Had a work lunch here and we all shared the Meatballs Al Sugo as well as the Squash Zucchini Chips and they were both delicious and plenty of food for a big group. I had the Gnocchi Di Patate Rustici - gnocchi with braised short rib ragu and shaved parmesan and it was soooooo good. Absolutely delicious. Kid-friendliness: Probably not some place I d take my little kids but older kids would appreciate the menu and the setting. Wheelchair accessibility: Very wheelchair friendly.

After a business conference at Austin City Limits across the street, Taverna was a nice place to sit at the elegant bar and have good linguini with clam sauce (if a bit too salty for my taste) and an excellent white wine recommended by the bartender. Also nice dining room and tables on outdoor patio.

After a day of shopping in Downtown Austin, we stopped in for an early dinner, and despite the great food, and great cocktails, Soner our server, stole the show! He was AMAZING! I highly recommend requesting Soner if stopping in. He will take your experience at Taverna to the next level with his quick wit and personable service.

Was looking for an impromptu brunch spot with my mom and sister and stumbled across this place. SUPERB!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Our server, Soner, was friendly, funny, and fast. He engaged in conversation with us just enough - not pushy or rushed at all. The food was excellent. Great variety of flavors (we each ordered something different so we could try the most). The atmosphere was bright with plenty of space between tables. Its casual enough that you can dress up or down. We came casual but saw plenty of groups dressed up & celebrating. Oh, and the staff does a cute light show with birthday shots. Parking: We learned after the fact but theyll validate parking for up to 2 hours!

Taverna, the downtown Austin location, had great food and wine! We went for a birthday celebration and went specifically for the Cacio e Pepe. We started with the Frittura Mista Di Mare (calamari, shrimps, vegetables, spicy tomato aioli, tartar sauce, lemon), then the Cacio which is prepared tableside in a Parmesan wheel, and had to finish with dessert. It was a great evening!!

My wife and I have been dining at Taverna on 2nd Street for 20+ years. It never disappoints...mostly delights. Last night we were there for the muscles and Parmesan fries, followed by Cacho de Pepe, prepared tableside and some awesome meatballs. Wait staff normally very good, but, last night, Charles was exceptional. So if youre visiting here soon, ask for Charles. Only gave the Atmosphere 4-stars. Havent been crazy about the new paint job, but its growing on me.

Beautiful atmosphere ! The waitress was amazing patient kind wonderful ! The person at the front didn t know much about the menu . Luckily my waitress did . I asked for a meal with red sauce . I was recommended the bolognese. I usually think that with multiple meats there would be a rich flavor . The meal was super bland and unsatisfying . I asked for red pepper before the meal came out and poured in on after . Waitress asked about the meal I was honest said it was ok. Super accommodating . Gave me some salt which gave like another star and then eventually gave me some cherry tomatoes . I felt bad that it came to that. What the meal needed ? Flavor - the taste of garlic the taste of all those veggies . The wine All the meats tasted like generic meat (very one dimensional) I will go back and order something else ! This place is too beautiful picturesque and has a good wait staff that I experienced today. That kind of service can have me back I hope the menu can have more to give .

This was my favorite restaurant. I made a reservation for my birthday. We came at 8pm. My husband and best friend went to the table while I went to use the restroom. I never ran into a server or manager. Just walked back to my table. That day was my 48th birthday celebration and we had gone indoor skydiving. Then went to my condo to get ready for dinner. We each had one glass of wine while getting ready. Upon getting back to the table I said hello to our server and asked that my husband choose a wine. At this point he told me his manager heard me slurring and so did he. And that he could not serve me. I was so confused. I was not intoxicated at all! I thought maybe it was my new invisilign trays that made someone think I was slurring? I asked to see the manager that heard me slurring and she came to the table. I had never seen her. Her name was Samantha. The server said his name was Ryan. Because I was sober, I tried to reason that maybe they had maybe mistaken me for someone else or misunderstood my speech with my new mouth pieces. I cant stress how humiliating that was. I was mortified. I even went so far to let them know I lived close and we took a Lyft. Even though I was not drunk or acting drunk. I have no other words. Just humiliated. We walked to another nice restaurant that did not think I was at all intoxicated and had a lovely dinner there. I was reminded my my friends that I should mention that I suffer from a stutter. At the time I did not mention because I was acting like a proper lady and thought my explanation of my mouth pieces were enough.

