My husband and I have been here plenty of times and weve always had a great experience. However, today the service we received was exceptional thanks to our waitress Dee Dee. She was welcoming, prompt, and very helpful. The food was amazing as usual but Dee Dees professionalism and cheerfulness stole the show! Cheeves will always be my go -to when Im looking for a guaranteed quality dining experience here in Temple.

Great Atmosphere and Attentive service, food was late coming but with wine, cocktails and beautiful company we just enjoyed our conversations with mouthwatering appetizers. Dinner was delicious. I recommend the shrimp bisque soup which left a tantalizing memory. Grateful for your continuous Name and Brand. Cheeves

Overall above average experience. We were promptly seated, but the service was on the slow side. It took a while for the drink menu and our server to check in on us, but overall no big deal. The inside had a rustic feel to it. It was clean and spacious. The food was also above average. It was maybe on the pricier end for the overall quality, but not exponentially overpriced.

Good as always. But day staff. We took Tuarean York and his mother/my cousin to a send off before college. I had to call 2 to 3 times before someone answered to make reservations. Asked if someone was there to write something custom on dessert for him. The man I spoke to said basically no, and just hung up on me. But after our arrival, the same man came out excited about Taurean and asked for pics. Perhaps I shouldve name dropped on the call. I still go with my aunt and uncle often as they enjoy the place. I still havent forgotten how I was cut off for making a joke at the bar about taking the bottle of champagne to our table. But Temple mentality is the same everywhere. No matter how much you spend. If youre not a girl or have a famous cousin, your own accolades or support dont matter.

This was our first time visiting Cheeve s in celebration of our anniversary. We both ordered filets which were very enjoyable. I ordered basmati rice which was a little underwhelming, just lacking flavor. Our drinks were decently priced and we enjoyed our dessert. The worst part of our dining experience was the creepy bug that was crawling along the wall next to us that my husband had to get up and flag down someone to get a disposable napkin in order to kill it. The manager (I assume, he didn t introduce himself) came out and apologized with the excuse that they just sprayed for bugs and it must ve drawn them out. We certainly appreciated the apology, but given the atmosphere and prices of plates, I would at a minimum expect a discount of some sort on the bill. Not sure we will return.

My wife and I were celebrating our 44th wedding anniversary so that called of a special occasion. We had the special two steaks for two with a wedge salad, mashed potatoes, and cheesecake. I grew up in the restaurant business and my dad would take me around to some of the finest restaurants in the country as in New York City Washington, DC, Los Angeles and I can honestly say my meal tonight was the best meal I have ever had! My wife and I were just in amazement of how good the steaks were as well as how attentive the waiter was. It was a very memorable evening.

Giving a two star because our waitress was great. For a highend expensive steakhouse that was highly recommended to us, in our opinion the food fell short. Husband s wedge salad was good, whereas my bisque was too salty. My fillet was over cooked, dry and medium well not medium as ordered. Both our steaks were very salty. Our crème brûlée was over cooked and torched to the point of almost burned, leaving a burned sugar taste in our mouths. Our table for two was roo small, waitress kept shifting things around to make room for it all, very crowded. For the price, all of these things should not have happened. We will not return.

We came here for our anniversary and Im so upset I didnt go somewhere else. The kitchen was totally lost on what to do. The food is very over priced according to the lack of effort from the kitchen. We ordered crab cakes, Rockefeller oysters, asparagus, and steaks. Razzoos would have done a better job. The atmosphere was quite elegant accept for sitting so close to that horrible kitchen crew. The manager was pretty much playing with the kitchen staff and making jokes the whole time. Our waitress was nice, but seemed overwhelmed. I dont think Ill ever come back here again. I suggest nobody does!

