Wow.. just wow.. Im a foodie of the first order. One of my best friends of 18 years is a celebrity chef, and I have been very fortunate to get to have some amazing meals all over the world. Hill Country has always been quite short on culinary innovation, hell, almost all of central Texas caters to a more mild palate and to people who havent had the craft of a chef who doesnt believe he needs to cook just like everyone else to get by. That changed this morning with our visit to Hildees. We accidentally arrived before open and Chef was outside prepping the front of the house for the morning. He literally stopped and welcomed us into the restaurant, walked us in and made sure we were seated. Impressed. We started with the deviled egg Choux, which was served over frisee, and had just the right blend of spice and the Gribiche was literally perfect. Just enough yolk to set off the spice. Impressed again. Next was the Lox - smoked with Hibiscus? I was skeptical, and was totally proved wrong.. delicate, sweet, just enough smoke, it was too good. My 5yo ate more than half.. Im keto, and made it a cheat meal because the bread was so delicious smelling I couldnt help myself, so I jumped in was th both feet and ordered the chicken fried steak - Bison steak mind you! It had a perfectly over medium egg ( test your chef!) the crust was incredible, so light and fluffy, not a trace of the heaviness you find when the kitchen sets the protein in flour for 45 minutes vs a chef prepared proper egg wash and batter. Truly impressed at this point. My 5yo had an off menu item that combined the hard crust of a hot skillet with the perfect timing to keep the very center super moist and tender. The best part? The price. Two apps, coffee, two juice boxes, the most expensive entree and another adult sized entree and it was less than $40 per person (not including my toddler who ate off the other plates) Im a big guy, 6 240lbs, and I couldnt finish my entree. You can for sure eat greasy spoon food for less, but for the quality and care that our meal was sourced, prepared and presented, not a chance. They absolutely are not charging enough for what you get. Chef and team, thank you for a fantastic meal and fantastic service, it was a real treat! Cant wait to get to come back for dinner and drinks!

We visited Hildee s for cocktail hour on Friday, and the drinks were phenomenal. We tasted the specialty cocktails, but the margaritas were our favorite! We sampled some apps while there, and because of the service, food, drinks, environment, we wanted to come back for their brunch on Sunday. The chilaquiles was spectacular!! Anytime we come back to this area, we will definitely come back to Hildee s!!

Stip trying so hard! People just want simple fresh tasty food. This place is trying to put some weird flare on dishes that are just fine the way they usually come. At no point is it acceptable to put carrots in Ceviche. If you want to survive, ditch the current Chef and get a new one, and lower your food prices. Food got one star. Service was great and atmosphere was acceptable, except for the overhead AC vents dripping into your glass.

If you want a very fancy meal in Wimberley at stratosphere prices, this is your place. I had the chicken fried bison which was tasty and the margarita on the rocks which was brilliant. But I was highly disappointed with my dates scallops. Basically two that were filleted in half after cooking so it appeared to be four. I dont regret trying it, but Im likely not going to be a regular unless someone else chooses spots. Ill willingly go, but there are better spots in town.

Third time Ive eaten here and probably my last. First time Salisbury Steak was mushy. Second time a good hamburger. Third time the Seafood Enchiladas ( I was told this was a popular choice). Had tomator pie and chive biscuits for apps. I guess this is just not my kind of place. The server was excellent. The food did not appeal to me and condensation from the air conditioner louvers overhead kept dripping on us. The food is overpriced and not memorable at all.

We went for brunch this morning with a group of six people. We were able to make reservations online the day before. We sat outside and, even though it was a hot summer day, they had cooling fans and it was actually very pleasant. The service was great and the food was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was very quaint and quintessential Wimberley. Because Wimberly is always busy with traffic, it is nice that they have a parking lot on site for patrons of the restaurant. (We ordered the ceviche as an appetizer and it was absolutely amazing!)

Our server was great, she did her best. This building used to be the supper club with high quality fresh foods, innovative cocktails with a dark academia vibe which was fun. They didn t fully remodel the space, just painted walls white and over existing wallpaper. Which makes it really hard to not compare quality of food the variety of options or even the cocktail menu. Overall food and atmosphere very disappointing. Deviled eggs are over seasoned and served inside a stale, cold puff pastry. The redfish and couscous are just okay.

