Update...9-29-2024 I waited 2 days before posting this update; in hopes of speaking to Travis or someone who handles customer service... On 9-29-2024, I called wanting to place an order for my sons birthday. The person who answered the phone was extremely rude (for no apparent reason). I recalled; she had the same attitude. I recalled the 3rd time (hoping to speak with someone different). The same female answered the phone and a guy took over the call saying, Ok, whats your problem??? Im busy! Youre interrupting my orders! What do you want?!? I politely explained that i was wanting to place an order. Apparently, he was having a bad day as well and couldnt comprehend. I disconnected the call. All I wanted was to place an order and both the female and male gave me a hard time. Yall need to stay at home if youre unable to deal with people or maybe choose a different job. Thank you Travis! The Catfish was good; no complaints. I was hoping it wouldnt be too salty; it was seasoned perfectly. Youll have new customers stopping by soon . I bragged about your Lemon Pepper Wings too. -LaShundra Monae

Custom service was good. The best part of the order was the brisket and the ribs from the 3 meat plate. I really wanted to like the catfish but I didnt. The potato salad was decent. I came for the brisket Mac and it was ok, just to much for me, it lasted me for two days. I did like the green sauce they served with the brisket tacos but that had to much melted cheese on the taco for me.

Our AOG Motorcycle Ministry went in tonight with a group of about 17 of us. The service is friendly quick and on point everyone doing there part to keep things running. The food was fantastic. I got the 3 meat BBQ plate with sliced brisket that was moist and full of flavor. Ribs that were as good as the brisket with the perfect amount of seasoning. My third meat I chose jalapeño cheddar sausage that had the perfect amount of kick. My two sides were mac&cheese and fried okra both very good. My husband had the catfish and loved every bite. This place is spectacular, it is always clean, the service is prompt and friendly, the food is fresh and not some refried hard fish, their Parmesan fries are incredible I had the three catfish fillets and those fries and a drink it was 15.00 plus tax, plus Credit Card Convenience Fee. We have been three times catfish twice and then the ground brisket burger was delicious that is a favorite. Each visit we had the same great experience. We will be back. We just picked up three new remodel projects within 10 min so we will try the BBQ next. I will take pictures next time. The owner is present and you can tell he pours his heart and soul into his buisness and that s why it s full of people when we go in of all ages from high schoolers to this old timer.

Just moved from the Chicago area and I had my eyes on this place. Food is fantastic. We had 3pc catfish, brisket nachos and 40 hot wings. Very large portions and it tasted great. The girls at the counter were very nice. The only negative which to some might not be a negative was the daquiri. That thing was strong. Other than that this place is a hit. Definitely stop by if you havent.

My family went here and truly enjoyed it. The place was clean and the staff is friendly and patient. You could see them making the food and the wait wasn t long. Ordered the garlic parmesan wings and fries because the BBQ was sold out. The wings were delicious. Just the right touch of seasoning. I tried the garlic parmesan fries based on a dare of an unknown man suggestions. The fries were delicious until I saw the oil at the bottom of the tray. I loss my appetite and toss the remaining uneaten fries in the trash. I had about 2 tablespoons oil floating.

Have heard about TJs and wanted to give them a try. This day there were storms that had rolled through the Metro, so they had some system issues, so your only option to pay was cash app or cash. No problem. They were also limited with some of their menu items, but that was not an issue as folks kept coming and ordering and the system issues were not a stopping point. They took orders, made sure the orders were correct, verified that you had what you needed. Looking forward to going back to try more items, ordered food to go but there is plenty of space to dine in. Several tables full of hungry folks chowing down though. Everyone was nice, and ready to get you taken care of. So this may be a temp review until next time.

