Great peaceful place. The restroom were nasty the whole time, they don t care about cleaning at all, the worse part was there was not a lot of visitors to justify the dirty toilets, the last day we went on to cayack and water currents were very strong took us longer to get back on time to check out our shelter and sure enough we had a ranger coming over to give us a reminder about the check out time on a vacant Sunday. Dirty and strict place to be. Toilets: Not taken care at all

We took a ride to check the campground out. We camped here back in the 90s. Had a favorite spot on a point. We couldnt find that spot because of all the changes and upgrades. The park is beautifully updated since we camped there last. We are planning on camping there very soon. Playground: There are a few nice playgrounds. The swim areas have life jackets and are marked off. Toilets: Restrooms are clean and fresh smelling. Dog-friendliness: Dogs are allowed but need to be on a leash. Picnic area: Very clean and covered picnic tables.

I used to come cliff diving in college. Now its a place to camp and an easy road trip from Dallas. There really isnt a lot to do here besides fish and a few trails when camping, but it is nice and quiet. Also a good place to bring a first time camper because its close enough to Waco if you need city access for entertainment.

I love Lake Whitney. I have camped at the State Park multiple times, and I have never been disappointed. The wildlife and scenery around Lake Whitney are beautiful. The best thing about Lake Whitney is the fishing! Toilets: The bathrooms here are spotless for a park. When I think of using a park bathroom, I think of everything broken down, outdated, dirty, and disgusting. Not here. Plus, when youre camping, the showers are really nice. Dog-friendliness: This place is great as long as you keep your dog on a leash. I take my blue-heeled dog with me, and he loves to swim and play in the water.

Stayed at whitetail campground at spot 60, right on the lake with a beautiful view. Showed up late at night paid $14 for tent site and $5 per person a total of $30. Not a place you can just show up and stay at. Reserve ahead of time. We wanted to stay a couple days but turned out to be Easter weekend and it fully booked. Which is fine, but when the campground volunteer came around, she was super rude right off the bat, and really soured our experience. Trying to treat us like we did something wrong, even tho we did our due diligence and paid for the spot when we arrived. Maybe we weren t on time leaving, but it s a park it s really not that big of a deal. The rangers were super kind and friendly, and understanding and didn t even sweat us like how the volunteer lady did. and even as we were leaving the office the volunteer had to once again tell us what to do, go out the other door .. it really isn t hard to be kind to people, especially when folks are just trying to enjoy nature. we had no ideal it was sold out for the weekend when we showed up Thursday night, and we accepted the fact that we couldn t stay another night. Showers were good and had high pressure and were hot, weird set up though, no privacy really in the showers.

Like most Texas state parks, Lake Whitney is a hidden gem. I probably wouldnt make a special trip for it, but if you live within a reasonable distance, its definitely worth a visit. With only two trails, it caters more for fishing and boating. There are also many lakeside camp sites and at least a few cabins. Day use is $5 /person.

Park is situated close to town , office staff was not available and it was self service station so carry cash for entry fee . There were rangers car in the park roaming . Park has one small trail about a mile long and small kid friendly , trail is near sunset point area . There are plenty of camping , RV and shelter area thru out the park, restroom are clean and located thru out the park as well . Lake is huge I mean huge huge and state park offers tables along edges available as first come first serve, swimming area is designated and swimming vest were hanging right next to rest room , I will post a picture as well . If you coming to this park plan to stay till sunset . Sunset view is best from sunset area that is on other side from swimming area and need about 5 mile ride that is pretty along grassland and lake edge . Overall happy go luck park that is clean and offers views , plan to stay for sunset . One more thing there are butterflies on trail .

First time here. Really nice park and lake. We had a screened in shelter, which was very nice and clean. Fairly secluded, lots of space around it, and easy access via a trail to the lake. One downside during our visit is that the closest latrine/shower was closed for repairs. We will be back, perhaps when the weather is cooler.

We enjoyed staying at the park. We were camped at the Bluebird camping loop. Site 93 has a beautiful view of the lake but is very unlevel. We did have partial shade except for in the evening. Site 90 seems to be more level with some shade and a nice view. If we ever stay here again, that is the site we would choose. The bathrooms are a moderate walk. They are adequate. Our water pressure was not very good. And it seems like there was a pipe that had broken because water was bubbling up near the spigot. I guess they must not check the sites between campers because there was trash there when we arrived. Toilets: There is one regular shower stall and one handicapped shower stall. They were clean with good water pressure.

Lake Whitney is a very nice park. It s very big and spread out. Good lake access for swimming wish the lake was a little cooler but that s not some thing that can be controlled. It s just hot RV sites are nice with full hook ups most have decent shade, but not all.

Nice looking park, but a little unkept. Our spot was pretty dirty (not the parks fault that humans are slobs, but still) and the lake surface was too muddy for an enjoyable swim.

The horseshoe loop is our favorite camping spot. We have met so many friends campers there. Someone new every time we go. Lots of space for biking and hiking. Playground: Our grandkids enjoy the playground equipment.

Very rocky shores not good for fishing from the banks at this time. Lake levels low. Even the swimming area wasnt very good at this time. We left 2 days early from our visit. Wasnt impressed. Didnt see much wildlife but did see alot of Cardinals. We did get a beautiful sunset pic and moon lite.

The park was very clean and not crowded but it was early on a Friday. All the spots were reserved. We are definitely planning on returning to spend more time on the lake!

2nd time visiting from HTX area and worth the drive. The water, sunsets and sunrises, the nature itself. All of it perfect, minus the heat. Super clean park and honestly the bathrooms too for a State Park!
