This place is an American version of Cuban food is. The pan con bistec was not a true Cuban sandwiches, missing some crush chips in the sandwich and the steak was not traditional, the service is ok , she came to us once and then when the food was ready. The food was delicious for what it is but it s not Cuban 100% ( sorry I m from Miami ) the atmosphere is nice. And the seafood was very overpriced, I rather go to Tropicana Restaurant in Austin for seafood.

Heads up, if you park in their parking lot there is a chance you will receive a $100 ticket by an AI company they use. My daughter and I both parked in the designated parking and we both received a ticket for our cars in the mail. I will never go there again, cant afford to park. Bad customer experience.

He was a phenomenal and attentive server, gave great food and drink recs, and had an incredibly positive energy (: He also gave us some coupons for our next visit, and we will definitely be back! Food was YUM! And I cannot recommend the frojito enough. Great place to have a nice meal. Thank you Gino!

Too expensive for what you get :/ 3/5 empanada - i got the beef. Good size but too expensive for just one. Decent exterior fry (on the lighter side) 3/5 sandwich bistek - cant comprehend that this sandwich is $24 definitely a rip off for the quality. I got it bc it was recommended. Bistek is tough, sandwich is basic :/

Went to this place expecting a casual dinner no problem but tbh the food here is priced as high as a very high end restaurant as much as Red Ash or Guest House but the food doesn t meet the prices it s very very average almost like chain restaurant quality or lower. Food taste right out the can of a line kitchen. We spent $150 on 2 people that s crazy if I were to go to a fine dining establishment and order for 2 ppl the bill would not have been this high. Tbh save your money go to a really really good restaurant like ember kitchen, red ash, intero, odd duck and you will pay just as much for 100000x better food. Tbh don t even go here. Drinks looked good but every single thing was alcohol forward and mojitos were flat

I visited this place a few years ago and had a bad experience and now Im back and it was worse. I do not recommend this place and I have no hope that they will improve either. Dirty, old food, dirty bathrooms, expensive because the quality of the food is bad and on top of that they charge you a high tip when the waiters service is precarious. This place is really rubbish.

I love Habana. I found this little oasis years ago when I moved to Austin. The little Tiki thatched huts, roof, and surrounding bamboo behind the bar adds to the topical feel. The drinks are phenomenal, along with the bartenders. My favorite is the Frojita, the Cuban version of the Pina Colada (Tres Leches style,) and the Cuban coffee drinks both traditional and frozen. The food is great too, theyve expanded their menu quite a bit and its easy to share food tapas style and the pallela is great too. I recently celebrated my birthday there with a few other Taurus friends, and they really took good care of us ! I highly recommend their tres leches cake for desert, and the Great Outdoors is next door if you want to walk off your meal in a beautiful environment. They have great large covered patio options, individual Tiki huts for up to 6 people with fans inside , searing indoors in a large dining room, spacious bar seating with lively music playing , back patio searing or bamboo surrounded larger dining below. What a hidden gem, with the flavor of Cuba in South Austin. WB

I ve gone to this place for years- in person and ordering via UberEats, so I m pretty familiar with the taste, quality, and what to expect for pricing. I only ever order the same thing: ropa vieja and a slice of tres leches. I m a bit shocked at how much they ve raised the price on the ropa vieja honestly, and it ll keep me from ordering here again or recommending friends and clients to go here just based on principle. It was $15 a few years ago, went up to $18, then $22 (which is when I started raising my eyebrows), and now it s $31. That s bonkers for a dish that s normally the cheapest option on a Cuban restaurant s menu; it s not supposed to be, nor is it known for being an expensive entree.. even in super high cost of living areas or in areas with authentic Cuban restaurants. I ve literally never seen it priced this high, and it does feel a little price gougey. I ve gone to high end versions of Cuban places, mid range ones, and even food carts, all across the US- still half the cost of this restaurant. Like others mentioned, even in Miami it would be half the price. There are other Cuban and Puerto Rican restaurants in Austin; you should give your business to the ones that are priced fairly (they re the same quality too, same portion sizes).

