This restaurant deserves all the stars, very well deserved! From when we arrived, we were grated warmly and directed to your table which was facing the kitchen where we could see all the magic happen. Our server (wish I could remember her name!) started us off with water and gave us a moment to look through the menu- most people hover at this point. Our server then walked us through the menu and answered all the questions we had about the food choices and surprisingly, the food came out really quickly. All the options we chose were very good and no one had a complaint. The best part for me was when I was handed a card for my birthday signed by the team. That was so sweet of them and I really appreciated the gesture!

Food was great. Our server, however, made an unscrupulous attempt at upselling that almost resulted in us ordering $150 more worth of food than we needed. Thankfully we caught it at the last second, but I can t honestly say that I ve ever had such an unethical interaction with a server before. Truly bizarre and disappointing from what was otherwise a nice experience

The last adventure in Austin was to ATX Cocina. ATX is a modern Mexican fare including seafood & mezcal & tequila cocktails anchor this upscale eatery. We started with Tamal. This was served with acorn squash masa, seared calabacita, cilantro yogurt, farm greens and salsa macha. The masa had a sweetness and was exceptionally light, while the vegetables were tender with a crunch. The crema was flavorful, bright, and fresh and added a needed cooling note. The heat level of the dish was right up to the edge of being too spicy but did not go over. Next, we tried Sopes. This dish had cochinita pibil, smoked beans, xni-pec, and salsa verde. The meat was dry and overcooked but offered good flavor. The smoked bean flavor comes through and builds the saltiness. The jalapeno and pickled onion provided a much-needed vinegar punch. The fried masa had a great crunch. The salsa verde gave the bite a citrus punch. We decided to try the Queso Fundido. This dish had brisket, queso mixto, rajas, and pickled chili. The blue corn tortillas were fresh and full of great flavor. The brisket was juicy, tender, and full of flavor. The cheese melted wonderfully, giving good stretch and chew to the dish, while the pickled chilies and onions offered texture and a crunch. The sauce, possibly tomatillo, with the juice from the brisket adds the needed moisture and another level of flavor to the bite. My one knock is that the dish was very salty. My wife and I split the Crab Relleno as our entrée. It was made with smoked honey cornbread stuffed Anaheim, jumbo lump blue crab, charred tomatillo sugo, and tamarind. My wife said it best. Everything is light and delicate yet intense at the same time. The butter-poached crab had just enough flavor to stand out with a light sweetness. The honey cornbread gave the dish texture and a punch in the mouth of sweetness. The pepper was tender but had a crunch, good chew and taste. The charred tomatillo was smokey, acidic, and slightly bitter to offset the sweetness. The tamarind was tangy and tart. ATX Cocina serves beer and wine and has a full bar. The wait staff was pleasant and knowledgeable about their menu. ATX offers indoor and outdoor seating. The Fat Man says that ATX Cocina is Fat Man Approved with 2 chins.

Great location and vibe. Fully gluten free menu, and the food and service were consistently terrific during my multiple visits. Mixed feelings about the staff working at the host stand at the entrance - the employees there were much less friendly than other employees, which didn t give a very welcoming first impression. But the rest of the experience made up for it. Reservations are needed for a weekend dinner. They also offer a worthwhile happy hour that s even available on weekends. Dietary restrictions: Everything is gluten free and delicious, and staff is very knowledgeable about how the food is prepared.

Chairs at the bar are very comfortable. Atmosphere is clean and minimal. I liked the feel of the place and the service was attentive. Everything was fairly delicious. HH prices are $9 for drinks and food and the portions are just enough. It s totally overpriced for what you re getting compared to authentic Mexican food but it s Austin and they can get away with it.

One of the best meals for Modern Mexican or an abuela would make if were so lucky to have one back in San Miguel de Allende or Cabo. Order 3 of everything in each section of the menu and you won t be disappointed. The short ribs, whole fish, classic Cesar greens, hamachi, pulpo are all to die for. Trendy and attractive crowd. Nice bar scene. No seat is a bad seat. Not too loud where you can t have a nice conversation. And yeah, don t forget about the brussel sprouts.

