This used to be my favorite restaurant in Austin before they remodel (llama kid). Now the food its overpriced and way too little of food. Yes, this I understand this is gourmet but come on if you are going to charge that much you should at least provide more quantity. I hope they change their mentality because the service is excellent and the atmosphere is amazing.

Love the Atmosphere here. Even though it s right on a busy street they have created a Peruvian Oasis. Music makes you wish there was a dance floor. Outdoor bar with drinks shaking. The service is amazing. Staff is super accommodating and interested In knowing your thoughts. The Micro Ceviche was Amazing! the drinks were on point. We had the Passionfruit Pisco Sour and others. Well balanced and served at great temps. The lomo saltado left more to be desired. While the beef was cooked to perfection there was more rice than anything on the plate. More tomatoes would have been nice. There s was one cherry tomato on the plate. Portion was small and pricey. We will be back to try other things for sure. Would love to have a party in this space.

Expensive for what you get. Also, there was too much salt in almost everything. Thirdly, they made a mistake on the order, brought us one extra thing that we didnt order, then came back to argue that we really did order that extra thing. None of the staff were smiling; the vibe just felt weird. Food

I absolutely love this place. The Ceviche Nikkei makes me lose my mind every time I have it. I usually get the Lomo Saltado as an entree, but have tried numerous other dishes, and they always deliver on taste. The mango mule, and piscojito are my favorite cocktails to get. Seriously, please go to this place, I need it to survive. Its my go to for special occasions.

Absolutely loved this place. There is a large outdoor dining area that is charming. There are numerous mister fans. Our server was helpful in describing the food and telling us interesting facts such as the fusion of Japanese and Peruvian cuisines found in Peru. We ordered three dishes to share and lingered over them with cocktails and conversation. I will definitely be back. Definitely recommend the pulpo rostizado, the ceviche nikkei, the maracuya sour, and a dish that was comprised of mashed potato, avocado, and chicken salad (I cant recall the name) all were delicious

We went here two years ago when this place was called llama kid and we really liked it. We came back to try this place again, the food prices went up sooooo much, the amount of food you get is a very small portion compered to before. They give you some kind of old roster nuts when you sit down. The white rice they give you with the roasted chicken is super dry. We also got the ceviche and it s I was disappointed on how much food that was. It was not worth it to me anymore.

I got the risotto de mariscos and it was delicious with large portions though wished it had more of the mussels & clams. The yuca fritas were also so good but the portion was tiny and way too pricy for the amount they serve. Although the portions for the papa bravas were plentiful and tasty. The atmosphere here is really nice with beautiful decors and nice outdoor seating. The staff are sweet and friendly but our server was really slow, tended to other people way more than our table and kept forgetting things that we would ask for. Overall the food here is really good and a bit expensive but worth the $. I will be back to get the risotto again!

Being Peruvian I was super excited to try this place. I love octopus but this was one of the worst. It s almost $30 for EIGHT OUNCES. I expected tentacles for that price but instead I got something that I m not even sure is octopus. One tentacle and one fillet maybe head? It didn t taste anything or look anything like the tentacle which makes me believe it was either squid or another cheaper alternative. As someone who loves seafood, there are much better places for better prices. Go once to try but for the prices and quality, it s not worth going back.

The service here is pretty good. the staff clearly works very hard and was pretty attentive for the most part. The food left a lot to be desired. The vegan substitutions are very weak. They just replace the meat with a tiny portion of mushrooms and broccoli. For more than $20 a plate I expected to leave feeling satiated. The vegan version of the civche classico was incredibly lime forward. It felt like i was sucking on a lime not eating a complex dish. The live music was a nice touch and was at a good volume where you could enjoy without it making it hard to have a conversation. The tables are kind of uncomfortable.

Incredible east side vibes without feeling over-crowded. Service was spectacular: warm, knowledge, engaging. I really wanted to give this place 5 stars for the ambiance and service (both excellent) but the food needs work. It is bland and borderline flavorless, though presentation is lovely. We ordered the ceviche sampler and one was good (the Nikkei) but the other two were highly forgettable and tasted the same. Yucca fries were fried well, but flavorless. The beet salad was ridiculously priced ($16) for what it was: flavorless kale and 4 thin beet slices. The Causa Limeña we ordered was also flavorless and had a long hair in it. The Chicha Morada was good Maracuya was not. On top of all this, the prices are quite high. I would come back for a cocktail MAYBE, but only for the vibes. The food needs work if they want to survive in Austin.

