My boy has been here in the past and Ive been wanting to come here when I come into town from Houston, Ive been here twice and I definitely like the vibe mainly because of the service, both times our waitresses have been great and the last time o visited the owner stopped by the table bought us shots and we laughed about our Dallas Cowboys and the drinks were strong and good, Ill be back whenever Im in town

I wish I had taken a picture. So, about 2 weeks ago, somebody told me about Salty Dog. I found the online menu. Ordered a catfish dinner for pickup. It was perfect! Second time, catfish dinner also perfect! I got excited! Finally a consistently good sports pub with food! 3rd time, ordered steak fingers. Way too much batter, and overcooked. 4th time, ordered catfish dinner. They forgot the Cole slaw. 5th time, catfish dinner, it was way over battered, and they forgot the fries, and the Cole slaw was turning brown. Old cabbage? I dont know what I think now. It sucks to think I have to open the box and check everything now.

We went to the patio and were ignored. We sat for at least half an hour before I finally asked at the bar if we had to order inside.We waited another 10 minutes for the server they said would be right out after giving us a menu. Long story short by the time someone finally appeared we were on our way out . The place was dead and the service was terrible. They knew we were there and just ignored us. Don t waste your time here. It was awful.

This is a good place for a good meal regardless if its lunch or dinner. Good music, not to loud, plenty of room to walk and get around. I cant stand a restaurant that makes you feel like your not able to move or get out quick if need be. Salty dog has people of all sorts, super dressed up or just plain tshirts and jeans. The only reason I gave a 4 star on service is because there was only 1 waitress, she was super nice and handled things well for it to just be her. Food was VERY good! They also have beverages of just about any kind.

The restaruant is clean and the two times I had burgers, they were very good. The first time I walked in during the pandemic. I had to wait outside which is okay with me. I felt hosed for paying $14 for a burger with no fries. But it had two patties. Recently, I gave this place another try and I knew to order the single pattie burger this time and looked at the menu online to be prepared. I still felt hosed. The burger was very good, the fixings were fresh but I was charged $12.99 plus tax which is the price of the double pattie burger. The single is $8.99. I told the woman who handed me my order that the website needs update. I am not one to complain, just letting the establishment know. She said in a very defensive tone that the website was updated recently. I wasnt going to argue. I literally looked at the website before going in there. Add to it my tator tots were almost burned and unedible. This is probably my last visit here. Its a shame because I live nearby and want to enjoy this establishment.

Salty Dogs lunch menu is excellent. From their appetizers to the options of burgers,hotdogs,sandwiches and much more. My favorite so far is the fried mushrooms with a side of ranch and fried pickles. Delicious ! The basket choices are great and really recommended you try from the burger choices. You wont be regret it. Cant wait to become a regular to try everything else. Also great to go watch football games. Tons of tvs with an outdoor covered area aswell. Beer wine and full bar. Great atmosphere. Parking: Its in a plaza so plenty of parking.

Dont like crowds, Salty Dog was recommended by a friend... came here for lunch with a few beers. Was hard to leave, the service was great, not constantly over our shoulders, just enough to keep cold drinks and make sure food was okay (the food is fantastic). Enjoyed a quiet table on the patio next to the fireplace, beautiful spot to enjoy midday with friends and/or family. We talked current events, theology, told jokes and reminisced about good memories, dont hesitate to enjoy a meal here, a gem in this area!

This is a nice comfortable place to have some food and watch a game with a group of friends. I went to this restaurant for dinner with a group of friends. The service was friendly and attentive, but the food was nothing to write home about. I ordered the home wrecker dog bowl, which was decent but not very flavorful. Too much stuff in the bowl and it had a kind of gross look. The portions were very large. The fries that came with my friends food were very dry. The restaurant was clean and cozy, but the ambiance was nothing special. I would give this place 3 out of 5, based on the overall experience. It was an average experience that did not impress me or disappoint me too much. The small menu of draft beers was okay. Had all the regular beers that anyone would expect to have in a sports bar.

I found this establishment to be a very pleasant experience. A very large and tasty menu with a variety of selections at very reasonable prices. I had the Salt Dog hot dog which was delicious and ample. There was plenty of room with seating for at least 60 or more people. There are at least 40 big screen tvs. The servers and service were exceptional! I will be back often to sample more of the menu options and enjoy the company of the servers again!!

