In 1979, the Golden Triangle Shopping Center was torn down to make way for business growth in the Valley Mills Drive area. We moved to our current location at 703 N. Valley Mills Drive in April, 1979. The business grew and in less than 10 years had more than tripled in size. Our Valley Mills Dr store now occupies more than 11,000 square feet and can seat more than 500.

Our go-to place for birthday celebrations! The birthday boy/girl/man/woman receives a free pitcher of beverage of their choice! The reason for the 4-star rating for atmosphere is due to the overly chilly air conditioning. Most in our party were uncomfortable. Otherwise, 5/5 all the way!

Its times like these I wish I could do .5 stars. Id definitely give this place a 3.5 review. Im here for business and wanted to grab a pizza, so this is a first time review. Its honestly just pizza. Its not great, its not bad but nothing sticks out. It seemed kinda dry, honestly. I probably wouldnt come back again but I dont regret coming and trying it either. Maybe their other food is better, or maybe I came at a bad time (I came during dinner time on a friday, which is prime pizza time) but honestly, it just comes across as just another pizza shop . At the end of the day, im glad I atleast supported a small shop.

Met here for a professional meeting, and all I can say is that I hope the next meeting will be some place different. The service was sub-par, and I never received the food I ordered, even after being there an additional 90 minutes after placing my order. Some members of my party received food, others didnt. Some received the right orders, others didnt. The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth, pun definitely intended, since I didnt taste anything that night

To start, our waitress was actually sweet. Not sure if it was the kitchen or if they were generally understaffed, but our party was there for 3 hours, 2 of which were spent waiting on our food. Some folks in our group didnt get theirs until closer to the 3 hour mark after we wed asked for our checks so we could leave. We had children in the group that missed their bedtime while we waited for pizza. They did comp some of the food by the time it came out, but the manager never came out and an explanation was never given. I ordered bone-in wings that came out boneless (pretty certain these are Tyson frozen chicken nuggets) and the wrong flavor. Generally a really bad experience, but do think our waitress did her best.

Very disappointed was there last night (Saturday August 10) for a family gathering of 12. Appetizer not brought out before meal some pizzas not cooked all the way, couple not even cut, never got my salad had to get the server attention just to finally get it. One pizza made wrong so they had to remake it but no one ever came to let us know we had to flag her down just to find out. She had a hard time getting orders right. My husband ordered anchovies one the side but didnt get them so had to get her attention again just to find out they were out. Have been going there for years but after last night not sure we will be back.

No exaggeration, this place was a terrible experience. We were seated quickly, but it took 10 minutes for the server to even greet us and take a drink order despite walking by us multiple times and peeking out from the back even more times. Another 5+ minutes to bring two teas out. We start placing our order for her to interrupt and stop us to go get a notepad to write it down on (2 orders of the pizza bread appetizer and 2 small pizzas). After placing the order, the pizza bread came out about 30 minutes (no joke) later and was already cold and soggy. My husband s pizza came out about 10 minutes after that which was also cold already.. no sign of my pizza anywhere. Another server stopped by and asked if we were doing okay and said she would check on the status. Never heard back from her. Fast forward another 5ish minutes and who I assume to either be owner or manager comes out and asks, repeats the same line of checking on it. Comes back and tries to rectify the situation by explaining the cook put my pizza on the broken belt and nobody realized it never cooked. She offered the pizza for free, but we settled on 1/2 off since we re not looking for anything free, and claimed pizza would be out in 5-6 minutes. 15 minutes later, another server finally goes to check on it. At this point, we were just done and asked for the pizza to be put into a box and check brought out. After giving our card to pay, it took another 10 minutes to get the card back and receipt so we could finally leave. An hour and a half for terrible service, cold and soggy food, and a missing pizza. Never again!

Just left this place of business. We stood at the front waiting to be seated and were seen yet not spoken to for approx 10 minutes. At least to be told we are short staffed be with you in a minute would have been nice. We finally just left. We wont be back. They dont have time for my family, so in the future my family doesnt have time for this place of business. Makes me sad, Ive eaten here before and had good service and good pizza. Very disappointed.

Poppa Rollos is the best pizza on earth. Ive been eating here since the 90s and pretty much every time we come to Waco we eat here. There is another Poppa Rollos in Hewitt, but this is the original location. Here you can find Little Rascals playing on the TV and you can find and go through hidden doors. All the pizza Ive had here is good, but the Pepperoni is the best. Dietary restrictions: They accomodate my wifes beef allergy and my daughters dairy-free diet.

