Tyler State Park is a true gem, offering a wide range of attractions for outdoor enthusiasts. From scenic hiking trails and peaceful lake views to well-maintained picnic areas, the park provides a perfect escape into nature. The recent updates to the check-in plaza have made the experience even smoother and more convenient. A big thank you to the park staff for their dedication to making this beautiful place even more enjoyable!

Beautiful surprise on our long drive. I didn t want to leave. The sites are spacious with nice tables and fire pits. We lucked out and got a spot with our sliding door opening right out to the water. It was quiet even though the park was pretty full. I would definitely go back if we come through that part of Texas again.

Ill give it 4 and would probably be a 4.5 had I wrote this review 5 years ago but its a 3.5 right now due to some lost amenities. The lake is always nice and usually a little cooler than the other lake around Tyler, fishing is decent and the mountain bike trail is challenging but fun. Heres my gripe, the up keep on some stuff is lacking, there use to be 2 fishing piers, the one I favored is gone, Im not sure why but its gone, next the floating dock in the swimming area that my kids love is falling apart, theres no ladder any more, and it just looks questionable.

Beautiful park. We came in September. We attempted the EZ Trail with bikes-pretty overgrown and very difficult with the sandy soil. Playground is great for older kids. Lots of families visiting, but it didn t feel crowded. Children must be older than 1 to go on paddle boat. Playground: Fantastic shaded playground for older kids with plenty of picnic tables nearby.

Beautiful park with good facilities and friendly rangers. Plenty of picturesque forest trails and a great lake for kayaks, SUP, or paddle boats (which can be rented on site). We brought our dog and camped at a tent site and had a blast! We have visited multiple times both for day use and overnight camping and have thoroughly enjoyed our time there! Toilets: The restrooms were clean and functional. Some of the bath houses were a little old with some wear and tear, but all still worked totally fine. Dog-friendliness: Dogs are not allowed in the cabins or the day-use swimming area, but a kind ranger was able to direct us to a picnic area at Brown Point that allowed dogs and had good lake access for swimming.

This is our favorite park to visit in North Texas. It is beautiful, the trails are amazing and the campsites are well kept. The bathrooms by the beach need a good cleaning from bugs and spider webs. But most of the other bathrooms and showers are well kept. Pay it a visit and get the family outside for an adventure.

Katie Stone at the boat rental store had a notably poor attitude while we were trying to decide what to rent. We entered with a friendly, We d like to rent some kayaks and paddleboards:D, and she responded with, Okay... well, I need to know which ones you want. As we were discussing amongst ourselves how many paddleboards and kayaks we needed we said I want a paddleboard, i think he wants a kayak and as we are deciding what the third person in our party wants Katie interrupted AGAIN with, well I need to know how MANY paddleboards and kayaks you want. i wasnt ready to give her an answer as we were still discussing our options. she could have simply gave us a thats fine get back to me when when you guys decide what u want to rent or if you need anything else rather than acting as though we were wasting her time or having a complete disinterest in helping us from the moment we spoke to her. mind you, it s a monday, there was no one else in the store to help but us so i dont understand why she continued to rush us through the whole process the lady at the check in desk at the front of the park was the nicest, kind, and helpful person we talked to while we were there and i hope nothing but the best for her<3

Great family park and camping. We enjoyed a different part of TX. Camping bathroom facilities are decent but could be cleaned more often. There are plenty of water activities and nice scenery. You can find plenty of trails to explore and stay active. Shelters are placed well, and we did not feel too close to our neighbors. Its definitely a place to visit. It did not feel crowded and had plenty of picnic tables throughout the park close to the water and play area. Dogs are allowed but must stay on leash and, like all State Parks, they are not allowed in park buildings. They also can not be in the day use water are but can be anywhere else along the shore line. We had no issues with our 3 fur babies.