Our recent experience at this restaurant was a complete disaster. Despite making a reservation and arriving on time, we were left waiting for over an hour for our food. The excuses ranged from kitchen problems to forgetting our order altogether, leaving us frustrated and hungry. The lack of transparency and consistency in communication from the staff was appalling. Each time we asked about our food, we received a different excuse, with no clear explanation for the delay. It was incredibly unprofessional and left us feeling neglected. When the manager finally approached us, their apology fell short of making up for the inconvenience. Offering free dessert and covering the appetizers was a token gesture that did little to address the fact that we had missed our dinner opportunity. With dietary restrictions to consider, this was simply unacceptable. To make matters worse, the server seemed clueless about the menu, initially claiming they didn t have dishes that were listed. It wasn t until later that they discovered the menu had changed, adding insult to injury. Overall, our experience at this restaurant was a letdown. The poor service, lack of communication, and failure to deliver on basic expectations have ensured that we will never return. Save yourself the disappointment and dine elsewhere.

Our cocktails and sparkling water took 20 min. to get to the table. The waiter said the bar person had cut their finger Then the kitchen lost our ticket. We waited around for our lunch while tables who were seated after we had the appetizer were getting served their lunch and finished it. The waiter finally came to tell us there had been a problem and offered one free dessert. I had made reservations for my husband s birthday. The ticket said it was the birthday dessert. Whatever. We took it in stride and the waiter was friendly. But it was really not acceptable to pay over $100 for a lunch, and have our food take an hour to come out. We ll probably not visit again.

Worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant by a LONG STRETCH. we had a big table so we were not allowed to split the check. I ended up taking the check, gratuity already included for large party. Well our waitress literally chased me out of the restaurant SCREAMING in front of people because I signed the customer copy instead of merchant...not that big of a deal it happened all the time where i used to work, the only thing that matters is a signature which i had. she reprinted the receipt for me to sign, where i left gratuity blank because i was told previously it was already included. the reprint was not itemized, and in a VERY nasty tone she said um excuse me but you cant leave without tipping, and another girl comes up yeah you need to put 20% LOL since when does a server tell you how much you owe them on a tip first off? SECOND, I FOUND OUT LATER THAT GRATUITY REALLY WAS INCLUDED AND SHE JUST ASKED ME TO ADD A TIP AGAIN SO SHE LIED. with the size of my tab, that was $150 extra that i tipped because i was lied to by not one but TWO of your employees. Disgusting. tab with my double tip was $550 total. Dont ever give this place your business the food isnt great anyways and drinks are overpriced for subpar quality, and even worse service. i will spread and post this everywhere

My husband had a severe reaction to the shrimp risotto. He has a dairy intolerance and the menu did not specify that the dish contained dairy. While we understand that most risottos can contain some cheese and butter (which he can tolerate), we were unaware that the sauce for this dish included double cream. I wish our server would have asked us for dietary restrictions and flagged that the risotto was cream based. When I expressed this to the manager, she did not seem to be receptive to our feedback. Great food, but would be cautious if you have dietary restrictions.

The food, the service, and the atmosphere were all perfect. A special shout-out to our servers Megan and Taylor. I don t know how you kept track of everything - especially with people mingling and changing seats! Thank you for making it look easy. I ll definitely call you again the next time I m in town for a conference!

I hadn t been to Taverna since 2019. Looks like the bar is larger and the whole place had a refresh. This is still the place for awesome people watching. I don t recall Taverna having a DJ, however this was my first brunch experience. Previously had only dined at supper time. The DJ made it hard to hear my dining companions. Service wasn t what I recall either. Getting the attention of our server was next to impossible. Even saw them standing talking to the hostess and other waitstaff by the bar, signaling to him was a lost cause. The meal was absolutely awesome. My friends shared a carafe of Mimosas . We shared the Focaccia. Two of us had the chicken and waffles (after we saw it delivered to a table nearby) and the other had the eggs benedict. Everything came out hot, well seasoned and amazingly presented. While the vibe, service and interior have changed, the one thing that remains is the absolutely amazing food. I will be back. Food this good always deserves a repeat visit.