Jury is out on the revamped Hildees. Was a big fan of the former location where food and atmosphere made sense. Never had a bad experience. Same could be said for former Supper Club, where Hildee s is now located. Went for brunch a few weeks ago though and first impression, the dining room was freezing cold-condensation dripping from the vents onto us and our table. The few updates they did to Supper Club decor don t make sense, for example, the existing lighting was designed for a dark space but they decided to paint the walls white so now it feels drab and cold. The servers were low energy and the food was just okay. Disappointed the cornbread and pimento was nixed from the menu and my staple dish did not live up to the former standard. Dish was heavily sauced and chicken skin was rubbery and inedible. Tbd if we will return. Maybe it was just an off day. Wish them the best though, we need good dining options in this area!

Frequently visited the old Hildees which started out with amazing staff food and service and kind of lost their way at the end. New location is basically the Supper Club with a coat of cream paint and all the lights turned on same furnishings. Wine and beer selections pail in comparison to Community Pizza the two wines we ordered were not good picks as were the beers. Food came out all at once not very hot. The old location they would instantly deliver. Refilling water was something we had to ask for. The other waitstaff were much more attentive and engaging. We were fans of the first year Hildees at the other location this is departure of that experience.

Edit in response to the below response from business. The mimosa carafe is 48 verified by bartender (for Wycliffe, 5 dollars at total wine) additional juices are 3 dollars. I apologize for the 2 dollar discrepancy. Brunchers beware! If you blindly ask for a mimosa carafe expecting 15 or 30 bucks (not on the menu) you re gonna get a charged 50 bucks for a bottle of Wycliffe ($5 at total wine). Otherwise food and service was fantastic.

Hildees on the Square is the best restaurant in Wimberley, without a doubt! The artistry of the food and drinks leaves all of your sense captivated! I was unfamiliar with the names of the dishes, but when they came out, the food was familiar, but done unlike anything I have ever experienced before. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about what they are serving, and the service was top-notch. The atmosphere is comfortably high-end, with private booths, open tables, and an awesome outdoor covered patio. This was a very memorable experience and you can bet that my family will be back! Do yourself a favor and go visit Ryan and the fine folks at Hildees.

Awesome first visit to this spot, which wisely moved from the vacant outskirts of town to the middle of it. Gotta get the basics right, so I went for the hamburger and was extremely impressed by every part of it. Super fresh ingredients and high quality beef (cooked to perfection) put this burger on top of my favorites list. I wish they offered a choice of sides, but the housemade chips served with it were decent enough. Excellent and sincere service from Mia made the experience better and I imagine we will be back for more elaborate meals in the future. I truly hope this restaurant becomes a mainstay in town, as great dining options in Wimberley are elusive.

Hildees is a nice addition to the casual Wimberley food scene. They took over the Wimberley Supper Club space. Now they offer casual American dining serving brunch, lunch and dinner. We came in at 4:00 pm on a Saturday and ordered from a mid-day menu available from 2-5 pm. It is a smaller menu with some overlap with their main menu items. We started our meal with their version of Deviled Eggs ($9). These were a deconstructed version of an all time favorite served on locally grown Frisée greens. Both the flavor and the texture of this dish were a success in my opinion. My fellow diners had a hamburger ($18) each and said it was one of the best hamburgers they have ever had, both in texture, size and flavors. I had the mixed green salad with root vegetables and an added grilled shrimp protein. While the shrimp were fresh, the seasonings were a bit too overwhelming and too salty. The salad was a bit wilted and the dressing a bit bland. It would have been more successful served on top of the Frisée greens they served with the Deviled Eggs. Overall the service was good especially for Wimberley establishments, and the location as well as the decor are a hit. We will definitely come back. Vegetarian options: Not too many vegetarian options on the menu. Parking: Parking is tight on the weekend.

Appalling Encounter with Owner - Disrespect and Threats Its with disappointment that I pen this review after a highly unsettling experience at this restaurant. While trying to decide where to eat in Wimberley as me and my family are from out of town turned into a nightmare thanks to the rudeness and threats from the owner over an issue as trivial as parking. On arriving, I parked my car on a public street, considering there were no signs indicating any restrictions. Things took a turn for the worse when the owner approached us with an aggressive attitude, accusing me of parking wrongly and said I will have your car towed Instead of handling the situation professionally or courteously, the owner chose to threaten me with towing my car from a public street, which is not within their rights. Their lack of respect and hostile approach was shocking and completely uncalled for. The threats were not only unjustified but also disrupted our experience. Customer service is a critical aspect of any business, and this restaurant fails miserably in this regard. The owners behavior was not only unprofessional but also highly disrespectful. I strongly discourage anyone else from dining here if they value a peaceful and respectful dining experience. My advice to potential customers - consider other options where your patronage will be appreciated and where you wont be threatened over parking in a public space.

