This place does not disappoint! My kids and I are beachcombers and had heard there were some nice pickings at the Dike. You do have to pay a $10 entrance fee (Fri-Sun), but its worth it. Theres plenty of piers to walk out on and fish, boat ramps to load and unload your water toys, port-o-cans for restroom needs, and PLENTY of shell beds to comb through! There arent many safe ocean entries for swimmers, if any, so this is not the spot to go for swimming.

BE CAREFUL Parents THERE ARE A LOT OF JELLYFISH and even more so if you have children they stung one of my children all over his legs and hands and my husband too and they were walking on the edge of the water other families told me that they stung their children too and another family told me They took a jellyfish out of the water, Ill leave you the photos that you can half appreciate, but apart from everything its very beautiful because its very calm and the sunsets are beautiful.

Went there to play Pokemon Go, I heard there were shinies here. I found there are no more than usual so this is confirmed NOT a shiny row. But there are plenty of Pokemon with some stops and gyms. There s mosquitos. Our car was swarmed (black cloud swarm) by bees at the exit when leaving (not sure if this was random or not) In thankful my windows were up. The gate staff were very nice. Workers picking up trash and emptying porta potties in the morning. Lots of places to park. $10 to get in and pass gets you in and out all day.

The entry fee was $20 instead of $10 because of the holiday. The Dike was pretty clean. My family and I went fishing here, and swam. Nice Beach environment! The water is brown, not blue like the website, but it was clear of debris unlike Galveston. I would suggest getting there no later than 7am to find a good place to park and setup your area. By 10am the Dike gets packed. I recommend giving the place a try.

Texas, a vast land full of history, where the spirit of independence and adventure are intertwined in every corner. From the vast plains to the majestic mountains, Texas offers a diverse and picturesque landscape that captivates the heart and feeds the soul. Its endless skies stretch out like a canvas, painted in shades of orange at dusk and dotted with bright stars at night. The sounds of Tejano music fill the air, while the aroma of smoky barbecue invites you to enjoy the culinary delights of the region. But beyond its natural beauty and rich culture, it is the warmth and hospitality of its people that makes Texas truly special. From bustling cities to quaint towns, each location is infused with a sense of community and Texas pride that is contagious. With every story shared and every smile offered, there is a sense of genuine Southern hospitality that makes every visitor feel at home. I look forward to exploring its corners, immersing myself in its culture and discovering the magic that only Texas can offer.

It was cool seeing the ships and pelicans in the area. Its a 5 mile drive one way from the mainland to get to the end of the dike before you have to turn back around. Lots of room on both sides to park, and its great for fishing, hunting for seashells, checking out different birds, especially the sandpipers, seagulls and pelicans. The only thing I had a serious problem with was the porta-potties; they were all filthy and disgusting, and look like they havent been serviced as regularly as they should be.

It s a nice place for fishing and relaxing, highly recommended for family activities. On the right side of the dike, we fish while on the left we can swim, picnic (there are shelters)and also fish. We always go on the weekends, so there s $10 entry fee per car. Free entry during the winter time. We usually get sheephead, red and black drums and sharks. On the left side(beach side) there are flounders. Potable toilets are available along the beach side and plenty of trash cans on both sides. Ice cream trucks also drive up and down the dike often. The only downside is there are alot of trash on rock sides; plastic containers, empty cans and glass bottles between rocks.

Went on Memorial Day weekend and they were charging $20. It was pretty crowded but we were still able to find a spot to park. It is always a nice place to relax and enjoy the views, however, I kept getting distracted by the trash that people refused to pick up and dispose of properly. The trash cans were also flooded with a bunch of trash so there was no where to really throw it unless you wanted to walk to another trash can which was more than likely also filled to the brim.