Been coming here since they first opened. Never a problem. Great food, great service,the works. Guess they are getting too big for there own good. I ordered 1/2 lb ribs 1/2 lb sausage and 8 cajun wings. Opened box and sausage was missing.but ribs were there. They took it brought it back and sure enough there is the sausage. Yum!!! So fast forward to home on couch tucked in to watch a movie and wings down for the night. Opened the box and dbs a rib. WHAT THE HELL? NO RIBS !!! They took the ribs out and gave me brisket. Came here because I was craving wings and was told that TJs has the best wings in Arlington. Discovered that TJs catfish and wings combined with a barbecue joint called MJs barbecue so now they serve both. Even before we got to the entrance, we could smell the barbecue from the outside. It smelled so appealing. When we got inside, we were greeted by friendly staff. We ordered the 10 piece wings, a side of cornbread, a side of fried okras, and the internet infamous loaded potato with barbecue brisket and cheese. When we got our food, oh boy was that potato loaded. It was so loaded you couldnt even see the potato. But that proportion was just right--I hate whenever I finish my toppings and all I got is potato left. No, they give you enough so you can have a topping with every bite. The barbecue that they use on top is sweet--kinda reminds me of Spring Creek barbecue. It was some damn good potato. Every hearty, definitely gets you full. The spicy barbecue wings tasted good. Wasnt the best Ive ever had, but good wings nonetheless. The spicy barbecue tastes like barbecue sauce mixed with buffalo sauce but theres more buffalo than barbecue. Its listed as spicy but its not really that spicy in my opinion. The wings come drenched in sauce so you cant complain about that. It comes with a side of ranch and that ranch is pretty darn good. I usually dont like ranch but I can recognize some good ranch when I taste one. The fried okras are the same as any fried okra out there. These came out hot and fresh and crispy though. So, yes its plain but its good quality. The cornbread is also plain cornbread. Nothing special about it (as a side. Theres two types of cornbread, the entree one and the one as a side. I got the side). It is good though. Gives a pretty good aftertaste. This establishment also serves daiquiris so next time I come I might wanna try them. The restaurant was clean. Ambiance is roomy and has multiple TVs hooked up to the wall. You could watch a game while eating here. Theres a self serve area off to the side where you can get paper plates, utensils, drinks, napkins, to go boxes, and restrooms as well along with a sink with paper towels and soap on the outside which I think is convenient. Honestly Im glad I found this place. Would come back.

It was nice and so was the staff. I was not impressed with the monster baked potato. Meat was very tender and I love the idea, I think the bbq needs a kick to it. It was missing something. I think it destroyed the entire baked potato. Then there was a service charge on my receipt. $2.35. I wonder what thats for. I gave a $15 tip at the register for support. Sad that im posting this, been going to tjs ever since I graduated down the street 10+ years. By far the worst experience i ve ever had, long wait times, mediocre chicken the catfish was mid. They used to have a list of sauces to choose from that s no longer a thing, instead they give you hidden valley ranch in a cup. Sad situation will give a try in a year or two.

Came in for the Cajun food, but was told they werent serving that today. They were focusing on BBQ and catfish due to the amount of people in line. I might have been more disappointed, but the BBQ is incredible! The ribs, sausage, and brisket were so tender and flavorful! Garlic fries and coleslaw were both unique and delicious! The brisket philly was also a must-have, and the Texas Smoke Stacks (bacon wrapped jalapeños) were a delicious add-on. Service was quick for as busy as it was, and everyone was friendly. Well definitely be back. I hope well get to try the cajun food next time, but Im definitely getting more BBQ!

Although the sign says Tjs Catfish, M Jay s House of Smoke is also at this location. If you re in the area you should definitely stop by! We found them through social media and just so happened to be driving through the area on a Tuesday afternoon. Upon entering you order at the counter. There was plenty of seating. Customer service was great. I was able to order pretty quickly. I ordered the 3 Headed Monster which is a baked potato topped with cheese, brisket, sausage, ribs, sauce and green onions. It was very good!! For the amount of meat you get it was worth the price. The sausage and brisket was sooooo perfect!! This dish will feed 2 people easy. I ordered a side of mac & cheese as well and it was delicious. I m super happy we decided to try it out! We would visit again!!

