Romantic, quiet, delicious food. Buttttt......Read to the end. We loved walking around the trails, and also riding on the canoe in the private pond. The 2 cows (Milkshake and Oreo) on site were the absolute BEST. They made us feel at easy, calm and relaxed. The antique Barn diner was very delightful and stunningly updated with exquisite interior decor. The lodge rooms themselves were an interesting concept; a community type accommodations; (4 separate parties for every lodge building). The firepits with smores was also a fantastic touch to have something to do in the evenings since the pools sadly close too early. We also got to explore the lands and the old residence, everyone was very inviting. The only problem was... It was a significant special occasion and we made prior dinner reservations. We actually left church early that Sunday, to be sure not to miss our appointed dinner time slot but when we arrived they werent ready for us in the least. We then proceeded to stand around for 2 HOURS! to be seated at nearly 10 pm. Meanwhile a massive spider was crawling on the walls by the bench we awaited at. Now questioning their kitchen sanitation. We asked the hostess repeatedly about our seating and reservations as we were left watching others eat. After we were FINALLY seated, we were starving and obviously everything tasted delicious. But then after the first course came, the fire alarms frighteningly went off, not once.. but twice! With PTSD this is a major TRIGGER. Not to mention- My companion is DIABETIC so the extended wait time had dropped his glucose dangerously low. Thankfully, I had a few crackers in the car to hold over during the 2 hr delay. To say the least it was a very upsetting evening and a disappointing significant special occasion experience especially for the hefty price. They killed any romance. Breakfast and the next morning was better. Not sure wed return. Great business concept if it actually flowed smoothly.

Every facet of this Willis retreat space is 5-star. From the initial welcome to the restaurant staff, house and ground-keepers to even the speechless yet vibrant landscape, Historic Hill House + Farm is worth a long visit. The bed and bath spaces are luxurious from linens to amenities. The hiking trails are well marked and impeccably groomed. The dining room is full of light and food is delicious. The pools are pristine. Truly a gem nestled in the woods awaits the person in need of rest and refreshment.

Food and drinks: We went to the restaurant. We both had lobster bisque and it was buttery delicious. My husband had rabbit with mushroom Farro and it was juicy, tender, and the mushroom Farro was his favorite part of the meal. I had skirt steak with fancy potato thing and asparagus. The steak was well cooked but could have used a sauce or more seasoning, the potato thing was awesome cheesy crispy, and the asparagus was perfect with a hint of lemon. Dessert the husband got the pomegranate butter cake, he loved it but I thought it was too sweet. The cheese plate was awesome with the blue cheese being the star to me.

Wow, seems too small of a word. My wife and I stayed for a quick staycation and we were pleasantly surprised. We had been told about this little spot tucked away but would have never believed such a wonderful place was hidden on this site. The attention to detail in every room is one of the first things we noticed. Hand written notes and the remarkably decorated rooms with a surprising number of ammonites offered was refreshing. We enjoyed walking the hiking trail and the two young cows delighted us as they played in their pen. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner and breakfast during our stay. Chef Jess made rounds each meal to check on us and talk. The owner Michael was on site for breakfast and was a wonderful conversationalist. We will staying here again in the future.

My husband and I have had the pleasure of visiting Historic Hill House and Farm on two occasions. This past year we spent Easter Sunday on the property and thoroughly enjoyed their hospitality and the scrumptious brunch. we also just rang in the New year at the farm house. We had a peaceful and intimate experience. The rooms are comfortable as well as beautiful. We enjoyed the walk around the property and stopped to visit with Milkshake and Annabelle, The resident Cows, who were just as excited to see us. The 3 course dinner that evening and the breakfast in the morning was 5 stars. Food, Service, accommodations and atmosphere was top notch. Already planning our second escape.

