Beautiful and huge park in the middle of Waco! Over 20 miles of trails! You can drive right up to the Lovers Leap overlook which offers great views of the city and land beyond. Then drive through the park and visit the Jacobs Ladder where you can walk up the steep steps and get your workout on! Dog-friendliness: Dog friendly

I absolutely love this park!! So many trails! Tennis courts, picnic areas, splash pad, BBQs, pavilions, disc golf, etc. trails for walking, biking, or horse riding. So peaceful and beautiful. Just enough people around to feel safe but little enough to get your personal time on the trail. Ive loved this place for years and always cant wait to get back!

My visit to Cameron Park in Waco was an exceptional experience that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for outdoor activities and scenic beauty. The park, with its sprawling 400 acres, offers a perfect blend of nature, recreation, and relaxation. The park s trails are a standout feature, catering to all levels of hikers and bikers. The River Trail along the Brazos River provides stunning views and is ideal for a leisurely walk or bike ride. For those seeking more of a challenge, the steep and rugged trails offer both a great workout and beautiful vistas from various lookout points. One of my favorite spots in Cameron Park is Lover s Leap. The panoramic views from this cliff overlook are breathtaking, especially at sunrise or sunset. It s a perfect place for photography, picnics, or simply taking in the natural beauty of the area. Cameron Park Zoo is another highlight within the park. The zoo is well-maintained and houses a diverse array of animals in naturalistic settings, making it a fun and educational experience for families and visitors of all ages. The park also boasts numerous picnic areas, playgrounds, and open spaces, making it an ideal spot for family gatherings and outdoor activities. The Brazos River provides opportunities for kayaking and canoeing, adding another layer of adventure for water enthusiasts. The park s cleanliness and well-maintained facilities enhance the overall experience. The restrooms and picnic areas are kept tidy, and there are plenty of benches and shaded spots to rest and enjoy the surroundings. In summary, Cameron Park in Waco is a fantastic destination for nature lovers, families, and anyone looking to enjoy a day outdoors. The variety of trails, scenic overlooks, recreational opportunities, and well-maintained amenities make it a top-notch park. Whether you re hiking, biking, picnicking, or simply relaxing, Cameron Park has something to offer everyone.

Beautiful! Not very crowded. It looks like their Frisbee course is cool because they had tons of players. My Mom cant walk far with her bum leg so we loved that you can see so much beauty from the car. We did walk a bit. I loved the animal statues, the amazing views, and the beautiful river. Playground: I didnt use the playground, but it looked really fun. Toilets: I didnt use the restrooms, but I know they are available Picnic area: There are so many picnic places. Lots of tables. Gazebos and such. Or, just bring a blanket and have a picnic under one of the bazillion shade trees.

I love the nature trail system and views here. For those that enjoy inclines and distance, I recommend parking at Circle Point, walking downhill trails towards the river then picking a direction to explore. The park is well maintained, and the trail signage and difficulty rating system are great. The bluffs, two rivers, hills, different trail surfaces, bridges, overlooks, etc. all make this a great place to unwind and exercise.

We went to Cameron Park to see the 2024 Solar Eclipse, best decision ever, the park is super clean and the restrooms are kept pristine, that is always a super plus for me, the clean restrooms because I drink a ton of water and as a woman is very discomforting not having clean facilities or near where you re going to spend a nice time. The eclipse, the people gathered there all was super neat, had a great time. Playground: There are more than enough for the kids and a lot of safe place where they can be kids and just run without getting hurt. Toilets: Clean, simple, CLEAN, I m sorry but this is so important as a woman, the only thing missing was soap, but come on everyone carries on them all that stuff so no biggie. Dog-friendliness: Love this, everyone had their dogs with them, they where on a leash and well always pick up after. Picnic area: There are BBQ facilities, benches, restrooms and garbage disposal, there is a lot of shadow because of all the big trees and also the bbq area has shade.

Came all the way from Houston to watch the solar eclipse. Tons of people gathered around to watch this once in a lifetime event and it was a great time! Tons of parking, saw people taking wedding pictures that must go hard with the eclipse at the background. Also the park is quite clean and very well maintained with park rangers constantly patrolling the area. Very nice place and would like to come again to try out the kayaking.

We know this to be Proctor Springs. It was renamed after the Camerons. This is not what the indigenous people called this park. The springs were known to heal, and Proctor Springs was known to cause you to fall in love. Sacred ground. Its clean and very serene. I stay in the North Side so the park is like my second home. Ducks turtles birds all walks of wild life if you quiet and observant. So come to Proctor Springs and become One with Nature.

