2024 review:Incredible food during Austin Restaurant week. We did one tasting menu (watermelon, socca, pork, and the most perfectly light peach dessert) and then ordered a la carte dining experience with the steak, Crudo, squash, and hush puppies. Exceptional experience! 2022 review: Sarah and the team at Lenoir were wonderful and from start to finish, the experience and food was fabulous!

I WISH I could give 5 stars. Really looking forward to take advantage of the 1/2 off a la carte menu that is offered every Thursday evenings. We called around 4:40pm to confirm about this happy hour (it seemed too good to be true!), and were informed that the entire bar was open at that time, but nothing is guaranteed upon our arrival (as expected). We arrived shortly before 5pm and were surprised to be informed that some people were just seated and the bar is currently full. We thought to ourselves wow! How unlucky but proceeded to grab a bottle of wine in the dining area to wait for a bar seat anyway. The biggest disappointment as we sat across the bar was witnessing 2 parties hold off a total of 4 seats right before our eyes as we sat and waited for over 30 minutes. As first time customers, I felt extremely disregarded. I have to say, allowing people to hold off multiple seated was very unmindful based on the fact that the happy hour special occurs on a first come, first serve basis - and we arrived significantly earlier than the other 4 people who had the privilege of having their seats held. For this reason, Lenoir should strongly consider only seating when a FULL party is present, and not permit individuals to literally hoard seats. It is even more disappointing as we had planned our entire week around this dinner and even anticipated the possibility of having to wait given the bar was ACTUALLY full. Just to provide some additional insight, the bar is not big. It includes a total of 10 seats. So the fact that 4 seats were being held by other individuals for such a long period of time while my partner and I had to sit, watch, and wait, simply seemed unfair. This left us with quite a feeling of distain. On the brighter side, once we were seated, we experienced a fantastic meal. The menu at hand was creative and well thought out. We ordered the crab fingers and had to get another - it was so tasty. Our steak was cooked a perfect medium rare with a delicious crust on the edges. I was skeptical about the crudo (blueberry ponzu - very interesting), but it came out fresh, bright, acidic (but not too acidic) and overall well balanced. We couldn t have asked for a better menu - the food is what is preventing me from providing anything lower than 3 stars but if we felt that the first come first serve rule was respected, Lenoir would undoubted score a full 5 stars based on food alone. Unfortunately, we left feeling that our prompt arrival and time was disrespected. I highly advise the crew to take this into serious consideration, and I would caution customers coming in for happy hour to brace themselves for this type of wait if it ever happens again.

Lovely little quaint restaurant on South 1st Street. Everything we had there was amazing. The crudo and the steak were my favorites. Though those blue meza hush puppies were also chefs kiss. Highly recommend! Perfect for date night with amazing food and wine but relaxed atmosphere. Vegetarian options: Squash dish and hush puppies. Probably others.

It is not worth purchasing the 5 course meal. Paid $180 for 2 people to be served what I would say is food for 1 person. I felt like if I went by myself and ordered the same thing. I would get the same amount of food. The food did not taste that extravagant for the price. The chicken was over salted and I did not enjoy the watermelon. When we received our desert. They gave us ONE slice. If I m paying for 2 people. I would expect 2 slices of desert not 1. For $75 per person, quality is low and it is absurd. Came here on a date just for it to be ruined by this restaurant. Do not recommend going here.

We sat inside because it was so hot, but there is a gorgeous patio that I bet would be fun to go to in cooler weather. The inside was also very cute, and our server was attentive with good recommendations. We got the ham and cheese croquettes, cucumbers, crab fingers, hush puppies, and striped bass. Everything was delicious. I will say, all the dishes had a lot of sauce (which I loved), but if you re not a sauce person, it may not be for you.

The taste of the food is ok but everything else is awful. The experience doesn t match the price (~$60 per person) Service A waitress split a bottle of water while serving and hit my arm and split the water all over my purse and body. The waitress apologized but we still feel very bad for the experience. Atmosphere A lot of flies, one of them flew into my wine glass. What s worse, we noticed that we got a lot of mosquito bites after the dinner. Definitely keep this in mind if you book for the outdoor seating. Food quality Some people in our group got stomachache right after the meal. We ordered dishes that contain raw fish, so I suspect the fish might not be fresh. The wine is great but not sure if we ll come back after some bad experience.