Owner was so rude. It was our first time visiting this area and he told me if you do not eat at my restaurant I will have your car towed mind you. We were parking in a public space. Anywhere you park in the street without a sign is public parking. I asked 2 owners of other businesses as well as did I ask if I was okay to park there, they both said he is rude and trying to take over the public parking. we left. No you rude old man I would not like to eat at your restaurant. Especially if your the one running it. Good luck getting business!

I was wondering if the pears and blood orange would be too sweet, but it was perfect! The lemon ceasar with shrimp added was superb, shrimp was good sized and perfectly seasoned and good. The seafood enchiladas were phenomenal, the seafood so fresh and the salsa verda delicious! The chicken fried steak was perfection, I could smell and taste the bacon grease, exactly everything a chicken fried steak should be! The mashed potatoes met every expectation and more. We really enjoyed this place when we stopped in for a late lunch. The menu is limited, but it actually covers the bases well. We ordered burgers and a few beers. Everything was excellent. The beer selection, much like the food menu, wasnt huge but it was enough. If I was to try to find a complaint it would be that they could use more appetizers on the menu (any?), The building itself was really nice, and with the large cooling fans it was pleasant to sit outside even in the hot weather. Great spot that we thoroughly enjoyed Kid-friendliness: Great little playground for kids, safely fenced off

Waited an hour an never got food. Our server Diego was nice but there might be a miscommunication between the cooks or staff, cause three tables ate and left before us. Even a table that sat outside got served And we were the only party in the restaurant. They were nice enough to comp our two iced teas and said we could wait another ten minutes I don t know if it s cause we were the only Hispanic patrons in a small Texas town ; or just the cooks chilling on the phone that we never got to try anything but the iced tea.

The summer melon salad with goat cheese green goddess dressing was probably the best salad I ve eaten! My husband raved about the open-faced sandwich chicken and peach chutney. NEW FAV RESTAURANT

I don t leave my fare share of reviews, but I feel this time it is a must. My family and I visited this establishment today and was impressed with the location and the brick and mortar. But now let s talk about the menu. Not a lot to chose from first off. We then decided on a Hamburger with Tots and Sausage and Shrimp. This is where the fun begins. The $17 Hamburger let s be real it was a slider with a half dozen tots. Meat was good quality however. Now the $24 Sausage and Shrimp this is where I felt the insults really begin. It was 3 grilled shrimp( not good quality more like HEB) with a half link of sausage lying on a bed of SpaghettiOs. Yes a bed of spaghettiOs .. With this being said, I am by no means a cheap person I enjoy eating out and trying new location but I want to feel comfortable with my purchase. So enter this at your own risk, this is just my take on the situation. Thank you Chef Boyardee for your response!

We are local to Wimberley and always try to support new restaurants in town. Weve eaten twice in the past month at Hildees and both times the food was amazing. As foodies, we appreciate creative menus and fine ingredients like wagyu beef, fontina cheese, bourbon glaze, etc. The menu on the website is not updated as the menus in the restaurant contain a much nicer selection. The ceviche is an interesting twist as it includes sweet melon, lime juice, jalapeno, and seafood -- its quite good. The beef and chicken dishes are large proportions and well-executed. Its surprisingly good and now one of our favorite alternatives to downtown Wimberley. The indoor (air conditioned) table space is limited so make reservations in advance during Summer. The staff is continuing to improve the menu and service. I have to give a shout out to Danny, who took AMAZING care of us at dinner last night -- including finding 4 bar seats for dinner when I forgot to make reservations. Vegetarian options: The fried green tomatoes and polenta are quite good.

Excellent decision to stop and try this place out! The guys ordered the Hildee s Burgers with tots. The ladies ordered the Hill Country Cobb Salads. Hildee s Burger 9/10 - they are: DOUBLE PATTY, 1/2LB. TEXAS WAGYU, SMOKED CHEDDAR, TOMATO AND SMOKED PORK JAM, LTO, HILDEE SAUCE, POTATO BUN. Wow! Pretty good overall, however mine needed a little salt and pepper to make the flavor pop. The included Tater Tots were excellent. A little crispy, like Hashbrown Tots. Hill Country Cobb Salad 10/10 - they are: FARM GREENS, NESTFRESH EGG, SMOKED PORK AND CHICKEN, HOUSE PICKLES, FETA CHEESE, GREEN GODDESS DRESSING. The ruling on these were they were extremely good. Reminded my wife of the epic salads at Supper at the Pearl. Definitely a must try! Service 9/10 - Zoey L was our server and did an excellent job. She was friendly, attentive and helpful. Thanks for the guitar decal Zoey!! Atmosphere 9/10 - place seems pretty new. It s clean, nice vibe and has a fun feel. Overall 9/10 - the only real con might be the limited menu items. I d definitely recommend to try it out!!