We re here at least twice a week. We sit in the bar at our table and love to watch people try to find the door heading to the main restaurant and the clearly marked bathrooms. The quality waitstaff makes every visit fun end enjoyable. They remember our drinks of choice and treat us like family. Pa and Ma Rollo (Roland and Mary Duty) often come and chat with us giving us the VIP treatment. Poppa Rollo s Pizza is an important Waco landmark and everyone should come and visit. As far as my recommendations, you can never go wrong with the pepperoni pizza and ranch. The ranch dressing is the BEST in town!!

This place was really disappointing. They said there was a party, which we understood, but the party was small enough to where I m unsure of how it overwhelmed them that much. It took about 10 minutes to see a host to get seated. The waiter was short with us and kinda snappy, Isaac. It took 2 hours for us to get our pizza, and it was cold. We never saw Isaac again after we got our food and had to scramble to find someone to cash us out. Maybe it was just a bad day, but this place was incredibly disappointing and underwhelming.

This was my first and last time coming in. I ordered online for carryout. I ordered 2 large pizzas. The large regular crust works pizza had raw crust under the toppings. The large crispy taco pizza was missing all of the lettuce cheese and tomatoes. The crispy crust was chewy and soft but atleast it was cooked. I had to stand around and wait a while for my 2 liter of soda while employees stood around doing nothing and acted as if I didnt exist. This would be mediocre pizza if it was done right. Its on par with dominos but at a significant price markup. I dont understand the hype and wont be returning.

I m a sucker for the vintage pizza parlor aesthetic, so when my friend and I decided to take a day trip to Waco, I knew we had to take the chance to see Poppa Rollo s and we were underwhelmed. It took probably 10 minutes for us to be seated, despite very light crowds. Our waiter, Issac, was slow and rather inattentive. He only brought out one of our pies and when asked about the other one, rather rudely said I can t bring it out if it s not ready after we d been waiting at least 30 minutes for our pies. Would not return. Such a shame.

I dont know where to begin. I wasnt even going to leave a review, but literally, all 7 tables in the restaurant while I was here were having issues. I ordered a Rollos special, and they made the wrong pizza. The people behind me ordered a medium and when they asked if that was a medium she said it was, but we had a small and it was the exact same size and they tried to say it was the right size. 4 - 5 other tables had to wait 15+ minutes for the server to come back for a ticket. We were checked on maybe 3 times the whole time we were here. We had to visit the host station for refills. Will not be going back.

I saw a lot of cars in the parking lot and the fam was craving pizza so we decided to try this place out. I guess the restaurant is broken up into sections and we were seated in the older looking section. Kinda dark, carpet floor, a little dingy looking, so I was skeptical, but we stuck around. I saw the other side of the restaurant and it looked more updated, but we stayed where we were. A trip to the restroom alone is an adventure for sure btw! There was a loud TV in our area that was playing the Little Lucy cartoon over and over. We asked if we could change it to football. She said no...that we were in the kids room. Walking into Poppa Rollos Pizza felt like stepping into a time machine, transporting me back to a bygone era of nostalgia and charm. The atmosphere theyve created, adorned with antiques, is nothing short of remarkable. Its a true testament to the love and dedication they have for preserving the essence of classic Americana. The ambiance evokes a sense of warm nostalgia, with the Three Stooges playing on the tube, making it a truly unique and inviting place. Now, lets talk about the star of the show the pizza! Their pie is nothing short of sensational. As Dave Portnoy, the man behind the famous One Bite Everybody Knows the Rules pizza reviews, would say, I have to give it a score. Id rate their pizza a solid 7.6! The deliciousness of each bite truly speaks for itself. The flavors, the perfect balance of toppings, and the mouthwatering crust combine to create an unforgettable culinary experience. I want to commend their team for not only delivering exceptional food but also for curating an atmosphere that makes Poppa Rollos Pizza a destination in itself. Its rare to find a place where you can enjoy both delicious food and a trip down memory lane. Thank you for the wonderful memories and the delightful pizza. I look forward to returning to Poppa Rollos Pizza for more delectable slices and the heartwarming ambiance that theyve so brilliantly crafted.