They should put warnings on the danger trails with snakes, since my dog and my daughter almost stepped on it... We really dont know if it was poisonous or not? .. but the scare was great.. But we believe it was copperhead... highly poisonous .... Playground: Its cool ! And more for the children. Toilets: The bathrooms are good, I think there was a lot of activity today and thats why they looked a little dirty... but regularly when I go they are clean. Dog-friendliness: Of course... Its a family park, you can even take the chicken. Picnic area: Many areas to make your barbecue.

I love walking the trails out here and running along the pavement and over to the Riverwalk and back again. Jacobs ladder is a fun little challenge for me as well to walk and eventually jog up and down. The park always has people jogging around and enjoying life. Theres no litter scattered around, no loud disruptions. Its a most excellent place to bring family of all ages. Theres a big playground, an interactive water feature (turned on in the summer), riverside hiking paths for both beginners and more advanced hikers and runners. If you have a bike, the trails are fun for cyclists too. Ive even seen a man on a horse on the trail once! Toilets: The restrooms are clean and the toilets are never filthy or clogged. The sinks dont produce a lot of water to wash hands with though and there isnt any soap or hand sanitizer so Id recommend bringing your own or carrying some wet wipes if youre worried about germs.

We hiked the River and Johnie trails. The river trail is flat, scenic and shaded. The Johnie trail was moderate to difficult traveling up the side of the bluff. There are some very good trail signs, but many junctions with intersecting trails with no markers at all. You probably won t get lost, but may have a hard time getting to a specific location. Good parking areas and bathrooms. Nice for a city park, adding good signage makes it excellent. Toilets: Good restrooms with soap

Cameron Park, a vast 416-acre green space in Waco, has been a cornerstone of my Baylor University experience. This park, one of Texas s largest municipal parks, offers an exceptional blend of nature and recreation, seamlessly integrating the lush wilderness with the city s heart. What makes Cameron Park genuinely remarkable is its rich history and the generosity of the Cameron family, which transformed Waco s landscape. In the early 1900s, Waco had scant public green space. This changed dramatically when Mrs. Flora B. Cameron and her children donated Proctor Springs, a picturesque 100-acre tract, to the city, stipulating it must be used exclusively as a public park. This generous act laid the foundation for today s Cameron Park, which was officially dedicated in a community ceremony in 1910, attended by an estimated 12,000 to 15,000 Wacoans. The park s extensive trail system is perfect for a variety of activities, from peaceful hiking and challenging mountain bike adventures to leisurely walks along the river. The trails offer stunning views of the Brazos and Bosque Rivers, enveloped by towering trees and breathtaking cliffs. The park is also home to a vibrant 52-acre zoo, further enriching its diverse recreational offerings. The disc golf course and the splash pad are popular spots, providing unique and enjoyable experiences. The park s layout, featuring playgrounds and various areas for fishing and picnicking, makes it a perfect place for both solo exploration and family outings. The presence of climbing ladders and the natural beauty of the cliffs add an adventurous touch to the park s allure. As a Baylor student, I found Cameron Park to be an invaluable retreat a place where the wilderness meets the city, offering a serene escape from the bustle of college life. Its proximity to Baylor, coupled with its natural and historical significance, makes it a cherished part of my time in Waco. Playground: Cameron Park s playgrounds are a delight, especially for families. They offer a safe and engaging space for children to play, with a variety of equipment that caters to different ages and interests Toilets: The park is well-equipped with restrooms that are conveniently located and well-maintained. This adds to the comfort of spending extended hours in the park, whether you re hiking, picnicking, or just relaxing. Dog-friendliness: Cameron Park is a haven for dog owners. The park s open spaces, trails, and the general layout are very accommodating for dogs. It s a great place to bring your furry friend for a day out, offering plenty of space for them to explore and enjoy. Picnic area: The picnic areas in Cameron Park are ideal for a family outing or a gathering with friends. These well-appointed areas, surrounded by natural beauty, provide a perfect setting for a leisurely meal or a restful break during your park activities.

Fun, green, and beautiful scenery. Walked up a really cool set of cement stairs called Jacobs ladder, walked by the river, and enjoyed the green views.

A very nice park for biking or hiking! The bike trails can either be smooth going and easy or rough and difficult/technical. There are plenty of trails to choose to your liking, and its great and fun. Toilets: There are restrooms throughout the park at the parking lots. Picnic area: There are a lot of picnic areas, whether it be at picnic tables or on an open field.