In addition to having the anniversary party, with DJ, dinner & photography...the property also held all of oir family with the out of state guests that stayed for the weekend following the party. Every bit of the experience was absolutely perfect. Many of the surprise party guests from around the United States have stayed at very prestigious hotels and event locations in their professional years. Every one of their reviews were resounding praise to the beautiful and well thought out property, staff, property manager & chef. Such a relaxing and memorable expereince. All guests confirmed this property is truly magical. I highly recommend. Food and drinks: Amazing breakfast & highly recommend chefs choices in dinners

This is an incredibly late post, as my wife and I stayed at the Historic Hill House months ago during the summer, but theyre certainly still worthy of the positive review. The resort itself is great (the pictures online are an appropriate representation of reality, it isnt oversold) and really fits the farmhouse chic vibe perfectly. However, the most standout feature of this resort was the service; Ill spare the details, but the management staff went out of their way to make last minute accommodations for my wife and I after some life events took place that altered the specifics of our trip. I know this is difficult for a smaller venue to do but they really took care of us in this matter. Well definitely be staying here again for a weekend getaway. Highly recommended!

We went for a full weekend with another couple to celebrate our 16th anniversary and enjoyed every minute of our time at Hill House. We stayed in the Revere room in the original home. Starting with our check in experience- upon checking in we were served with bar nuts and a lemon lavender spritzer. We purchased the foodie package and our room had a charcuterie board waiting for us. The room was immaculate and still had the charm of 1885. Our food service- every meal was phenomenal! Our servers were attentive, the food was delicious and the atmosphere of the barn was prefect. We enjoyed pool time and even had a picnic lunch pool side. Our cocktails were on point. The grounds- the original houses has a common area that we enjoyed with our friends during the heat of the day. The pool was clean and refreshing. The large porch was prefect for our evening hang outs and card playing. We enjoyed the hiking trail each morning which included some time with the Hill cows Milkshake and Annabelle and hanging by the pond watching ducklings. We booked a couple massage and it was a prefect midday relaxing session. The attention to detail that Hill House provided is hard to find. The staff is friendly, ready to assist and attentive. We will be back and honestly loved every minute of our stay.

Attending wedding here, stayed on site and it was our anniversary weekend. Absolutely gorgeous, we arrived late at night was a shown directly to our rooms and given a quick run down the room and events; to include breakfast next day. This a great place for a quick get away, clean, felt very safe and very warming. We loved smores in the room individual packaged, water and tea in the fridge [ wish that was replaced daily]. Our favorite was fireplace at night in room. There are activity options on site such a pool, hot tub, trails and etc however we didnt explore these due to our plans already made. Would definitely recommend, prices were a little higher than we expected but worth it. Rooms: Options of different types of rooms such as cottages or full house. Safety: Area is gated and must buzz to get in. Food and drinks: Restaurant and bar on-site.

