It had been a few long years since I had been to French Quarter Grille and I forgot what I was missing! Great vibe inside the restaurant and great food! It is a bit pricey but just know that it advance and then enjoy all the things. I started with the gumbo and then got the French Quarter Salmon (salmon wrapped in prosciutto topped with chilled crab) and asparagus and then finished the meal with the bread pudding! I would get it all again. Thanks French Quarter Grille!

Second time Ive been here, and first for my wife. I came 8.5 years ago while in Austin and had told my wife about how good it was, so when we had the opportunity to drive through Austin on our way to San Antonio, I made it a point for it to be at mealtime. We had lunch Friday 8/16/24 and it was still as good as I remembered. We split a salad and the beef and shrimp tortellini....oh, and a bread pudding. Absolutely fantastic from the moment we walked through the door to time to leave. The unsweetened tea tasted like tea, not discolored water, like some places, and the food is gourmet. I commented to the hostess that Id been there before the pandemic and was very happy they are still open. We live in Dallas, so we dont get down this way too often, but next time we are, you better bet well stop in at The French Quarter Grille. Parking: Its located in a small strip mall near Walmart, so parking is no issue.

We came here to celebrate our anniversary. We were disappointed of our fish that wasnt blackened. It didnt have any favor. Secondly the gumbo and red beans were watery. I should ask to taste the roux. She then asked me if I wanted to put sauce on it. I recommend any future customers to skip this place.

We made reservation last minute for 10 people and they accepted and inform us that we have to order by 8.20 pm because the kitchen close at 9pm. We got to the restaurant by 8 pm, and when we got there the hostess said that oh btw when the restaurant close at 9pm you guys have to leave too! WTH? They could have just info us on the phone about that. So disappointed and we are so embarrassed bc we were bringing guests from out of country. I would never go back to this restaurant anymore!! This is the second time I have come here, and this is one of the Austin spots to come. The food is great and make sure to leave room for the Tabasco Cheese Cake, thats not a typo, and its amazing. You can go wrong with the pastas, seafood, the steak was good but I make a better steak . If you have never been here it is worth coming, and if you have been here, then it is likely on your short list of good food in the Austin area.

One of my favorite places to go with friends and loved ones! Everyone is always so nice and the food is excellent. I recommend reservations, as part of the dining area is closed for now until repaired after a recent arson outside, but the side that is open is great! Had blackened shrimp and fried crawfish tails for an appetizer. Their Fried Calamari is excellent as well. Chicken Benjamin, the Pork Tenderloin, and Turtle Cheesecake. The Tabasco Cheesecake is wonderful as well. For drinks I like the Still or French Quarter Old Fashions, but there are multiple fun drinks on the menu. They have great chef specials as well, which I usually get. All-in-all a wonderful place to eat that I highly recommend.

French Quarter Grille was outstanding. The food reminded of exactly of being in New Orleans and was even better than a lot of my experiences there. Everything we had was delicious. The Oysters Rockefeller, the catfish etoufee, the seafood pasta. My kids are picky eaters and they devoured their food as well. Jamie, our server, was perfect. Kind, engaging, knowledgeable, attentive. As many of you know good service seems to be rarer and rare nowadays. Jamie is a true professional and really enhanced our experience. We will definitely be going back to this restaurant. It is one of my favorite in Austin

We were a party of 5 having lunch on a Tuesday. I ll start with the food I had the blackened catfish with étouffée. I order this often at various cajun restaurants. Was cooked well, but lacked seasoning and flavor to my taste. I d rate 2 stars. Another had the shrimp poboy. Reaction was middle-of-the-road. Another had the shrimp and crawfish pasta. This seemed to be the best dish. Honestly don t recall what the other 2 had. While the food was fair, the 20% gratuity for a party of 5 really frustrates me. I understand it s common practice to include on larger parties, but a party of 5 seems excessive. It just feels like an invitation to provide substandard service and is an insult to those that tip reasonably. Feels like the server thinks I m going to short them. I have similar frustration at places where you prepay and are expected to tip. What service have I received to base my tip on I typically tip between 20 and 30%. I would say the service this day was average, so the tip would ve fallen in the middle of that. We split the check 2 ways and honestly, the other party typically tips a little better than I do. However, if a server adds 20% to a party of 5, we will never add additional tip. It s a matter of principle. Gratuity should be based off the service received, not the server s discretion. So for our experience, the server took approximately 5% out of their pay at their discretion. In my opinion, outstanding servers don t have to rely on forced gratuity to make a decent living. To sum it up, our experience fell short of the 4.6 star Google average. May consider trying again with different dishes should the owner get the forced gratuity inline with industry standards.

My husband got the flounder shrimp special and I got the chicken and pesto. Would definitely recommend the chicken pesto. You can tell everything was made from scratch. Was so good very filling. It s hard to find a place like this in Austin so I m so happy I gave it a try. Service was great and fast. Also ended up getting the croissant bread pudding which was amazing. My husband got the chocolate raspberry crème brûlée which was great too the portion seemed a little small for the price but great taste. Would definitely come back.

