I ordered the sweet tofu and brown rice. The tofu was super hard. The sauce was very syrupy and rested at the bottom of the bowl. The rice was okay.

This place has REALLY gone downhill it s at rock bottom now. Food is bad to mediocre. Egg rolls taste like they were fried in last month s oil. No concept of customer service. I recently placed a to-go order (my last). They left out the rice in my order (which has happened before). I drove the 20 minutes back the restaurant. The young woman ( the only employee I saw) just said sorry about that . I asked to speak to a manager, but there was not one there. Skip Chef Chan s. There are much better options available in the area (like the new Charm on Research Forest).

our order tonight was absolutely horrible. Weve ordered from Chef Chans before, and it used to be the best. the only thing good tonight was the sweet and sour soup. The chef Chans beef tasted like it was cooked in leftover fish oil ,it was not crispy. The sesame chicken tasted just like the beef, also as if there was tons of beef bouillon and syrup to make the sauce. Lemon chicken was all breaded mush. Everything was mushy , bready and extremely salty. For $78.00 it would have been better for me to just buy the yummy soup and make my own food at home

Same as the other recent reviews.. this place has gone way downhill. We have been going here for years and the quality is just gone. Massive strange black utensils that show how dirty they are and teeth marks, very expensive, small portions, tough chicken, terrible fried rice, and no longer a friendly place to eat. Sad day

Editing my review: weve been ordering here for a while, but whatever theyve done recently is no bueno. They must have doubled the salt in the wonton soup, its bad. Like really salty. Theyve raised prices, and the food tastes different. Solidly meh now, when before its been great. If this has been your usual Chinese food go to place, be aware of the change!

We have frequented Chef Chef s for a number of years but today will be our last visit. The food was not as in the past; smaller portions, more expensive, changed the decor and all the serving hardware , as in plates, utensils, drink ware, etc. have been changed, and not for the better. I don t know if this is in anticipation of a new Asian Fusion restaurant opening in the same area soon or that a remodel/update to the shopping center is prompting higher rent. In any case, they just lost a once a week customer.

I ve been ordering from Chef Chan at Switchbud Pl. for over 20 years. Today s order was the first time the food was really awful. The place was nice and they were quick. I ordered 4 entrees and total was like $65. The portions were good size. I got Orange chicken, general tsao chicken, and beef and broccoli, and a beef lomein . In my opinion, everything kind of tastes the same (like soy sauce) Nothing really had a distinct flavor. I am writing this review in hopes that the owner or manager will see this... The beef in the beef&broccoli was rotten... had a fishy smell And Dared not to try it.

American style Chinese that is definitely subpar and overpriced. Orange chicken was drenched and sitting in a pool of sauce, and the chicken lo mein was layered with sodium. Perhaps the people of The Woodlands like this style of Chinese food given the reviews, but it was not appetizing to me. And 2 meh dishes for $30 is outrageous. There are freezer units sitting around near the bathrooms and an overall lack of care to details. Our server was fine but didnt expect more than that once we walked into the restaurant.

Horrible. Got the peppered chicken it was basically beef gravy dumped over boiled chicken do not order that it is disgusting. General TSO chicken was good but had tons of red food coloring. Fried rice had zero taste. The only thing that actually taste good with the iced tea. Definitely won t be back not even worthy of a second chance. WAY OVERPRICED 50 is a rip off for two people. Update: 8/16/23 2nd visit Got takeout to see if things have changed. Food still is garbage chicken was so tough almost could not even swallow. It do not waste your money at this is the quality is very low

If you think this is your average chinese restaurant. you are wrong. You may notice the food is a bit more pricey than other places, but I promise you it is worth the quality, flavor and portion sizes you get. We had crab cheese puffs, subgum low mein w/ mixed meats and the sesame beef. All dishes were delicious. Lately, it seems like finding a good low mein around here is impossible, it either has no noodles, fried noodles, or no flavor. This did NOT disappoint. The sesame beef was heavenly, lightly crisped with a sweet and tangy sauce. Crab puffs were not overly crab heavy and had a yummy cream cheese filling. We really enjoyed our meal and will definitely be back again.