If the entrees and cocktails were all priced below $10 this would be a 4-star place to hang out with the family. Food is extremely basic and/or not well made. 20-dollar chicken dish was the best item any of the ten of us ordered - the worst was the risotto which actually made people sick. The cocktails were watered down and just wrong - my mojito had a sprig of mint, not muddled, and tasted mostly like refrigerated tap water. Maybe the ice cubes were to blame? They tried to fancify things randomly which just made things worse. For example, the not miserable sheet cake, was cold, obviously made elsewhere, and topped with blackberries that were sliced in half and given a little char bad berries + burn + chocolate = me having to stand up a take a walk, gagging and laughing at how horrible is that combination. Also don t get fooled into thinking this is good for kids just because it has a cheap and tiny playground. The kids menu, full of fried and basic items that are very hard to mess up, was pretty bad as well. None of the kids liked their food. 1 star minimum plus 1 star for being the only restaurant in any proximity with no wait (Which is actually a bad sign so subtract 1) Plus 1 star for friendly wait-staff who warned us against the worst items.

I had lunch there with a friend where we had one drink each the bill came to $65 and then youre expected to pay another $10 for a tip of course. $75 for lunch. This is BY FAR the best restaurant in Wimberley. I appreciate all the restaurants in town, but Hildee s goes above and beyond on thinking through their dishes and cocktails. It s so nice to have a restaurant in our little town who serves such interesting foods- foods that are worth the money! This restaurant is right on par (price wise) with everywhere else in Wimberley, but is the only place that feels worth it. The atmosphere is relaxed, but has nice modern touches. It s extremely family-friendly. My 3 year old runs straight to the playground and joins all the other kids so we can relax outside to eat. The family who owns this restaurant are always present and building relationships with their customers. Their kids are there playing and are the sweetest. Its not necessary, but nice to know the family and business you are supporting lives in town and puts all their heart and soul into the establishment. Wimberley couldn t ask for more when it comes to a new restaurant opening up.

I tried this place when they first opened about a year ago and wasnt a fan. Their menu was really weird. I noticed the menu had changed so I figured Id give it another shot. Ill start with the negative things. - waited awhile to order drinks - once ordered, we waited awhile (for soda) - finally got to order food. It took 45 minutes to an hour to come out If youre tight on time, this isnt the place for you. However, if youre meeting friends or have kids that need to burn some energy on the playground and dont mind spending a couple of hours here, this is a great place for that. Price. Very high for what you get. Cant remember for sure, but I want to say the grilled cheese from the kids menu was $10 or $12. That should help paint a picture of what youll pay for adult entrees. Sides are typically ordered separately. Here is our order and total price paid: 1 Burger and tots 1 Grilled chicken 2 sodas 2 Jack and Cokes About $80, before tip. Now for the positive. The food was great. I sampled my buddys chicken fried steak and immediately regretted getting a burger. Dont get me wrong both the burger and the tots were great, but the chicken fried steak is where its at.

Service was ok, I ll get that out of the way. Now let s go to price. $22 for meatloaf, $17 for a burger. For those prices you would expect some hell of good food right? Willies has a way better burger for a lot less than $17. Bubbas 33 has great burger for less than $17. Freddy s has a way better burger for far less than $17 dollars. My meatloaf is far better than this places $22 dollar meatloaf. Hell Dennys can do meatloaf that is as good as this place and it s under $10. Was the atmosphere worth the crazy price for this average food, no way. Owner if you are going to charge $17 for a freaking burger and tots it had better be one helluva burger and a plate full of tots. 11 tots? Seriously? Folks save your hard earned cash, get the same burger somewhere else for a lot less. I m not saying the food was bad, it s just not worth what this owner thinks it is. Hard pass on going back.

WAY overpriced. My husband ordered a $34 dollar NY strip, and it came cut up and piled on top of 2 small potato halves, 4 Brussels sprouts, and a way overly lime tasting sauce. These mixed foods with the steak were in the middle of a large, practically empty, lunch serving tray/dish and the food portion was extremely small. There were also huge sprinkles of salt/too much salt on the steak. It was so disappointing that we got pizza after because my husband was still hungry.