Great experience! Delicious food and the service is excellent. I, unfortunately suffer of some food allergies and our server (I wish I asked his name) went above and beyond to make sure I could enjoy their food without any issues, even realized the snacks they had put on the table were not good for me and ran to tell me to not eat them.. a bit too late but asked me if I was ok and if I needed anything. One who suffers of food allergies are exposed to criticism and mistreatment sometimes.. not here. And if you dont have food allergies, I am sure you will enjoy their whole menu and the drinks are great! Try the llamarguita or magic mule you wont regret it

All in all, a great find here in East Austin. Visiting from Dallas, went on a recommendation from a friend, and definitely not disappointed! We started off with the yuca fritas which were delectable. Fried to perfection, and fluffy on the inside. Next we had the Causa acevichida. A little different, its a Peruvian dish of like a cold potato cake with ceviche, but very delicious. Then we finished with the pulpo which was beautiful and omg perfectly cooked. Normally octopus is chewy, but this one melts in your mouth. Overall a great experience! Please visit this beautiful small business.

Llama Queen, a Peruvian culinary gem, presents an exquisite array of flavors, artfully combining tradition with a modern twist. The star dishes, Aji de Gallina and Lomo served with fettuccini, are a testament to the kitchens mastery, offering a symphony of taste that is both rich and satisfying. Accompanying these delights, the Yucas con Huancaina are a revelation, their crispiness perfectly complemented by a harmonious sauce, creating a memorable taste experience. While the wine selection may not astonish, it serves as a sharp, refreshing backdrop to the meal. However, its the Llamarita that truly captivates, with its sweet yet potent character, proving to be an excellent companion to the meals vibrant flavors.

Went just for my birthday desert and it was horrible. Usually it s so good I drive from buda just for the tres leches. They changed and it and the chef had no pride. It was super old and dense in the middle like the flower separated. I always offer to pay but as a business they should have refused to charge for that rubbish but they swiftly accepted payment and ran off . Sadly I will not return. More so because they could have done more to ensure we had a better experience. I would advise that if you have limited income and want the most value for your time and money to look to more consistent establishments. If you don t mind hit or miss experience, then please do give them a try.

Jennifer was great throughout the meal, explaining the menu and helping us pick the best choices. Theyve upgraded, hence the new name, the outdoor area now has a really nice covering that basically indoors. Most of the tables are sort of a picnic style, not overly comfortable. The menu is great, not overwhelmingly large theyve really focused it on plates that are key staples. Baked chicken, I got the half and it was alot of food, the quarter would have been plenty. The jalea mixta was a big plate as well, really good sized piece of fish and it came with extras like shrimp and calamari. Really enjoyed the papas fritas, and the Frisco.

Delivery food is generally NOT that great - Both times we ve ordered a meal from LK, we ve been truly astonished with the quality, flavor, and overall presentation of our plates. Llama Kid is one of those under hyped East Austin spots that deserves to be celebrated for its authenticity. Our goal is to make it out to their restaurant sometime soon to experience it even more in person!

The restaurant has a very nice patio that I really liked. They have water humidifiers that help to mantain a nice temperature despite the hot weather. The atmosphere had a nice vibe. The service was very good. Our server Diego gave us very good recommendations. However, I think the restaurant falls short on the food. I ordered the ceviche and the chaufa rice. Both were lacking flavor compared to the traditional peruvian recipes I have tried in South America. Although the food didnt meet my expectations, I have to say the dessert was superb. I had the the caramel cake with lucuma ice cream and to be honest I would come back to the restaurant just to eat it again. It is the best dessert I have had in Austin and the reason why I am giving them 4 stars. In a nutshell, awesome dessert but overpriced food.

We came for lunch before they got busy and had great service. The outdoor seating was comfortable with lots of shade and the plants give the patio a cozy tropical vibe. The Pa-Llama drink and Pescado a lo Macho I ordered were fantastic. My husband ordered the Pan Seared Scallop special and we got our son the fried rice (Arroz Chaufa). They both seemed pleased. We all agreed that we would prefer the yucas not cut thick like steak fries, but this is just personal preference. I wish the menu offered a bit more variety, as it seems like you are choosing between a few ways of preparing either fish or chicken. The only other negative would be the plate size to dollar value, however it is on par when compared to many other Austin eateries on the East Side.

Ive tried Llama Kid twice, and the first time they messed up my to-go order, so the second time is my only real review. The food is fine (good, but Im not really excited about it), but so expensive. I had one entree and no drinks for $37 after tax and tip. I really would have expected to pay $25-28 for what I got.

