoteness in South Texas. Food and drinks: Best food this side of Mexico! And if Galen or Andrew are cooking, you re in for a very special treat! Noteworthy details: This is the closest place you can be to watch the world s largest rocket launch.

If you are experienced with camp grounds, this is the very best place to stay for a visit to SpaceX Starbase, Texas. Be aware that they have communal facilities and pack appropriately. You are on the Rio Grande so insect repellent is a must. There are grills next to each trailer, so bring charcoal and a nice steak for the best experience. Nearby activities: Make sure to visit the Rocket Ranch Outpost Viewing Complex for an elevated platform view of the SpaceX Starbase. The absolute best spot if you plan on visiting Starbase! We made a last minute booking at 7pm. You can call for information but to book your stay you must do so online (if your call doesn t go through the first time, just try again). It s easy to get to the camp site but it s a bumpy ride so take it slow and watch out for bunnies galore and other wildlife. To open the gate you will receive a padlock combination (this can be tricky to open in the dark). Remember that you are staying at a campsite so expect mud and critters such as mosquitos, spiders, and cockroaches. Although there was a caution sign for alligators and snakes, the bunnies and exotic birds felt safe enough to call the camp their home. A flashlight and bug spray for your stay is recommended. There were many pleasant surprises, big and small, especially for space enthusiasts, and a 240V 20A Tesla charger and a dockside view of Mexico! The Bathrooms/Showers were clean and well lit. Our host was absolutely delightful to socialize with, we got lots of valuable local information and recommendations. Overall, if you are an outdoor person you will absolutely love it. We would have enjoyed staying longer if not for our tight trip itinerary.

If you ARE looking for good times with cool people who are interesting and smart and passionate about space and SoaceX, and you are looking for adventure, then you have found your place. I would compare this to help you understand, but I dont know of any place that compares. It is a high-tech commune (in the best way) of inspired and inspiring people. The remoteness from the rest of the world coupled with the close proximity to Starbase, the gateway to Mars, is unbelievably cool. Make sure you have a vehicle so you can get to Starbase (a few miles down the road) or to Brownsville for food or what-not. Some guests make food to share with the others, using the ranch house kitchen... I made about a dozen home-made pizzas for everyone and it was a blast, and some other guests helped out. Good times! This is literally on a wildlife preserve, so lots of nature around. Everything is on the banks of the Rio Grande river. In the morning the fish are jumping like crazy in the river. Didnt see anyone fishing but I cant help but think it would be very active.

Rocket Ranch sits right on the Rio Grande, where the fish jump, the river sparkles, and the great tailed grackle sings and, well... grackles. And right next door are spaceships that land themselves! Simply speaking, this is the place where nature meets human innovation, where camping meets space travel, where earth s beauty is showcased just miles from where spaceships are being developed to take humans to Mars, the next frontier. The whole site is space themed. The clubhouse is decorated in a way that brings the old with the new, showcasing the development of space travel over time. It is an ode to human innovation and exploration, a haven for all lovers of rocket technology, SpaceX, and all that entails. Don t expect to be camping alone and secluded - this is more of a social experience, where the campfire is communal and people gather in the clubhouse to socialize and eat dinner together. This place attracts all sorts of interesting people, many coming to wait for the next SpaceX launch. They even have boat trips that take you down the Rio to an exclusive viewing spot of the launches, closer than you could get by land! When they serve dinner, the food is homemade and fantastic! One time we had slow cooked brisket, and that was the bees knees. I cant wait to come back!

This is the place to go if you want to get the closest view to a SpaceX starship launch.

Awesome place! We were in town to explore the area and check out the SpaceX rocket launch. Robin was so friendly and helpful and all the other campers were so nice. It s a newer place and it was sort of camp-where-you-can, but it s very clean and private and they have a huge fire pit.

We just had an amazing adventure at the Rocket Ranch! For 3 weeks we camped right on the Rio Grande, overlooking Mexico. So serene and about as close as you can get to the SpaceX Starship launch complex in Boca Chica, Texas. From the ranch, turn right and just a few minutes of driving will get you up close and personal with rockets! This is the time to go, before they finish building the wall and the crowds result in more stringent security and less opportunity to see history in the making. The moon, mars, seem like a distant dream but come here and you will see how close we are to making it a reality. We were determined to watch Starship Serial Number 9 (SN9) launch...and our patience payed off! We opted to do the Rocket Ranch Launch Experience on the day of the launch and it was amazing!!!! But even without the launch, the beauty of these seemingly untouched beaches and far sweeping wildlife preserves teeming with birds and other cool creatures to observe is enough to make it worth the drive. This area is magnificent and I have fallen in love with Texas! Rocket Ranch is really the key to this experience. The owner is welcoming and accommodating. His staff prepared family dinners available for purchase every evening. Surrounded by mesquite trees, these folks know how to BBQ! Brisket, ribs, enchiladas, tacos and scratch made tamales. Breakfast was included and alternated between coffee and baked goods (store bought) and tex-mex egg/bacon/sausage/potato etc scrambles served with warm corn tortillas. We met some great people, now our friends, and awesome memories were made!

Our home away from home was one of the vintage travel trailers appropriately named, The Sub. It was clean, comfortable, and cozy. We waited several weeks to witness the SN9 launch and during that time, our host, David, and his staff made us feel welcome each day. The homestyle meals never disappointed! Clearly, their motto should be, come for the launch but stay for the food . While waiting, there was much to see in the area, just a short ride away. The SpaceX facility proved fascinating, the river delightful, the wildlife amazing to watch on the property, at the beach, and on our many hikes, and the stars in the night sky vivid beyond expectation. We met many like-minded rocket enthusiasts and shared interesting conversations by the fire pit at the river s edge. It was a truly a pleasure staying at Rocket Ranch, a diamond in the rough. We will be back!

I had an amazing stay this week at the Rocket Ranch staying in a retro camper. The food was delicious; we had juicy ribeye steak, tender fajitas and chicken all cooked over an open mesquite grill. We took a scenic boat ride on the Rio Grande to the launch site. Bird watching was amazing, as the river passes through the Lower Rio Grande Valley Wildlife Refuge. The private launch viewing site is an elevated deck with unobstructed views of the rocket pad 3 miles away. (the closest a civilian can get to the launch.) This place is spaceX fans paradise. The launch and landing of SN8 was the coolest thing Ive ever seen. Definitely going back.
