Our reservation time was cancelled twice so we didnt even get to check this place out. The first time, I got a text that they had cancelled our tour time 30 minutes before our time which meant we were already on our way. Rookie mistake since I didnt receive a confirmation text after making the reservation but I had reserved it 2 days before so I assumed we were good. The kiddos were disappointed, so I made another reservation for later in the day and drove into the city but received yet another cancellation 30 minutes before our slotted time. Next time I will book it a week or two in advance in hopes that it will be confirmed in time. Seems like they just cant do day of reservations even if their systems says those times are available for booking. They should just close off bookings if they cant honor them anyways..

Go here with an open mind and be prepared for some surprises. Extremely unusual, hidden gem. I enjoy the focus on the beauty of the animals, as well as conservation. To all the haters, open your mind a little bit - its all about education. Highly recommend!

Warren Wildlife Gallery is a great little adventure! My grandsons love it. It is a quick outing when you are looking for something to do with kids or visitors. Free but making an appointment is advised. It is full of big and little surprises and is updated occasionally. Since we enjoy it for free we usually buy something from the gift shop as a way to support it financially. Items are reasonably priced. A little gem tucked into an interesting Austin neighborhood.

I am not sure how this place got tax exempt status, but it is just a big game trophy hunters vanity project. How anyone can get their jollies killing these beautiful animals is beyond belief.

I found myself talking to an old elephant bull in my mind s eye this morning, and as I lay awake in bed with a heavy heart, I quietly breathed these words: When people debate hunting big tuskers for trophies, they don t consider how deeply it affects the local communities who you represent. They only see the material value of your tusks, and ignore the spiritual and ecological value you have for the people you ve lived alongside for many centuries. They forget that by harming you, they harm themselves and the delicate natural balance that sustains us all. Humans crave knowledge, wisdom, and a sense of belonging to the intricate web of life. We long for meaningful connections with nature to learn from its timeless rhythms and find calm in its beauty beyond our chaotic lives. Selling a soul whose history is etched into its weathered tusks and thick skin as a trophy seems to signify a turning away from the solutions we need for our own selves and Earth s wellbeing and health. It diminishes the sacred bond that should exist between us and the natural world a bond rooted in respect, admiration, and a deep sense of interconnectedness. Words by Katie Rowe. As the Director of Conservation at The Sarara Foundation, Katie worked alongside the Samburu community in helping to establish Reteti Elephant Sanctuary. Katie is also the mastermind behind our Milk to Market program. - To learn more about what is happening to East Africa s big tuskers and Tanzania s approach to big trophy hunting, follow Save the Elephants, ElephantVoices, Amboseli Trust for Elephants and Big Life Foundation. - The photo is of Ghost, an elephant bull who calls Namunayk, Place of Peace , his home. #endtrophyhunting #elephants #protectelephancts #kenya #namunyakconservancy #communityconservation #tuskers #saveourspecies #saveelephants #namunyak

It has been bought to my attention that not all information I received on the recent killings of the big tuskers in 2024 has been accurate and for that I apologise. I have adjusted my review but have left some comments as a reminder that illegal poaching and canned hunting is still a big thing in Africa and we shouldn t forget that, stick our heads in the sand or look away. On the 1st of March 2024 a healthy big tusker in Tanzania was poached. It s the 3rd one this year and they also burnt the carcass-ivory is the trophy. For more information on this go to @markjdrury If you have any information regarding these recent kills? Please also get in touch with @markjdrury or the gallery in the hopes of finding the CORRECT people responsible! Again I apologise for jumping the gun here on Mark and the gallery!

The way they have it set up.. wow. There is so much to take in. I feel like every time I turned around, there was more to see or there was something else I missed. I took a ton of pictures but they request you don t ruin it for people who haven t been here. It s allot to take in and I feel like I have to come back and do the tour again because of the amount of stuff I missed. Staff was super friendly, this is definitely top tier. Beautifully done.. someone put allot of time into setting this up, i highly recommend getting a appointment and checking them out.

There were things that moved, things that talked, the tablets were fantastic for them to be able to find out information on their own and overall it was just such a great adventure! Be sure to look out for all the hidden gems, and dont be afraid to circle back a few times. We certainly did and found something new each time!

Words fail me. This is an immersive experience unlike any other. Brilliant, all inclusive collection of mammal and bird specimens from all over the world, hidden in a quiet residential area. High points: the lighting; the sounds; the diorama of birds, with over 90 specimens by famed taxidermist Igor Carogodin; the sculptures; the way each animal is staged- they arent just standing there, they are in the middle of eating, being eaten, or running. This should be required viewing for every high school or college biology or environmental science class. Oh, and every set designer should visit too! One of the high points of our visit to Austin!

Wonderful fun for the whole family! I didnt really know what to expect of this gallery. Id only heard about it by a random website. Since its Im my neighborhood, I thought wed give it a try. My kids loved it! You start in Africa and upstairs is South America. The detail in the animal displays are incredible! Its a self guided tour and the kiosks provide all the information youd need to know about the animals in the display in front of you. Only small groups of less than 10 allowed and appointments must be made in advance.
