If you are in Waco passing by or visiting and you are into wine, this is a great wine place to hang. Lovely ambience. Great location. Plenty parking spaces. Food was kind of average but the service was great and the wine choices were phenomenal. I also enjoyed the total vibe at the Chef s Table. Totally worth it. Can t wait to be back

I didnt realize that the fried chicken was dark meat. Other than that and the overly sweet honey on it, all was well. The charcuterie board was awesome, as were the fried green tomatoes.

Great place. We felt very welcomed when we entered; and the food was exceptional! We would definitely go here again. One disappointing aspect of our experience was the slow/poor service. Quite honestly, after our initial entry, we felt as if everything went downhill. Neglected might be a goood word, which didnt appear to be the case for the other guests we observed. (Maybe the others were regulars?) After we finished our meals, we sat for a good 10 or 15 minutes waiting for someone to approach us, or at the very least remove our dishes from the table. In fact, we were very interested in the dessert menu, but after sitting for such a long time we finally just got the bill, paid and left. Again, well go back because the food was fantastic, but we hope the service will be better next time. Dietary restrictions: Gluten Free

02/17/2024 Brunch Date. Weve wanted to try this place for a while, and it was outstanding. I had the crab cakes Benedict, and she had the Woodway Breakfast. Ill probably get that next time because I have to know what Big Red butter is like on pancakes . Well be back for brunch and for dinner service in the future. Definitely a great spot to go. P.S. They got that thick good bacon! 04/15/2024 Excellent brunch all the way around again! This is a top-notch operation. Everyone in the group enjoyed their meal, from the Woodway Breakfast to the Shrimp n Grits. Simply put: this place is good. Cannot wait to come here for dinner service.

OH MY WORD! When you pour the crumbs into the to go container along with the remaining bite, you know the food was AMAZING! My mom, sister and I were visiting Waco and hoping to find a good spot to celebrate my mothers birthday. We were so happy to find Oak & Ivy!! Its about a 15 min drive from the touristy stuff downtown but worth EVERY SECOND of the drive! If I could pick up this restaurant and move it to where I live, I would!!! Their cornbread is the most delicious Ive ever tasted and best of all, its GLUTEN FREE!!! They also had gluten free empanadas!!!! So incredibly delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed each of our dishes and had enough for leftovers the next night! Highly recommend!!!!

Our dinner date Saturday evening was at the Oak and Ivy Wine Bar Bistro owned by Joshua Sims. This was an incredible experience! I had the Ahi Tuna and Denise had the Spaghetti Squash in a crème roasted garlic sauce with a tenderloin. It was prepared perfectly and was absolutely delicious! What really made our dinner stand out, however, was the exceptional service we received throughout the night. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, making recommendations and offering suggestions whenever needed. Overall, if you ever find yourself in Waco, Texas, do not miss the opportunity to dine at this restaurant!

Had my second experience this evening, but have been here before for brunch with a larger party. This evening we came for our wedding anniversary and had a wonderful time. We ordered the prawns and grits, stuffed quail, empanadas, and the flourless chocolate cake. Everything was wonderful, but those empanadas with the chimichuri sauce were TO DIE FOR. We had a wonderful server, and were treated so sweetly by everyone there. The food was great, they made us feel wonderful and welcome, and seemed genuinely excited to have us for our celebration. Dont be in a hurry, come for the full package and you will have a wonderful time.

My Old Fashioned was one of the best Ive had in a while. The rest of our group also enjoyed plenty of wine and cocktails. First time guest. We werent impressed with the entrees. The chorizo shrimp & grits were served with an over abundance of chorizo sauce, which overpowered the shrimp & grits experience. The jalapeno potatoes were thick, dry & flavorless. The atmosphere could be fun, yet loud. Positive: Nice extensive wine list. IF I were give it another try, I would just do the empanadas & charcuterie board with a glass of wine.

We had a couple of obnoxious questions and she brought us samples and figured everything out for us. Josh, the owner, was all over the restaurant making people feel at home. Disappointing. I was so excited to try this place and have a new brunch spot in the Woodway area. However, my options were pretty limited because I don t eat pork and the waiter said they weren t able to leave it off the dish. Which I guess is fine, but I ended up ordering the pancake which wasn t anything special. Our food was cold besides the side of potatoes that came out after we had already finished our food. For the two other tables in there, I was surprised we had to wait so long for our food and even longer for the potatoes. I m honestly shocked going through these reviews and seeing the lack of professionalism in the owners response to negative reviews. It s okay for people to not enjoy their experience here, but my 3 star review went to a 1 star after seeing such disrespect by the owner. Yikes Dietary restrictions: They were not accommodating.

Sadly disappointed with our experience at Oak & Ivy. We had looked forward to celebrating our anniversary dinner after hearing positive reviews, however everything from the food to the service was below expectations. Our reservation was for 7pm on a Saturday night, and the restaurant was half-full. Our server was notified about it being a special occasion, however it took 10 minutes for him to bring water to our table and he never mentioned anything about our anniversary. We ordered glasses of wine and cava, which felt light on the pour for a $15 glass. There was a limited menu due to kitchen staff shortages and they were unable to accommodate a charcuterie board for two people (only four). We opted for the shishito pepper appetizer that was the only item we truly enjoyed. Yet the finished plate was never cleared until the end of the meal, which is indicative of the lack of service. It took about an hour to receive our entrees: my chicken pot pie was Ok flavor wise (more watery instead of creamy, and the pie crust was barely cooked) and my husband s steak was completely undercooked (ordered medium rare but received rare) and also at almost room temperature. Giving an extra star because they comped the steak, which was appreciated. However, the experience overall just completely missed the mark. Service was slow and inattentive, and the food fell short of a fine dining experience.