I absolutely love Lenoir. The food is warm weather food inspired by climates similar to Austin with a rotating menu. Several mainstays include the house Pullman bread served with the best pimento cheese and chow chow, the blue corn and pecan hush puppies, and the crab fingers. The rest of the menu alternates depending on the season and offers a variety of options for any dietary lifestyle. I dined last night with my vegan friends and they were amazed by the options, calling the current linguine the best food theyd had this year (and they live in New York City, which feels like thats saying something). They also have an expansive wine and wine based cocktail list that has a bottle/glass for any palette. The service is one of the best in the city with a dedication to providing quality guest experience and a fine dining experience at a reasonable price point. The restaurant has two options for dining, either inside in the converted bungalow or outside in the wine garden. Both are unique and different experiences to behold. Perfect for any occasion and would highly recommend for celebrations.

This review has been long overdue. My husband and I were last here for a birthday dinner and had been here for an anniversary dinner before that. Over the years I d say I ve been here a dozen times over the last 2 years mostly as part of a larger party or work group. The service is always great and the atmosphere stellar but the food every time we ve been here was impressive on paper but bland in execution. The food lacks in flavor and is unexpectedly boring to the palate. We ve certainly tried to give it a shot with their changing menus. There s usually one dish that s a standout, two if we re lucky, but most everything else is meh. We also leave hungry! For the price of an experience here, we ve found other places that deliver equally lovely atmosphere and service but that offer more flavorful, exciting menu execution- and more food for the price. We still come for wine and won t turn down a group meet up here. We just understand the expectation and usually will duck out for a tastier, more filling meal elsewhere not to mention parking is always a stress inducer.

We did see much on the interior seating as we were asked to wait out in the outside bar/waiting area. That was fun as they had a chimenea going as well as 2 small fire pits. It was cool that evening so the fire pit was a welcome sight but just as I was warming up, our order came out. Maybe we were there for maybe 20 minutes including parking. Cheesecake was delicious with a different take on the flavors as it was a Basque cheesecake. Get some cheesecake and some coffee and be done for the night!

Came for the chef s tasting on account of it being half off for their anniversary. Waiter asked about allergies and dietary restrictions. I told them I have an allergy to pecans and walnuts, and do not eat pork. The waiter said they couldn t accommodate me because the chefs choice included both in every serving and suggested I look at the a la carte menu. Welp, not much of a chefs menu. In fact this little tidbit tells me that they pre assemble everything which is why they couldn t accommodate me. Meaning they don t cook your food fresh. They don t assemble your food fresh. They make everything en masse and then reheat it and serve it to you. And then charge you an arm and a leg and make you think it s fresh. Fact is they have no interest in accommodating Jews and Muslims. Maybe they hate them. I don t know. I m just supposing. But more than likely.

We had the crab fingers, the shrimp toast and the red snapper. Would go back for the crab fingers alone, but the others were good attractions too. Small wine list but their by the glass selections were outstanding. I was particularly intrigued by the dessert wine list that featured several names I had never heard of. We were pleasantly surprised to try a volcanic Canary Island wine that was a perfect complement to the unusual but splendid cheesecake dessert. Definitely an to go back. Maybe next time try the Wine Garden. Dont be overwhelmed by cost-most of our expense was wine. The appetizers and entrees are reasonably priced for such an upscale menu.

My fiancé and I did a date night here tonight, but the experience fell a bit short. The restaurant is pretty small, but the lights are dimmed low and it has a very romantic feel to it. We ordered the hush puppies, spaghetti, and crab fingers for appetizers and the quail as the main entree. Every single dish came out Luke warm or room temperature (sounds like they need a better heat lamp in the back). The hush puppies felt like they were fried earlier in the day and were then left to sit out. We didn t particular care for the sauce that came with the hush puppies, it seemed to lack flavor. The spaghetti was a weird assortment of flavors, but it didn t seem to come together . The crab fingers were a bit cold, the sauce was the best part. The quail was decent, but the braised greens underneath were over cooked. Giving the devil his due, the honey pie dessert was by far the best part of the entire experience. The deconstruction aspect of the dessert was pretty cool, I d highly recommend coming by here just to eat that. They do have beer/wine on the menu, but no cocktails. The service was prompt, no complaints there. Footnote: I have a disdain for restaurants that tack on employee wellness fees. Basically, the restaurant doesn t include the cost of hiring their staff into the price of the food, but instead includes it as a surprise at the end when you receive your bill. Overall, fairly disappointed in spending $100+ on two people for subpar, chef-driven food. We won t be returning. Kid-friendliness: This is NOT a restaurant to bring children. The atmosphere is date night like, and I m not even sure they have high chairs or booster seats, as the place is pretty small.

