I ve been going here for over 22 years. Last time. I ll go looking for a good Mexican restaurant. Service sucks, the manager came running out to patio about my smoking. I was sitting g in a corner with two 4 fans. Screw him. I was going there before any of these people showed up. It used to be great. I ve had every bday party and anniversary dinners there. Now I know there is better. I will find it. Roaches and crickets run the patio. I sat there and watched crickets and roaches attacked people and their food. Very dirty. I stuck by them during the pandemic when food was terrible. I ve had them cater at my house. Wonderful. Management doesn t no the first thing about customer service. All the good servers have moved on to better places. DONT GO

Went here on a school Spirit Night and it was amazing! We were quickly seated and the waitress served us quickly. All the refills got to the table in 5 seconds or less! The food only took about 10 minutes before being served, we ordered chicken tenders and carnitas and it was all perfect. Ordered the flan for dessert at it was a perfect balance of sweetness. If you are looking for a good Mexican restaurant that DOESNT GIVE YOU DIARRHEA come here, the food is immaculate!

We always enjoy going here. Especially when you have a playground here. The view to the playground while sitting outside is great. You are sipping on your drinks while keeping an eye on your kid play. Every parents dream. Starting with the drinks. I love their margaritas. Even their flavoured ones are nice but the house margarita and Mexican martini are the best. We go with standard fajitas or tacos mostly. The meat is succulent and well cooked. The seasoning is delicious. Today we tried the pechuga flemango. That fiery sauce is amazing!! Spicy but not too spicy. The rice plays a good balance to the spice. The avocados were fresh and who doesnt love beans. Chips and salsa are good. I am particular about the salsa, its pretty good. My kids love it too.

I found myself stopping in for lunch on a Monday, what a great choice I made. These guys have been around in Austin since I was a child. The food is still fresh and homemade with great flavor. The charisma and service of my table by Paula ( I hope I spelled that correctly) was caring and had a genuine smile that came with it . The restaurant is lucky to have such an employee. I had a mixed experience at Mesa Rosa Mexican Restaurant. The tortilla soup was delicious and packed with flavor, making it a perfect starter. I also enjoyed their martinis, which were refreshing and well-made. However, the restaurant seemed understaffed during my visit, leading to slower service than I expected. The family and I came to eat here today after church and it was fantastic. My wife had the beef fajita chimichanga, my daughter had a kids burger and fries, and I had the carne guisada. The beef was well cooked and very tender. My guisada was tender and very flavorful. The kids burger huge, and tasted fresh. Upon arriving we were greeted and sat immediately, our server was very kind and extremely helpful. Our daughter noticed a playground attached to the restaurant and wanted to play. Though the outside sitting area was closed, the owner came and told us he would open it for us so she could play.

The outside of this restaurant is was caught our attention. We were so excited to try it out, but we were quickly disappointed. The food was very average. I don t know why but we were expecting authentic fresh made items. The chips were cold not house made, the dip felt like it came from a can. Our service was also painfully slow, so much so we decided not to order meals and go somewhere else. They did have a play place that would be super fun for kids, that would be the only reason to go IMO. We were in from out of town and would not go back. 4 STARS!!!! Great place for Mexican cuisine. Great service, absolutely great food!!! Prices are very reasonable, absolutely on point with the dishes we ordered. Server and all staff make you comfortable and welcome. There are lots of tables, so most of time, no waiting. Kids play area in backyard area, tables for parents to sit and watch from in shade, fans available I believe. Just a outstanding restaurant. All staff friendly and helpful. We went to eat here and they could not accommodate for someone who had a foot injury so part of the family chose to leave. They took forever to bring out the food. They dish I ordered looked like a fried ball. It was supposed to be chicken. The ball was nearly empty. As we were leaving I noticed a roach by the stairs. I was very unhappy!