We have been in Austin as 1st timers for the past 5 days. This is not only (easily) the best meal Ive had in this city, but the best overall meal Ive had in recent memory. From start to finish it was delicious - we always get a little anxious that a delicious app cannot be topped, but it was. Twice. We had the octopus and shrimp ceviche to start, a large amount perfect to share! Then the masa stuffed with poblano ricotta with a mole on top. Wow it was so rich and a super unique flavor combo! Then we had the blue crab for our entree. The sweetness of the crab was to die for. Our waitress was also incredible and guided us through the menu with awesome knowledge of ingredients. She even picked out a dessert for us, and it ended up being left off the final ticket! She made the experience a 5 star one to go along with the food, for sure. She said her name is at the top of the list of servers on the back of the menu, which brings me to my next point: EVERYONE is listed for their contributions on the menu, including the dishwashers. I think that is an amazing shout-out and have never seen that amount of care or appreciation for staff anywhere else. To sum it up: prior to this meal we had no reason to return to Austin. Now we do!

ATX Cocina has become an Austin treasure! From the moment you step in, the modern and vibrant ambiance sets the stage for an incredible dining experience. As someone who requires gluten-free options, I was thrilled to find out that the entire menu is gluten-free, making it an ideal spot for anyone with dietary restrictions. The menu is nothing short of spectacular. Dont miss out on the guac, the sopes, the short rib and el jefe. All of them are absolutely to die for. Every meal Ive had at ATX Cocina has been phenomenal. But what truly stole the show were the margaritas. ATX Cocina offers some of the best margaritas in town, made with freshly squeezed juices and top-notch tequilas. The Classic Margarita was perfectly balanced and went down WAY too quickly, while the Spicy Margarita added just the right amount of kick. Every dish reflects the restaurants commitment to quality ingredients and innovative cooking techniques. Whether youre looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion or enjoy a night out, ATX Cocina is the place to be. The only downside is the ambient noise; if youre with someone who has difficulty hearing in crowds, I recommend eating on the patio. Even so, dont miss out on this exceptional dining experience!

Are we being serious? You can go all night just eating those and nothing else. The balance of sweet and savory makes it worth sitting there all evening. 3. Short rib - game over! ATX is one of my top 3 favorite restaurants. The staff, food, drinks, setting, etc are always impeccable. I have had a great experience every time, and nothing disappoints. I look forward to going to this restaurant. The new Crab Relleno is one of the best foods I ve ever eaten; and I get the sopes every time. Highly recommend! Dietary restrictions: GF heaven

Is this a 4 or a 5 star? Well I guess it s a 5 because I had no complaints AND the food was bangin. Carne Asada + Elote, both done beautifully. Hats off the the Chef and the incredibly well educated staff, our waiter damn near gave us the recipe level detail while describing different dishes and making recommendations. Hard 5 from me

Pretty creative assortment of dishes on the menu here. The intended ordering style is to get a couple plates for the whole table to share, and I think that works well for getting to try more types of food. The salmon was my favorite - buttery soft inside with a crispy outside layer. All the accompaniments pair well too, especially the mezcal peaches. I end up getting brussel sprouts at almost every restaurant I go to now, but this one was special as it s layered with some chorizo at the bottom. A couple dishes had a kick to them (thanks to the chiles) so be careful if you re sensitive to spice as there s no menu indication.

My partner and I visited ATX Cocina on our trip to Austin for a weekend getaway. We are use to great food in Los Angeles and had no expectations before visiting we also had no idea what to expect. First off our server Taylor set the bar SO high for other servers. She was a complete delight. She has worked at the restaurant for 5-6 years, was patient with us, listened so well, and educated us completely about both food and drinks. We found our favorite margs, and the best sides/apps, and completed our evening without even tapping into the entrees. The portions of the sides were unreal (highly recommend the creamy corn and Brussels). Chips and salsa were killer (not on the menu), and we also ordered the Sopes (hard to describe but unbelievably flavorful pork/bean stuffed taco shells), and the Machete (chicken stuffed quesadilla). Also highly recommend the ATX marg, and the house marg spicy and skinny. 10/10 experience. 10/10 food. And man 11/10 service. Round of applause for Taylor!!!

Love ATX Cocina! The interior design is to die for: there are various seating groupings and partial partitions breaking up the dining room into smaller, more intimate seating areas. The food is always consistent and absolutely delicious. The Kale Ceasar is the BEST Ceasar salad in Austin as is the Guacamole. The fish is always fresh and prepared just right. The cocktails are fantastic: never too sweet nor too sour. We always bring out of town guests to ATX Cocina. The service is always the best from bartenders to servers and of course the GM. We will definitely be coming back for more. As promised, we came back for more. Food and drinks: Amazing quality and taste. Portions are large. Noteworthy details: Beautiful interior design with various seating groupings. Wheelchair accessibility: ADA accessible facility.