We leave the city to hear the sounds of nature, yet Texas State Parks sound no different than urban noise. Frankly it s embarrassing. We just returned from Tyler State Park this weekend, its a beautiful park with great trails for hiking. However, the Tyler State park staff has allowed the park to be the party place, where boom boxes drown out nature. How ironic that the staff rides around yelling from the drivers seat, you need to put your tag up! They are yelling over the boombox! ;)

This is a beautiful CCC state park nestled in the pine trees. The hiking trails are easy and so peaceful (the whispering pines trail is a true delight - thanks CCC men)! The spring-fed lake is a treasure in the summertime. There s lots of green grass to spread out on and the water is super nice. This place is a true oasis for a desert-dweller, like myself. Everything is so green and alive! We visited on Memorial Day weekend and it was definitely busy, but never felt insane. I highly recommend spending time here. Toilets: Restrooms are basic. The bathing house by the lake has toilets, showers, and changing rooms. Pretty clean for the amount of people there. The showers by the cabins are not great - really misty, so it feels hard to get clean. Picnic area: There are plenty of day use areas throughout the park with tables and grills.

Having a great time! The store is really nice with an ample amount of shady seating outside which is also at the swim area. We loved the idea of having peddle boats, kayaks, and row boats available for rental. Arrive early with a wagon with all your belongings . Parking there is limited and fills up quickly. We stayed in the Dogwood Ridge area. It is for primitive camping. We did ride around to see other areas. The Lakeview area was our favorite for pitching a tent AND it has electricity . Our 2nd most favorite was Blackjack Savannah. The shelter cabin areas were super nice. Toilets: Our restroom was a bit far and was shared with another area, not the best restrooms in the park. The nicest restrooms in the park were in the Big Pine trailor only/ Lakeview area. The restrooms in the Blackjack Savannah area was fairly nice and clean. Dog-friendliness: Dogs are welcome everywhere except the store. Bring doggie bags for cleanup. Picnic area: The picnic area at the store was super nice, great table/ chairs, shady, all near the store. Make sure you are dry prior to entering the store.

A picturesque state park and lake surrounded by green trees. Plenty of hiking trails, campsites, and a store make this a great getaway. You can rent paddle boards, boats, and kayaks. There is a floating dock for swimming and a pier for fishing. The lake is small, so no skiing or wakeboarding. And I can see it getting crowded on summer weekends. Super accessible just minutes off I-20. Whether it s a day trip or an extended stay, this place is what you re looking for.

Boat rental employees are rude. We brought two of our own kayaks and needed to rent one for one of the kids. We asked if we could borrow a couple life jackets, the answer was no. He told us to go in the shop and ask, we did, they said they don t rent the life jackets but we can buy them for almost $20 something a piece. When asking if we could just change to a two person kayak instead of a single the guy gave us attitude about not being able to do this and that. At this point we kindly asked for a refund and left. Honestly, we re paying to get into the park, paying to use the rentals didn t think it be a big deal to borrow 2 life jackets but it was the pompous not caring attitude that made us never want to go again which is sad because we live so close to there.

We stayed for a long weekend in one of the cabins. We came just after some of the heaviest rain since Harvey but the ground wasn t muddy in most places. All the rain made for great mushroom pictures. The cabin had a small refrigerator and microwave and a nice new table. We were in cabin 6 and there is a stream right next to it. I liked having the stream so close. The bathrooms near by were set up a little different. It was four separate bathrooms each with a toilet, sink and shower. I like the idea but the execution wasn t great. The toilets are push button and don t have a strong flush. Holding the button does not make them flush more so sometimes you have to flush two or three times to get everything down. I think this contributed to finding unflushed toilets more often than usual. The showers have one recessed soap tray so if you shower with more then a bar of soap there isn t much room to put things. I was using hotel bottle shampoo so I was able to make do. There are also no benches like most state park showers have. There are a few hooks by the sinks so we made it work with some grocery bags but benches by the showers would be better. The park has a good amount of trails and a great park store. There are also canoes, kayaks and paddle boats for rent at the store.

