To Investors/owners of Academy Sports and Outdoors I am writing to express my profound concern and dissatisfaction with the service I received at your establishment. As a Marine Corps combat veteran, I have encountered numerous situations requiring precision, competence, and unwavering professionalism. Regrettably, my recent experience attempting to purchase a Sig Sauer Fuse P365 at your store was marred by a distinct lack of these qualities, primarily due to the actions of your female firearms section manager. From the outset, the transaction was plagued with inefficiencies and unprofessional behavior. The manager in question displayed impatience and a dismissive attitude, compounded by incompetence in handling what should have been a straightforward purchase. After multiple failed attempts to process my card, she made a critical error an error that could have been avoided with proper attention and diligence. After wasting three hours of my time, I sought accountability and resolution. Instead, I was met with hostility and unprofessionalism. The manager became visibly angry, to the point of shaking, and threatened to deny the sale of the firearm without any provocation from my side. This reaction is not only unprofessional but also deeply concerning given her role involves the handling and sale of firearms. Her failure to offer any alternative solutions, such as using another payment method, further exemplifies a lack of problem-solving skills and leadership qualities. Overhearing her conversations with employees, it became evident that she lacks the fundamental qualities of a leader, raising serious concerns about the safety and integrity of your firearms section. Considering her behavior, it is questionable whether she possesses the necessary understanding of firearm safety. Her inability to manage her emotions, especially in a high-stakes environment involving firearms, is alarming. Such conduct not only disrespects veterans but also jeopardizes the reputation of your establishment. As a veteran with extensive experience, I found her dismissive and disrespectful attitude particularly egregious. Her blatant disregard for customer service and professionalism is unacceptable. I am a longtime customer with a reputable standing among various vendors in Waco, and this incident stands out as a significant deviation from the standard of service I am accustomed to. I urge Academy Sports and Outdoors to address this matter with the utmost seriousness. The manager s behavior reflects poorly on your organization and raises questions about the training and oversight of personnel entrusted with the sale of firearms. Immediate corrective action is necessary to ensure that such incidents do not recur. Failure to address this issue adequately will compel me to escalate the matter through all available channels, including contacting my congressman. It is imperative that your managers exhibit complete control over their emotions and demonstrate the highest standards of professionalism, particularly when dealing with firearms. You know that cashier that does not enjoy the customer part of the job? That is the one I had today. It was so difficult for her to fake the enjoyment of checking out people that it came across as shear disdain. He body language and facial expressions showed me that I was considered a nusiance at her register. Her words were few and only short phrases that she was forced to speak to het through the transaction. I had one item. Thats it. Nothing difficult. I was kind. I was nice. I still left there feeling unwelcome. I have been to this store multiple times, and this was the only negative interaction I have ever had here. Yet, all it took was this one negative experience with one item to make me consider driving to a different Academy in a different city. Three stars instead of one because I have had positive experiences here prior.

Staff is not educated at all on the products they sell. Equipment I purchased ended up being defective. And when you call to troubleshoot the issue, nobody at any extension picks up the phone. Very poorly managed.

I generally enjoy academy sports, but this location needs help. Seems like every single visit here. This place lacks inventory. Its like it is out of stock or picked over. To make matters worse when u do find what u want to purchase there in a shortage of open registers. I believe there are like twelve registers, and two were open. After standing behind, probably thirty other people we finally got to check out. I am very disappointed cause the other locations are great

Ordered online, picked up curbside. Literally the laziest way to shop, but also the best way (because shopping in person is an anxiety inducing nightmare). Anyhoozle, they brought me the stuff right to my car. No problems, no mix-ups, no drama, and no anxiety! So yeah that s pretty much all I can say about it

Spent my lunch hour in here trying to find an employee to help me find an item. When I finally found someone, Tammy, she made it clear that I was bothering her. I already had the product pulled up on my phone with the SKU number to make it easy for her however, when she looked at my phone, the particular place that the screen was at didn t show the picture of the product or the SKU and she says with such attitude how can I even help you if I can t even see it . So I am taking my business elsewhere. Mind you, the product showed in-stock online and there were PLENTY of associates in the store so not a matter of not enough help . Super disappointed.

I found everything I was looking for and was able to get checked out quickly. There was no wait to be checked out. The staff are attentive, asking me several times (by different staff) if I needed assistance (I did not), but it was appreciated. Would love to see more womens shoes in sizes higher than 8 and 9 in stores though.

Paid on line after hrs to be sure I got what I wanted before they sold out.(just in case) The next morning my order was ready before the store opened. They give you the option to pick up in store or curbside. They came out with my purchase within a couple minutes of checking in, and loaded it in the car and as always nice friendly service.

My son bought some clothes he couldnt try then on as the people had the changing rooms blocked and said they were closed - the store was still opened for over an hour. He had to take items back the next day that didnt fit and we had to stand in a line of about 50 people they had the 2 people at the customer service checking people out and 1 other register opened , pure craziness and extremely poor management

Today around 6:00 pm, I went to this store, nothing was wrong until I got to the cash register to pay, there I received bad service from the cashier, she was in a bad mood, I wanted to pay with cash and she said she only accepted card, I politely asked where I could pay cash and she was just very rude. Its not my fault youre having a bad day, just do your job well. I think she got upset because I was speaking Spanish, but I wasnt talking to her.
