Quiet busy on Saturday Staff doesnt hassle you . But they will help you if asked. Easy check out. Plenty of parking 92524 tried to call about a product but no answer all day. Complete lack of customer service 092724: It appears that this certain store has gone downhill and spiraling out of control. I called corporate and asked them why this certain store wasnt answering their phone and they tried to call as well but no answer. I also tried to call the Pearland store and same results. It is absolutely unprofessional to say you are a retail store. Get your act together

I drove 200 miles to do some fishing in Galveston Bay. When I arrived, I realized my fishing license was expired. I arrived at Academy in Webster a few minutes past closing, and I was met at the door with the bad news. When I explained my situation, Garrett was kind enough to let me in and get me a license. Tonight I sent my daughter and one of my employees into Academy to purchase a ninja 30 quart ice chest. I gave them cash and wanted one employee to check it out before having other employees purchase one. The lady at the register did not take the tag off and the alarm went off when they exited the building. They showed the receipt and the person at the door removed the tag. However, the problem started next. My daughter turned around and the lady that had checked them out at the register was leaned over the counter, laughing. My daughter exited the building and called me. I told her to get the managers name and the employees name and to bring me the receipt. Customer service is so bad in most places these days. It is really embarrassing when this happens in any store but to turn around and have the lady at the register think this is funny is beyond me. I will be contacting the manager tomorrow, returning the ice chest, and purchasing it at Home Depot. There were eight of my employees that would ve purchased this ice chest at $200. That is $1600 this employee has caused this Academy location to lose. In the long run, it will be more than that because I will never shop in any Academy again. I choose to shop somewhere where customer service is still king.

This place must not need customers money. This was the 3rd time there were more than 20 people in line and only 2 cashiers. I tried to call the phone number and ask for a manager but the phone line just rang and no one answered. I had a basket full and just walked out and left it. Probably wont return here. This place has fallen off bigtime. Academy responded asking for specifics so here it goes; Its easier and faster to find Kmart employees than Academy. If you do find someone, they look so depressed you would think they worked at the Apple factory in china, and they cant help you because they either arent trained enough or they are stuck at the Gun counter and cant move from their post... The managers are helpless, losing sight of customer service out of fear of corporate control. The products are defective and seem like they have sat in the store for far too long... for example Jeans purchased that are ripped at the seam 3 months in and cant be exchanged I had to call wrangler who was happy to do it...then there was a large online order of supposedly store overstock left from Black friday that never reached me and I cant reach anyone from Academy to help resolve this. Fishing braid that I tried to buy last week, stood and waited at the fishing counter for almost an hour after speaking with 2 employees who called for help and nobody showed up. Finally, a few months back I bought a Ruger 10/22 rifle and a 20ga shotgun online because the store showed they were in stock, then I received a call saying these guns were almost 5 and 7 year old display models covered in marring and scratches, they offered $50 off total for both guns stating that they are still new and not used.... I completely disagree and so would everyone else on earth, just because it hasnt been fired yet doesnt mean that its still in NEW condition and should be listed online as such wasting my time... They looked like they had fallen from a moving vehicle. I stand by my comment that Academy should partner with Mcdonalds, add a grocery section and call itself Walmart...

They were very good at corralling me around the way to get in line. I had 2 items to return. One of the items was a heavy duty cot&a sleeping bag, I never got to use them during the long weekend. It was too hot to really go out&have an enjoyable time. However, they handled my return with a snap. I was surprised how easy&no squabbling. I just handed them the receipt &was in+out maybe 10 minutes. They handled it really well. They were an older man with dark hair that helped me&a younger lady with dark hair. They seemed really nice.

You should always get your receipt printed. I relied on their text message receipt option, but never received it. When it came to an item return, an assistant said that the precise transaction number, date, time and the number of the cash register is not a proof of purchase.

Never order a gun from here. Went to pick up my gun and the guy at the counter completely ignored me for a solid 25 minutes. Once he finally acknowledged me and I told him I was there to pick up a gun I had ordered on line at which point he placed my id behind the desk and began helping another customer. I was told by the manager she didn t have time to request a refund and gave me a 1800 number to call. They don t answer the phone. Still awaiting on Academy to refund $1100. Going to Cabelas.

My experience yesterday was far from acceptable. Went in for a pair of shoes for my son. There were 2 employees in that section. I went to ask the closest one to me for the kids area. He completely ignored me like I wasn t even there. Turns out he had earbuds in both ears. How can you help someone if you can t hear them? Because he just kept walking away I asked the next closest person. He was standing there with his phone propped on the shelf watching videos. He at least only had one earbud in so he could hear me, but acted like I was interrupting his me time . This younger generation needs to learn respect, work ethics and so much more but they need to be held to a higher standard. The leadership over them allowing cellphone usage is a joke. I was going to say something to the manager but wanna guess who was also on their phone? My company doesn t allow it, if they see it I d be fired on the spot and I don t work in retail. I will not be returning to this store. I gave an extra star because the lady at the check out wasn t on her phone, she was very nice.

A week before Thanksgiving, one of the largest stores in Houston. 6:30pm. Everybody and their mother shopping and this store has 1 register open and she is waiting for a price check. The line is wrapped around the store. I ask for the manager and they told me he is in the office. I watched no less than 5 people drop their merchandise on the first shelf and walk out. In these tough times and people are trying to spend money and you cant find or hire good staff, you need to look in the mirror. I personally dropped over 500 dollars of merchandise and walked out. Fix it Academy or you are going to lose more customers to the internet. Sad, Sad, Sad.

Beware: Though the entire front of the entrance advertises their Price Match Guarantee, there is no guarantee at all and you will still need to buy your merchandise elsewhere to get the best price. They are still charging original MSRP of $119 for the women s Puma Nitro Velocity 2 shoes that came out 2 years ago, even while selling the newer 3 version that was just released this year for $135. We found the exact same 2 version on Holabird for $99 with a discount that made them $68 with free shipping. The clerk was nice when we asked about the price match and confirmed it was the exact same shoe but had to radio a manager to get approval. The manager s questions made it clear Academy wants to advertise this offer more than honor it, even though they never asked how much of a difference there was in price: Are you sure it is the same exact shoe and size? Yes. Is there a physical store for Holabird? Yes, I pulled up the address and pictures of the inside and outside. Is it on the list of price match companies? The poor clerk had to scroll and scroll and scroll through their lengthy price match stipulations and was growing weary. The decision: I don t see that on the policy and it is the same price at Dick s. Sure, and Dick s runs way more coupons and promos, too, and I am standing here because I am trying to support Academy. Okay, well, we know Academy is already choosing to discontinue all Puma clothing at a time when Puma is making a major move into the AAU sports world and these shoes are already 2 years old, but it wasn t the clerk s fault so we kindly ordered them cheaper while they rang up our other items and are passing the advice along to not waste your time expecting any guarantee. It is literally a gimmick to get you in the doors where it is advertised, and that is all.

Bought a pair of shoes that had the incorrect size in the box. Irritating and something you think they d check first. Since they don t ship to California, I had to physically go pick them up then send them to my daughter who then had to ship them back because despite what the box said, they were the wrong size. Academy is a good place to shop most of the time I can find what I need, however the Galveston store has a much lower inventory then off. But, they have good baseball gear during baseball season good golf gear most of the time and great soccer and football year during seasons. Sometimes its tough for these guys to compete with amazon.
