We visited the Texas Capitol in winter time last year, and the best part is that admission is free! There were quite a lot of tourists, which added to the lively atmosphere. Finding parking was a bit tricky, but we managed to do street parking and paid the meter for about an hour and a half. When you first walk in, there s a security check, which felt reassuring for safety. Once inside, the building s structure is absolutely stunning, especially the ceiling it s really impressive. It s a great place to teach your kids about Texas history. They ll come away with a much better understanding of the state s past.

The Texas State Capitol in Austin is a must-see for anyone interested in Texas history, architecture, or culture. From the moment you approach the building, its imposing pink granite structure stands majestically, standing out as one of the largest capitols in the country. The design is simply stunning, with a dome that rivals in height that of the United States Capitol in Washington D.C., reflecting the pride and greatness of the state of Texas. The interior is equally impressive, with intricately designed marble floors, wrought iron staircases, and rooms filled with historical details. The free tours are informative and filled with fascinating facts about the states history, its leaders, and the legislative process. Additionally, the staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable, which makes the experience even more enriching. The Capitol is also surrounded by beautiful gardens, perfect for walking around and enjoying the Austin skyline. It is a place where you can learn, admire the architectural beauty and, at the same time, enjoy a peaceful environment. Without a doubt, the Texas State Capitol is a gem in the heart of Austin, not only capturing the essence of the state, but also offering a window into Texas past and present. A five-star visit without a doubt. Highly recommended!

This high place of Texan administration is worth the detour, because this capitol is higher than that of the federal state, the visit is free and the architecture is impressive. A true concentrate of Washington DC style in pink granite. However, we regret that the park which surrounds it continues to celebrate the Confederate camp and the rights of the southern states through statues.

It took decades but thanks to God I made it to my state capitol. It was amazing! I had to stop, close my eyes and inhale history deeply. Every servant there is Texas friendly with sparkling Texan eyes. Nelson Nease, I hope I spelled this correctly, in typical Texas gentleman fashion escorted me to ladies room because I would have gotten lost in those pristine corridors. When I told Mr. Nease that daddy and mother were born in Marfa and that I was born and educated in El Paso, he said, Ah. Two of my favorite places. I was so proud that I inflated like a bullfrog. Later, I wanted some bottled water and Miss Leah walked me to the door of the Capitol Grill. I recognize a Texan anywhere because Texans exude a friendly and gracious charm. And we all have lively interesting eyes. My capitol is more beautiful to me because it stands tall and firm under the blazing sun. Sometimes you have to look up to remember who you really are. GOD BLESS TEXAS. GOD BLESS THOSE WHO SERVE AT OUR ELEGANT AND STURDY CAPITOL. Even if youre not a Texan visit the capitol. It is free to enjoy and inhale beauty and independence.

I recently visited the Texas State Capitol, and it was a truly remarkable experience. From the moment I approached the building, its grandeur was striking. The stunning pink granite exterior gleamed under the sun, and the majestic dome stood tall, symbolizing the pride of Texas. Inside, the Capitols design was equally impressive. The intricate details of the rotunda and the historical artwork provided a fascinating glimpse into Texas rich heritage. The guided tour was informative and engaging, shedding light on the building s history and the states legislative process. Walking through the chambers and hearing about pivotal moments in Texas history was both educational and inspiring. The grounds around the Capitol were equally beautiful, with well-maintained gardens and statues commemorating important figures and events. It was a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll or simply to soak in the historic ambiance. Overall, the Texas State Capitol is a testament to both architectural excellence and the vibrant history of Texas. It s a must-see for anyone interested in the states past or just looking to appreciate an iconic piece of American history.

The capital of Texas is a very important place. It is the headquarters of the government of the state of Texas, located in Downtown, Austin. The capitol, built in 1888, is in the Neo-Renaissance style. In 1970 the Capitol was added to the National Register of Historic Places. 0It is maintained by the Texas State Conservation Committee. It was designed by Elijah E. Myers, who also designed the Michigan Capitol and the Colorado Capitol.

The Texas capitol building is a beautiful piece of architecture sitting in Austin. Admission is free and it offers a break from the sometimes brutal heat. Upon entering you will have to go through a metal detector so just be prepared for that, but the que is quick and the officers are helpful and friendly. Once inside you have the option to take a guided tour throughout the building or you can just go on your own and explore all floors of the building which makes for some amazing photos! For me it was a 30 minute walk from the Marriott downtown but if you don t want to walk I m sure an Uber is easy. A couple of other hidden gems outside of the building as it is part of the film Austin as a few scenes from Machete was filmed there. There are a few places to park but I wouldn t always count on it being available. Lastly, plenty of shade outside as well so make sure you use it while exploring the premises outside!

Inside the capitol building is interesting, the architecture, the spaciousness, but I found it lacking in sharing the unique history of Texas. This is a building for running the government of the state, not a museum. But outside the capitol building, a couple of the most beautiful statues I ve seen, The Price of Liberty, and The Vietnam Veterans. Just a mile or two from Univ of Texas campus, and also LBJ s Presidential Library.

visited on my trip to Austin. Last time i was here, I was in 4th grade on a school field trip. The outside of the building, pathways, and grassy areas are nicely maintained. You can enter the building through the north or side entrance (theyre the same) where you will go through a metal detector and scanner. The building is famous for a sky high dome with paintings of past governors surrounding layers of the wall. Theres an elavator, diagrams that show the lay outs of each of the 4 floors and what is on there, plenty of stairs, and rooms where each congressman/meetings/etc occur. Those rooms are usually closed. Overall, nice to go to if you really want to. Kind of boring though. But nice if you want to take photos and learn about the governmental history of Texas. Also, visiting the capitol is free. No wait when I went on a sunday. You just have to find parking and a lot of places charge. Garage parking is usually more expensive. If you can find a parking meter, it is $1.50 per hour.

Texas Capitol allows you to enter inside the building with strict security check up. Inside the building, we can see all the governors photos up to the date. Further, we can see the actual assembly hall and speaker of the house chair as well. I heard if you visit in meetings hours you can actually see the ongoing meeting.

A very historic sight that is worth a visit for anyone traveling to Austin. The only thing I wish is that the capital tried to have more of its items from the gift shop Made In America or Made In Texas instead of Made In China.