The pimiento cheese with the Pullman bread was bland. Cesar salad was good. The mushrooms served with the eggplant were inedibly salty. Whatever crust on the fish wasnt crunchy it was more like stale in texture. Also my father in law tried to get a cup of coffee after the meal and they dont have it. Really? Fine dining, no coffee after a meal? I bet you could get a cup of coffee at fricken Chuys if you want one. Suffice to say there are way better $300 meals in this town. Never going back.

Took my wife and kids here for my wife s birthday expecting a great experience. That is not even close to what we got. Upon showing up the waitress was nice but after ordering it was like we were forgotten about. We ordered three chef selections and two wine pairings. The first course was brought out and after seeing others post I feel we got over charged and under served. The waitress said it was family style and we were given two orders of the crab fingerlings and one order of the hush puppies. There are other posts on here with one person ordering the chefs menu receiving one order of crab fingerings and one order of hush puppies. We received two fingerlings and one hush puppies. On top of the serving being underwhelming the taste was also underwhelming and let s not start with the cheap wine pairing that was provided so late after each dish we had already completed the tasting. Next course We got one bowl serving of the salad was awful by the way and my wife asked if we were three separate strangers would they serve it this way ..?! Felt like the laziness of this show of a chefs selection lacked originality and presentation. After the salad we had the shrimp toast which was surprising done well and tasted good. We were given three half slices and after comparing other photos people with a single serving were given the whole slice for their tasting ????? After the shrimp toast we waited for what seemed like 20-30 minutes for the next dish Qail dry and again underwhelming. Wine pairing lacked any cohesiveness to the pairing. Should have just got up and left before this but I felt we already to committed to his s$&@ show! Asked the waitress to box up the desert as we had spent 2 hours trying to get through this terrible experience. Upon leaving we were presented with two boxed deserts yes two boxed deserts for our three person chefs tasting needless to say enjoy the extra money you charged my for the extra chefs tasting that never showed and the extra gratuity that was added for my large family as I will never be recommending this place nor going back. Save your self the trouble on this one ladies and gentlemen. Waste of money and time.

We had a lovely evening at the wine garden part of this restaurant. We were seated under a beautiful oak tree with lanterns hanging from the tree. There was also a more enclosed part of the outdoor seating and an outdoor bar. If you prefer indoor seating there is a small indoor area with air conditioning inside the main building of the restaurant. Service was excellent, our server was very attentive and well versed on the wine list and food menu. The menu is short and I believe it is constantly changing. However, all the items we had were really delicious and flavorful. I would recommend the crab fingers and the snapper. For dessert we had a Texas peach which was not super sweet but just right. I will definitely be coming back to try out more of the menu and wine list. Parking: Small parking lot, I had an early dinner reservation so it was not an issue. I did see a lot more cars parked there later in the evening.

Next visit we entertained guests from out of town and brought them to Lenoir for the chefs tasting menu experience. Not exactly the cheapest meal, so we had high hopes and I think the whole meal kind of fell flat. Everything we ate was just OK, not a home run. We just returned for our third visit hoping that the second visit was an anomaly, but left saying we probably wont return. Menu items are pricy (smoked carrots with maybe 6 thin carrots in the dish for $16....sheesh, glasses of wine are anywhere between $16 and $25/glass) and the flavor just wasnt there to justify it. There are too many restaurants in Austin that can offer the same or better for us to come back. Side note: I have a pet peeve of restaurants tacking fees on the bill, regardless of what its for. Build it into the price of your food. You cant charge $20 for a glass of wine and expect me to believe your margins are so thin you cant scrape $4 from each bill to cover the cost of your employees medical health. End rant.

We ordered the 5 course meal for $78pp + $63pp wine pairing. We usually go for cheap eats so this was a splurge and it was well worth it By the time we left our bellies were full and we both had a nice buzz This inside is very... cozy. (It wouldve been nice to have a little more elbow room.) The staff were super friendly and helpful. Lastly, the food was amazing! I usually loathe hush puppies, but the ones here are like heavenly pillows of deliciousness!