Absolutely wonderful lunch! It was our first time eating there and we got the ceviche sampler, tequeños de queso and the seco de costilla (beef short rib.) All pictures! It was the perfect lunch to share for two and we enjoyed the dappled light in the outdoor seating. I also tried the Piscojito (a mojito with pisco) and it was so tasty that my partner kept stealing sips for himself! Friendly staff and can t wait to go back. Parking: They have a parking lot

We decided to try this place because they had a couple of vegetarian options and some maracuyá drinks. The cocktail drink was just okay and not very flavorful and the juice was from a bottle. We tried the vegetarian ceviche and the Lomo saltado. We assumed there would be some type of meat replacement because these dishes are almost $30 each. We received plates with a small portion of vegetables. Cauliflower, mushrooms and corn. It was well seasoned but grossly overpriced. The fried yucas were very good and the service was great . I wish they would have actual vegetarian/vegan options and not just remove remove the main part of the dish and charge the same. The tres leches dessert was just dry cake covered in too much condensed milk.

I really, really, really want to like this place as I love Peruvian food and the east side needs more variety in cuisine. Ultimately, it was a dealbreaker for me to never be a repeat customer for the following reasons : Prices are way too high and portions are tiny. $28 for Lomo Saltado (one of the cheapest items on menu) which is essentially just chicken, potato, vegetables, and soy sauce is absurd. No dogs on patio (come on guys, you know youre in E Austin right??) Cocktail prices are also high and again, child sized. Pisco sours were delicious but finished mine in 4 sips. Im not a huge eater, but I was still pretty hungry after I left this place and was about ~$100 poorer from it.

3/31/2023 Update - changing to 3 stars from 5 as theyve changed chefs. Conceptually the dishes are the same, but execution has suffered. Sadly Previous review - Dishes are well-balanced, engaging, and unassuming. Everything we tried was delicious. I was skeptical of the cilantro and red onion garnish on the short ribs, but it was a nice twist on a classic dish; fall off the bone with a lovely jus. Skip the yucca, order the potatoes instead. The Nikkei ceviche is a must try. The combination of flavors are what youd expect from a great restaurant. Great crowd for a Wednesday night too.

Be careful with bill and the tips at this restaurant. I was never shown the actual bill... find out, I was charged almost $60 in tips. It seems like there is a lack of honesty on the service at this place. Food was not that good for that price.

Found Llama Kid when looking for a Peruvian restaurant where we could have ceviche. I had been craving a good ceviche after having an amazing one a few weeks ago while on vacation. Llama kid didn t disappoint. Ceviche trio was excellent and so was the catch of the day, which was sword fish. Presentation was nice and patio atmosphere was casual and pleasant.

Great atmosphere and drinks but their food is way too overpriced for what you get. The vegetarian versions are just vegetables. No use of any meat substitutes or creativity. I don t know how they get off charging $24 for vegetarian ceviche that is just veggies in lime juice lol like at least make leche tigre idk.

tl;dr Don t get takeout from here. When first looking at the menu I was like dang this place isn t cheap, but my wife is Peruvian and we like to hit up all the Peruvian food places. I picked up dinner on my way home from the east side and we ate it 20 minutes after I picked it up. For $40 - a whole chicken better be amazing. It was overcooked, dry, missing a wing, didn t come with a sauce, and didn t come with a salad. The rustic potatoes it came with were also the exact same as the side of papas fritas ($11) I ordered. They were under seasoned - but came with a good quantity of them. We also got a ceviche mixto which was $25. It was probably the best part of the meal. We also go the arroz chaufa for $21 and it was also under seasoned. $110 later with tax and tip this place s taste/$ ratio was awful. I really wanted to like it but there s no chance I m going back.

This was much better than I expected. I thought it was simply a food truck and a cold patio table. There s plenty of parking. We arrived without reservations on a Friday night, but were quickly sat for two in their cute tented space. It was such a charming spot with lights and plenty of heat lamps. The service was so warm and genuine from every. single. person. from the hostess, our server and the food runners. They had a dessert with a fruit I ve never heard of called lacuma. It s a vanilla/sweet potato flavor. We had the ice cream and it was really nice like a caramel flavor. We got a ceviche sampler, which was great because my favorite was not the one I wouldn t ordered first. I would definitely come back to try more things.

The Pollo a la parrilla was delicious, seasoned very well and it comes with a small salsa on the side can be a little spicy just be warned. The ceviche mixto was also great but what I loved the most from this place was the 3 leches dessert. So happy I did a little happy food dance at my seat. The service was also great happy staff and friendly. Dietary restrictions: Everything is made on the spot so you can customize your dish. Parking: Lots of parking spots available. Wheelchair accessibility: Easy entry to the patio area.