ATX Cocina is a total vibe! We dined here on a Saturday evening and it was a lively atmosphere. The architecture of the ceiling is phenomenal and the decor is very complimentary. We received excellent and attentive service from Daniella. Throughout the night, we consumed several margarita de la casas and del maguey chichicapas that were all fire! For a party of 4, we shared the guacamole, hamachi, oysters, caesar salad, el rey, cod, camote, brussels sprouts, horchata helado, and triple chocolate. The meal was incredible and the only disappointing part was the lack of tres leches. With the creativity of the dishes we consumed, I will bet that if they ever introduced tres leches, it would probably be amazing.

Outstanding spot in Austin! We were a group of 10 and booked the day of, so we had to eat outside, but it was still ok given the huge fans they have to cool off the patio. Inside it seems like there is a really cool vibe. The food was excellent and so were the drinks. Next time I m back in Austin, I will definitely plan to visit again, but will book sooner so we can get a table inside. Edit: The next time I was in Austin, I stopped in Austin again but this time I was alone and ate at the bar. Outstanding again! My favorite spot in Austin.

Amanda was consistently attentive and available whenever we needed assistance. Ill definitely be requesting her on our next visit.) The dining experience was truly exceptional, with each dish exceeding our expectations. The octopus, crab, and even the Caesar salad were nothing short of fantastic. The service provided by Bridgett added to the overall enjoyment of our meal truly amazing. A big shoutout to Bridgett! Yum yum indeed.

So Ill start with the positives first. The telela was fire. If youve got eggplant enjoyers, then definitely get that. Theyre like Mexican samosas. The big glory bay salmon was good exactly medium rare as advertised and was fairly complete overall. The crispy leaks were primo. You get 7 corn tortillas, both regular and blue corn variants with your entree. But yeah, thats where the components end. So the chips and guac were alright but honestly the guac was so uninspired. The chips themselves were fine. But Ive had much better guac at like cheaper establishments. The salmon was season lightly, which would not have been an issue if the server came back soon enough for me to ask for some salt. The tabblouleh definitely needed a bit more acid or salt. Now for the worst thing on the menu, the taquitos de atún. 1. We were expecting them to be a bit bigger. They literally add the rocks to the presentation so you might not realize how little you get. If you combine every taquitos together, you might have 1.5 tacos, if Im being generous. They also arent consistent with how they make it. If you look at my picture 4 come without the spice mix on top and one did. Thats because that one was dropped and they needed to bring a new one. So its either something the servers do and they readily forget, or its something the cooks do and they easily forget. I got a stomachache from them and my date got light-headed. Oh yeah, outdoor setting is heated but the heater is really loud. The insane is pretty loud too, so not as atmospheric as youd hope. Booking was pretty easy tho so W for that. But the inexperience of the service here palpable and inexcusable considering the price point.

Wow! I came here in August for a work trip to Austin and sat at the bar as I was by myself and was amazed by the food and service. I came back in January with my partner and we were even blown away with the service. It was a spontaneous trip for my birthday get away from NY. Dani was our server and she was 10/10 and even accommodating me on a dish that I wanted but they sold out. The whole fish was sold out and she spoke to chef and offered to use cod as a base instead with the same recipe. I was craving this dish from NY and ever since I left in August. She even got me a birthday card that was signed by all the staff. I truly felt loved and special on my birthday getaway and I am already looking forward to coming back here next time I visit Austin

Service by Fernando was great Outstanding dishes: Queso fundido Brussels sprouts Mediocre dishes: Guacamole - was too salty and overpriced for what it was. The chips didnt stand out to me. This dish hit the spot for my pregnant wife though! Short rib - was not fatty/salty compared to what I was expecting. I saw pictures of the old short rib (bone-in) and was expecting that. There wasnt much flavor in the beef but the mushrooms seemed over-flavored (super sour and sweet), especially compared to the beef. Whole fish - even though semi-deboned is very helpful, I ran into too many bones. Next time I would just order the salmon or another filetd fish. The sauce was good and unique but it didnt work so well with the fish, IMO. Esquites - wasnt salty or flavorful enough, just seemed like slightly flavored corn and again, overpriced I want to come back for the brussels and to try other dishes next time. Ill update my review after the next visit!

As we were seated, our server John was already informed and helped us pick from the menu a fantastic selection that would be ready in time for us to be out the door. John was also super attentive throughout the meal, making sure our plates were cleared and that all the food made it to our table.