Went here for a pre-Valentine day dinner. Had reservations and was seated promptly upon arrival. From there it kind of went downhill. Took about 10 minutes to be acknowledged by someone that wasnt our server. She vowed to let our server know we were there. About another 10 minutes the server shows up to take our drink orders. Got non-alcoholic drinks--(strawberry and peach lemonades which were delicious!), and ordered appetizer and main course. Appetizer was the mini crabcakes and they were pleasantly tasty! We ordered the pork chop and the 24oz porterhouse medium well and a cesar salad. The salad came out as spears of lettuce with little dressing and few toppings, mainly lettuce. It was rather dry. Wanted to ask for more dressing but the server didnt come back by the table within reasonable time to ask how was it or if we needed anything, so we just asked for it to go when she finally made it back. Took a little while for the food to come out (which is fine due to way we requested them cooked). However, we had requested substitution items that were not plated when the food arrived. Matter of fact, we never received the substituted dish after telling the server!! The pork chop was decently cooked and tasted OK. The 24oz porterhouse steak, to me, tasted bland. It was a quality cut, but just didnt have any taste in my opinion. We also had the truffle mac n cheese and for some reason it tasted funny. Not sure if it was the cheese used or how it was cooked, but it didnt taste cheesy at all. The mashed Potatoes were flavorful. The asparagus was supposedly steamed, but was still very tough with no flavor. Lastly, we were never asked about a dessert menu from our server, but was told by the server as we requested to go boxes you didnt want any dessert did you? Overall, the food was disappointingly average for the price paid; the service was extremely sub-par for an upscale experience. Felt as if we didnt want to be served. Upscale prices for a very lacking downscale service.

We visited on Friday night after my husbands college graduation to celebrate and we were not disappointed everything was spectacular. My inlaws were visiting from VA and they got the steak dinner for 2 and both said it was the best steak they have ever eaten. I totally did not read the menu very well and ended up ordering the chicken pot pie which is only served at lunchtime but our waiter Bryan/Brian talked to the chef and he made an exception and made it for me I felted very honored they would go out of their way to accommodate me since it was totally my fault for not reading the menu all the way. We got the beef wellington for an appetizer and it was superb I have to say it was even better then the one we had in Vegas at Gordon Ramsays restaurant. Our waiter Bryan/Brian was amazing he was one of the best service people I have ever cone across in a long time. You can tell he takes pride in his service. Thank you all for making my husbands graduation celebration a memorable one.

Did not inform management because I did not want a scene on my wifes 50 birthday. It took15 minutes after being seated to get the wine and cocktail menu. After asking a second time for it and a waitress it arrived. That is when waitress first approached the table and asked about drinks. Had to ask for the free bread. Mozzarella caprese, tomatoes had hard core center in them. Bones in the salmon. My steak was difficult to cut because it was so tough. My daughters wellington was overpowering sweet. Waitress was polite. Would not recommend. Not even at half the price they are currently charging.

Medium well is not well done and it is not like it can be sent back to cook it more. I did not want to wait for another steak to be cooked because it took a while for the meal to come and we had plans afterwards. Cook the temperature of the steak as asked. That was a $75+ waste of money.

I visited this restaurant for the first time last year. It was a good enough experience that I came back recently. I only leave reviews for really good or really bad experiences. This was the latter. For starters our table was so dark I had to pull out my phone to see the menu. The waitress was not attentive at all. We had to wait a long time before she came back to take our order, then we had to ask someone if they could go get her to refill our drinks, which I stopped eating at one point because I NEEDED to drink and she was nowhere in sight. I wanted one dish and we were told that they wouldn t accommodate my dietary restrictions so I was forced to choose something else. The food was sub par. I couldn t believe it because I was excited to go. No one in my party got a steak so maybe those are the only good items they have. The shareable sides were not shareable at all. One side was only enough for one person as the dish only had enough to cover the bottom. The salad was made differently from the salad I got before and I didn t like it. Like how do you mess up salad? Everything gave the impression they have new managers or chefs and they cut back on portions/quality. It was an overall bad experience. Again, I m so disappointed and totally shocked!

This was my daughters wedding reception. The oysters were super small. The size of a dime and served warm because they dont serve them on ice. Half of the steaks we ordered were overcooked. We got butter at the beginning but no bread until we got our steaks. The pork chops were very dry. They also monitor are alcohol drinks. So if you order a shot and wanted a beer to chase it, we were told we can only have one drink at a time, which is weird. We always order these together. When we expressed our concerns to the manager that, by the way, looked like they were a waiter. Told us that we shouldnt have eaten it because my husband got sick from the oyster at the restaurant, but they shouldnt have severe them he didnt know they were bad. We had a party of 9 but paid in 3 separate tickets but were still charged a 20% gratuity for each ticket. It was not one ticket for one big party. This place is overrated and over price. This is the worst steakhouse Ive been to. I would never recommend this place to anyone. I would have enjoyed going BJ better. We spent 1200.00 dollars there and got terrible service.