Lets talk about Poppa Rollos I am a fan of good pizza and this place was highly recommended to me. I have driven by this place many times, but it never caught my attention, but it was recommended to me, and I went. Lets start with the service, it was excellent, I cant complain. The people who work there are very attentive. They are always telling you what is happening with the food, and they constantly ask you if everything is okay. Although I wait around 35-40mins and I dont understand why, overall, great service. Lets talk about the place, the Vibe, I appreciated it was a vibe like from the 30s, black and white TV shows, hidden rooms, etc. But they are trying to incorporate the Western style from the 30s mixed with Italian. I dont think that goes hand in hand. What is seem is that they just did themself a lot of decorations because some of the decorations looked like DIY, and they hung them everywhere, or so it seemed it fix. The place looks messy and pointless. The bathrooms had a strange smell, with memes that look like they hand cut them themselves and put them in a frame. I dont know, I didnt find the meaning of anything in that place! Lets talk about the food, which is why you are reading this review... When I go to a place, I try to criticize them depending on what they specialize, and I order a pizza, Mozarella Stick, and a salad... The dough from the pizza was different. The dough itself was very good, but the amounts of ingredients that they put on top are too much, as if they were hiding or trying to flavor the pizza with a lot of ingredients. I think with the dough theyre using, they dont need to bring in a tractor and just dump all those ingredients on top. Although thats why they were recommended to me, but I dont know, I cant find the logic. Mozzarella Sticks are normal, something you can buy in the frozen section at Walmart. The salad, I think that if I go to a restaurant, I hope they make me something as simple as a salad, different from how I can made at home. The salad had artificial bacon, the one that looks like play-doh, that one. Something that didnt make much sense to me since Im eating at a restaurant. Not even FastFood uses that kind of artificial bacon. Overall, I think they only use low quality ingredients, but they do a lot to counteract the low quality of their ingredients, or thats what its seems to me! I did not go with high expectations, so I was not surprised by anything I experienced in Poppa Rollos. Liked always let rate the food! Pizza 3/5 Mozzarella Stick 3/5 Salad 3/5 Service 5/5

Went here a week ago with a friend. Service was good. Our waiter was very attentive and the staff was all around friendly. I ordered the vegetarian pizza. It was good, but the heat from the pizzas being cooked lingered in the building you may want to wait until the fall when it s a lot cooler. (I get it Texas has record heat days!) They had fans blowing near us, but my friend and I left soaked in sweat.

Their food is great but they take forever and may or may not give your food to the wrong people then ask you to wait while they remake it. They also dont have a bathroom or its hard to find and the employees arent invested in helping you. Ive never had a positive experience here and Ive been multiple times. Again the pizza is very good though.

Our oldest son was able to come home for a visit on Saturday, June 24, for the first time since Christmas. My wife, our youngest son and his girlfriend, and I wanted to share some relaxing family time with him, and we all agreed to purchase Cinemark movie tickets for a showing at 3:40 p.m., preceded by a relaxing meal and time to socialize at Poppa Rollos Pizza on Valley Mills Boulevard. We arrived at Poppa Rollos at 12:50 and secured a comfortable table in the bar area by 1:00. Within five minutes, our server had taken our relatively straightforward order which included just one Giant pizza plus three waters and two sodas. Though we werent pressured for time and had enjoyed rich conversation for one solid hour without further interaction with our server, my wife left the bar area at 2:00 and went to the front of the restaurant to speak with an exceptionally nice manager. The manager apologized for our long wait and cited how Poppa Rollos had just one guy cooking in the back that afternoon. She said she would send complimentary salads to our table while we continued waiting. The server, who had a personality roughly equivalent to a bottle cap, delivered our salads by 2:10 along with a message saying Itll be about thirty more minutes for your pizza. There was no apology nor any offer to refill our drinks for the first time in one hour and ten minutes -- just a stone-faced I dont care if youre here or not vibe. After observing how others in the bar area had been served in a much more timely manner, we concluded that our server had made a mistake at some point. Perhaps she failed to submit our order for just one pizza to the kitchen altogether. By 2:40, we still had no signs of pizza coming to our table, no drink refills, and no apologies from the server. We left the establishment and decided to grab plenty of snacks at the movies that would hold us till dinner time. Though we had left plenty of cash on the table to cover our sodas and taxes, our oldest son felt badly about leaving without telling anyone, so he walked back into the restaurant to purposefully find the server and let her know we were leaving. When he found her, she still offered no apology for our one hour and forty minute wait for pizza. Instead, she said Your pizza is ready now. Does your family want it or do you want me to cancel the order? Following the movies, we ordered Marcos Pizza which was delivered hot to our home (fifteen-to-twenty minutes from their establishment) within thirty minutes. Ill be sixty-two years of age in August, and while I write reviews regularly, this is my very first totally negative review ever. Ive also never sent a steak back to a kitchen when it isnt cooked to my taste and Ive never complained to a manager in a food establishment about anything. Ive been in the Waco area for seventeen years, and Ive just never seen anything akin to the pathetic service we received at Poppa Rollos on June 24th. This was surprising and disappointing.