This review is for Camp Lenoir; we attended the Knife Night. Camp Lenoir is a series of cooking classes run by the staff at Lenoir. Todd ran the night, and spoke for hours on knives, knife care, choosing a knife, how to identify a knife, and whetstone techniques for sharpening. This particular class was primarily lecture. Todd is incredibly knowledgeable about knives, and I thoroughly enjoyed everything he had to say.

Underrated gem in Austin. Never had a bad meal here; chef Duplachen is doing great work on both food and the wine offerings. Most recently went for Saturday HH and had the oysters, blue corn hush puppies, crab fingers, bruleed peaches with hatch chili granita, and the grilled summer squash salad (on the regular dinner menu). Also had the corn churro dessert. Absolutely loved the hush puppies, peaches, and squash. Service at the bar was fantastic. Ambience is perfect for a date night, both the wine garden in nice weather and the indoor area, which has a cute French bistro chic vibe. Vegetarian options: Lots of veggie forward dishes here!

My husband took me here for my birthday! We ordered the snapper collars, compressed watermelon, and crab fingers. Everything was delicious and the wait staff gifted me a birthday card with a wine voucher which I thought was very sweet. The atmosphere was ambient and intimate, ideal for a date night. The reason I m giving 4 stars is because the portions were quite small considering the price. We were still hungry when we left, so I would only recommend this place if you re going for drinks and apps, not a meal (unless you re willing to order a lot of food).

I recently had the pleasure of dining at LENOIR, a new American restaurant that has taken the local culinary scene by storm. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I knew I was in for a memorable experience. LENOIRs inviting ambiance, coupled with their innovative menu, made it clear that this was a dining destination worth exploring. The moment I was seated, I was greeted by a friendly and knowledgeable waitstaff who made me feel right at home. The restaurants sleek and modern decor, with a touch of rustic charm, created an inviting atmosphere that set the stage for what was to come. Now lets talk about the star of the show the food. LENOIR takes pride in its commitment to using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients, and it certainly shows in the dishes they serve. Every bite was a delightful explosion of flavors and textures that showcased the creativity and skill of the chefs. To start, I tried the seared scallops with a citrus glaze. The scallops were perfectly cooked, tender on the inside and caramelized to perfection on the outside. The citrus glaze added a refreshing and tangy note that balanced the dish beautifully. It was a true symphony of flavors. For the main course, I opted for the braised short ribs served with a rich red wine reduction. The meat was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the sauce had a depth of flavor that spoke of hours of slow cooking. The dish was accompanied by a medley of seasonal vegetables that were cooked to perfection, adding freshness and crunch to each bite. To top off the meal, I indulged in LENOIRs decadent dessert selection. The chocolate lava cake with a raspberry coulis was a chocolate lovers dream come true. The cake was moist and rich, and the tanginess of the raspberry coulis provided the perfect balance. It was the perfect ending to an extraordinary dining experience.

We decided to visit Lenoir to celebrate my wifes recent job success, and we had a great time! The wine selection was fantastic, and the vibrant ambiance added more enjoyment to our evening. We tried the stracchino toast, the blue corn + pecan hushpuppies, and the tempting special of the day: fried chicken. The toast and hushpuppies were delicious and had us wanting more even after we finished the serving. However, we were a bit let down by the fried chicken. It was overcooked, and the skin felt a bit burnt. Nevertheless, our overall experience was absolutely wonderful, and were already planning our next visit to Lenoir.

I had an excellent first-time dining experience at Lenoir this past weekend! This restaurant is charming and teeny tiny, (the wine garden which is just a cement patio behind the restaurant has more tables than the actual restaurant) and it is very casual (think mixed matched metal patio tables and some missing pavers) but the service was *excellent*, the staff was knowledgeable and helpful + the food was very unique & tasty. A lot of restaurants in Austin all serve the same items, but I tried some new things at Lenoir. PLUS they have an under-advertised happy hour until 6:30pm where you can get 1/2 priced bottles of wine and discounted cocktails, beers & some discounted apps. I loved the crab claws!! Check out their website for the happy hour menu because they will not print it/bring to the table. I will definitely return.

Additionally, had to reach the very last 2 items to find any protein. And that too at $54 as the first protein option. And tacking on a 3 % wellness fee. Really?? And 2 red wines by the glass for a place that claims to be a wine garden? Imagine going to a beer garden and seeing 2 beers on tap and the rest are just 6 packs you have to buy That said the few veggie options we ordered were really delightfully tasty. Especially that bread. And the hush puppies. And the mousse. But what a let down.