Stopped by this location as my daughter wanted a baked potato, once inside the establishment we proceeded to order a texas spud with sausage since my daughter doesnt like brisket and a 3 headed monster for myself, so the young lady taking the order asked us to hold on a second to see if that modification could be done, and and we were quickly met with a swift oh no we cant do that, no eye contact nor Im sorry we can accommodate you. So I made the decision due to poor customer service I couldnt support ans we swiftly left the establishment and will not visit again, poor customer service is never a solution. ****CATFISH IS SWAI Should be called TJ s Swai and Wings! My husband had been wanting to try this place for quite awhile and went in yesterday. Place was packed which of course sometimes can lead you to believe it must be pretty good. Ordered 3 meat plate and Catfish. He was so disappointed and disgusted by the taste, poor quality and misrepresentation of CATFISH with SWAI!! He contemplated talking to someone but it was so many people and it being a black owned business he just left the entire plate at the table and called to tell me of his experience. We know it is hard to succeed and survive as a small business and especially a small Black owned business so he asked that I called to let the management be aware of his experience versus posting a review online. Which in reality would have been the better choice in this businesses case. I called three times before speaking to someone. 1st time put on hold and then the phone hung up. The next two times it hung up each time they said please hold. When I finally reached someone and explained the reason for my call the person identified himself as TJ. TJ is my main reason for writing the review and the second is my husbands complaint of the food. As a business owner, when someone expresses their personal experience you dont say No one ever says that or I have never heard anyone say they didnt like anything! When obviously based on other reviews there are others who have also expressed their dissatisfaction of the food and/or its quality. He was very arrogant, disrespectful and condescending. Mr TJ try listening and being humble and apologetic if someone contacts you directly about their personal opinion and experience. Great customer service and humility goes a long way as a business owner. Just his entire tone and disposition in this situation (that was intended to be avoided and very well could have been avoided) took the complaint to an entirely different level. I mentioned his false advertisement of CATFISH and asked him directly which he openly admitted was Swai. Some may not know any better but if you have ever eaten real catfish you will immediately know when you are eating Swai. Swai is ILLEGAL to sell in some states due to its significant amounts of failed inspections and health violations. It is also much less expensive than Catfish so to sell it as Catfish is harming and illegal. Customers are cheated when they pay for an higher price and quality of fish but instead receive a fish species of lesser value and quality. The BbQ- brisket was full of fat and it all tasted boiled and then tossed around on the grill to elude to a bbq taste. He did say the sides were okay in case you ever want some sides that are okay but best option is to get your meats and fish elsewhere!

The barbecue was really good . The beans were too sweet for my taste. The Mac n cheese was also tasty. The customer service was great. The dining room has several TVs to enjoy if you dine in. Cold wings and soggy brisket nachos. Ordered to go said ready in 15min, I showed up 25-30min. Wings were ready but fries and brisket nachos were not. Waited another 40min, then waited another 10min for fries. Almost an hour wasted because wings were cold and brisket nachos cold and soggy af by time I got home. No point in ordering to go.

They need a big board w their menu, otherwise you wait for people to decide what they want when they get to front to see menu on the counter. I knew when I walked in and saw a line it was going to be good food. The staff is so welcoming and friendly. Loved how laid back the atmosphere was. Get the brisket tacos....very delicious. You will have a little wait as everything is cooked fresh made to order but well worth it.

This is an intimate, family-friendly establishment. It is like going to friends cookout. The catfish taco is one of my favorites. The staff was friendly. I hadnt been here in a year or two, but I saw them on Instagram showing they had bbq now. Also remembered the fish was pretty good before. Today, I ordered a 2 piece catfish with fries and hushpuppies, and like others, I dont believe it is actually catfish. It was seasoned ok, but I didnt really like the taste of the fish. The fries were regular, not much seasoning, the hushpuppies were good though. But I wouldnt come back for the fish. I also ordered a 1 meat plate with brisket, potato salad, and baked beans, which was good. There was not much seasoning on the brisket, but with the sauce, it was decent bbq. It was moist and tender, and they gave a decent amount. The sides were to my liking also, they use sugar. They were out of ribs, my 1st choice, and this was around 6:30pm. As someone else mentioned, they also charged me $1.26 service fee. Im not sure why though, but I will probably call & ask about it. Its not about the $, but about informing your customers, and I didnt see any sign about it or it being listed on the menu anywhere. The girl who took my order didnt ask if it was to go, but she gave me my order to go anyway. I tipped her because she was pleasant and was good at answering my questions about the food. All in all, I probably would return for more bbq only. The low rating is for the catfish not being catfish, and for not informing your customers of your service fee, and not asking if I was dining in or not. I had been to places that charged a service fee during covid, but they have since removed them now. The restaurant was clean, they have tvs for viewing, and they play music. Oh, while there, a customer was asking for a refund of the fried pickles because they didnt have enough pickle flavor.