Papa Rollos has been an icon in Waco for decades. The inside is cool. You go through a phone booth to get to the bar, like an old speakeasy. There is also a fake wall you have to push through to get to the party room. The walls are decorated with old TV characters such as Laurel and Hardy, The Three Stooges, and The Little Rascals, and the main dining room has said shows playing all day. Its a fun blast from the past. Oh, yeah, and the pizza is AMAZING and loaded with toppings. If youre doing takeout, they have a drive-thru, and you can get two large one-topping pizzas plus a gallon of tea for $25. Theyve been running that special since the 2020 shut down, and it stuck. You cant beat that.

Parking: There are spaces behind the party/group building, but it can be an adventure getting in/out and finding a spot when its really hopping. Kid-friendliness: Kids love Poppa Rollos. Its like a proto-Meow Wolf pizza parlor.

I came through here on the way back to Austin from Dallas. My fiancé grew up going to this place and I had always had it the day after she would bring it home so this was my first time having it fresh. It is 100% better fresh and the homey vibe sold it even better. There s a little arcade and bar in the back that just made me love it more. It ll probably be something I grab on the way back whenever I travel.

The perfect family pizza place. In my opinion, it s as if an antique store was a restaurant. Also not as busy as other pizza shops like Shorty s but still offers excellent quality. Casual dining, an arcade, tv entertainment, and two reservable party rooms make this spot one of a kind in Waco! My only complaints are that the pizza is just a little too greasy, the wait may take longer than expected, and there isn t much parking at dinner time, but its all still enjoyable.

I love this place for pizza. The pizza is fantastic. It is a very nostalgic pizza parlor to visit. It reminds me of the old pizza parlors of the 50s, 60s, and 70s. This pizza place is the only place that has even comes close to the pizza inn style pizza of the 70s and 80s.

Definitely the best place in waco to get pizza in balance of atmosphere, quality, service, uniqueness, and price. I dont love everything about it but its one of my favorite places to go. Confusing I know. A general tip though is to check it out in off hours and on slow days. Theyre great even when their busy, but you will have a significantly better experience if you go when they are not. Vegetarian options: They have vegetarian options. But I dont think they can avoid cross contamination if you have any sort of intolerance. Dietary restrictions: I dont think they can avoid cross contamination, so in the case of moderate to extreme allergies, you should call ahead to inquire. Parking: The spots out front are a tight maneuver. The lot in the back is super easy to navigate, but not very well lit. Wheelchair accessibility: Technically within compliance.

The pizza is absolutely delicious and Im beyond grateful for their inclusion of gluten free and vegan options. The service has for the most part been friendly, but there have been two instances where it was pretty disappointing. The first instance occurred when my mom called and made a reservation for homecoming weekend. The reservation was lost and while they were trying to figure it out (shout out to the wait staff who were so kind and humble with the situation), the owner came out and said, you mean to tell me youre walking in at 6:00 on homecoming trying to get a table for eight? To which my mom replied that is why we made the reservation. His staff was very helpful in sorting the situation out, but as the conversation continued the owner remained snarky. The service took a long time, but again, it was homecoming weekend and we had a large group, so that is very understandable. The second instance was an issue with pricing. I asked the waitress how much extra gluten free crust cost. She was beyond sweet and said, Oh it doesnt cost extra! I then asked if cheese counted as the one complimentary topping to which she responded, no, you get another topping in addition to cheese. No extra charge. When I got the check I ended up paying 10 more dollars than I expected. I was charged both for the gluten free crust and the cheese. I brought it up to the waitress, not to argue the charge, but to let her know in case someone else asked in the future. She was so so sweet and they gave me $5 back in cash, however I was still disappointed with the miscommunication. The pizza is delicious, the waitstaff is kind, but these two experiences make it seem that the establishment struggles with organization and communication. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free crust, vegan cheese, and a list of gluten free toppings.