We went here for Christmas Eve Supper and it was an experience that didnt disappoint. My wife found this place and we decided to book dinner here. I will say up front, the meal was expensive, but it ended up being worth it. The entrance is gated and you have to be buzzed in, and it initially got me worried about getting out of place or that the staff would be pretentious. That turned out to be a wrong assumption. We were greeted by the bartender, who served us up some delicious cocktails and then we sat at our table and ordered our dinner. The food was wonderful and the staff were very friendly. Our server, Frankie, was no exception. She was attentive and explained dishes when we had questions. She was also great with our son during the whole meal. The day before my daughter s wedding, I flew in to Texas to help her prepare for it. From the initial communication with Lacey on to the final communication with Sarah on departure, the professionalism and hospitality of the entire team was consistently remarkable. They definitely knew what to do, and how to do it; yet they all had a humble, servant heart. Just to name a few of my experiences, precious little Lacey, the Assistant Inn Keeper insisted on carrying my luggage into the house and up the stairs to my room. Such a Sweetheart! Over and over, whether running to get me another bottle of water, give me a ride on the golf cart, take care of getting things where they needed to be, etc., she was there. It was like having a personal assistant, yet she managed to do the same for the others who needed her. (Thank you, Lacey!) As far as I have observed in the management of resorts, and other venues, Sarah, the Inn Keeper is the Best of the Best. There is really not enough room to tell everything she did for us, and always with a genuinely cheerful, happy heart. (Thank you, Sarah!) She and the team did an amazing job keeping up with our requests at the same time doing their job preparing for the event. They were always in tune and always a step ahead. Same way with Frankie, another one of the managers. Without hesitation, Frankie stopped what she was doing to grab a blower to get the fresh fallen leaves away from the ceremony location. I noticed how careful she was not to disturb or blow debris on all the candles in the jars on the ground. (Thank you, Frankie!) The chef, I believe his name is Chase and his team did an excellent job preparing the selections. It was definitely a fine dining experience in quality & presentation, and tasted absolutely delicious. Repeatedly, I heard everyone speaking how much they enjoyed the food. I also want to mention Tory, Jared and David who were all so sweet, and showed their dedication in doing the best job possible. (Thank you to the entire team, including the ones that weren t mentioned by name, only because I didn t know it. Nevertheless, I loved the cheerful servant heart of each and every one of you. You all went above and beyond to make it a wonderful experience.) I also had the opportunity to meet Mike, one of the owners. I was so impressed by his kindness to us and the way he interacted and worked with his team. He was very genuine and personable. There was a standard of excellence which was evident throughout the venue. The rooms were clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated, and included all the extras, even bathrobes and slippers. What a nice surprise it was to walk in and find all the special, and delicious treats in our rooms. (You made us feel extra special and pampered.) What an amazing place! It was beautiful! One guest had the experience of watching a small deer as she walked from her cabin. Also seeing the lights illuminating the trees at night was very pleasant for me. I also appreciated that the venue was gated and the walking areas were well lit. There were two fire pits with nice armed chairs surrounding them, and two swimming pools. Truly, the atmosphere was so peaceful it really made it hard to leave. On the website, someone commented that every detail is thought through. I couldn t have said it better. I highly recommend the Historic Hill House for the most wonderful and memorable experience for everyone attending. It definitely was for us!!

This location is right outside of Sam Houston National Forest, its super convenient after you take a long hiking trip, especially if you are out of town like me and the family, a short drive to rest for the day. We stay at the barn house Longview suite, its beautifully furnished. The only small issue during our stay was the hand sink was backed up, water flow from faucet was very slow. Hand sink was cleared within couple hours after we reported the issue while we went out for dinner, but faucet probably is a bigger job, hopefully they can repair the whole thing soon. Other than that, the stay was awesome. Night sky view on the farm was beautiful, next morning we took a short walk, just realized the property is so big. Due to our tight schedule, we didnt stay for the breakfast at the restaurant, nor did we make a reservation for the dinner prior. Its certainly something we plan to try. With that say, we certainly will have to plan for another trip to stay there longer. Will definitely spread the words and let good friends know this secret heaven on earth.

I wanted a new and memorable place for dinner with my Dad for Fathers day. I stumbled on this place on Google maps, and decided to give it a try. We did not spend the night, just made dinner reservations. It was a chefs choice 4 course meal with wine pairing. We were all VERY impressed with the whole experience. The service was warm and friendly, and quite knowledgeable. Chef Chase Reed had deviled eggs topped with fried anchovies on a bed of crispy Brussel sprouts to start. He paired this with a duck horn chardonnay. Next was a charred romaine chunk topped withblue cheese and toasted pork

I got sick with covid two days before my reservation. Since it is a small bed and breakfast that hosts a communal dinner, I did not want to endanger other guests by coming so I tried to reschedule my reservation. They wouldnt allow me to change my reservation date and told me they were keeping over $300 I pre-paid for dinner and a room. They said it was against their policy to give refunds or credits under any circumstance. I would be very wary of this hotel, which gives guests the only options of coming with covid or losing money. Finally after appeals and calls, they offered to give me a partial credit for rebooking later on but insisted on keeping 1/3rd of what I paid for a rebooking fee. I found the manager, Sara, to be very unprofessional, smug, and devoid of empathy with how she handled a customer who was sick with covid and upset about their unkind no reschedule policy.