Strange experience here. Came on a Sat night and it was about 30% full. Took about 5 mins to get a table, cause they needed all our info to sit down. Got the diva table and have no idea what that is about. The entire place was lit up like the sun was out, no casual ambiance at all. Wine selection was ok, and enjoyed a nice bottle. I m a frequent visitor to restaurants and social lounges and I will be shocked if this place is open in 6 months if something significant doesn t change. Thank you for the response from the owner. I am aware of some of the places in town that offer a comfortable and professional wine bar ambiance, was just giving yours a try.

Went to dinner with my husband Friday night 8/26. The hostess greeted us very kindly. Place looked very busy and active. Our server Rebecca was very accommodating. We ordered duck dumplings and the steak with chimichurri sauce. Both items were delicious. The steak was like butter. Really enjoyed my dinner. Definitely will be back.

It was very bland and overall uninspiring. Chimichurry sause had no flavor and steak was somehow medium but dry. Overall the main flavor was sour, which was unimpressive. Not worth the money and will not recommend. Vegetarian options: No real vegetarian main dishes.

Couldnt be more impressed with our visit! We sat at the bar, and received great service from both Peyton and Josh. The beer selection is impressive, as is the wine. They even have a sparkling red which I wish I couldve tried. The ahi, house salad, duck, and Panna Cotta were all delicious. Ambiance, music, and food all came together for a wonderful experience. Oak and Ivy is such a fantastic addition to the Waco area and we cant wait to visit again.

Love the new happy hour options. Arrived at 4 for some wine and good charcuterie as a prelude to the evening thinking we d have the place to ourselves- ha! The place was already in full-blown happy. Ethan is an awesome server. We ve been lucky to have him a couple other times (though all the servers are great). As for the food, everything s exceptional. Besides the elegant charcuterie board, the ahi tuna appetizer was excellent. We always look forward to coming here & highly recommend.

Incredible, unique dining experience that is much appreciated in Waco! I made my reservation on opening weekend and sat at the chefs bar. After overhearing what I ordered, she (the chef) personally explained the cooking and preparation process as she and the team continued to prepare my meal. Excellent food and and excellent service! Did I mention the incredible wine selection???

I have been to Oak and Ivy twice now, and both experiences have been exceptional. The staff was top notch, the atmosphere is lovely, and the bacon wrapped quail is to DIE for! We also enjoyed the charcuterie board and the roasted cauliflower appetizers very much. Also, being able to watch the food being prepared with the kitchen space open to the dining area, is a really neat concept. Woodway has been in sore need of a true wine bar for a long time, and Oak and Ivy has finally filled the gap with such a great variety of choices!

The experience at Oak & Ivy is unique to Waco. The menu options offer variety and are all enticing. The beverage manager s suggestions were on point; the appetizers, main dish, and deserts were all excellent. The open kitchen concept gives the food bar an interesting appeal. We shared the tuna appetizer (delectable and generously portioned), I had the steak (cut-with-a-fork tender), my wife had the pork chop, and we shared the chocolate cake, which was smooth like a mousse and delicious. All was prepared to perfection. We enjoyed our meal and look forward to the next one. 10/10 will dine again.

Fascinating, delicious, and exciting cultural twists on traditional staples of fine Texas dining. I think they have the best wine list in or around Waco, covering a wide variety of vines and budgets. The servers and front of house are knowledgeable about the food and wines and offered great suggestions! The owners are some of the nicest people I ve met in my whole life!

This has quickly and easily become my favorite place to eat in the Greater Waco area. The food is exquisite and it s obvious the chef, sommelier, servers, and all staff take great care and are proud of what they re sharing here. The atmosphere is inviting and fitting whether you want to dress up or down; have a more formal dinner or a relaxed evening enjoying excellent wine and cheese. The menu is really something special, and you can t go wrong with any of it, but my current favorites are the Thai Cauliflower and the Quail (it s unbelievable.) Well done, I will be back!

What a fabulous experience! Oak and Ivy has perfected the art of fine dining! I ordered the bacon-wrapped quail. The mild jalapeño and apricot mixed with the savory quail beautifully. I also order the root vegetables and jalapeño cornbread - both were delicious. Our server recommended a white and a red wine, both of which were the perfect complement to the meal. Our table shared the flourless chocolate cake for a sweet end to a delightful evening. The ambiance of this establishment - with its open kitchen and attention to detail - exudes a sense of warmth and welcome uncommon in a typical restaurant. We were personally greeted by the owner who continued to check-in with our group throughout the evening. We will definitely be back to enjoy the excellent food and welcoming vibe of Oak and Ivy next time we travel to Waco!

Original: We had a reservation made roughly an hour after they posted reservations open on Instagram. They called the day of the reservation canceling on us without reason and giving us no time to make nice plans for our friends last night in town. Edited: Oak & Ivy was able to accommodate us yesterday evening and we had a very nice night. The staff was all friendly and helpful. Theyve been able to do a lot with the space and I really like the open kitchen layout. The food came out very quickly and was perfectly cooked. We had the tenderloin and quail and each enjoyed them. The wine selection is extensive and reasonably priced.

The overall experience was very good. Made reservations for 7pm on Saturday evening. We arrived at 6:55 had a seat at the bar and were moved to our table before our drinks came. We started with a charcuterie board and the bread and jelly was wonderful. After that my wife and I orders the Thai cauliflower and the corn bread. Both were good however the corn bread was amazing. My wife had wine and I had a beer from Southern Roots. We sat at the open kitchen bar and the staff asked multiple times how our meal was. The only complaint I would have is that while cooking steaks or meats on the grill the room especially at top by the kitchen would get very smoky. Very excited to have this option in Woodway.