Customer service was superb when I went back a second time food wasnt that impressive unfortunately. It could have been the cooks on duty that day. My previous experience the food was superb, and because I like trying new restaurants this was next on my list. I tried several items and the list included the Brisket Philly, catfish, chicken tenders, spicy garlic lemon pepper boneless wings, fries, baked beans, collard greens, ribs, and several more items and everything was delicious!! When I went back I tried the Brisket Philly to see of the experience was tried and true, and it was not that great this time around. My previous experience was: I am a picky eater, so trust me when I say that everything was fresh, flavorful, and delicious. My favorite obviously was the Brisket Philly. It was tender and the creamy cheese sauce really made it unmatched. I will definitely be back! The customer service alone provided by Kynzie was top tier! Loved this place as a first timer. The recommendations made by Kynzie really did not disappoint. Updated experience: Kynzie was still amazing. Food provided by the rest of the staff wasnt up to par for me. It lacked the flavor and seasoning that accompanied it last time.

UPDATE: I haven t been here in a while. It s been maybe a year. My original review was me thinking of previous trips as I was on my way to revisit. I asked for 2 diff flavors in a 20 piece wing. They put all wings in one container with no separation. When I asked about it, the response was with an attitude, it was only 6 of one of the flavors. They re gonna be the ones with the less. The purpose of diff flavors is kind of defeated if they re all in one container on top of each other. They were busy so I understand being frustrated. But next, I try all of my food before I leave and notice my fries are cold. I asked for a fresh order which the lady agreed. The owner comes from the back and tells me, everything was fresh it all just came up. I told him he could taste the fries I brought up if he wanted. He replies, I m just saying we busy everything is fresh. I almost laughed at him. Apparently there s a disconnect between him and his employees because they were not fresh. Investigate why they weren t instead of telling me that they are. Why the hell would I ask for fresh fries if they were? I loved this place so I m disappointed. Im proud of their growth/expansion. But I don t know that they handle it well. This probably my last visit. Best fish in DFW! Spicy bbq sauce for wings is really good.

Love love love this place! The food is always good and fresh. Fried to order fish and wings. The ribs are always falling off the bone and sooo good! Sides are mid, so I usually skip them. The greens, cabbage and beans are spicy, so beware, but they are a cajun crew so that may be their thing. Its nice that they offer them. The crew and service is great, nice location and indoor seating area, i like that i can get a beer or drink while im there too!

Gave this place a second try. Disappointed once again. We placed order over the phone was told it would be ready in 15 minutes. We arrived and of course order wasn t ready. Waited another 10 minutes. Location was pretty much empty, so unsure why it took so long. Never received an apology either. Staff was unpleasant and combative. We ordered 2- 10 pieces wing combos, tender combo and catfish combo. Wings were raw, and smelled like they hadn t been washed, fries were soggy, tenders were over seasoned and catfish was not catfish as another person stated on another review. Alright, I don t even leave reviews.. but if this will save somebody the money, I ll do it. I ordered this thinking it would be real, authentic catfish, since that s what s in the name (Should change to TJ s fish and wings). As soon as I opened the box, I could see it was not real catfish. Spent $30 on this and had to go order raising canes immediately after. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing, not saying this is a terrible place overall. However, if you are looking for real catfish, I would go elsewhere. This is more of white fish/swai.

Mid. Fish is definitely not catfish (likely swai by the way it breaks down instantly in your mouth). Better place for catfish is Flavors Wings and Daiquiris. Kind of ironic that TJ s advertises catfish and it leaves more to be desired, while Flavors highlights wings but actually has good catfish. Anyways Putting aside the not actual catfish - the food is okay. Kind of thick on the breading for the fish but it is seasoned well, good portions, decent service but very disappointing to expect one thing (as advertised) and get something different. There was a special on oxtail also but I had already ordered - as a side note for service here, instead of no we don t have that (originally came for swap fries) offering what is available for the day as an alternative would have went a long way but that opportunity was missed. On a separate occasion I tried the brisket/bbq potato and that was pretty good. Will definitely have to stick to BBQ menu in the future