The food was five star all the way. Chef Chase was informative and obviously loves his craft. Sarah and Bradley and other staff members were very attentive and down to earth hosts. Booked a 5 day trip for myself and my aunt here and we both had a great time. We stayed in one of the cottages and it was super clean (kudos to the cleaning staff here! cuz if theres one thing I hate is going to a vacation spot and your room isnt clean) and comfy with lots of natural light. Easy to use ac and ceiling fan to make it as cold as we wanted. Plus a little private patio with two rocking chairs and table. Bradley makes awesome cocktails and mocktails. The chef makes delicious food, breakfast was particularly good! The innkeeper (Sara) and the owner (Michael) were both friendly and made us feel really welcomed. There is lots of open green places to walk or just relax. I enjoyed putting a blanket under a tree and just reading/napping/watching the scenery..I saw a rabbit right outside my room one day. Also, lots of places with chairs/tables to sit both outside and inside. Highly recommend a visit here if you need a little getaway. I enjoyed my stay here and definitely plan to go back.

My husband, my newborn, and I just had the most amazing two day staycation at the Historic Hill House & Farm. We came to celebrate four events all within a month: the birth of our second baby (a girl), our 14th year anniversary, my birthday, and my husband s birthday. From the beginning, Brian (the GM) and team were so accommodating. I called in advance to have something set up in our room for my husband. Brian made sure we had balloons for each celebration as well as a charcuterie board and a great bottle of wine to toast (at a pretty reasonable price). The room was great. Spacious, very clean, and the bed was SUPER comfortable...you just sink in like if you were in a cloud. There was a kitchenette, where I was able to keep my pumped milk for the baby, as well as some candies to sweeten our stay. During our first night, we had the three course meal and WOW! Everything was just delicious! What I love is that there is no menu, just chef s choice. And the dessert: parsnip cake...to die for. We had never eaten a parsnip cake but it was amazing! After dinner, we went and sat by the campfire and had the best time with the few other couples that were also celebrating anniversaries while making s mores. The next day my husband took a nice run through the trails in the property and then we went off to breakfast (which starts at 9...yes!). Again, the food was just amazing. Yogurt with berries, granola, and seeds, milky eggs, country potatoes, delicious pancakes, and French press coffee. We then sat out by the pool and enjoyed the perfect 80 degree fall weather. For lunch, we were able to order sliders, tacos with drinks by the pool. Perfect breezy pool weather! For dinner, this time, we changed to the five course meal and we are so glad we did! Just every little item was so creative. And again, dessert was a hit: sweet potato cheesecake with a roasted marshmallow top and handmade cinnamon ice cream! Yum! (You can tell I love sweets). We then sat by the campfire again and this time Dennis (father of the owner of the establishment) sat with us and we all had great conversation before heading to bed. The next morning, we got up before breakfast and went on a nice hike with our baby strapped across my chest. The weather was great and we stumbled upon the lake. We sat by the dock and enjoyed a few minutes of peace before heading to breakfast. Breakfast was again a hit, and almost completely different stuff than the day before (only the same eggs). We checked out but decided to enjoy a few final hours by the pool. We were the only ones there and it was great. We asked Brian if we could order lunch but the staff had already left (guests had already checked out and left, so it was understandable) but he surprised us with a cheese plate and drinks for us to enjoy by the pool. What exceptional service! Every detail throughout our stay was just so well thought out, making our time incredibly enjoyable and something we won t forget soon. We are definitely making this a common staycation spot. It was just the perfect getaway we needed. We are even thinking of renting out the place for a weekend to enjoy with some family and friends, and I think there are only 7 rooms so totally doable. Thank you, HHH&F staff! You made us feel very special during our stay. We can t wait to come back again.