My first visit to a restaurant in Austin and totally disappointed . The congris looked like it was from the day before, the roast pig served in a casserole looked like soup, the waitress said that the tray had a lot of fat blah blah blah. THE super spicy paella, they charge you for the rum apart from the cocktail, we left and my children didnt even try the food and the manager with his hard face said that we had to pay for it. Ahhh and almost 80 dollars of tip included in the bill with such bad service. Very expensive everything and with poor quality. And there is no air conditioning. In my life I will visit that place again. I think the photos they publish were taken in another restaurant haha because what they publish there does not exist. If I could give them less than 10 stars I would gladly do so. And so that you dont think that this review is old, I leave you the date May 25, 2024. 3 days ago.

For our waitress not to check on us and then tell us that the food was not even made because they got confused with other tables. This service is horrible, the waitress should be able to check on her tables. She wasn t even busy didn t have any tables and couldn t even check on our food. We just left and decided not to get our food, we paid for our drinks but we were so disappointed with this service and our waitress that we just left. I do not recommend this place! Honestly I didn t even want to pay for the drinks , I wanted to speak to a manager but I didn t, just wanted to leave this place.

This was the most mediocre Cuban meal we have had in Austin, yet somehow ALSO the most expensive. Some of the flavors were good, but each dish we tried was a bit off from the way authentic Cuban food is supposed to taste. We spent over $125 (what?!?) for a meal that would have been barely $30-40 in Miami traditional Cuban dishes are literally supposed to be made with cheap and easily accessible ingredients (black beans, rice, plantains, hello?) As a bonus, we waited what seemed like an eternity for our food when the restaurant was nearly empty. Do yourself a favor and go to Chicho s or Cuba512 instead.

Waited for almost 30 min to get served, and place was basically empty. While me and my wife waited we saw 3 waiters walk by, to clean a table and seat 2 other tables that came after us, while staring at us with the menus in front of us without saying a word or even bringing by some water. Last straw came when those same 3 waiters came back with waters and ready to take the other tables order and still ignored us!!!! Literally one waiter just stood behind another waiter while waiting on the other table. They didnt even acknowledged us until we got up to leave and confronted them, and instead of apologizing their first action was try to blame us saying we had snuck in. And on the way out we saw another waitress just chilling on her phone. If their food is as bad as their service i recommend staying far away from this place.

We were looking to eat some good Cuban food and found Habana in South Austin... the ambiance was nice and comfortable we did not like the fabuloso smell but I have to say everything was clean. The bar looked great but we were celebrating and decided to sit outside. The little cabanas are great and very comfortable plus the music made it feel even better. After we oder some coctails and food we enjoy the weather and the music. The food got delivered but seem to small and saddly a little cold; we had the Rabo encendido... I had alot of expectations and I had to say they were not met. The meat was ok! the rice was a little cold and the portion (it was posted that served two) was small with little meat. The taste always ok, I would say ok+ but not for price. Flan was good and the best was the cortadito. In general was a ok to good experience we are coming back to try another dish.

Overall, it was a terrible experience. I honestly cant even rate the atmosphere or the food because the service was so bad that I couldnt even make eye contact with a waitress as she was so rude and uncomfortable to deal with that we just wanted to get out of there asap. At some point she was SUPER RUDE to her coworker who was trying to help us. It was 20 of us, and we were all seated at separate tables in groups of 4, and then we were charged a group service fee for 5 and more people for no reason. Terrible service. The food is whatever, but its the horrendous waitress that really makes this place one to be avoided!

I hate giving this place anything less than 5 stars but doing a review, hoping the owners will see it. We usually love going to eat here with friends that visit from out of town, and tonight we were pretty disappointed and a bit embarrassed. Im not sure if its due to a new chef or whoever is cooking doesnt really know cuban cuisine. The meat was bland, my mofongo with camarones al ajillo, which I always order, was not the usual. What I got was mofongo mixed with shrimp, as in the shrimp was cut into smaller pieces and mixed into the mofongo. And the ajillo sauce that was brought to me on the side was not ajillo sauce, Im not even sure what it was. Both my friends complained about their meat being bland as well. And the cuban nachos came with jalapeños, Cubans dont do jalapeños like that, I know its Texas, but not every Latin dish calls for jalapeños. When people visit your restaurant, they expect to eat Cuban food. Id hate to stop eating here, and Im hoping it was just an off night.

