I was looking forward to tmy visit to the Tyler Rose Gardens and was excited to see some of the 32,000 roses bushes in bloom, so the 3.5 hours drive didnt seem too high a price. To say I was very disappointed would be an understatement. I hoped for A but got B... The drive back was even longer. I give it two stars only because there were some near-spent climbing roses along the exterior walls. No mention of maintenance on their website.

Beautiful location. Calm and quiet city. Beautiful fountains all around the garden. We had a nice day trip to Rose Garden with kids. Since it is September, there were not many flowers... but there were some of it. Smells good, while walking through the rose aisles... It is definitely a travel location. We went on Memorial Day. The garden was open, but the museum was closed. Most of the things were closed because of the holiday. We knew it before we were going there, beautiful city .

Toilets: Restroom Available. I failed to understand why water/wipes is not available in the toile. Sometimes

Ive always loved the Tyler Rose Gardens. Have been visiting there since I was a young child, with my parents and grandparents, over 45 years. I now visit yearly with my daughter, who loves it as much as I do. The layout is so beautiful. Along with the gorgeous, multitudinous roses, are rolling green lawns, lovely fountains, a small pond, and large shade trees with many benches to sit and relax while enjoying the gardens. Inside the rose center are a museum, a lovely gift shop, and very nice restrooms. One can spend hours wandering the many areas of these pretty, well maintained gardens. Playground: No playground. It is advised to stay on the garden paths. Toilets: Very clean, indoor restrooms. Dog-friendliness: No pets allowed. Picnic area: Picnic tables in a nice shaded grove near the garden entrance.

The main attraction is a large variety of roses planted in an array of flower beds (a living collection begun in 1952), however, other parts of the garden showcase decorative shrubs, such as crepe myrtles, Japanese maples, and camelias. Also, a small Idea Garden showcases the work of the local Texas Master Gardeners. Not a bad place for birdwatch, either - cedar waxwings, brown-headed nuthatches, and white-breasted nuthatches, among others were present during my last visit here in January. Playground: None. Toilets: Available in the adjoining museum. Dog-friendliness: Dogs can easily be led through here. Picnic area: Picnic tables are available.

Its our fault. December is obviously not the best time to visit for the roses and we tired too quickly to stay for the after-dusk lights.