I have been coming to Mesa Rosa on a weekly basis since 2019 and I can unequivocally state that this is the greatest restaurant in Austin. Nay, the world. You see, Mesa Rosa on the surface is a pretty standard Mexican restaurant where you can feed your entire family for under $50 (before margs). The food quality is consistently good, the service is fast and friendly, and the decor is vibrant. What makes Mesa Rosa the greatest restaurant in the world is its patio and playground. There is a 1.5 acre enclosed playground and open space in the backyard of the restaurant. For me, that means my kids can play on the playground, or play pickup soccer, or get in a big game of tag, and I can watch and drink margaritas from a shaded patio. As a single parent, this is invaluable to my mental health, well-being, and general humanity. Sometimes my friends that are dads will bring their kids and join us and theyll comment, wow Ive never heard of this place, its great. And I tell them that if I was the galactic emperor of the universe, Mesa Rosa would be sacred land. My family and I have had so many special moments and birthdays at Mesa Rosa and I just want to thank the owner and staff for continuing to invest in the restaurant. The new playground shade covers and new outdoor tables are amazing and have made a perfect place even better. Also, this place weirdly has the greatest French fries Ive ever eaten. Done coming here. This used to be one of our favorite places to go to. Over the past year the service has gone down hill. I have been in the service industry for 20 yrs. There is a difference between being busy/understaffed and neglectful/not caring. I could write a novel about our latest experience. Almost walked out on our bill. Honestly, the only we reason we even come here is because of the playground. I find the service to be awful and rude most of the time and the food really isn t great compared to other local Mexican restaurants. Even when there are less people the service is absolutely slow and terrible. It s unfortunate because the patio and playground are really nice for kids. Wait staff doesn t seem to like having kids around the restaurant either. Also, if you want to move tables good luck because the wait staff is super rude about that. We were sat next to a noisy very large birthday party and wanted to switch tables and it was a whole ordeal unnecessarily.

Overall I will return for sure, but there is room for some improvement. The atmosphere is fun, the playground and outdoor area to run around is fantastic, and patio is wonderful. The playground does have some little broken pieces in some areas as another reviewer mentioned, but nothing that bothered the kids or interrupted their play. My 1 and 4 year old had a great time, and overall the food wasnt bad. I ordered the Tacos Del Cabo and my husband ordered the Burrito Al Carbon. He wasnt a huge fan of his but I really liked mine... The chips, salsa, and Rosa Dip queso were all pretty good, and the Margaritas and Mexican Martini were fine, nothing to rave about. Service seemed good at first, and I dont know if they got too busy, but it took a while to come by with the check at the end, which is why I brought the rating down in that category. There is a beer garden area, but the past couple of times I have been there (over the past 2+ years) I have never seen it functioning but maybe its only certain days. Its currently closed with yellow tape around it though so idk. I cant say anything about the inside but it seemed fine when I walked through it. Again, great place to take the family, okay food + drinks with normal pricing (these days anyway). Will be returning.

The mesa rosa restaurant on 620 refused Service after we had already sat because of a service dog at our table, they illegally asked for documentation and told us we had to leave if we would not provide paperwork for the animal. The manager refused to give his name when we asked and refused to give any contact information to a corporate office. Do not eat here unless you want to support a business that discriminates against customers with disabilities. I am very disappointed in the way our situation was handled and will absolutely be reporting this restaurant for violating the Federal Americans with Disabilities Act.

Thoroughly enjoyed this place. Met up with some close friends, ended up playing Frisbee after dinner out back where they have a huge playscape for kiddos and a good-sized lawn for open play. Our food was delish, and the waiter, Alex, was so on point. He mustve brought me 5 refills on my Arnold Palmer drink. I mean, I wouldnt even be finished with the current drink before he was dropping off a brand new one for me transition right over to. Thats what I call attention to detail and attentiveness. My 8-year-old said that was the 2nd best time of her life at a restaurant, which is huge. So, yeah, we will definitely come back to this place. Thanks, Alex!!

Worst restaurant you could go too! I was so exited to go & eat dinner here The food was not good as it seems in the pictures.They over charge you for small cup of queso unbelievable I paid $8.99 for small little cup of queso crazy !! Never again coming to this restaurant from experience save yall time & money .