We popped in for a quick bite after a show at ACL Live. The kitchen was open on a Friday night until 10:30 which was great news. The drinks were good, but the food was a bit of a let down. The short rib gnocchi was much more oily than anticipated. This could be due to it being close to closing hours, but I was severely underwhelmed.

The most HORRIBLE experience of my life I was so excited to try taverna for the first time the food looked great. Upon arrival we ordered a pitcher of mimosa for our group and 2 expresó martinis well the champagne was flat and we kindly asked our waiter to change our pitcher for a new one she seemed pretty annoyed we have asked for that she comes back and just dumps the bottle in the middle of the table and left our champagne bottle was warm and with no orange juice ! By then we were upset at the way she handle the situation so we kindly asked the host if they can provide us with a different server 30 min passed the same server came by asked if we needed anything else still haven t gotten our martinis and we had warm champagne bottle in the middle of our table we told her we asked for a different server she responds OK. Finally we get a different server you would think having a bad experience with previous waiter will finally get someone who has customer service experience well that was a big NO the new waiter was as rude as the past at this point we want to cancel our order and get up and leave! The waiter has the audacity of asking us to pay $12 for the mimosa we haven t even touched !!! We asked to talk to the manager so she can be aware of the situation she came to us non apologetic what so ever she just said no worries I ll cancel your order and walked away We were shocked how can a manager simply don t care of the way her employees treated us PLEASEEE NEVER COME TO TAVERNA located in 2sd !!

Taverna downtown has been one of my favorite places to go for years now and I enjoy every time I m in the building. The service is amazing and the management is impeccable! Cole, our server, went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time and the whole staff made me feel very special on my birthday. Unfortunately today there were some clients who were being unreasonable at the host stand. They were screaming at the hostess and, upon getting more information, we found out they were being very unreasonable. They were provided with multiple options for places to sit and they were unhappy with them all. They started to yell at the hostess which was terrible because she was doing the best she could to help them. They wanted to unfortunately cause a scene and then they walked out. Other than that, everything was stellar!

I visited this restaurant on a work trip in March of this year. The food was incredible, however the service was just okay. It was a little expensive as I ordered the surf and turf, the antipasto and an extra couple of shrimp and it was 110. For the four of us total. It was just about $400 before tip. I would say that the food again, was incredible. If you can spend the time, I would definitely recommend eating here. My rating system consists of a 3-star being exactly what I expected and neither good nor bad. A 4 means something was extra special whether it was service, food, staff, etc., and a 5 means I was blown away. A 2 star rating was disappointing with no offer to correct the experience and a 1-star rating was terrible

On a positive note, the space is really cute and the pizza was delicious! We got the salimino pizza and it was great and reasonably priced for the size ($18). The caprese salad with burrata was also really good (maybe a bit overpriced at $19) but delicious. Note to the owners... you really should take the focaccia off the menu. It in no way resembles focaccia and is just a round, very dry pizza. Or, introduce real focaccia. I would recommend going here for the pizza, salad and ambiance but stay away from the focaccia!

I asked him if he wanted me to speak up.. this guy gets an attitude and tells us he is going to give us a few seconds to cool off. As a server, I understand the stress of larger parties and I understand that as a customer, it is important to be patient. Me and my friends had a reservation for 10 which turned into 12 and not everyone showed up at the same time so I understand it being a bit unorganized however, our server was unprofessional and my experience at this restaurant was such a let down. Once everyone had been seated, the waiter took our orders at different times even though people would be ready to order and he would just take a couple orders and walk away. He was nowhere to be found most of the time so naturally, some people tried to go to the bar to order drinks. Our server raised his voice and said drinks needed to be ordered through him so everyone understood and sat back down but when they wanted to order drinks, he vanished. He also said we could not split the check unless WE wrote down everything we ordered for him to split the checks (in my opinion, this is due to his own disorganization). In addition to the service being disappointing, the food may have been the most unpleasant meal I have had in a very long time. I ordered the lobster eggs benedict which sounded incredible. When our food finally came out, my food was room temperature and the lobster was SO GROSS. There was hardly any hollandaise sauce on it and they charged me an extra $12 for gluten free bread which is just insane. For a $30 eggs benedict, I had very high expectations and I could not even stomach it after a few bites. The drinks were good thank god. Our water glasses also did not get filled a single time after being seated. Lastly, the restaurant is super cute and nice looking but they play club music (literally No Hands by Waka Flakka) which is just strange but not a big deal. Overall, this restaurant was just such a disappointment. 3 hours sitting at a table and I would say 1 1/2 of those hours were spent trying to get the waiter to do his job. Working in the service industry has made me have a lot of respect for all members of restaurant staff however, I genuinely do not think I have ever had such a terrible experience at a restaurant and had automatic gratuity (which I m not complaining) of 20% although I don t believe it was earned at all. Dietary restrictions: They had a lot of options for dietary restrictions however, expect to pay your yearly salary for those choices.

