Overall a decent place to go for a gym workout. The basketball court is also very spacious to play basketball, paddleball, volleyball, etc. Also, the cost is very reasonable compared to the Stephen Terrell Recreation Center in West Allen, and the front desk folks are pretty decent. The one thing I havent necessarily liked is them unnecessarily digitizing some of their processes, such as cancellation forms. I dont use a smartphone, so I have to go through a more laborious process than necessary to fill out an online Google form when I get home. They used to use paper more often up until this past March (2024), and I was given an option to fill out items via paper in Jan 2024 as well as in prior visits. So it was a bit of an inconvenience. But not to take away from the overall quality of the recreation center. I always enjoy going there during my visits to Allen, especially during the miserable summer months.

Have been a member for at least 15 years. Its the best value you can find in the Allen area. They have all the equipment as the big boys just not as many. I exercise 45 minutes then will get on the indoor track and walk 2 or 3 miles. Never have to wait for anything to finish my plans.

Used to be a member before the pandemic, tried to rejoin, your staff doesnt except good Ole American money or check. Only credit card file so they can extract any amount they want. I cant in all concession give anybody access to my personal info.

Pay per month to have a workout facility with treadmills and two lane walking track. Note the tracks are narrow and it requires 17 laps to walk a mile. Received great help at the counter.

Those using Gmaps beware: When driving on Bethany Dr to arrive at this destination you will need to turn north on MYCOMMUNITYCU not what Google maps currently states as the street name. Our first encounter was with the nicest lady working at the entry counter. Wish I had her name so I could give her a shout-out. We tried out the walking track which I will provide a description for. It takes 17 laps to walk a mile. This tract is approximately the perimeter of the below basketball court. The corners have what I consider to be a rather small radius. The tracks two lanes are rather narrow. I think the treadmill may be another option for me.

Typical of obese Texas to close a fitness facility the day after Thanksgiving. I mean why would you want to work out the day after stuffing your face? Of course in Texas stuffing your face is an everyday occurrence. This place is tiny, the workers are not very friendly or attentive, and I ve only seen them cleaning the machines once in an entire year. The hours are pathetic especially on Sunday and they constantly close areas off because of special events for kids. The only good thing about this place is it s dirt cheap for Allen residents. 90% of the clientele are middle-aged married people just FYI. But I guess that s pretty much Texas.

Joe Farmer Recreation Center in Allen, Texas is a great resource for residents of Allen or nearby Plano. They have a large variety of activities and programs, reasonably priced, and in some cases free for members. Membership is monthly, as of the time of this review they no longer offer annual pricing. Weve done soccer sparks, kinder music, and more. All really fun.

Its nice but they really need to have a schedule sheet up for reservations made for the racquetball court that can be viewed online or at joe farmer. Sucks to play only to get pushed out for a reservation made that you had no idea about but could have adjusted to.

To many older adults when play volleyball. I am a preteen trying to practice my volleyball and these 40 year olds go and play games on the court. I try playing with them but there not on my level so how am I supposed to. There way to strong for me. Can you please separate it by age level? I would really appreciate that.

Daughter started taking martial arts with ISMA and SIFU Bales. She lovea it! Super affordable, great class sizes and the instructor is great and uses positive reinforcement which works great with my kiddo! Im happy she is learning self defense. Especially in this day and age, its great to have them learn confidence and awareness

Great place for the whole family! Gym and workout equipment, ping-pong and Foosball, ponds for fishing, disc golf, baseball, soccer. They have camps for kids for winter, spring, and summer breaks - the counselors are amazing! Shout out to Bubbles and Fortnite! Our son loves those 2!

I love this facility! It has everything for all ages. Membership cost $50 per year and you can enjoy all of the program they offered. Fitness, Gym, Yoga class, Basketball Court, Ping-pong tennis table, indoor tracks, etc. They also have program called Tiny tot gym (for kids 6 mo to 6 yo) every Tuesday from 10 to 11.30 AM . Kids are free if you have a Membership, otherwise its $3 per kid. This particular program only available when the school open, closed during summer break. Friendly helpful and very informative staff members.

Horribly ran. Every time I go in there the staff has an excuse for why the basketball courts are closed even when the calendar said open gym. The only reason I purchased a membership was for basketball. I d come for adult basketball but they run a full court game and barely let anyone switch in and play. Very disappointed with joe farmers center. I doubt I ll be renewing my membership when the opportunity comes.

They conduct juries art show for kids in general and gives small prizes whoever wins. Its very unfortunate that they selects the art pieces depending on names. Anybody can easily see how they distinguish kids if they watch their art shows. Extremely unethical people whoever manages their art shows.

I plan to look for another gym soon. The staff there is not friendly at all. Whenever I scan my card at the front desk the people working there look at me weird or totally ignore me because I am Indian. There was a nice Black lady who used to work there that was from Colorado. She would always smile and say hello to me. I wonder what happened to her. The gym is getting increasingly overcrowded at all hours due to it being small and all the new people that are joining. The equipment is poorly spaced apart and there is hardly any room for me to put my keys/card. This gym also needs a better variety of equipment. I dont like how most of the people there are high school kids or family oriented.