We rented out the entire property for a private event, our wedding. We booked the place site unseen, just based on the pictures. When we went to visit it was soo much better in person, especially considering the pictures are amazing. The process of planning our event was seamless, they answered every question we had, were extremely accommodating and even provided some helpful ideas. We purchased all of our alcohol and food from them, and Chef Tori made us an amazing wedding cake. Going into the weekend we were a bit apprehensive since we knew we were going to be a big rowdy group (35 people for the whole weekend). The staff, headed up by the innkeeper Amanda, made sure everything ran seamlessly and discretely conferred with my Maid of Honor when questions or hiccups arised. She also coordinated with my husband to get a bouncy castle on the property! Amanda did such a great job, I didnt even notice her presence on our wedding day, but also had everything I wanted without having to ask. Her hospitality is unmatched in my experience and we are excited to go back and enjoy it. Dennis the groundkeeper was kind, knowledgeable and irreplaceable when it came to making sure the property looked beautiful each morning. He also helped my Maid of Honor make sure all of our gift bags were put out and the fridges for the rooms stocked with items we brought. Although Im positive we kept him up until at least 3am each night, every morning I found him waking up before me with a smile on his face, cleaning something. HIs energy and kindness was refreshing and we would have been a hot mess without it. Chef Tori was the shining element of our weekend, where Amanda seamlessly blended, Chef Tori stood out in an amazing way. She worked closely with us on our menu for the weekend and delivered in a big way. We had vegan, gluten free, and lactose free guests, as well as a severe food allergy, and all of those guests were accomodated sooo well that I got at least 3 compliments each day from them. For us basic people, Chef Tori delivered on the menu we planned in a huge way, producing compliments all around. She also made our wedding cake, and it was perfect, Im having to control myself from not eating the top layer that was saved. The staff and location of the Historic Hill House and Farm made our small intimate wedding a dream weekend with lots of fun, relaxing and delicious memories. We cant wait to go back for our anniversary next year and for years to come.

Wow! This was the most relaxing weekend! The Hill House and Farm was a great environment for a weekend getaway for my wife and me. We were served multiple course meals by a professional chef and it was some of the best tasting food. My wife and I were in awe when each dish would come out because they looked outstanding. There was plenty to do on the land, walking trails, fishing, swimming in the pool or hot tub. We stayed in one of the cottages, which was very large and pretty. It was an all-inclusive resort which provided us with a great experience! We are excited to go back!

I loved my stay at Historic Hill House and Farm! It was an easy hour drive from downtown Houston, but really felt like a chance to leave the city behind. The lovingly restored house from the late 1880s is a jewel and the newly built additional guest accommodations are decorated with charm and all you might need for a weekend or week away. I enjoyed relaxing at the pool and hot tub during the day and around the fire pit with friends at night. Theres even a two mile loop to enjoy a walk or run during your stay. Last but not least, the food was fantastic and generously portioned so come hungry. Cant wait to book another weekend!

We had a fabulous time during our stay at The Historic Hill House and Farm. The food was AMAZING at every meal. Chef James Neil created a beautiful menu from the fresh creme brûlée cookies that greeted us at check in, to the 4 course dinner, to the crepes with berry compote for breakfast. Our cabin was beautiful and very comfortable for our family of four. We enjoyed family and friends by the pool then s mores by the fire after dinner. Spending time rocking on the back porch with friends was a wonderful break from the hustle of our busy lives. We will for sure be back!

We enjoyed a night here with my parents who were in town visiting from California. We all loved the quiet, tranquil property. So much to explore (loved the walking trails and the pond!). Our kids loved the pool and being able to have smores at the fire pit after dinner. The cottages we stayed in were immaculate and had all the right touches we would expect at a bed and breakfast. Dinner was so delicious - hands down the best shrimp and grits Ive ever had. The staff was attentive and made sure we were well taken care of. We will definitely be back!

We just had the opportunity to experience the Historic Hill House with a group of our favorite friends. For it being new, it was surprising how together it was. The location is near our home in The Woodlands but far enough for us to feel relaxed and away The facility was gorgeous. It felt like a farm but definitely upscale. The charm of the 1880s farmhouse was teamed with beautiful new cottages and a gorgeous pool area. Dinner was a treat. Jimmy the chef served us a fantastic four-course meal that was an experience in itself. Yummy country and savory to our taste buds! The price is right especially considering it includes three meals a day and more than a room - its a relaxing getaway!

My wife and I had the pleasure of visiting The Historic Hill House and Farm last weekend. It was a wonderful place to go to get away from the city (its only an hour drive from downtown Houston). The pool area was great, a perfect spot for the children to play. The food was delicious and the portions generous. If you are looking for a spot to escape from the noise of the city for a weekend, this is an excellent option.