We came in with a large group for lunch on Saturday. Our table was ready when we arrived and we were seated right away. We waited around for a bit to order drinks and once we did we weren t able to put our food in for about 30 minutes. Many of us had to walk to the bar ourselves to order drinks to make things move quicker. A couple people ordered a mimosa carafe that was half empty when it arrived. Our server did not take our food orders all at once leaving some people waiting around for someone to put their food in. After that we did not see our server for another 30-45 minutes while we all waited for our food. Our food was cold, and extremely average for the price and the atmosphere of the restaurant. Once it was time to pay the bill we waited around for an absurd amount of time for any check. Our server had us write down what we had to eat, clearly he had forgotten who had what or what was even ordered at all. We then had to wait even longer for him to grab this piece of paper and start dividing checks. In fact a member of our group had to stand up and bring it to him because he was not focused to see that we were all ready to pay. Everything took way too long. We ended up being at the restaurant for 2.5 hours. I do not like dissing service industry members but this was ridiculous and I have never experienced such horrible customer service. Just a note, this restaurant plays very loud club music which doesn t really fit the vibe of an Italian brunch/lunch spot. The whole experience was extremely unprofessional and disorganized.

We only do brunch outside on the patio here and honestly, after this last experience, we probably wont even be back to the patio. Its entirely too loud to enjoy a meal inside. At one point when I was inside using the bathroom, they were blasting a clubby version of Baby Shark? No one wants to here that while trying to sip a mimosa (not that the mimosas are anything to write home about. I get that $3 is incredibly cheap, but honestly I would rather pay more for a mimosa that isnt half water). We were waiting a long time for our food. We asked the waiter when we should expect it after waiting a half hour. About 10 minutes later the sides of bacon came out alone, and ice cold. We asked to get the bacon warmed up. When our entrees finally came out they were also ice cold. Literally, colder than room temperature. All of our poached eggs felt like they had come out of the fridge. A friend was given the wrong omelet twice before the third finally came out correct. Great location, but location alone doesnt fill my empty stomach.

The entire experience was disappointing. I ordered the Wagyu burger and immediately noticed that it had mold on it. I notified the waiter and he was very dismissive. In these situations, a manager is usually notified and immediately apologizes to the patron. That did not happen in this instance. Additionally, our waiter, Jake ignored our table while happily serving the other three tables in his section. He abruptly brought us our checks part way through the dining experience without even asking if we were ready. It was clear that he wanted us to leave. As we were leaving, we tried speaking to the manager and he dismissed all of our concerns. I know that service staff have really difficult jobs and it takes a lot to serve multiple tables concurrently during hectic brunch hours. Because of that, I am quite understanding towards any waiter or waitress who is servicing my table, but in this instance Jake and his managers behavior towards my friends and I was inexcusable.

The Taverna Restaurant is beautiful. We were seated immediately. We sat by the window. Our waiter was attentive, bringing drinks right away. We took our time ordering because everything on the menu looked delicious. Our waiter was happy to come back later, giving us more time to look over the menu. After another family member joined us, we made our food choices, each trying something new. And each trying the others food! (Of course, I took pictures first) We will definitely go back. They decided to compensate us by giving us a glass of champagne but that doesnt make up for the time wasted with my guests. The service was subpar and the waiters had no clue about any of the food questions we had. This place is so so so noisy it reminded me of a fish market.