The environment is near and clean. The atmosphere is good. The gentleman behind the counter was genuine. HOT & SOUR SOUP - when I have Chinese hot and sour soup is a must have. I asked to please make it spicy. I was told its pre-made. To further disappoint me it had way to much vinegar and was extremely sour. And it was thick like 70 weight gravey. UNAPPEALING and the worst soup by far I have had. FRIED WONTON - WONTON is expensive and made to oder. Just a tip when you make to order the noodles are under cooked and still taste raw. They should aerate at lease 24hrs. BEEF w/ BAMBOO AND MUSHOOMS - was delicious. The perfect flavor and worth ordering. The meat was tender and the vegetables were crisp.

This not the first time I have eaten there. The staff makes you feel like youre home. The Chinese food is the best in the Woodlands. There Hot and sour is right on the money. The spicy sesame cold noodles is the best and I tried many different places in The Woodlands area and in Katy and chefs chans is perfect. One of my favorite dishes is shredded pork with Peking sauce. The egg drop soup is one of my wifes favorites. The pork fried rice taste just like New York City Chinatown food many of the dishes on their menu have that New York City Chinatown taste if youre looking for good Chinese food and and this is the place to try I would say I start off with a bowl of hot and sour soup and have some of the pork fried dumplings and their shrimp toast is perfect also their Chinese style mustard reminds me of Chinatown mustard another great dish that I like is the shredded pork with garlic sauce it has just enough of pork and enough vegetables to balance the dish out

It had no vegetables other than water chestnuts. It was awful! The reason I am giving 2 stars and not 1 is the wonton soup & crab puffs were quite good. But our main dish was inedible. It was also pricy - $90 for 4 people. We wasted our money.

This place used to be my favorite place to go eat! Unfortunately not anymore sad face. We came to eat and the services mediocre because I couldnt tell who was our server. We had to servers didnt know like the knew the menu and bad service. Egg drop soup was great! But the moisture pork was not good like it usually is and neither was the orange chicken. Everything had the same bland flavors.

Experience was nice. Not crowed at all. The food was just hot but didn t really get major likes on taste. The wife kept asking what was wrong. I realized she knew we had better and most the time I was thinking how the food tasted. I don t see us coming back here. The food wasn t good.

Was going to try this restaurant. Big sign saying you must wear a mask to enter, and must wash hands to enter. And they had a table with soap/sanitizer outside the door. Sorry, Texas is open. Not eating here.

I ordered delivery on Monday June 14th. When the driver got here he is very polite that s why this is not a 1 star review. I ordered 2 orders of chicken with 2 orders of rice in the side which was 32$! The order did not come with the both of the rice only one rice. portion of one of the chickens was very small. I had like 8$ worth of food and paid 32$ and tipped 10$ for the driver. 42$ for a subpar meal I was expecting more from this establishment.

This place has been our favorite Chinese restaurant for probably about 10 years. Keeping a restaurant open is never easy, much less when you have steep local and corporate competition, and Chef Chans has done it for like 40 years?! The prices are super affordable. My wife and I drop like $60 and end up with more food than we can eat in three meals. Everything is always hot, deliciously seasoned, and fresh. Sometimes theyll have an entire order ready in 10 minutes or less. Their kitchen team must operate like a well oiled machine, and delivery is always quick and accurate. Never had a problem with an incorrect order, never been charged incorrectly, and never received food that was less than delicious.

We are new to the area decided to try this place out. I have to say I was very disappointed. The chicken was dry and stringy, the steamed rice was crunchy, didn t tell me how much nor did I receive a receipt. I logged on to my account and found out it cost me $40 for this food. One star for delivery and egg roll.