Dont waste your money here. Flautas were soggy, tortillas are store bought and they charge you .25 cents per disgusting tortilla. I asked waiter if flautas were made with white meat chicken, they answered yes but they are made with dark meat. Playground is falling apart and has multiple unsafe broken pieces. Service wasnt the best either. I have received better service at our favorite Tex Mex restaurant and they are MUCH busier. I wont be back here again nor will I recommend this business to anyone.

We went here at dinner time. It gets pretty busy, but I can see why. The patio is a party! Kids playing on the playground, entertainment, and waiters attending to tables. Fajitas were a bit more room temperature when they arrived without much flavor, but adding the guacamole and salsa made them delicious. Margaritas were strong and large! The atmosphere is definitely top-notch. Loved the Elvis impersonator!

Was not a huge fan of the food but will come back. Ok, so this is one of those restaurants that has OK food but it has a huge outdoor area with places for the kiddos to play so it is great for parents to relax while the kiddos have fun. We had the sampler and was not a fan of anything on the plate really. The queso was ok but I would not order it again. The salsa was awesome and tasted very fresh. I had the burrito, wife a combination plater and the kiddo had tacos. It was all ok. Margaritas were a bit weak, I would try something different or stick to beer. I also felt like it was a bit pricey. The review may sound negative but come here with friends with kids and everyone will have a good time. Your pockets may hurt a little afterwards.

Love the patio with the outdoor playground. It took a long time to get service and it was not very busy, but we werent in a hurry, so it wasnt a problem for us. The food is not great. This is a great place to meet up with friends who have kids and get drinks. Kid-friendliness: Great playground and patio, but the playground doesnt have shade. Its fenced in.

Good: Drinks on the patio so kids can play. Bad: typically slowish, staff seems frazzled Ugly: food. Not good. This is one of the only Tex Mex places I will order soup or a burger. If you have kids and they need to play while you eat go here. If you want to drink and have chips in the sun go here. If you want to be happy with the food you eat go somewhere else.

I got chips and queso to go. A normal size queso. And they charged me $21. Yet online chips and salsa are free with purchase. I purchased queso for $10. They charged me an additional $10 for salsa. The price for 2 meals just for a side snack!!!! Plus queso was cold and salsa was all onion. Do not recommend this place to anyone.

So much fun! First time here. It was my moms birthday. We had a great waiter with a really cool accent and he was very patient with us. I had burrito reyna delicious. The mexican rice was a little weak and I got charro instead of refried, but they were still good. Theres places to take pictures by the sombrero dudes at the front, fountain at the front and a cool outdoor patio space. Kid-friendliness: They have a outdoor play area

They have signs about not tying up tables everywhere, which is ironic because its the slowest service of my life. You cant get food in under an hour. And drink refills? Nothing especially impressive about the food or service. Not bad at all, but not notable. It is very overpriced. But the back deck, with the playplace for the kids and the beer garden area to sit in, are great. The atmosphere alone makes it worth going to. Esoecially when its nice out, its a good place to have a meal with a playground for the kids.

We love Mexican Rosa!! Unfortunately, this last time we received an awful service from the hostess today. If you have a person receiving people at the entrance- her job is to be nice, kind and friendly with the customers. However, the hostess today was rude and unhappy to be doing her job- which is greet and sit people people. We requested her a change on the table- she made this awful face in front of us and she did not mind that we noticed. A hostess is supposed to be some sort of an image on your restaurant. You can t have a rude person at the front that does not even take her time to say hi to their customers.

We were visiting from near Chicago and stumbled upon this restaurant. We loved this atmosphere and our kids loved the playground! What a great addition to bring families in. The food was your typical Mexican restaurant food the margs were yummy and the fajitas were amazing! Service was a bit slow (Sunday evening) but the playground helped the time pass for our kids.

Tucked away but pretty easy to find off the highway. Large seating areas inside and out for small to large parties. Margaritas are good I had the house margarita without the headache. I tried the Rosa enchiladas with chicken and the chicken was very flavorful. Plenty of suiza sauce. A little skimpy on the boracho beans and rice. Overall I enjoyed the meal.