My water never got under half because she was there refilling it. I didn t even notice her come just the fact my water was never ending. It was a little pricy but I think that just comes with the experience. I have nothing else to compare it to but I d recommend!

Overpriced, dark atmosphere, bland food, no seasoning on the mash potatoes or asparagus, the macaroni was drowning in oil and our waiter was not attentive at all. For a table of 8 you expected us to rush out in an hour after forcefully giving us our check without even asking us if we wanted desert. Ruths Chris is by far better and I would even go to Salt Grass before returning here.

I expected much more from this restaurant that has NYC priced in Temple TX. Group of four: Service: 5 star Atmosphere: 5 star Food for prices charged: 2.5 8oz fillet, $45, dry and super salty. I can easily make my own. Wine per glass: NYC prices for a measured mediocre wine, $12 on up. Unfortunately I wont return. Quality of food is a far cry from the price.

Saturday evening my sister and I had a reservation for dinner. We were so excited to try this restaurant as we had heard positive comments and the food sounded amazing. We walked in and were immediately seated. Unfortunately, our table was right in front of the bathroom, in the walkway between the kitchen and the bar. Very noisy and distracting! We discussed moving tables but we decided to stay put, as we didn t want to change servers. (Valerie was wonderful!!!). We ordered scallops as our appetizer and a martini, as well. The scallops were delicious and the martini was one of the best. I had cedar plank salmon and my sister had a ribeye. Salmon was very good but the ribeye was good, but not $75 good. We ordered dessert - cheesecake and crème brûlée. The cheesecake was good but the crème brûlée was mediocre. I honestly would have expected more, given the hefty prices. Spoke with the manager and let him know our server was wonderful but the rest not so good. He thanked us for our comments and said he hoped we would come back. I m sorry, but we won t be back.

On a whim AND desire for a delicious meal, I invited my niece and son to a first experience. We frequently dine in the downtown Temple establishments (because I love downtown eateries and would always encourage locals to invest into the city) and I have always spoken highly of this place. In our eyes, we were never suitably dressed for dinner. Guys...they loved it! My niece smiled with every bite. The service, atmosphere and food were all spot on. Not an everyday spot for economically sound family dinner choices but definitely worth the decision to spend a little. I believe you have enough for a second meal. Choose this location for a date night in the spring to spark the romance!

Steaks were amazing along with sides. Drinks were great. Rockefeller oysters were decent, bacon wrapped jalapeños were lacking jalapeño taste. I will definitely come back the only thing that was a little off is that this is a fancy restaurant with higher prices which is totally acceptable for being the kind of restaurant it is, however, the water tasted like it came straight out the faucet. This type of restaurant should have filtered water. At least I would say so. I will go back. I just don t want any of the water.

Our first visit was amazing and we were so excited to return for their Valentines dinner. The service was great as before but the food was very lack luster, the salad, salmon and sauce that came with the crab cakes all tasted like Dijon mustard, so by the time the entree arrived, I was tired of the same mustard flavor. I honestly couldn t even eat the main course. Even though we had a reservation, the dessert we requested was already sold out, so they removed $10 from our $200+ tab (not including drinks). It s unfortunate the set menu didn t have more variety, especially for the price.

Edited this as we discussed the experience more. Shouldnt have to ask for items like menus or sweeteners or a spoon when your meal is over $100 per person. Service was forgetting basic things. Food should be outstanding and not just ok. Better steaks almost everywhere else. Everything was just okay. Not wanting to go back. Porterhouse was just good, not great. Cooked fine. Service was good. As long as you asked for basic items, you would get them. Better experience can be had elsewhere. We both noted that we have had better steak at chain restaurants and better service.

Waitress was good. Food was awful... My husband and I came in and got the dinner for 2. For the appetizer we got the mini beef wellingtons- the dough was still raw on the bottom. For our meals the 2 steaks were both cooked right but cold, asparagus was bland no seasoning and cold, scallops were cold and raw in the middle, and lobster tail was just alright cold as well. Nothing seemed hot and freshly cooked. Looking towards the kitchen which they have an open kitchen the cooks look very unprofessional. I would think for the prices they would be wearing chefs coats and look like professional chefs. But seeing them and how horrible the food was it makes sense. Then as we are sitting there, there was a lady walking around helping which I am assuming was a supervisor or a manager since she was not in a servers uniform. She was also dressed very unprofessionally- Very short skirt and if she bent over too far pretty sure her breasts would fall out. I am so disappointed at the amount of money we waisted here. We will never be back or recommend anyone to come here.