Starting this off with the staff are amazing. They are so kind and accommodating and if this was review was just about them, it d be 5 stars. Now - the review of the restaurant/food/experience. My husband and I were recommended this place as a very nice restaurant to go to if you want to dress up and eat good food .. that is incorrect. It is casual and not giving any sort of luxurious/indulgent vibes. The parking lot is very very small. Maybe has 7 spots total. Definitely Uber there if you plan on going. When we got there, they sat us in a tent outside with a family party of 12+ people and two other groups of 4. It was VERY cramped and loud. Not exactly the dining experience you want when you re going for a nice dinner. The staff again was AMAZING and let us sit at an empty table outside the tent so it would be a little quieter. Then we get to the food . It was meh at best. I was so excited to try the food here because there are so many good reviews but for the price, you can get much better food in Austin. My steak was cooked very well but overall the flavors just fell flat. If you want a casual place to get wine and appetizers with friends, this place is probably great. I wouldn t recommend as a go to dinner date place. Again - thank you to the staff who were angels

My partner and I recently enjoyed the tasting menu at LENOIR. Overall the experience was positive. The atmosphere is quaint and intimate for a date night. The ricotta gnocchi was incredible, very well crafted, delicate dumplings. Rating four starts because the majority of the tasting menu was disappointing. Many of the flavors were uniform across the dishes with a lack of balance in flavor. For example, the sweetness of the sweet potato purée overpowered the incredibly tender and savory beef cheek. Lastly, the Waygu was cut inconsistently which caused a portion of the cut to be over cooked.

We had dinner at Lenoir and found the restaurant decor to be crisp and modern. (We were seated in the main dining room). In addition to the tables, they have nice bar seating that you can reserve. The service was excellent! Our waiter was friendly and had a very calming demeanor. He was able to walk us through the menu, describing each dish in detail, while helping us navigate a diary allergy. He worked with the kitchen to ensure our meal choices were safe. Very comforting. The dishes were tasty, but we felt some -- blistered peppers, crab fingers, and the grilled & chilled summer squash -- were overly dressed with the sauces. The star of the night was the beef wantons! So good that we ordered a second dish. We also enjoyed the pullman bread and honey crisp apple salad. Overall, we enjoyed the experience. The wait staff made us feel very comfortable, but the food was a little underwhelming.

Every person that we dealt with from the moment we walked in to check in for our reservation to the moment we walked out were so friendly, professional and helpful. Our server, Nick, could not have been better. We go out often and we consider this one of our favorite if not our very favorite restaurant in Austin. Four years ago. Everything was scrumptious. Yes it is expensive you get what you pay for. We had an all vegetarian meal and it was one of the best we have ever had in Austin which has great vegetarian choices. The wine selection is excellent and the desserts were great. This service is what you would hope for and expect at a fine restaurant. Good food, but our reservation was cut short for no reason. My best friend and I came here for my birthday, and got the chefs tasting menu. The food was pretty good and definitely seasonal so that was lovely, but the experience was ruined by some pretty strange behavior/lack of hospitality. My friend had made a reservation where they stated we had it from 6:30-8:30. But at around 8pm, our server abruptly asked us to continue the end of our tasting menu dessert/drinks outside because a couple had been waiting for this table for awhile. Not only is it directly opposed to what our text said of having the table until 8:30, but its really odd and makes no sense - we were both so shocked we didnt really ask follow up. Given that the couple next to us had sat down before us, I can only assume there was a different reason we werent told about. We had a coursed menu, so it was not like we were staying longer either. Weve been to plenty of similar tastings around town, and have never had this type of experience. Wanted to love it, but wouldnt come back.

Extremely fun tasting experience and ambiance! Good: Fun tasting menu with extremely good food - I got a table on Resy so it was really easy to get seated. They had a really good 4 course menu and at the end we were stuffed. My favorite course was the pasta one since it was just solid pasta and had a great taste. But really all the dishes were so unique and enjoyed having a watermelon cocktail as well to help keep the palette clean. With 3 people you usually share 2 plates of the food so its pretty worth it! It was also our birthdays so then we got two slices of cake with candles in them at the end and also cute birthday cards with coupons so it just felt really personal of an experience. Bad: There was this misting machine that sprayed us constantly which was great for keeping warm but also immediately blew our our candle which made me sad. Overall was a cute and aesthetic place especially as you witness the transition from sun to sunset and the fire comes on! Would come back and bring my partner.