The food & drinks were delicious - our table ordered the Shrimp Yoli appetizer, 2 of us had a Bloody Mary to drink, 1 had a hurricane, and all were great! For my meal my friend and I each ordered the Shrimp & Crawfish Pasta. My fiancé s mom ordered the Blackened Mahi, which was melt in your mouth tender. I m usually not a huge gnocchi fan, but the food truly was wonderful! Our server was very kind, knowledgeable, and took great care of us. I definitely plan to come back with my fiancé for a date night when we make another trip to Austin.

This is a swanky little spot hidden just outside of a Walmart in North Austin. The inside is a dimly lit scene from a suave movie, with jazz art and a fancy bar. You can see through a window into the kitchen. The restaurant was filled with sophisticated looking people. Fun atmosphere. We were seated after a few minutes wait. Our waiter seemed a little nervous and checked up on us a little too often, but he was nice. He told us about the days special (although I think he insisted it was called something else, maybe feature) which was an onion crusted striped bass in a spinach, bacon, and sun dried tomato sauce with yellow squash and choice of side. My husband went for the shrimp tortellini and a cup of gumbo, and I asked for the special, assuming it would be similarly priced to the other menu items. I asked for the servers recommendations on sides and went with mashed potatoes. They give you bread rolls and herbed garlic butter. The butter was great, but the bread was lacking. It was nice to dip in the gumbo, though. The gumbo was nice, not overly flavorful. When our entrees came, I was disappointed by the mashed potatoes and pleasantly surprised by the squash. The potatoes, described as a sour cream mashed potato, were spiced, yellow, and a little sour. The crusted fish was large, but the texture on the tail end was mealy. The sauce had no identifiable bacon and very little spinach or sundried tomatoes. It was okay. The sauce on my husbands tortellini, however, was divine. I sometimes dipped my fish or mashed potatoes in his sauce. The little crawdads (probably not the right word) on the fish were rubbery. All in all, the dish was okay. I should have asked how much it cost before ordering because it was just under $38 just for my entree. Id assumed it would be in the mid to high 20s, but Id assumed wrong. Thats an outrageous price for a mediocre dish. If we come back, Ill get the tortellini.

EVERYTHING I have had is cooked to perfection. Staff is sweet and attentive. And the restaurant itself has a very calm and welcoming vibe. Please support this Austin Gem!!!! Etouffe and gumbo are delicious and u get plenty of protein regardless of the type you get. Blackened salmon over the house salad with the homemade jalapeno ranch is one of my favs!!! Steaks are seasoned well and temps were spot on.

This was one of the best meals I ve had in a long time! I got the catfish gumbo plate with vegetables and red beans and rice. I haven t ever been to Louisiana and gotten Cajun food, but I would like to think this is pretty close to Louisiana authentic.

This place was fantastic. We were in Austin for a few days and found this by accident. What a pleasant surprise. Food and ambience was great and our server was awesome. If we are ever in this area, we will definitely be back. By the way, the bread pudding is to die for.

The food is AMAZING! Always tastes the same, hands down the best cajun/creole/New Orleans restaurant in town. All the gumbo is spot on, the catfish, everything on the menu. Never dined in but it looks really nice and upscale.

The owner, Scott, and his team have really outdone themselves with this place. My wife and I had dinner there last night to celebrate our wedding anniversary and it did not disappoint! My appetizer was the crawfish gumbo, followed by the mahi mahi Pontchartrain. Serving sizes were very generous. My wife had a steak that was cooked perfectly and we both cleared our plates. We split an orange crème brûlée for desert, which was out of this world. Sinfully good! Our server, Brooke, knew the menu inside out, and made excellent recommendations. I loved that she took time out to really talk to us even though the place is pretty busy. It makes all the difference when you have a good staff. If I could give this place 10 stars, I would! We had an excellent dining experience and we fully recommend it. Go eat!

Not good. We visited this restaurant last year and it was impeccable. Everything was so delicious! A year later, absolutely horrible. The gumbo was like a heavy gravy with no taste, I exchanged it for a crawfish etoufee, even worse .it was bland! My husband s Old Fashioned tasted like cheap bourbon! Our Fried Green Tomatoes were burnt around the edges! We were just too hungry to complain! We paid for a bread pudding to go and it was frozen! I called the restaurant when I got back to our hotel, and was told they usually pack cold bread pudding when it is togo. Really??? In all my years of getting bread pudding to go at other restaurants, the bread puddings have always been packed warm! Horrible! The server could have told us the bread pudding would be cold and we had to pay an automatic 20% gratuity for 5 of us!! Thank God her service was good, except for when it came time for the dessert! We were so excited to come from out of town, but left VERY disappointed!! Do better!!

This place sold me on atmosphere. Dimly lit with tiny flat plane chandeliers and historic photos of The Big Easy made me feel like I was back home. I had the gumbo and the hubby had the red beans and rice. Aside from them being a bit salty, it wasnt the worst wed had before... and in a pinch it did the trick. Service was great, and the place had a decent enough amount of customer traffic that indicates that they have some good dishes, so we will be giving it another try sometime soon.