I have always enjoyed visiting this restaurant, but my recent experience was disappointing. My family was surprised by a 22% gratuity charge and additional sales tax on top of the total bill. While I appreciate supporting local businesses and love the Cuban cuisine, its concerning that a dinner for my family and mom approached $400. I hope the management can address these pricing concerns to ensure a more transparent and reasonable dining experience for customers.

Overpriced menu for mediocre menu. Appetizers were overcooked and servings size well-below average! My date wasn t impressed with my choice! Last resort I will head to Killeen for quality Latin cuisine from the Caribbean islands. Enough said!

Food was good! We liked everything we ordered, despite being cold. Problem was that the service was lacking they had a large portion of the restaurant set up for a party and we expected that service may take a while, but it seems like the lone bartender was extremely overwhelmed and our food set in the kitchen waiting to be brought out for a very long time it arrived cold but we had waited so freaking long for it that we just ate it still good so it would have been great if it got brought right away. Everyone else got food right away with less than 10 minutes of ordering so the kitchen was not the problem and proves our food just set around for 25+ minutes would have been 5 stars otherwise

Within 2 hours of eating the Cuban, I had an explosive gut bomb. I don t leave bad reviews but this has me worried. It was overstuffed with dry pork; causing an imbalance of taste. I would prefer it be less than $17 and have less pork.

Extremely overpriced for the food/ambiance. Food was very normal for almost $30 per dish. The service was good and courteous . Friend chicken dish was a brined half chicken (high on salt) and rice and choice of side and no proper sauce. A shrimp dish ( $29) was again salty and very normal had a total of 5 or 6 fried shrimps rice side and some spinach leaves. Definitely not worth the price point. I have been to restaurants that serve $20 dish that were way better than what i had. Our total came to $105 or so with 2 drinks and 2 entrees, one appetizer and a $5 empanada. I do not recommend. Will not be returning just because the food wasnt special.

Habana charged me $9 for 5 slices of maduros. Thats more than a $1 for one bite. One entire plantain is around $0.50 at HEB. The menu is likely the most overpriced in Austin, I understand the circumstances of having to pay for a restaurant lease but the way they are passing this on to the customers is a bit much.

Quintessentially Cuban. I loved every bit of the medianoche which I prefer over the Cuban and the empanadas. The portion sizes are large and if you are a sharer, ordering a couple of appetizers will be more than enough to share and walk away full and satisfied. I will say that their ceviche lacked balance. It needs more fresh lime juice and fish. It was essentially a shrimp ceviche which can be good but, it needed that extra . Overall a great experience with great cuban food. Its a must try while in Austin.

This little hole in the wall restaurant may not look like much on the outside, but the food and drinks are amazing. We attempted to order way more food than 2 people could eat, and they tried to talk us out of it. They didnt try to make us spend a ton of money, though we did because we wanted to try a little of everything. The servers are all friendly, based on the ones I interacted with, and the different sauces paired well with the different meats and sides. I recommend trying a little of everything when you come. I will definitely be making the hour and 20 minute drive again for this amazing restaurant. Parking: There is additional parking around the back with clear signs to follow.

Nice surprise in S Austin. I had heard of Habana as a venue and, for some reason thought it was more Tex-Mexy than Cuban. I was wrong. This is a legit Cuban cuisine and delicioso. There is an influence of T-M in the Croquetas and Guacamole with plantains. So . We were all happy with our meals. Service was impressive. Will return.

The pricing is ridiculous for this type of place. They don t have real Cuban bread, they don t press the sandwiches. Dinner for my wife and I. $71 + tip. We had steak sandwich, not real Cuban steak sandwich, bread etc. $24.00 doesn t include any side. Wife had mofungo app $17.00. It was actually pretty good but super dry. Took a Cuban sandwich home for out daughter. We were told side was included so we got the sweet plantains. Bill came we were charged $9 for the side. We told her she said it was included that she was mistaken. We said to take it off the bill. They actually took the box in the kitchen and took them out of the box, seriously !!!! I would definitely not recommend this place. The server and staff were very nice but they won t last with poor food quality and extremely high pricing for a modest restaurant.
