Needs more inventory in the Pistol/Rifle department. And Im both a current Teacher AND a Retired veteran. I wish you would stack our discounts and train the cashiers better to understand HOW to apply the discounts without all my receipts and identifications, there has to be a simpler way, Technology update maybe?? Idk. Its still a good source for most of my needs and the employees ARE friendly.

Updated. Im revising this review bc i do not feel the entire store and staff should be judged by one rude manager. The other manager i interextes with and customer staff were extrmemeky friendly and apologetic when i returned to picked up my items. This is the worst customer service store. Todd the manager could care less about how to run a store. We were not given some of our items and they blames us for not grabbing the bag. After the clerk handed us the two bags. Lazy lazy lazy. Second year in a row we ask for pool salt. Told by the kids working they don t have anyway. I pull up the website and they have over 30 in stock. I even ask if they have it in back. Nope! Manager goes and looks. Sure enough, there it is. Today we had the 60 year old woman manager climbing on a ladder to get the 40# bags down while the 20ish young man watched her do it. 30 minute trip for four bags of salt. Took contact with 6 employees today and finally the manager to actually get the product. Bet they think they re underpaid too. Crazy.

This review is not actually for this Tomball location. Its for the sales representative that finally helped me find this pool I wanted to purchase. After seeing each of these Academy Sports individual websites: Conroe, Huntsville, The Woodlands, Humble, New Caney, and Tomballs, and noticing all to have the pool in stock, calling each store separately, I only hit brick walls. I decided to see if there was a corporate website. I ended up finding a sales person named Chastity. This sweet person took hold of my frustration and found my pool! She told me that she would call around and let me take a break! She called me back and within two hours, I had it in my truck! Thank you Chastity!! Wherever you are! You did what FIVE people couldnt or wouldnt do. You made my day!!!

The gentleman, Keith in the shoe department, went above and beyond helping me.. I come to buy work shoes for my husband every 4 to 6 months cause he wears them out and he doesn t take the time to come into the store so I buy anywhere from 6 to 8 pair bring them home and let him try them all on he usually keeps half of them. Keith was so helpful I was trying to find a 10 1/2 wide and he spent a good 40 minutes with me searching and working on the hand pilot and we found all these pairs of shoes. I really appreciate him. I will definitely be looking for Keith.

I went in yesterday evening to find a pair of shoes. I wear size 11 so they can be hard to find. I definitely had a budget but I needed them to be comfortable and fit well. I passed Trent and he asked me if I needed any help with a great smile. I told him no thank you because I was just going to peruse the shoes by myself. Later he caught me looking through the shelves and asked me again if he could help me so I told him what I was looking for. He found me like five pair in 10 minutes which is so much faster than I wouldve found them. He was friendly and helpful and his attitude is amazing. I was so grateful for him. He cut the shoe shopping time way down and found me a great pair of shoes. Thank you to Trent and the rest of the staff because everybody there is great. I always go back to that store because of the way that they treat me and because of the great selection they have.

Great Academy store! JT and his staff go out of their way to make sure you have a good experience in this location. I purchased a BBQ/Smoker and some accessories and used a discount code at the online checkout. The discount wasnt applied correctly online. I spoke with JT and we ended up canceling the online purchase. Then I repurchased the same items in store with the proper discount! It resulted in a good savings and showed that Academy will back their offers and correct mistakes without a problem. Give this Academy your business---you wont be sorry.

Out of all the Academy stores around, this one is by far one of my favorites. Staff are always friendly and readily available to help you with whatever you need. Plenty of items in stock, too. We shop here all the time and its always a great experience.. this time was no different, we spent close to $2000 on kayaks one of which once we got loaded we noticed was damaged. Academy is a great place to find camping and outdoor related items. Great sports and bbq selection with plenty of clothes. The biggest issue with the Tomball location is lack of cashiers per hour. Most of the time, there will be two or three cashiers on with 20 customers in each line. If you want to wait a while, and then get pushed on about a credit card, then be ready for that.

Things are well organized here. It was nice that there was a greeter even in the late hours. The store is well categorized and the employees are very helpful. There is always something on sale so youre always saving while spending.
