Love my barrels! I got one for whiskey and one for tequila. Got them both engraved too. They look pretty sweet and really take the bite out of the spirits! Next I m going to try one of the barrel aged cocktails from the recipes booklet - sounds awesome! Highly recommend for any level of spirit enthusiast!

Just wanted to share my rave review. I have used the barrels to age my first black strap molasses batch, and here is how it looks almost six weeks into the aging process. I am expecting a three-month aging should offer some really nice color and bouquet and flavor. Needless to say, I am enthusiastic, and I plan to order more barrels for a batch of apple brandy (calvados) scheduled to be ready for the barrel in about four weeks. I am happy to be a repeat customer and rate your barrels a 6 on a 5-poiont scale!

If you are looking for 1 of the coolest things ever then look no further. Age your own whiskey, rum and brandy with a Red Head Oak barrel. Small batch aging to perfection and the fun is in the tasting! Superb customer service with hyper fast shipping makes for an awesome company to deal with . Highly recommended for chefs and foodies!

4 and 3/4 stars actually. Five might look fake to some folks, so I chose four a bit arbitrarily. Yep, Id buy again. Not just an idle thought - I have been through three curing cycles with barrels from two sources - Red Head Barrels and an un-named Amazon source - calling them noname now. Both are two liter barrels. Had them both for almost two months. (1 10 day batch, seasoning with rye whiskey; 1 19 day batch, curing a Vieux Carre cocktail mix; and now - 1 -34 day batch; curing two types of over-proof artisanal rums) As promised, Red Head leaked, slightly, BUT, their support was excellent and we got them sealed and functional in no time. Noname didnt leak, however, their support was nonexistent when it came to answering other questions (char level, source, usage, etc.) - four emails, and no answers. Zero. Zero. Zero. Made me wonder if I had the address correct. So, I tested it as a perspective buyer this time - and they answered. What does that tell you? Red Heads barrel had a more aromatic odor to it when I smelled the interior. Noname was pretty non-existent aroma wise, ergo, the char/supplier questions. Batches are coming out more distinctively effected from the Red Head barrel. Enjoying the results. When I am ready for another barrel, I will buy from them again. Noname results are very negligible. Hardly different from the source ingredients in comparison tastings. (I am keeping various stage samples for each batch.) Red Head never flinched in their support, whether for questions, needed materials, advice, and so on. First class operation. The proof is definitely in the pudding. I thought at first that I might consider buying from noname again after experiencing no leaks, but I have reversed field after that first week. Lack of support and disappointing results have changed my mind. Nice looking non-functional dust catcher though. (kind of haha, but actually not too funny!) Keep it up Red Head !

I randomly found this website browsing for unique ideas for a father s day gift, and Red Head totally came through! I started with a one liter to see if my dad would have an interest in it, and it turns out he was browsing for one himself a week or so before he got my gift! He was so excited when it came, he opened everything up right away, got his little barrel ready, and is now aging his first batch! We can t wait to try it, and it was so cool I m wanting to get one of these for me and everyone I know! For now, I can definitely say, my dad loves the personalization and will be getting a bigger one for Christmas Thank you guys for your quick shipping and response, and you will be getting my business again soon!

I received a Red Head Barrel as a present. I carefully followed the included instruction for cleaning and curing the barrel and everything worked perfectly. I had one question regarding the bung for the top of the barrel so I emailed support at Red Head Barrel and they responded to me the next morning. I was really pleased and impressed with the the support group. I am using the barrel and am very well pleased with it.

Ordered a 5 liter oak barrel, and a 10 liter oak barrel. Both arrived fast, in very good condition, and I was able to cure them within a day, put spirits in them, and start the aging process going. Super exciting! I didnt contact customer service with a problem, just a thank you and got an immediate response back. Seem like a great company, and their emails have some levity to them, which is nice too. I just ordered 3 additional 3-liter barrels that I plan on prepping up, and putting spirits in to age so I can give them to a few of my friends as gifts. I wish I would have thought to do this years ago. What a great idea. I look forward to trying the whiskey in a couple more weeks, and then months to see the changes to the flavors and profile. Purchased a 3 liter barrel with a custom design and made a batch of Manhattans to start. A Manhattan is a great drink fresh out of the bottle, but the benefit of giving it 5 weeks or so in the barrel turned it into a magical concoction. I had done something to the bung where a slight bit of air worked it way in to the Negoni batch as my second, and the company sent me a replacement bung free of charge. If you have time and patience having drinks marry together like this is a great way to have a good time :). Great product for this sort of thing.

Copied from an email I sent them after the best service I could have possibly been given: Just want to say thank you so much for everything and I don t want to make that an understatement. Your whole company is incredible and I just kind of came into this from my girlfriend giving me this as a gift. What was first cool, turned into incredibly interesting, and then above and beyond any expectations I could have had. I seem to be someone that worries about things a little too much and over thinks things... Because of how awesome this was, I thought I somehow broke it or possibly was about to dry it out before I could make it work again. Not only were u helpful online, and by email, but your phone help gave me 100% assurance to my own faults. The lady helped me with every little worry I had and took the time to explain everything in great detail. I was assured that I did not break the barrel nor could it dry out/ mold in the couple days I was changing the liquor out, so that was a great weight off my shoulders with how easy everything turned out to be. Aside from that, you sent me off another replacement spigot/bung (x2) as well as wax which helped the issue completely. I was more than happy to purchase anything I needed just to show you how much I appreciate your company, but you guys were so nice to send something off the moment you sent a message back. I can t tell you how appreciative I am of the support with your product. The quality itself, speaks for itself but I hope to let everyone know how great your company is. This is such a fun thing to talk about anyways and I always bring up that it s like a time machine for your liquor. I have nothing but the best things to say about you guys and no matter how many times I d say thank you, it wouldn t be enough. Can t wait to see where this hobbie takes me with your barrels!

Received my product in excellent shape, took one day for any leak to stop and I was good to go. On 4/5/2019 I prepped my own recipe (from Puerto Rico) to simulate Puerto Rican Moonshine using the Cuban Rum enhancer as a base with clear Rum, I tasted it on 4/25 and its outstanding! The barrels are well made and contain more spirits than some of the competitors. My experience with small barrels is that it is best to keep the barrel proof under 120 to reduce the risk of leakage.

Barrels can be finicky; luckily, the people at Red Head Barrels are just the opposite. I had some trouble curing a five-liter barrel I ordered to age cocktails for my wedding. I reached out to Red Head Barrels and they patiently, professionally, and expertly walked me through fixing the issue. I m grateful for Red Head Barrels passion for their products. Fast and Friendly service. The engraved mini oak aging barrel I received was high quality and it has become a conversation piece in my man cave. The flavored spirits I can make with this little gem seems to be unlimited too! I enjoy Scotch and this mini oak aging barrel can turn a cheap $15 bottle into an expensive tasting spirit in no time - rivaling some of my 30 year aged Scotches.