First time to Cheever Brothers, came in Wednesday in December, very small crowd in dining room, only 5 tables in use. The server was nice, but service was slow, which is perplexing with 2 servers handling 5 tables. Moscato wine was good, $12 a glass. My wife had the 16 oz. Ribeye, $69, with side of mashed potatoes $9, the steak we thought to be a bit chewy, I believe the cut of meat to be inferior, for this price the steak should be super tender, cooked medium, in stead of marbling adding to flavor the fat was chewy even though tried to avoid eating it, potatoes were above average. We shared a side of truffle Mac & cheese, this was freaking excellent. I had fire cracker shrimp, 6 of them with basmati rice for $39. It was very average as I felt scrimp over cooked & chewy. The bread was good , rice was bland, fire cracker sauce spicy & tasty. So my verdict is to avoid cheeves brothers as it is a 5 star atmosphere, that I found served subpar 3 star food, that was certainly over priced. I recommend you look elsewhere for fine dining in Temple. I would recommend Nami s or Pignetti s

Our server that we had her name is Valerie by the way if you get the chance to have her do it. She moved us from the bathroom table and was more than willing to set us up at another table. She provided great customer service and had great conversations. At the end of our dinner she gave me a ride to celebrate the night.

What a great steakhouse! Service was fast and friendly and steaks were amazing!!! Tender and cooked as ordered. The smaller filet wasnt big enough for us. We will likely order the larger steak and split between two of us. The sides of mushrooms and spinach (I think thats what we had) were so-so and we should have passed on the desert. They just didnt come to the level of the steaks.

A fine dining restaurant in Temple, TX that never fails to impress. Drinks : A full bar with an extensive wine list and cocktails. The wine cellar is quite impressive. Food : Appetizers, salads, soup, steaks, seafood, dessert.... you name it. Its all great! My personal favorites are the spinach salad with strawberries and balsamic vinaigrette, seafood bisque and five spice Asian salmon. For dessert, you cannot go wrong with any of their offerings - creme brulee, chocolate cake or their flambee. Service : Exemplary! The wait staff are well informed and give you an amazing dining experience. Their suggestions are always great. Ambiance : A classy restaurant for entertaining guests. We were a large group and they reserved a semi-private table at the back of the restaurant, which worked out very well. Street parking is available with additional parking spots a couple of minutes from the restaurant. Valet is available, if you are lazy. Pricing : You pay the price for a fine dining experience. They levy a service charge of 18% for tables over 6. Will I return? : Absolutely!

Meh! 1st time attendees tonight. All the things you would expect to happen on a 4 or 5 star restaurant did not happen here. Yet the price tag for three of us was definitely for such a high $ restaurant. Steaks were not sizzling when they arrived at the table, silverware was not replaced once used, no creamers or sugars brought with the coffee, no visit from the manager during the meal to make sure everything was to our expectations. This restaurant would be 3 stars if in Austin, Dallas, or Houston. And would not be at the price points in the menu. Food was okay. But nothing really positive to boast about. Disappointing.

I had slacks on and a collared shirt like always, when the owner, 20 minutes after being seated, comes to my table and tells me to remove my hat or leave. Well I left and I won t ever be back. Luckily the great folks ar Pignettis salvaged the night and honestly served a much better experience. Next time I want a steak, I ll drive to Fleming s or Perry s in Austin. Waited two hours for food to come out. Party of 7 and I did not get any food until 30 minutes AFTER everyone else finished eating. One of our table guests was polite enough to share their food with me but I was still hungry. Server comped both of our meals and still brought out my food which she boxed uo for me to take home however, it was the halibut. I took it home and ate once i got in but fish reheated doesnt take the same and it was disgusting. Not sure if I would be up for trying the restaurant again. The porterhouse I shared was delicious. Not sure if the Oysters Rockefeller was what got me and another table mate sick since we both had the same symptoms and that was the only thing we ate in common. Nice ambiance, great drinks