The park itself was beautiful, the camp checkers in the morning however, the not freindly at all. We had reserved a reservation for 2 nights ahead of time and it was all paid for. We arrived post office close the first night and went down to our campsite, they told us someone would come by in the morning. Then we could run up to the office and get our pass. He did come by and was pretty unfriendly but not horrible. The next day, after having our accurate pass, someone came ny in the morning to check again. I went over to say hello and to confirm we had until noon. Incredibly rude off the bat and wouldnt respond to me, I asked again, do we have until noon? Nothing.... just staring at a scope into my vehicle where the pass is clearly displayed. Some common decency would have been nice, Im not sure why you would work at a park if you have such a nasty, displeasurable attitude. The park was absolutely lovely but the employees need some work.

Beautiful park and well-kept facilities! There is one main loop road that goes throughout the entire park making it easy to find your way around. Nice little fishing area and swimming area as well.

This was a great camp ground. We camped in a tent near the lake! They had restrooms nearby and wood available for our fire! We felt very safe and our camping neighbors were very friendly. We made the trip to see the eclipse all the way from Florida! It was so worth it! We did have a crazy night with some rambunctious racoons! Make sure to hide your food in your car before sleeping. Also if a hotdog accidentally falls in the fire dont leave it there because you might be awoken to two racoons fighting over it at midnight lol Toilets: Very clean and near our camp site Dog-friendliness: Everyone had their dogs and they were all so cute!

First time visiting Tyler State Park. The park is very clean and well maintained. I was hoping to photograph some birds but didn t have any luck but I did find a small waterfall on the whispering pines trail. Seems like a great place to bring the family and camp. The staff was also extremely nice. Toilets: Clean, that is all that matters ;)

The park is absolutely BEAUTIFUL and well maintained. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We visited during the solar eclipse and had the best time! We didnt get to hike bc we had limited time. We drove 6 hrs to see the eclipse at tyler state park and we were not disappointed! Will definitely be back! The kids did get to kayak and they loved it! Toilets: Clean and had showers

I havent been to many state parks (Brazos Bend, Martin Dies, Lake Livingston, Stephen F. Austin, Enchanted Rock, Pedernales Falls), but this is our new favorite state park. So glad we came here this week. Playground: Several playground areas. Toilets: Plentiful, clean restrooms. Dog-friendliness: Pets were allowed in marked areas of the park. Picnic area: Many (!!!) picnic tables and areas throughout the park - most were covered.

Just a beautiful park with very friendly and helpful employees. We stayed for four nights in our mtrhm with full hookups. We had to switch sites as it was so busy but we didnt mind. Campground is so spaced well we couldnt tell when it was sold out. At the store all types of boats for rent at very reasonable prices. Strongly reccomend

Trails - very good! Fishing ? Nah. Nope. Nada. No. Should be called Tyler State Turtle park. Turtles literally everywhere in the water. Friend rented a boat to get away from the shoreline, she said several looked like they had life jackets on. Lol...too many out there, also.

My wife and I are new to Lindale. We loved walking the trails at Abilene State Park. Since moving here we have gone to Tyler State Park and truly enjoy the walking trail around the lake. We will be renting and/bringing a canoe or kayak. The park is beautiful with great campsites and RV hook ups as well. Don t forget picnic areas and a playground. Perfect for a family getaway for a get away and get outdoors.

Nice small park with fishing lake and hiking/biking trails. There are some very nice RV spaces right on the banks of the lake. Good luck snagging one of those. They have canoe and kayak rentals. It was rainy while we were there, so we didnt get to do much. I gave them 4 stars only because the park hosts in our area were nowhere to be found, until we went for one of our walks. As we neared the restrooms, on our way around the lake, he said, You cant take your dog in there. I said,What makes you think I was taking my dog in the restroom? The reason it rubbed me the wrong way was the fact they were MIA while our neighbor let their dog roam free and poop in the grass where kids played. The hosts wife was no better. She was outside their RV, and we said, Hi. She just looked at us. No smile and no reply. I dont know about you, but I was taught to be polite and respond when spoken to. But dont let some poor park hosts deter you from going. Its beautiful. Well go back. Toilets: Dont take your dog in there.