Were to start? Ive eaten at Salty Dog (SD) multiple times with my family and Ive always enjoyed it. In fact, Ive even left a positive review on here about them. That all changed Sunday. My husband, my child, and I paid a visit to Salty Dog this past weekend. We walked in at around 11am. We placed our drink order around 11:05 and quickly received our drinks. This seemed to be pretty standard for the place, so no surprises there. Things soon started to foreshadow a change. It took almost twenty minutes for the waiter to come back and take our food order. SD had introduced a brunch menu. While I was enthusiastic about trying something new, I was a bit disappointed that I couldnt get my old favorite. Change is good though, right?By 11:30, my husband received his burger, the brunch burger. I was told that my order (the chicken and waffle) would be out shortly. To appease my toddler (who I would be sharing my meal with as there was no childrens menu or offer of any child friendly sides), my husband and I quickly went through his fries, passing them to our kid. All three of us enjoyed them. At 11:55, my food still hadnt arrived. I was about to flag down our waiter, who had focused his attention on the larger table off to the left of the bar for the bulk of our visit and who had not checked on us in 25 minutes, to cancel my order. I had finally run out of patience. Seriously, how long does it take to fry up a couple of chicken tenders and a waffle? At 11:58, my plate finally arrived...28 minutes AFTER my husbands!!! The waffle looked burned and the chicken tenders were beyond dry. The food was a disaster. Our waiter disappeared again with no offer of refills on our water or to ask if we wanted another drink. My husbands burger was just as lacking in flavor. Usually, the burgers there are amazing, but this one was bland and almost boring. The icing on the cake was when we finally received our ticked at 12:15 or so...after our waiter again graced us with his presence for the first time since dropping off my plate. I asked for a to-go box and the check. On the check, as if to add insult to injury, was a new charge that I had never seen at SD before: a NON-CASH ADJUSTMENT FEE of almost $3. That was added to the $28 bill which brought our total to $31. We were flabbergasted! My husband went to see if the fee could be removed, but our waiter acted as if we were speaking a foreign language. Do yourself a favor and do NOT go here. I know it will not be on my go-to list of places to eat in Waco again. Good luck, Salty Dog. I hope the service fee was worth it. Youve lost a paying customer because of the fee you tacked on AND the horrendous service and food. Kid-friendliness: It was anything but kid friendly.

Good food, but service has gone way downhill and they have begun adding a non cash payment fee, before knowing what method of payment I would be using. No thank you. I got my food a full 20 minutes before my wife got hers so by the time I ate my food was cold. Used to be a favorite place of mine till recently. Another recent change for the worse is, at least on Sunday, they switched to a smaller more bland brunch menu. This place is no longer worth your time or money. I was so disappointed with the experience me and boyfriend just encountered. The lady at the front entrance made us feel like we didn t belong there because we were the only African Americans there She did everything possible to avoid cleaning a table for us. Then she told us we could go sit in the back basically separated from everyone else. Never thought I would ever have to experience this.. We used to go here quite a bit! We always order the nachos which were served on a pizza pie pan. We went in after a long absence last night. Ordered our favorite. Not only did they raise the price and I DO understand food cost. But they cut the portion. So heres my message to the DOG raise the price,, retain the portions cuz! thats why we come here. I DONT REJECT PRICE I REJECT CUTTING PORTIONS & RAISING $ The inference is raise the price to whatever you have to be to be profitable. But you cannot do both. People will pay the price for the proper serving portion! Your establishment theres a fine example build-it-and-they-will-come

Stopped for a quick beer and had Salty Balls appetizers. Food came out quick and was very good. Service was great on the patio. Only complaint about the patio was the smoke shack next to the outdoor space that at times covers the area in smoke.

Had a taste for a good burger. Salty Dog is one of my go-to place to scratch my itch when such a burger craving hits. Somehow, my son talked me into trying something different, and the Homewrecker was my choice. Kinda threw me off when it arrived in a stainless steel dog bowl, but it was really kinda cool. I took one bite and I was hooked! It tasted way better than it even looked. There was a huge serving in that bowl. I couldn t even finish it and left feeling fat as a tick. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her burger, which was no suprise, and their fried squash was as wonderful as always. The only detractions I would have was that they seemed understaffed and the poor waitress had her hands full keeping up; but she did. Definitely a once to twice a month stop-in for my crew .

Had to wait 38 minutes for a adult beverage. Food was served n a dog bowl. ?? Not very appetizing. Grease needs to be chgd out. Nasty fries n tots. Hair in toppings for burger; Lettuce, tomatoes for avocado sour. Will not return. Our server was great kept apologizing for the food The sour faced b/tender behind the bar needs to get another job.

First time there. Told Mom I was taking her out to supper for her birthday. A friend of hers told her about the Salty Dog and she asked if we could go there. Wierdest thing ever...walking into a bar with my Mom lol. We got there around 7pm on a Tuesday. Atmosphere was great. It wasnt crowded but there were several tables there. Music was fantastic. I heard songs I hadnt heard in decades. The food was amazing. We definitely plan on returning in the near future. Mom has decided shes going to try 90% of the menu
